For Birth Control "This was the first birth control I was ever on. The first 4 months on it were fine. My sex drive was normal, my moods were normal, then it all changed. I noticed I start to become depressed. I had emotional outbursts, I was moody all the time. Not to mention my sex drive became nonexistent, and I was so dry down there it was too painful to enjoy intercourse. I felt like a completely different person, and not in a good way. In July I went off the pill and stuck to condoms. I'm starting a new brand called 'Lutera' and hoping it's better than microgestrin fe 1/20 was. Pros: No pregnancy scares. Periods were on time. Cons: depression. Anxiety. Mood swings."

For Birth Control "I was on this pill for about a year in 2013 and my doctor took me off of it because it made me bleed twice a month. However, when I'm not on birth control I tend to bleed twice a month anyway and my periods are horribly painful and heavy. With this pill at least they were light and only lasted 3 days at most. This is the only pill I've ever taken that kept my face completely clear the entire time. I just switched back after a month in Sprintec, which was causing nodules on my face that scabbed over and made me look like a meth addict. All bc causes side effects, unfortunately. You just have to pick which ones you can live with."

For Birth Control "Worked fine the first five months of taking it. Around month six, I started getting horrible heavy, crampy, clotty breakthrough bleeding with cramps that were up there in terms of the worst I've ever experienced. It started giving me horrible migraines that made me unable to function. However, it did do it's job as a contraceptive. I never got pregnant the six months I was taking it, so three stars for it!"

For Birth Control "This was my first birth control ever, so at the time I didn't have anything to compare it to. Looking back, it was a pretty bad experience. I have problem skin, and this drug gave me pretty extreme hormonal acne around my jawline that only got worse overtime. Please be careful if you have past experience with acne or if you notice the acne isn't going away!!! I got acne scars that are just now fading. I also noticed that it nearly completely killed my sex drive and put me in a generally depressive state. It might work for some people, but I urge you to try multiple types of birth control before you settle for one, because something you take everyday should not leave you with such bad side effects."

For Birth Control "I have mixed feelings about this pill. Took this birth control for about 3 years, my periods were great! Very light and regular. But for about the last year my mood swings have been terrible and I’ve developed anxiety. I’ve also noticed my hair has thinned tremendously which is devastating for me as I’ve always had the thickest healthiest hair until this pill :( so I’m now switching pills and hopefully my hair and normal moods will come back!"

For Birth Control "I’ve been on this medication for 2 years now, when I first started taking it it made me sick to my stomach after about 4 months I was fine. It helped me a lot I’m anemic andIi was also having periods for 2-3 weeks straight and then 2 days off and then it started again. My periods also made me pass out and throw up I could work out with my sport teams or run while I was on it I would get dizzy and a lot of the time pass out or have to leave school because of barely being able to stand at school. Love this but everyone is different."

For Birth Control "This pill is a nightmare. I have been on this pill for ten months and I officially go off in 7 days and that can't come any sooner. I don't even know where to start with all the horrible things this pill caused me. I didn't start getting all these issues until six months into the pill. I got extremely extremely bad anxiety. I have been in a constant state of anxiety for the past five months. I am also extremely depressed. Due to this pill. I developed sleep paralysis and insomnia due to this pill. I am a comepletely different person then I was ten months ago. This pill ruined my life. My memory also got extremely bad on this pill as well. This pill literally has caused my life to spiral out of control."

For Birth Control "This birth control is has been officially retired by me after a little over a month of use. The side effects have been horrendous and the reason I began taking this was a mess up that my physician made because originally I was taking Lo Loestrin Fe (which is a definitely the best for me). So my experience is I that I got a bacterial vaginosis twice because the pill messed with my pH and I had my period almost consistently for the month of taking this pill. I'd get 1-3 day breaks and then be back on a heavy painful period that lasts for a week... I have an appointment with my physicial next week to address what is going on and change to maybe an IUD because the pill is such a hit or miss with side effects plus the remembering to take it every day."

For Birth Control "I have been on microgestin Fe 1/20 for 6 years now and I have no issues with this pill. My doctor originally prescribed this medication to me because I get headaches frequently. I do not experience headaches as much as I did before and I have not had any weight gain, emotional distress, or acne of any sort. I get my period on the same day every month and with very minimal cramps and bleeding. I highly recommend this medication."

For Birth Control "I hate this pill. The first three months went by smoothly. Suddenly my face began breaking out and leaving horrible dark marks. After that my mood began to change. I'm now 5 months into these pills and I feel like a completely different person. I can't sleep at night if I take these pills, but I sleep perfectly if I skip a dose. I cry or get upset over small things, which is very unlike me. I don't feel like doing anything anymore. It's a chore to get out of bed. I'm gaining weight like crazy even though my appetite hasn't changed. I was a very happy and energetic person before taking these pills. I don't recognize myself. I plan to either switching brands or getting off of birth control completely. I need to find my happiness/sanity again."

For Birth Control "I was EXTREMELY nervous about taking this bc. This is my first bc pill I've taken and it's been great. I just finished my first pack and all I can say is I weigh less and my period was SUPER light! Before bc, my periods were like 4 days long. On birth control, it was literally a day. I didn't have any mood swings or depression. I do feel like it increased my anxiety a tad bit. Always remember, when looking for the right bc for you, never put too much into these reviews. Try it out for yourself."

For Birth Control "I mainly chose this brand because it is 100% covered by my insurance. I have been using it for about 10 months now and I have absolutely no issues. No side effects at all (knock on wood). No weight gain, no breakouts, no nausea, no babies."

