"First, let me preface this by saying that every woman's body is different. Don't let these comments highly influence if you decide to take or not to take Sprintec. You yourself have to try it and see if it works for you. With that being said, I have been on Sprintec for a little over 5 months. It works for me. I really haven't had any side effects... no weight gain, no acne, no crazy moods. I am a Sunday starter, and my period usually comes on late Tuesday or early Wednesday during the week of the placebo pill. The only thing I will say against it is that I haven't experienced the shorter periods. My period still stays on for about 5 days. Most importantly of all, I haven't gotten pregnant!"

"My doctor put me on Sprintec after trying several other pills for birth control and my horrible cramps. The first month, I was dizzy, and my skin was really oily, but taking it before bed and washing my face more often helped. After the second month, the dizziness completely disappeared, and my skin looks great. My cramps used to be unbearable and kept me home from work each month, now I can manage them with a heating pad and a few Advil (instead of taking up to 10 a day). My breasts are larger, but I haven't noticed a weight gain, and it has not affected my sex drive. Everyone is different, but if you are trying this and experiencing side effects, I suggest trying to stick it out at least for the first month. But when in doubt, ask your doctor!"

"Just finished my second pack. For the first month, I had headaches and nausea consistently, so I started to take my pill with food and in the evenings. My period has been on time, completely painless (I had debilitating cramps previously), and very light both months. During the second pack, headaches and nausea subsided-and previously my skin was constantly breaking out, and I haven’t had a breakout in over a month, which is amazing! My boobs grew about a cup size, but I haven’t put on any additional weight (however, I do exercise regularly). I struggle with anxiety and depression in general, but have not noticed any changes or crazy mood swings, which is something I was worried about-if anything, I feel a bit more stable than usual due to the steady stream of hormones in my system."

"I was on Sprintec for five months, and it was awful. Experienced horrible acne and mood changes. I was a completely different person on this. I was constantly crying over everything and having mental breakdowns almost every day. It was so bad that nobody wanted to be around me. It really put me in a bad place, I had really bad depression while on it and constant dark and negative thoughts. Everyone’s body reacts differently, though, I just wanted to post this so if you are experiencing negative thoughts, please reach out to your doctor so they can help you."

"I was extremely scared to start taking this pill because of all of the reviews, but I saw one review that made me change my mind. The girl said, 'Everyone's body reacts differently. The only way to know how yours will react is to try it.' So I did, and now I feel the same as she did. This birth control is great. I only had symptoms the first 2 days, and that was only nausea and one time vomiting. After that, I never felt nauseous again. I've been on it for about a month now, and I've experienced some weight gain, but mostly in all the right areas (breasts, butt, and hips). Because of where the weight gain is, I suspect it's the pill because normally my weight fluctuates. If you're worried, just try it. The worst that could happen is you stop using it."

"I'm about to start my third pill pack, and I love this birth control. Both months my period started the third day of the placebo pills. I have little to no side effects. Sometimes I feel a little nauseous, and my appetite has gone down. But the effectiveness is great! My boyfriend and I have had sex a few times without any other protection. The pill really does work, and I'm so thankful it's so reliable. I do take my pill right to the second at 1 o'clock every day. My experience with Sprintec is wonderful, and I plan to stick with it as my birth control."

"I have no children. I've been switched between Orthotricyclen and Sprintec, and I really see no difference, besides one thing. The same issue everyone is having: breast tenderness. This medication makes my breasts extremely sensitive. The plus side is your breasts do swell; not a huge, visible difference, but you can feel it with your hands if you're used to your breasts not being swollen. They stay swollen 3/4 of the time, so be careful during sex because I find mine to be SUPER sensitive that at times it hurts."

"I've taken Sprintec for nearly three years now, and I love it. I have an incredibly predictable and easy period every month. Also, it has cleared my skin of acne noticeably well. I have never experienced any weight gain while on this pill either. However, something my boyfriend and I both have noticed is that my sex drive has increased quite a bit, especially during the first couple of months of taking!"

"I do not recommend this birth control. I have gained thirty pounds in 6 months, tired all of the time, dark thoughts and anxiety, and low sex drive and pain during sex. I am getting off soon because I can not take it anymore. I can not lose weight no matter how hard I try. I was put on for my cysts, which thankfully went away, but the side effects for my experience, at least, a nightmare."

