For Birth Control "I switched from Safyral to Microgestin. After reading the horrible reviews of this pill, I literally cried. I wanted to share my good experience with taking Microgestin over the past ~2 months. I have noticed no spike in appetite, except around the week before my period and at times while I'm on my period, which is not unusual for me. I have not noticed any extreme bloating, and I've experienced little to no nausea. I have no cramps, no spotting, and my period is now extremely light, to the point where I forget I have it at times. I only experienced one patch of skin on my face that became almost unnoticeably darker, but it faded in a week. I exercise daily, eat reasonably, and I have not gained weight. This pill is not bad in my experience."

For Birth Control "I'm going on my second month of Microgestin. I was on Seasonique before pregnancy, which I had no problem with, but I have a new doctor now. The first couple of weeks, I had light spotting and nausea, but it has decreased. I had my period right before the placebo week. I have gained about 4 lbs so far, and my breasts have gone up a cup size, but that is a plus for me. I have also experienced a huge increase in sex drive, which is unusual. I have no complaints so far, I just hope my periods are predictable."

For Birth Control "Wow. It sure did the job. No pregnancies because I lost my sex drive and became dry. I don't do any drugs nor smoke. And I had mood swings that were insane. Once, I got to the point where I couldn't go to sleep at night and went through my boyfriend's phone and accused him of cheating. So just please beware, and if others are noticing symptoms, I hope they speak out because I didn't come to terms with it until I reached a scary point."

For Endometriosis "I started Microgestin 1/20 at age 38 for painful periods due to endometriosis. The first two days, I was so sick, but it went away. I think my situation is unique because I was put on this pill to reduce periods. I skip the placebo pill week and continue onto the next pack of active pills to avoid a period. It's amazing! My 'gut' finally feels great! A few not-so-great things: 5 LB weight gain almost immediately. GAS. I became really gassy. Not cute. Not sure how to deal with that. SWEET TOOTH. Never had it before. Now I've got one. Overall, I'm pleased."

For Birth Control "I switched to this pill from Mirena due to severe cystic acne (from the Mirena). The last pill I had taken was Yaz, which I did great with. After my first month on Microgestin Fe, my cystic acne started clearing up. The first couple of days I was nauseous, but that went away. Taking it right before bed helps. I've been on it for about 3 months now, and I've gained about 10 lbs. I'm the heaviest I've ever been! I'm always hungry and have developed an intense sweet tooth! My breasts did get larger. I'm a 34 C, and I can still wear the same bra size, they just look fuller. No extra sensitivity with them, though. My libido didn't really change. Just my weight."

For Birth Control "First, I want to say I have never been on birth control. I am 24 years old. This is my first time being on birth control. I’ve been on this birth control for about three months now. The first few weeks, my mood swings were horrible, my boobs grew!!! I feel the difference... and I haven’t gained any weight at all! Actually, this birth control kind of slowed down my appetite. Now, after the few weeks went by, everything has been fine with me. My period is back on track how it used to be. I have no problem with this birth control, but every woman's body is different, so I really didn’t have any bad experience with this birth control. I hope this helps."

For Birth Control "I am 19 years old, and this is my first time on birth control. I chose this one because it is fairly inexpensive if I didn't have insurance to cover, as well as fitting my body. I have no bad experiences with it at all, no weight gain or anything, and it does its job! Needless to say, I love this pill!"

For Birth Control "Personally, I love this contraceptive! I think it is a great help for women with extremely painful cramps and a heavy flow. I have not experienced any weight gain, thankfully, but sadly no weight loss either."

For Birth Control "I'm currently on a mood swing, so forgive me. Although I've just started this pill 3 weeks ago. Every other day, I cry for no reason. Then I get angry and mad and just lose my appetite. And I'm sick to my stomach. I feel bloated daily and just annoyed. I have my good days. I was so much happier, though, before the pill. And the only great thing is my breasts grew like 2 sizes, haha. Other than that, I'm making an appointment tomorrow. I'm fed up with these strange mood swings."

