For Birth Control "I have been on Microgestin Fe 1/20 for almost 9 months, and I have to say that I can't complain. This birth control has worked very well with my body, few days or no periods. I do actually notice I get really emotional. Haven't noticed any difference in sex drive. Overall, great pill."

For Acne "After 2 1/2 years of horrible acne, during which I was on antibiotics and topicals that never ended up working, my dermatologist and doctor suggested I should try birth control. I went to Planned Parenthood and was put on Microgestin Fe 1/20. After about 6 months on this pill, I actually lost weight (due to nausea at first), breasts grew, lighter periods every month, and no change in everything else. As for my acne, it probably got better about 40%, but still had at least 3-5 pimples/cysts all the time and no reduction in face oiliness. Trial and error, now trying Ortho Tri Cyclen."

For Birth Control "I have been taking this pill for about 6 months to prevent pregnancy. I've had regular light periods, and my appetite has drastically decreased, but I haven't been losing weight. It slowed my sex drive down in the first few months of use, but my drive is back to normal now. I am also very moody, lethargic, and constipated. However, I like it since it is preventing me from getting pregnant, and it's free."

For Birth Control "Months 1-2 = no cramping, came right on time, incredibly light, period lasted 1-3 days, no weight gain, no acne. Month 3 = crazy mood swings, not myself, didn't feel motivated, hurt my family/boyfriend's feelings a lot. Months 4, 5 = felt normal again, happy in my relationships, acne normal, no weight gain still, period came a week early both months with lots of brown discharge and then bleeding the week of my period. Month 6 = period came right on time, mild cramping, no mood swings, acne normal, period not heavy but not as light as months 1-2. Overall, stick with this pill. It can be rocky, but I think I've gone through everything and am leveling out."

For Birth Control "Before getting on Microgestin Fe 1/20, I was on Yasmin. I never had any problems with Yasmin, although my period was slightly heavier than desirable. I have been on Microgestin now for four months and literally go through two full period cycles in a row each month. It is awful and inconvenient. My doctor actually put me on the pill because of the reports of shorter periods. I know that all bodies react differently, but be cautious of this problem if you do not want to chance it. I have also experienced severe mood swings, but I cannot discredit it regarding actual birth control. Just remember to take it at the same time, daily."

For Birth Control "I wanted to write a review because I see so many people saying it caused them side effects, so I wanted to share a positive review so potential users aren't afraid to try it. I had no side effects whatsoever from this drug. I've been on it for 8 years and haven't gotten pregnant, so it is definitely effective. And a bonus has been much lighter periods."

For Birth Control "I have been on this pill for 3 weeks and already can't wait to switch to something else. After the first week, I became severely depressed with heavy mood swings and no sex drive at all. I cried at everything. I felt nauseous almost every day."

For Birth Control "I'm 18 and don't like this pill. The first week of side effects was horrible, I couldn't even get up. I've been taking it for 3 months and only got my period 1 time. I don't like that because it scares me. I gained like 15 pounds and have been so depressed. I will be switching soon."

For Birth Control "I have been on it for a little over a year now, starting it when I was 17. I was a bit moody at first, but no weight gain, acne did clear up decently. No pregnancy scares with my boyfriend. Definitely lessened cramps and flow once a month. However, after the one week on it each month, I have mild cramps and light flow. Happens for a few days, then back to nothing. Still have a period each month, but pain and flow greatly reduced."

For Birth Control "Literally put me in such a dark place. I think I cried every day for months on this pill. I talked to my doctor, and she said I maybe needed therapy. I switched birth controls just in case because a friend suggested that might be the issue, and right when I switched, I felt like a weight was lifted, and I turned completely back to my happy self! Basically, I feel like doctors often don’t talk about the mental side effects of birth control pills a lot. So if you are ever depressed and think it’s that, don’t let anyone talk you out of switching! But everyone’s body is different, so it might work for you. My favorite is Amethyst/Lybrel since it has one of the lowest doses of estrogen you can get in a combination pill. For me, less estrogen = less side effects! I feel great now!"

For Menstrual Disorders "I have been on the pill for about 3 weeks now, everything has been going okay. I have less mood swings, I'm more calm, and my sex drive has improved, so that's a plus. There are a few side effects I've experienced, though: my acne is breaking out again, I've been having spotting and severe cramps, but I'm going to finish my 3 months and see how it goes... Hope this helps, good luck, ladies!"

For Birth Control "I've been on Microgestin for almost 3 years, and the only side effect I ever had was that it cleared up my acne completely. My periods are very light now and extremely regular, as opposed to being heavy and sporadic before. Have had constant unprotected sex for 3 years and have never had a scare whatsoever. Oh, and it's free with my insurance. 100% win."

For Birth Control "I gained about 10-12 lbs and couldn't lose it, which is weird since I eat very raw and work out hard 4-5 times a week. As soon as I switched, I lost it immediately. I also stopped getting huge cysts all over my body."

For Birth Control "This is my first pack of Microgestin Fe 1/20. I asked two of my coworkers if they liked being on this pill, and they said it was okay. Unfortunately, I get headaches like crazy. I'm finding that for every pill I take, I also take an Advil! The only positive thing from this pill is that it's making my breasts grow (I'm on the smaller side). My breasts do hurt and are tender all the time. Not sure if I want to continue this pill because the headaches are really interrupting my lifestyle. Not to mention, I get super moody. I tell people not to take it personally, that it's my hormones. Definitely, more negative than positive."