"I was on Sprintec for about a year and a half after being on Mirena for 6 years. I didn’t have a period on Mirena, so naturally, I started getting mine on Sprintec. But it definitely was very light through the whole time I was on Sprintec. My acne cleared up (less cystic), but boy, did my moods change, and I gained about 15 lbs. I didn’t change my workout routine or eating habits and still put on weight. The pharmacy switched me to Mono Lynyah, which has horrible reviews. So let’s see how that goes."

"Contrary to others, I have not had a negative experience on Sprintec. First time on birth control, and I have been on it for about four months now. The only changes I have noticed are some breast growth, about one cup difference. I have lost about 8 pounds (again, contrary to my expectations), but I am not sure if this is from the birth control, it seems to be correlated with when I started the pill. I am a very active person already, so that was kinda odd. Acne has not really improved, although I wish it would. In the beginning, I did have some nausea if I took my pill without food. I don’t know if increased depression is correlated to the pill, but it could be."

"I'm on my third week of Sprintec 28 and haven't had a single negative side effect. I started using it on the first day of my period, which also happened to be a Sunday (lucky me). I love it! As long as there are no side effects and nothing changes, then I'm staying on this pill forever. The only thing I noticed is that there was still light bleeding even after my period ended, but nothing big. No headaches, nausea, vomiting, mood swings, cramps, stomach pain, breast tenderness/pain, or anything! It depends on the person, you can't just judge it based on the reviews because I was scared to try it. I read so many horrible reviews, but I gave it a shot, and I am pain-free."

"I have been on Sprintec for a month now and have not had a problem with weight gain, but for the first 2-3 weeks, my skin was terrible! It cleared up after that, however. I don't feel hungry as often because I almost constantly feel nauseous and have headaches. The most notable side effect is the cramps. Even though I'm not on my period, I have terrible cramps that make it feel like I am! Got to my first week of white pills and no period."

"I decided to write this review because I read through reviews for Sprintec before going on it and was immediately nervous about taking it, as they were mostly negative. I started Sprintec because it’s cheap, and my doctor said it could help my skin. The first couple of months taking it, I definitely noticed that I was nauseous here and there, usually in the morning, but it was completely bearable. I also felt like it caused a lot of mood swings. I stuck with it, and by month 3, I wasn’t noticing any bad side effects anymore. My skin is clear, besides a few breakouts around my period. The only reason I decided to switch pills today is because recently I feel like the pill has been lowering my sex drive gradually. Other than that, Sprintec has worked awesome for me. Sticking it out for a while does make a difference. Many of the negative reviews I read were from people that have only been on it 1-3 months. Everyone’s different, give it a shot!"

"I originally started my birth control journey with Sprintec, then NuvaRing, then the IUD, then back to Sprintec. I started with pills then would forget, the ring made my cycles too long, the IUD made my skin have the worst breakouts...so my doc said how about Sprintec? I was prescribed this pill mainly for my concern over my skin and length of cycle. Currently, it has been four months on Sprintec, and it has made a HUGE (positive) impact on my skin (almost clear now) and length of cycle (went from 9-12 days to 4-6 days). My advice would be to give this pill time and be patient with it. It has changed my view on BC pills vs. other formats."

"I am writing this review because when I initially was prescribed Sprintec and read these reviews, I was mortified about what I read. Everyone reacts differently, but since I've so far had a pleasant experience, I think it's important to know that for some, it is not horrible. My periods have been shorter and lighter, my PMS has improved, and my hormonal cystic acne is completely gone (a struggle I've had since college 5 years ago). My only complaint is that my first month I felt extremely bloated. However, by the end of month 2, I feel like my body has finally adjusted. I am back to waking up with “morning skinny.” :) And a positive/negative I could leave (depending) is that my boobs definitely grew. All in all, I was expecting the worst but was pleasantly surprised. I would say in the beginning I had very slight nausea, but I found taking this pill at night (I take it at 7 pm) definitely helped."