For Birth Control "This is effective in preventing pregnancies, but I've had some other unpleasant side effects. I've been on this for 9 months. During the first three, I would always break out real bad around the time of my period. Then for a couple of months, the acne stopped, but other symptoms began popping up: spotting, sometimes an early period, extreme mood swings, weight gain (20 lbs). The last two months, when my libido began to suffer, I decided to switch. No sex drive. None. It's killing me. Even if I want to have sex, which is rare anyway, my body says no. The end of this pack is it for me."

For Birth Control "I've been on this pill for a little more than 2 years (can't remember exactly when I started it). Only birth control I have ever used, and I have no problems with it whatsoever. No mood swings, no weight gain, no increased acne, and so light of periods that I only need a liner which lasts for 2 to 4 days. My sex drive is the same as it was before the pill, and I haven't had a single pregnancy scare, which is great because I've had unprotected sex with my boyfriend the entire time I've been on the pill. I, of course, take the pill like you are supposed to (every day at the same time), other than not bothering with the sugar pills. I recommend trying it for a few months because when I first began the pill, I had nausea, but it stopped after a few months."

For Birth Control "I have been on this birth control for a month now. I was never really the type of person to get a lot of acne, but ever since I started on this pill, I’ve got super bad acne and hate my skin. I was “light bleeding” for over 2 weeks. I have gained a little over 10 pounds since I started because I'm constantly wanting food. Before I started this birth control, I weighed 115, now I weigh 127 in one month. Another thing is I'm always tired, no matter how much I sleep. The only “plus” side is that my cramps aren't as bad anymore."

For Birth Control "First off, let me say the 9 is being given because I am not using this as traditional birth control. Love the regularity, love that my cramps are gone, love that I can adjust my cycle if I have a special event, love that I have had zero weight gain (have lost weight, but that is due to diet/exercise), and love that I still feel like myself on this pill. Monthly, I do still experience some bloating and PMS, but compared to my previous almost PMDD symptoms, this is great. The moods are much more controllable, and I feel less emotional. I would recommend taking the 'inactive' iron pills - when I didn't take them, my periods were heavier. Good luck!"

For Birth Control "I have been on this pill since June of 2015, and I so far have not gotten pregnant, but I have pregnancy-like symptoms all the time, which lead me to think I am pregnant, therefore buying tests. I have major migraines, I am depressed, I already had anxiety, but it has heightened, I am moody and nauseous all the time. My body aches. I am worried about what effect this is having on my body. I have also taken the pill at the same time every day and have skipped the week off (period week), but have not had a period since the 2nd month of being on it."

For Birth Control "I have been on this birth control for a while now, probably a year. I love the fact it makes my periods super light and super short. I even skip periods often, which is scary but a relief at the same time. The biggest downfall is the fact I am depressed a lot and have zero sex drive. I blame the birth control because I have gone without it for a few days because I ran out, and I felt like a new happy woman with a sex drive."

For Birth Control "So amazing. I have currently had the IUD Mirena for 3 years and recently realized how much I miss Microgestin Fe 1/20 and want it back in my life. Recently, I had a new guy complaining he can feel it. The Microgestin pills had me with the finest body (lost weight); no acne, light/no periods, and no pregnancy. I would take it every day, on time (at 3 pm), until a nurse (funded by my [different] school health insurance) encouraged me to get the IUD because you don't have to remember something every day; it 'prevents pregnancy better.' That is why I switched. Yes, this pill made me feel bad at first, but the nausea goes away. I want it back."

For Birth Control "I was extremely nervous about taking this BC. This is my first BC pill I've taken, and it's been great. I just finished my first pack, and all I can say is I weigh less and my period was super light! Before BC, my periods were like 4 days long. On birth control, it was literally a day. I didn't have any mood swings or depression. I do feel like it increased my anxiety a tad bit. Always remember, when looking for the right BC for you, never put too much into these reviews. Try it out for yourself."

For Birth Control "I have finished my first pack of this birth control and honestly haven't really had any side effects. I was afraid at first of starting because of all the reviews I've read online about the mood swings and such, but I haven't experienced any. The only side effect I did notice was random spotting (bleeding). It's not a lot, though. Overall, so far, I am pleased with this birth control, this is actually my first birth control I am taking. By the way, I am 18 years old."

