For Birth Control "Was prescribed Microgestin Fe 1/20 from my Gyno to regulate my periods. I'm 41 and was having periods every 14 days all the way up to 56 days. Was told my body would adjust in about 6 months. Just started month 4. Continuing to experience abdominal pain, bloating, and nausea, especially during week 1 of the pack. I've taken the pill in the evening, close to bedtime, and that has helped with the discomfort, however, I can't sleep. It's like a shot of caffeine. I've switched it up again and am taking it right after lunch, and that seems to work well until the late evening, then the stomach discomfort returns. Also, I've lost weight since taking this pill. I'm down 4 lbs. My period lasts 1-2 days, then just spotting for about 5-6 days following. No change in skin. Libido seems to have increased."

For Birth Control "Pros: Lighter periods, some cramping but much less, no pregnancy scares. Little to no nausea after the first week. No migraines. Cons: Horrible moodiness, depression, anxiety, feeling insecure. Weight gain (though less than other users). Painful intercourse. After a year of being on this pill, I went off for 3 months due to insurance coverage issues. While I was off, I noticed an immediate improvement in mood and energy. After going back on, the depression/mood swings started back up again, and I noticed an extreme drop in libido. Though my experience was not as horribly negative as some others, I will be looking for another birth control."

For Birth Control "I've been on this birth control for a few months now, and I have absolutely no complaints. My insurance covers it 100%. I didn't (and still don't) have any side effects when starting the pill, and I'm not pregnant! No weight gain, no nausea, no headaches, nothing."

For Birth Control "I have been taking the Microgestin Fe for about a year because it is available for free through my insurance as a generic brand, although I began using Lo Loestrin Fe about a year prior, but it was too expensive to continue. I also have experienced very light to practically nonexistent periods. At first, the periods were more normal but became lighter, and sometimes only bleeding occurs 1 or 2 days. My normal menstrual cycle is usually 3 to 4 days when taking a different brand (previously, I used to take Ortho Novum and Alesse, which seemed to work fine for me). My menstrual cycle on Microgestin does seem to skip a month, or it is so light it is hardly noticeable. No nausea symptoms because I always take birth control pills with food."

For Birth Control "I only took it for a week, but it caused horrible headaches that were borderline migraines. They would start about 30-45 minutes after taking the pill and would not go away until I went to sleep. I was nauseous and dizzy constantly, and I would be very warm and hot. It was also causing heartburn, which is something that I've never had before taking this pill. I also had zero interest in sex."

For Birth Control "My first time taking birth control, my gyno put me on Lo Loestrin Fe 1/20, and my hormonal acne cleared up, my sex drive was fine, overall great pill. Then I had to switch to Microgestin Fe 1/20 because insurance didn't cover Lo Loestrin Fe 1/20. Ever since I started taking Microgestin, I have had horrible acne and started off with horrible mood swings, and I'm on month four right now and have recently been experiencing some anxiety and nausea, I think due to this pill. Going to my gyno tomorrow to switch back to Lo Loestrin Fe 1/20 even if it is more costly. Microgestin Fe is horrible, I do not recommend, especially if you are prone to having acne, which is one of the main reasons I started taking BC."

For Birth Control "First few days, some nausea. Lighter period, and cramps were not as bad, and I was not as moody the days before my period. I have now been on it a month and a half and have been having spotting and cramps for the past three days."

For Birth Control "This birth control is okay. It was my first experience with taking the pill. The first month, I had really bad nausea, but then it just went away. It also caused me to get frequent migraines. I've always been a migraine sufferer, but there were more days with migraines than there were without. It helped a lot with my acne, it went from breaking out every day to maybe once or twice every two weeks or so. It helped with the length and heaviness of my period, and cramps weren't nearly as bad as they had once been. Unfortunately, I started getting two periods a month, so my doctor changed my prescription."

For Endometriosis "I was put on this medication because I suffer from endometriosis-related pain as well as extremely irregular periods (I had about 3-5 periods a year versus once a month). I can happily say that I no longer double over in pain, it's still uncomfortable but not unbearable. My periods are also much more consistent. However, I have noticed mood swings that I have never had a problem with before, as well as more than normal breakouts (mostly around my chin and cheeks). I also experienced a bit of nausea the first couple of months I was taking it, eating right before you take it helps a lot. Overall, it did what my doctor and I set out to initially do, but it does have some side effects I'm not thrilled about."

For Birth Control "I've been using this pill for a year now to have regular periods because I don't have periods and to also ovulate every month, which the pill did help me. But the side effects are the worst, which are nausea, weight gain, breast enlargement, tenderness, hurting a lot, mood swings, depression, emotional changes, changes in appetite, nervousness, headaches. I'll be using my last two packs, and I'm done with the birth control pills altogether. I hate that my body went through so many changes."

For Birth Control "I have been on this pill for a month now. Before going on birth control, I never experienced spotting. Now I have been experiencing it often. I haven't gained any weight. In fact, since being on the pill, I've lost weight. I do sometimes feel nauseous, but it has never been anything too severe. My doctor said these side effects usually go away after I've been on it longer, so hopefully she is right!"

For Birth Control "I've been on this particular birth control for a little over a year now. I've been on Loestrin 24 Fe and Lo Loestrin 24 Fe. It's helped more than Loestrin itself did. I haven't had bad acne, no weight gain whatsoever (it's extremely hard for me, so weight gain is welcomed for me), no crazy mood swings, no nausea. Cramps haven't been the greatest, but they are better than they used to be on the other birth controls!"