For Birth Control "This pill worked wonders for 6 months for my endometriosis until it, mixed with anxieties about going off to college and being an adult, triggered a horrible depressive and anxiety-fuelled episode that lasted 2 weeks. I couldn't bear to get out of bed, showering felt like running a marathon, I hated looking at myself, and I cried daily over nothing. I have never had an episode that bad and once I got off of it I felt slightly better, but I ended up having to go on Lexapro! Be careful taking this if you have a mental health condition!"

For Birth Control "I tried this birth control for a week and I have been breaking out severely. I have mild nausea and headaches but other than that no side effects. I want to switch to a birth control that will help to acne but am not sure if I can switch mid cycle."

For Birth Control "NO. no no no. I was on birth control for 6 years with no problem until my gyno switched it on me and the new one gave me cystic acne. I then decided to try the IUD and hated it. Then I decided to give this a go cause I wasn't getting my period. I gained 12 lbs, at lest 5 from bloating, 5 from feeling hungry all the time. I'm so tired, can't get out of bed, feel sad all the time, no motivation, can barely shower without wanting to sit down, can't bare to look in the mirror or do my makeup. I'm 20 years old and was completely happy 2 months ago. if you are sensitive to weight gain or pills don't take this pill. I stopped it 2 days ago and hope I can lose the weight quickly."

For Birth Control "Every woman is different I understand. IMO and five months on this pill it has more cons then pros for my body. Main being vomiting every day while taking it, nausea, gas, mood swings and anxiety that feels so much like panic attacks. I gain so much weight, which I don't mind. But the vomiting is getting out of hand that I puked so hard I bled a bit. Taking this kinda makes me personally paranoid in taking any birth control..."

For Birth Control "I've been on this for a little over a month. The first pack was a little rough. Spotting, night time nausea, some bloating, breast tenderness, I felt tired, more anxiety than usual and just blah. I never had a breakout tho, and my skin is prone to hormonal zits. However as the month went by I got better and now starting my second pack I have had zero side effects. Hopefully it stays that way. I'm satisfied with it so far :)"

For Birth Control "Ive been taking this for a month now. I'm 18 years old. I take it the same time everyday but I've missed it once and now I'm bleeding :/ lightly. I feel sick everyday and my face has only had a few zits. Too early to tell if I'll continue taking it but it does what its suppose to. My periods use to be heavy and last 4-5 days with bad cramps. I took my first pill on my second day and my period stopped completely. Had cramps but not bad. Recommend it :)"

For Birth Control "I have been taking Microgestin for almost 4 years and I have an appointment at my OB tomorrow to get it switched. My menstrual cycle has always been off. Therefore, I was put on Microgestin in hopes for proper regulation with a lower dose. In the beginning, I didn't notice many side effects. Now, four years later, I can't get off this fast enough. I gained a lot of weight, I'm constantly negative, moody, and my emotions are all over the place. I've never had problems with vision before, now I'm wearing glasses and my vision is slowly getting worse. My anxiety levels are through the roof and I have such a loss in sex drive. It has been terrible and I'm really hoping that I find a new birth control that works for me."

For Birth Control "I had switched to Microgestin from Lutera for the menstrual suppression option (which I can't do on Lutera). Within the first week my chin started breaking out and after two months it was left covered in pimples and scars. I switched back to Lutera a few weeks ago and my skin has completely recovered. Really frustrating because I had no other side effects on Microgestin but the breakouts were just awful. I should note that I have never had acne or suffered from prolonged breakouts."

For Birth Control "I have been taking Microgestin for 10 years and have experienced minimal side effects. The positives: My periods are much lighter, shorter, and I have less cramping. My skin cleared up dramatically, I would get cystic acne and this pill in combination with tretinoin from my dermatologist has drastically improved my skin. I have experienced no weight gain. The down side is my libido has decreased recently (only after being on the pill for many years); I'll be switching pills temporarily to see if there is a difference. I did stop taking this pill for about 6 months and I immediately gained weight and my acne returned. If it works for you, it's a great lo dose option!"

For Birth Control "I have been on Microgestin Fe for about 4 months. I got on it because I was getting the depo every 3 months and I stopped shedding my lining completely. So my Dr put me on this. It has its pros and cons. My biggest problem is how sore and tender my breasts get. Lately I've experienced nausea normally at night. My periods come with very heavy cramping. All though it has protected me from pregnancy which is an upside. This pill just is not for me."

For Birth Control "I was on this pill for 2 1/2 weeks and quit. I felt normal the first 2 weeks but once I started the third week my mood completely changed. I argued with my boyfriend for 3 days in a row over little things, and I knew it was the pill. Also, I've been eating so much more the past two weeks and I'm so scared to weigh myself because I know I've gained weight (also because of the pill). Lastly, I have very very clear skin; I breakout once a month, if that. However, my last week on the pill I broke out terribly. I have a painful zit on my left side of my forehead, 2 small pimples on the right side, and 2 small pimples on my left cheek. I never get pimples on my cheeks!!! This pill is horrible!!!"

For Acne "Most people that are complaining that they got acne using it are most most likely in their first/second month of using it. I'm almost at my fifth month of taking Microgestin and I rarely break out now. I've definitely been noticing that my skin looks better. Also, I have been weighing myself and have not gained weight from it. My advice is, just keep on taking it because most symptoms (mainly the acne part) gets worse before it gets better."
