For Birth Control "I started taking this a month ago, and my skin has cleared up quite a bit, but the downsides are too many. I have had breakthrough bleeding (which was expected, so not such an issue), but extreme mood changes within just a few weeks. I feel negative constantly and so unbelievably tired, the worst part of all is the nausea. I am nauseous all the time and am having a really hard time doing normal things, like working out. I did not gain any weight and have lost my appetite due to the nausea. I went on this medication to help with migraines and admittedly have had fewer, but the other side effects aren't worth it."

For Birth Control "I've been on this for a little over a month. The first pack was a little rough. Spotting, nighttime nausea, some bloating, breast tenderness, I felt tired, more anxiety than usual, and just blah. I never had a breakout, though, and my skin is prone to hormonal zits. However, as the month went by, I got better, and now starting my second pack, I have had zero side effects. Hopefully, it stays that way. I'm satisfied with it so far :)"

For Birth Control "I have been on Microgestin Fe for about 4 months. I got on it because I was getting the Depo every 3 months, and I stopped shedding my lining completely. So, my doctor put me on this. It has its pros and cons. My biggest problem is how sore and tender my breasts get. Lately, I've experienced nausea, normally at night. My periods come with very heavy cramping. Although it has protected me from pregnancy, which is an upside, this pill just is not for me."

For Birth Control "I read a lot of reviews, so was so scared 'cause it seemed like a bad pill, but honestly, I love it so much. The only side effect I have is dizziness and nausea, but they are minimal. After that, I feel good. I have been on this pill for a week. Today I will report after I finish my pack. By the way, this is the first birth control pill I have ever taken."

For Birth Control "Growing up, my periods were always irregular. First, they came randomly throughout the year and lasted about 7 days, with minimal cramps. I'd probably have 3 cycles a year. Then, I experienced the polar opposite. I would have a period for 3 months at a time, then stop the rest of the year. Things worsened, and 3 months became 6, so I reached out to a doctor, and they suggested this. Now, my periods are regular, light, and short (4-5 days), with no cramps, but I will still get this one bump under my chin (I've experienced this same bump before Microgestin). This isn't a problem. It typically goes away, and my skin is back to normal until next month. I've noticed that I get food cravings now. All in all, I've had a good experience. No nausea, pain, or bad acne."

For Birth Control "I have been on this pill for a week now. I am starting to experience some dizziness and nausea, but the #1 side effect for me is definitely an increase in appetite. I also noticed my breasts are getting fuller. Acne is clearing up, which I do love, however, I have been noticing I've been having diarrhea. I am not sure if it's from the pill, but that's the only concern I have. I will probably contact my doctor. But other than that, I don't really have any complaints about this pill. Oh, also I feel super dehydrated lately."

For Birth Control "This pill might work well for younger women (late teens). I took Microgestin at 16 and had no problems with it. It worked great, but now retaking it in my mid-twenties, I experienced insane emotional breakdowns with this birth control. Those side effects are real! I have taken 2 other types of birth control (Loestrin and Depo), and neither gave me bouts of intense crying. Very unpleasant, and I had to stop taking it. I also experienced nausea and tummy aching if I took this pill without food. I think at 16 my body tolerated the excess estrogen differently. Now in full adulthood, my system reacts terribly to this birth control. Emotional breakdown and super intense crying is a real side effect."

For Birth Control "I began this birth control when I was 17, and my experience wasn't pleasant. I began taking Microgestin Fe 1/20 in June 2015. When I first began the pill, I had pretty bad nausea and was extremely emotional for the first month. In my second month, I became depressed and began to have anxiety attacks for just about everything. When my boyfriend and I would have relations, he would tell me I was shedding more hair than normal. I paid more attention to it, and my scalp began to hurt as if I had my hair in a ponytail and just took it out. Every time I'd shower or brush my hair, chunks would come out. By the third month, I had lost about 30% of my hair and had noticeable bald spots. Not a pleasant experience. Life got better when I stopped taking it."

For Birth Control "I started taking this in May, and I have not had a period since. Mine were awful, missing school and socializing with family and friends. I have not gained any weight. I have been moody, and my breasts are very tender 24/7 and have gotten bigger. I would recommend this birth control for anyone who had to go through heck for a week. I do take mine at night, so I don't get nauseated at all!"

For Birth Control "I mainly chose this brand because it is 100% covered by my insurance. I have been using it for about 10 months now, and I have absolutely no issues. No side effects at all (knock on wood). No weight gain, no breakouts, no nausea, no babies."

For Birth Control "I've been on this birth control for two weeks. My breasts are so sore it's ridiculous, and I'm very nauseous, but the reason I started this birth control was because I had a very high sex drive and I wanted a birth control that would calm it down. Well, this definitely works, a little too well. I don't want it at all anymore. But on the plus side, I've been craving fruits and veggies, the thought of any kind of meat grosses me out. Weird, right? I like this pill if the nausea would go away and my breasts would stop being so tender!"

For Birth Control "Been on this pill for almost a month, however, I started my period two weeks early, but I'll chalk that up to always being irregular and my hormones trying to balance. Don't really have a complaint except night nausea. Literally, as soon as the sun goes down, I'm sick to my stomach like no other. Gonna just tough it out since my insurance doesn't want to cover anything else. Anyone have ideas about what to do to help with the nausea?"

