For Birth Control "Most awful birth control ever. It should be off the market. A week into taking it, I felt off... sad, dizzy, nauseous, and sleepless. 3 weeks into taking it, I had full-blown PMS and got my period. That period started 8 days ago and is still going strong. Simply awful."

For Birth Control "Terrible. I remember being extremely moody, tired, nauseous, and got headaches when I first started. It eventually evened out; however, my face broke out, and if I missed a pill and had to take two, I would vomit profusely. Also, I got spotting mid-cycle. I finally decided to go off it, and just after stopping it, I got awful cramps and nausea. Weeks later, I'm finally starting to feel like myself."

For Birth Control "I started this in mid-October after I went off my old pill (LoLoestrin Fe) due to the fact I couldn't afford it anymore, and there's no generic. My reaction to this pill is odd.... sometimes it gives me an insane, insatiable sex drive, and sometimes I have no drive at all. Sometimes I bleed/spot for 2.5 weeks, sometimes I bleed for 3 days. I have a little acne, which is bothersome since I have PCOS and was hoping for this pill to get rid of the spots, but so far there's been no improvement. Sometimes I get nausea and headaches, but not consistently. Had my first ever yeast infection after being on it for 2 weeks, none since. I'll give this a few more months before I look into switching, since I may still be just adjusting to it."

For Birth Control "I tried this birth control for a week, and I have been breaking out severely. I have mild nausea and headaches, but other than that, no side effects. I want to switch to a birth control that will help with acne, but I am not sure if I can switch mid-cycle."

For Birth Control "Have been on this for about 5 months. At first, breasts got larger (about a cup size), and my period got lighter. No other side effects, however, recently I have been getting very nauseous either a few hours later or the next morning, even if I take the pill with food. It's to the point where I am unable to hold a conversation with someone because I feel like I may throw up. However, I do have a very sensitive stomach, so it could be a combination of the two."

For Birth Control "I started taking this pill at 17 because I had cramps that would literally make me immobile - to the point of missing school. This was my first experience with birth control. My periods became very light - sometimes missing a month or two, it helped my skin as well. I didn't notice any more mood swings than a normal teen would. The only persistent issue that really annoyed me was nausea for the first two days of every new pack. I took it for about 8 years before I decided to see what other methods were available. I tried NuvaRing - not awful, but not for me. I'm currently looking into something more permanent like an IUD or implant. Those reviews are terrifying as well. There won't be one method that works well for everyone."

"There are a lot of negative reviews, so I thought I would share my experience because I was freaked out before going on it after reading reviews. Just remember, everyone is different. I've been on this birth control now for a little over 2 months. My experience has been overall pretty good-mild nausea the first 2 weeks, a few hours after taking it, (I would say at worst a 4/10). I would suggest taking it before bed, that's definitely helped and literally zero libido, so that really has sucked. Other than that, no other side effects."

"One thing that bothers me is people saying they gained weight. Some people experiencing weight gain can blame the pill, but for a vast majority it's because at 18-23 your metabolism slows, and no matter how you eat or exercise you will gain weight, and that's usually the blame factor. I just started this pill today. I get it free from Planned Parenthood! Yippee! It is the first pill that hasn't made me vomit all day long, which was wonderful to get. I had a super high estrogen pill that was the only one that didn't give me nausea, but it gave terrible headaches and made me act out and be cranky. After just one day of this pill, I feel like my old happy self again. I wish I tried this one sooner!"

For Birth Control "I was prescribed Microgestin Fe 1/20 for my PMDD at 18. The first month was amazing, as far as my period goes, light, short, cramp-free, nausea and vomit-free! But the pill has led to a recurring yeast infection, dryness, weight gain, and now six months later I've acquired a second period and terrible nausea. I'm really considering just stopping this pill now."

For Birth Control "I started this pill about two years ago because the previous one I was on made me extremely nauseous. This one does not, it also makes my periods regular, but sometimes they can be heavy-other times almost non-existent. I started researching this pill because I have gained a lot of weight, which I can't seem to lose. I have swelling, especially in my lower leg, ankles, bloating, and a definite increase in breast size (unwelcomed). I was taking another drug around the same time that could very well be the cause of the weight gain, but I've been off of it for over a year and still have not been able to lose the weight. I've also experienced vaginitis, which I've never had problems with before. Doctors don't seem too concerned."