For Birth Control "I was so skeptical to begin taking this because I read the reviews beforehand, but after being on it for a full month now, I can say I think I found the one. My boobs grew just enough, light period, and virtually no cramps. I used to not even be able to get out of bed because of my cramps, and it is so nice to be able to actually function the first couple of days of my period."

For Birth Control "This birth control is the worst kind I've ever taken in my life. I thought I had a bad experience with Seasonique solely because of the weight gain, but Microgestin Fe was 100 times worse. The first month I was totally fine, then after a while, I started getting really emotional. I cried at the most absurd things, and I'm not usually a crier. It made me so irritable and cranky with my family, my boyfriend, and even his family. Not to mention it caused me to get a yeast infection, which I never had before and haven't had since I got off the pill. And the worst part, it made me go from someone with an extremely high libido to someone that cringed at sex. Getting off it was the best decision I've made."

For Acne "When I first started this medicine, I would get headaches and feel super sleepy within the first 5 minutes of taking it. But those side effects subsided as I got to my next pill pack. Probably the worst part of this medication is that it caused me to have more and consistent acne than before (which is one reason why I wanted birth control in the first place). Along with acne, Microgestin Fe 1/20 caused the skin above my upper lip to darken (known as melasma). It wasn't too noticeable at first, but as summer went on, and with more sun, it got worse. It was effective as a birth control and good with period regulation, but I wasn't pleased with the negative side effects at all, so I have recently switched over to Gianvi."

"I've been on this pill for 7 months. I'd been having hormonal issues, so I thought a pill with less estrogen in it would help. Perhaps I am allergic to this pill. It upsets my stomach. The last few months, it has been like I have diarrhea. After every meal, I have an urgent need to use the restroom. My period has been unpredictable, heavy at first, then it lightened. One month I didn't get one. Now it's average in length, but my back aches, and I feel tired. I break out twice a month with mild acne. I have a 3-4 day window where I feel like having sex, and my body will respond. Other times I want to have sex, but I am dry, and my body is slow to respond. I am moody, easy to cry, and anger. My boobs itch, I get bloated, and I'm losing hair like crazy!"

For Birth Control "I have been on this pill for almost 1 year. It’s the first BC pill I’ve ever taken, and it regulated my periods. I used to only get my period about 6-8 times a year, and this pill helped with that. I took it every day on time, and it’s very effective at preventing pregnancy. I didn’t get any bad side effects, which is great. I did, however, gain 10 lbs, and I’m not complaining because I needed it, and now I’m at a steady weight. I just switched to Junel Fe, and now I’m sad because Microgestin changed my life and made me feel more confident."

For Birth Control "When I originally took Microgestin 1/20 by Watson, it was amazing (particularly after the first couple of months of taking when my body got used to it). My breasts went up a cup size, and there were little to no side effects. Lighter periods. No pregnancy. WIN! THEN, after almost two years, a dark cloud called Actavis became the new manufacturer and shattered my love for Microgestin. Something changed in the formula because I was suddenly sick during the first week of each new pack to the point that I'd throw up at times. Random cramping. Gained about a pound a week - not a deal breaker, but still sucks. HEAVY, exhausting 2-3 day periods. Two side effects worsened over time: melasma and mood swings. Needless to say, it's goodbye time. Beware!"

For Birth Control "I was on Microgestin for about 3 years. Over the past year, I started to get extremely bad headaches during the sugar pill week. I took extra strength Tylenol the entire week, twice a day, and it still didn't make my headaches go away. I also would feel very lightheaded and nauseous. I had to leave work early, it was bad. The only good thing was I've had the same box of tampons for the entire year. I barely had a period. Oh yeah, I also got high pigmentation right above my lips. They call it a 'pregnancy mask,' but you can get it with certain birth control. It is very dark, and it is difficult to hide with makeup! I'm not a big fan of having a weird skin mustache, so I went off it."