For Birth Control "I just finished my first pack and haven't had many side effects. I was very worried about nausea, but if you take it with food, you won't have any problems. I have experienced breast tenderness, bloating, water retention (this is where the weight gain comes from), and a little bit of lack of sex drive. I do like it because it has cleared up some of my acne, and I believe that I just got my 'period' this week, which was very light spotting. My insurance covers it also, so it's free for me. I'm pretty happy with it so far, and I'm glad it's reacting fairly well with my body. Good luck!"

For Birth Control "I have been taking this medication for two months now. Overall, it has been good and does what it needs to do, I have had nearly no bad side effects: no weight gain, no headaches/nausea, no mood changes, spotted only once, lighter 'period,' etc. Slight improvement in acne that wasn't bad to begin with, no change in breast size. The glaring exception to this is a drop in sex drive that was low to begin with, which kind of negates why I chose this form of birth control in the first place."

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "Three days after I took my first pill of the first pack, I threw up. When I started my second pack, I got EXTREMELY nauseous for the first 3 or 4 days, and this continued until I got to my 5th pack. Then I no longer had this side effect. It helps really well with periods and reduced it to 3-4 days instead of 6-7, so that's great. Overall, it's a good pill once I got past the nausea."

For Birth Control "I've only been on it for 2 weeks, and the nausea is killing me. It didn't start until week 2, though. I'm learning how to deal with it, and I'm praying it goes away like everyone else says theirs did. So far, that's the only side effect I'm feeling. No mood swings, dryness, etc."

For Birth Control "I have been on birth control for about 3 years. I started out on the shot, it worked well, but I didn't like not having a period, and with my emotions, I spotted all the time. The patch did not work for me (hated it). I'm 5'5" and weigh about 110, my weight has always been on the lighter side (and I can't gain it no matter what). For me, I like the pill, I've been on it for about a year. I do have a low sex drive, I'm always dry. I did go up one cup size. Periods are on the lighter side, and sometimes I don't have one. Since I have been on the pill, I feel sick more often: stomach pains, bloating, nausea, diarrhea, headaches, leg pains, vaginal pains, back pains, but it's never constant, so I usually dismiss it."

For Birth Control "Well, I recently started my second pack, and the least I can say is I've grown a cup size bigger (boob-wise), and I'm maintaining my average weight. I have slight acne, I never get bad pimples, but now my T-zone is bad! No nausea, no headaches. My first pack I had bad, even suicidal depression, but I've noticed all of it is toning down. I have a little acne between my breasts (which NEVER happens). My periods are light and stay for 4 days at the most, no cramps. Everything is great except for the acne...."

For Birth Control "When I first became sexually active, I started on Microgestin. The nausea during the first couple of months was unbearable, and it resulted in losing 10 pounds. After the nausea cleared, I became so violently emotional that I couldn't take it anymore. This pill made my life a nightmare!"

For Birth Control "I have been on and off taking birth control pills. I started Microgestin Fe 1/20 about 4 months ago. And ever since, I have had a lot of rough mornings with nausea and headaches. It helped clear out my cystic acne; but I have gained dramatically 10 lbs within 4 months, and that wasn't funny! More like a devastating realization. Every woman is different, and I had read these reviews before taking it. I guess you won't really know until you try it. That's how you know what's best for you, and I found that Microgestin Fe 1/20 is not for me. Hope this is helpful!"

For Birth Control "I've been taking this since January of 2013, and it's been working great for me. I am not horribly incapacitated by my periods (before, I would get really sick with bad cramps, nausea, and headaches). My periods last maybe a day at most, no cramps, no usual symptoms like before. The smell of my periods has changed, though I've noticed, I'm not sure what to make of it. Not sure if it's a side effect, but I've noticed I've become rather sensitive to the smell and taste of seafood. It makes me nauseous. That's pretty much the only 'side effect' I've noticed out of the normal."

For Birth Control "I have been using this medicine for a little over 6 months. I have noticed some weight gain, but on the plus side, my acne has cleared up. This pill gives me little to no nausea (all pills make me feel very sick). I have had no headaches, my periods are shorter, lighter, and I do not experience cramps anymore. All in all, I say it's not bad. I have been on several types of pills, this is the best so far (minus the weight gain, of course...but if I were to get pregnant, I would gain a lot more weight!)."

For Birth Control "I took this pill for 2.5 years, and it was pretty good. When I first started, the only negative side effect I had was nausea 24/7 for about 6 months, but it eventually went away. I had to switch to a higher dosage because my PMS symptoms, like hormonal breakouts before periods, came back after about two years on the pill. However, I have regular sex, and I never got pregnant! So it does its job."

For Menstrual Disorders "After growing up with terrible periods, some that would last up to three weeks, and by that I don't just mean spotting, I finally chose to get on the pill. I really do not like the massive gain of weight in my breasts. I was a DD38 to begin with, and my breasts have only grown even more being on my second month. They are EXTREMELY sensitive, and I have put on 5-10 lbs, which is something my doctor told me wouldn't happen. It has controlled my terrible periods, but other than that, the negative side effects seem to outweigh the positive. The first month was full of spotting, and I constantly felt as if I were going to puke. Now, on the second month, my period is very under control, but the weight gain in my breasts and body are two things I hate."