For Birth Control "My insurance had changed my usual pill to this one, Microgestin Fe 1/20, due to insurance, and it has been terrible. I have constant depression and anxiety. I'm always angry over small things, and it does not even help my heavy periods/cramping, which is what I take the pill for. I will be switching again and paying the difference just so I don't have to go through this anymore."

For Birth Control "I'm 18. I've been on the pill for a month now and love it. The first pill I took, I did get very nauseous, but nothing water and a nap couldn't fix. Breasts have gotten a cup size larger, more sexually active, but my boyfriend doesn't mind. Haven't had any pregnancy scares, but I have not had a period yet. I switched from the Depo shot to the pill, and I like the pill a lot more. Just need to remember to take it every day around the same time."

For Birth Control "I hate this pill. The first three months went by smoothly. Suddenly, my face began breaking out and leaving horrible dark marks. After that, my mood began to change. I'm now 5 months into these pills, and I feel like a completely different person. I can't sleep at night if I take these pills, but I sleep perfectly if I skip a dose. I cry or get upset over small things, which is very unlike me. I don't feel like doing anything anymore. It's a chore to get out of bed. I'm gaining weight like crazy, even though my appetite hasn't changed. I was a very happy and energetic person before taking these pills. I don't recognize myself. I plan to either switch brands or get off of birth control completely. I need to find my happiness/sanity again."

For Birth Control "This is the only birth control that I have used, and it was recommended to me by a friend. I have been on it for over two years now and have had virtually no side effects at all. During my first month on it, I spotted almost every day, but after that, I did not have a single issue with this pill. My periods are extremely light to the point where I have not even needed a pad or tampon in two years. I have not experienced any acne, mood swings, weight gain, or libido changes whatsoever."

For Birth Control "The medication is 100% effective in preventing pregnancy, as long as you follow the guidelines of the medication. This is my 3rd month on the pill. I have not gained weight or had any serious side effects. I do notice that I get cramps the week of my period, but very minor. My period flow is a lot lighter. The only discomfort is breast enlargement and tenderness."

For Birth Control "I have endometriosis and am perimenopausal. Had laparoscopic surgery on my endometriosis 15 years ago and had easy periods for years after. In the past year, as perimenopause set in, my periods became unbearable and came every 2-3 weeks, so I decided to try Microgestin Fe to control symptoms and frequency of periods. The first 8 or 10 days were awful: severe nausea, lethargy, deep depression, and bleeding/spotting for 14 days. Someone suggested I take the pill at night before bed instead of in the morning. Immediately, like magic, everything normalized. It's now been 3 months - my moods are stable, no spotting, no bloating, no cramping, no breakouts. Only real side effect is constipation from the supplemental iron. Now I drink fiber beverages each morning and all is well. Every person reacts differently, but I wanted to share that the bad side effects aren't necessarily permanent."

For Birth Control "My OBGYN switched me to this pill because she believed the Necon 0.5/35 I was previously on contained unnecessary amounts of hormone for me. About 3 months in, my libido decreased, but I wasn't having any other side effects, so I decided to wait it out and see if things got better. Around month six, I missed my period three months in a row, wasn't pregnant, thank God, and started breaking out like crazy. My periods have resumed, but I've got no sex drive, really bad skin, and have become emotionally unstable around my time of the month, which is very unusual for me. I am 24 years old, 125 lbs., and have a pretty active lifestyle if anyone wants those statistics for their reference. I'll be switching at the end of this month's pack."

For Birth Control "I was very hesitant to try this birth control after reading so many negative reviews. I decided that I would go ahead and try it anyway, since everyone reacts differently. Personally, I absolutely love this birth control. I have been on it for approximately three months now and have not had any bad side effects whatsoever. I used to be on Yasmin for three years and would get headaches almost daily. Ever since I switched, I rarely get headaches. I have had no weight gain, no mood swings, no acne, and no change in breast size (unfortunately). I have noticed my periods are much lighter, and I have had no spotting. Overall, I give this birth control an A."

For Birth Control "I've been on Microgestin Fe 1/20 for 4 months. Gained weight, mood swings, horrible cramps, and bleeding in between periods. I don't feel like myself at all. I've been bleeding for 7 days now. The only thing this has done for me is heighten my sex drive. I've decided to stop taking it. Going back to condoms."

For Menstrual Disorders "I was put on Microgestin because I have awful cramps at the start of my period and ovarian cyst ruptures that would put me in the hospital. Microgestin took the cramps away, as well as my period! I was on it for 7 months before I began to realize that it was giving me some bad side effects. I felt nauseous, had blurred vision, shortness of breath, and felt tired all the time. I also experienced hot flashes and some mood swings. Today is my first day off the pill, and I can already feel the cramps. Guess I will have to decide which one is worse, the cramps or the side effects."

For Birth Control "I was on Loestrin 24 FE for years until they stopped making samples of it, and it was too expensive to buy. My doctor switched me to this pill. I lost 15-20 lbs, moods have been more stable, and my sex drive has increased dramatically! The only con was I did break out really bad when I first switched, but now I'm on my 3rd pack, and I'm getting my breakouts under control. I'm amazed at the weight I lost and didn't realize I gained it from my old birth control. This is my new favorite!"