"I've been on Sprintec for 5 years now. Overall, pretty good. No pregnancies, keeps acne at bay, periods only last ~4 days when it used to be heavy flow for 7 days without birth control (plus, can predict what time it will come; mine starts between 3-7 pm every first day of period). My breasts also went up 1.5 cup sizes. The only downside for me would be extreme mood swings (mad, sad, crying for no reason... but only towards my husband lol!) during period, breast tenderness (near and during period time), occasional nausea. After 5 months of use, I tried to skip the series of white pills and went straight into the next pack in hopes of not getting my period for that month... went terribly. Bled/spotted for the next 30 days."

"I have never been on birth control before, so this is my first time. I’ve been on Sprintec for about 2 months now, got it prescribed. My partner and I have a lot of unprotected sex, so we decided to get on birth control. The only side effects that I have experienced so far are frequent nausea and spotting. I’ve also noticed how clear my skin got. I can’t really say much about my sex drive because I have been so busy with school stuff and work, so has my boyfriend. Other than that, everything seems to be okay for now. My only issue is that I have skipped my period, and now I am experiencing breakthrough bleeding along with mild cramps. I don’t know if this is a good thing or not, but the bleeding only lasts for a couple of hours, then it stops. However, it’s been about 5 days now! My doctor said it would improve as I keep taking the pill, so I’ll be updating you guys on how it’s going so far."

"I've been on Sprintec for about 2 months. I recently noticed weight gain and really bad mood swings. I cry for no reason, so I decided to check online. Turns out a lot of people taking Sprintec had similar problems, which is a relief because I thought I had depression for a bit. But my breast got bigger, that's good, I guess. My period is shorter and lighter, no acne either. So overall it's okay. I just hope I stop being so emotional soon."

"I have been on Sprintec 28 for about 3 months now and love it! It was prescribed by my doctor to ease my menstrual cramps, and it did that and so much more. I had little acne here and there, now my skin is flawless. I have almost no cramps during my period, which is huge from before because I used to sit in pain for hours. My breasts are larger, and the pills are cheap! Also, no pregnancy, so overall 10/10! The only con I can think of is slight nausea after taking the pill, but it doesn't last very long, and I take my pill at bedtime, so I'm asleep when the nausea occurs anyway. Great pill."

"I took this pill for over 5 years, and I can tell you, reading these reviews, do not freak yourself out. People will only post on pages like this because something bad happened, everyone's body is different and handles birth control differently as well. The only reason I am switching is because I am getting ovarian cysts monthly, so my doctor thought about switching it to a more consistent amount of hormones. Overall, this is a really great birth control and gave me 0 side effects, definitely worth trying."

"I was on and off this BC for a total of 4 months, and in those 4 months, I broke out on my right jawline and cheek area and had huge acne cysts; I also cramped quite a bit throughout the month. When I told my doctor, she dismissed everything and said to give it time, but I just felt this was too strong of hormones for my body, so I stopped on my own. Within a month, my acne altogether stopped, but the cramping still goes on; I'm on month 2 of hoping my body will reset from this awful drug. Ladies, if your body is off with this, please listen to it; doctors will always downplay side effect symptoms, and I'm so tired of that."

"I have been on this birth control, Sprintec, for 4 years due to my PCOS. This pill definitely has helped regulate my period and helped get my acne under control. Also, the pill definitely does its job in preventing pregnancy very well, but I also never miss a pill and take it at the same time every day. My only complaints are that it takes me a few days (2-3 days) after taking my last pill to begin my period, and I do get cramps pretty bad."

"I've been taking Sprintec for about 10 months. On the plus side, my face is very clear and my sex drive is normal; I also have very predictable, light, and short periods. On the negative side, I experience PMS-like symptoms in the last two weeks of active pills... bloating, cramps, swelling of breasts, etc. My appetite has increased considerably, but I've had no major weight gain. Overall, I'm happy with Sprintec and would definitely recommend!"

"I struggled with irregular periods ever since I started my period at 14, so at 18, I decided to go on birth control (also because I became sexually active). I've been on it for about 7 months now, and my experience has been overwhelmingly positive. For the first three months, it made my emotions a little weird, my periods heavier, and my breasts tender, but now that my body is used to it, I have 0 side effects whatsoever. No weight gain at all (in fact, I've lost a bit of weight), no decreased libido, no spotting or mood changes. It's also made my skin incredibly clear, which is a nice plus. I love this birth control because it's worked so well for me."