For Birth Control "I just started this pill a few weeks ago after going off the NuvaRing, which had terrible side effects as well. At first, the pill was fine, I didn't notice anything off. And then about a week after taking it, the bloating, nausea, and cramps came back. It is summertime, and it's not a time anyone likes being bloated. I don't know why I get this side effect, but I wish I could find a form of birth control that didn't have these side effects for me."

"Last year, I began to take these pills, and with also having crazy mood swings, I started to have chronic yeast infections. I did all the blood work repeatedly (also expensive), and I came out negative for everything. After about 7 months on the pill, I decided to stop. After that, yeast infections stopped, and I was back to my old self. I don't recall ever losing sex drive, but definitely moody. Last month, my nurse practitioner gave me Microgestin again just to see if the yeast infections would come back. Have been nauseous, really bloated, no mood swings yet, and no yeast infection yet (knocking on wood). Hopefully, this time around it works for me, or else I'm switching to the Mirena or NuvaRing."

For Birth Control "I’ve been on this medication for 2 years now. When I first started taking it, it made me sick to my stomach. After about 4 months, I was fine. It helped me a lot. I’m anemic, and I was also having periods for 2-3 weeks straight and then 2 days off, and then it started again. My periods also made me pass out and throw up. I could work out with my sport teams or run while I was on it. I would get dizzy, and a lot of the time, pass out or have to leave school because of barely being able to stand at school. Love this, but everyone is different."

For Birth Control "I've been on this pill for about 4 months now, and for the first three months, I experienced a lot of nausea. I have not had sex while on it yet, so I cannot speak to that, but I have not gained weight from it, nor have I gotten more acne than I had before. I do recommend this pill because I have not had any other side effects besides the nausea. This is also my first birth control. Hope this helps."

For Birth Control "I was on Mononessa, and my doctor switched me to Microgestin, saying there are fewer side effects. Worst mistake I ever made. I used Mononessa without having one complaint. It's been one week since I started Microgestin, and I'm having chest pain, headaches, feeling nauseous, and tired all the time, and I can't sleep at night."

For Birth Control "I took it for 5 months and went through a living nightmare on this birth control. At first I was okay and had breakthrough bleeding for the first month but no other symptoms. Then I started getting waves of nausea every once in a while in the second month, and by the time I quit, I was getting nauseous over 5 times a day and they were so strong I’d have to stop what I was doing, including pulling over if I was driving. Then within a week of not taking it, the symptoms were all completely gone. BAD DO NOT TAKE."

For Birth Control "I took this for a total of three weeks. WORST PILL EVER. In that time period, I gained 10 pounds, was bloated all the time, and had the worst stomach pains and headaches. I have never been hungrier than I was when I took this, except every time I ate, my stomach puffed up and became hard to the point where it was uncomfortable even to lay down. During that time, I think I actually was depressed from the weight gain and pain. When I finally got my period, I was in so much pain that I laid in bed for two whole days and felt nauseous with sharp cramps and couldn't even move to turn in bed. I also lost 10 times more blood than ever before on my period. Overall, I have never felt sicker while taking this pill."

For Birth Control "I switched to this brand because my local pharmacy didn't carry Tarina Fe. I was only on this pill for 4 days, and within those four days, I lost my appetite and had mild headaches. I didn't think too much of it until the fourth day when I had the worst migraine (the ones you feel in your eyes) of my life, along with nausea to the point where I would get out of bed and start gagging. I felt so sick, and my head hurt so bad that I couldn't even watch TV or listen to music to ease anything. However, within the four days, I didn't cry as much as I did on Tarina Fe... which is worth something."

For Birth Control "No nausea. No breakthrough bleeding. But my mood has changed. I'm not as excited as I used to be, I'm less happy. And my sex drive is at zero! Switching pills tomorrow."

For Birth Control "I've been taking this pill for about 3 weeks now. I don't remember the last time I've had a full meal of food. My appetite has decreased drastically, and whenever I see food, I get nauseous."

For Birth Control "After significant weight gain on Depo and the implant, I told my doctor how I'm sensitive to hormones, more specifically progesterone. So, this pill is considered low dose and is a mixture of progesterone and estrogen. I decided to try it. Love the perks of clear skin and 15 pounds down in 5 months. Cons: nausea after placebo week, dark inner thighs, mild depression, and random headaches. Although I can't say there is a direct correlation between depression, headaches, and the pill. Open to trying extra low dose and see how it works for me. Positives outweigh negatives at this point."