For Birth Control "I'm 21, and this is my first experience with oral contraceptives. It's only been 7 days on this pill, but I'm impatiently nervous about it. I take it at 8 a.m. every morning, and I get bouts of nausea all day. I'm bloated, and I retain water like crazy. I've always been prone to the occasional breakout, but this cystic acne is out of control, and it has made my skin very sensitive to touch. On the plus side, my sex drive is great, and my mood hasn't changed much. I suppose only time will tell whether my weight and acne will sort themselves out."

For Birth Control "I didn't think this pill was that bad, nor was it my favorite. My doctor stopped carrying Lutera, which I'd been on for about a year and loved, and they said Tarina was basically the same. I don't like it as much-my skin isn't as perfect as it was on Lutera, and some months I have spotting for 2 weeks straight-but I have not experienced any weight gain or nausea on this pill. It also hasn't affected my mood the same way Lutera did-I was so angry on Lutera, any little thing sent me into a rage! But because of the spotting, this pill is kind of a pain. I tried to skip my period on Tarina by skipping the brown pills and going straight to white, and that seemed to wreak havoc on my period, so I don't suggest doing that."

For Birth Control "Only been on it a week. After taking it, I feel severely nauseous and have vomited. I have lost 10 pounds. And my mood swings are so bad. I have no appetite or interest in food, period. And have missed or left university three times in the past 5 days."

For Birth Control "I've been on this birth control for almost 5 months now, and initially the only side effect I experienced was extremely sore and tender breasts. I've been nauseous all the time, and I hate even the thought of eating food. My appetite sucks. I have to take anti-nausea medicine daily. My irregular periods are regulated and light."

For Birth Control "Okay, first thing's first, this pill does do the one job I take it for, birth control, so it gets points for that. And my periods are like clockwork and usually pretty light, with minimal cramping, which is a plus. However, I experience constant nausea during the first active week of every pack, and during the placebo pills, I'm not sure why, but it really sucks, especially having it all day, every day. Other than that, this pill is pretty decent."

For Birth Control "Overall satisfied. Makes periods predictable. I've always had short periods with bad cramps, took away most cramps but still have pain and soreness. I've noticed no weight change, although my appetite changed a lot. Still gives me nausea and headaches. But overall satisfied."

For Birth Control "I'm into my second week of month two on this pill. I am 21 years old and have used the shot, the implant, YAZ, Ocella, Ortho-Cept, and now Microgestin. I have been diagnosed with migraine headaches, and my doctor has been working with me on finding a birth control whose side effects don't outweigh the good. With everything else, I have had immense headaches and nausea, but with this one, so far, so good. Really light period, larger breasts, less mood swings."

For Birth Control "I've been taking this pill for 2.5 years and am completely satisfied. The first month taking it I had mood swings and nausea, but this is normal! It's the side effects that I feel most birth controls come with. I rate this a 9/10 because this pill has kept me from pregnancy and cleared my breakouts on my back and chest, but not my face. I can hide my chest and back, but not so much my face! Great contraceptive. I would recommend this to a friend or family member. The 'periods' are SUPER light, if anything, you probably won't spot during the sugar pill week. There are many negative feedback about this pill, and I wanted to share my good experience with this birth control. Give it a month or so to kick in, and it'll be worth it!"

For Acne "As we all know, birth control has different effects on everyone. As for myself and the 2 other people I know who have taken this pill in the past, it has been nothing short of miserable for all 3 of us. I've never related to others when they talk about mood swings during menstruation until I took this pill. Except now my mood swings can happen at any point, and I constantly have anxiety. On top of this, I am constantly nauseous, have random chest pain, and I've developed the worst acne I've had in my entire life. It's a good day if I have one or fewer breakouts appear on my chin area. As stated before, this pill has different effects on everyone, but as for me, I can honestly say it has impacted my life and not in a good way."

For Birth Control "I have been taking it for 5 months (have only been sexually active for the last). The most recent three months, I have always started my bleeding between the 2nd and 3rd week and don't bleed at all on the inactive pills. I have mild cramping and nausea/feelings similar to my menses during the bleeding. I haven't asked my doctor about this yet. Other than that, I have experienced no mood swings, no weight gain, no unpleasant symptoms. My acne cleared up. I do find vaginal dryness to be an issue, but I am not willing to chalk it up to the pill yet since both I and my husband are new at this. Also, my breasts are relatively tender. I did think they had grown a bit even before I read all the reviews, but the change is hardly perceptible."

For Birth Control "Every woman is different, I understand. IMO, and five months on this pill, it has more cons than pros for my body. Main being vomiting every day while taking it, nausea, gas, mood swings, and anxiety that feels so much like panic attacks. I gain so much weight, which I don't mind. But the vomiting is getting out of hand, that I puked so hard I bled a bit. Taking this kind of makes me personally paranoid about taking any birth control..."

For Birth Control "Yes, everyone's body is different, but while taking the Microgestin pill, I had a lighter period, which was a plus. But I also felt really nauseous at times, tender boobs, bloating, weight gain, and a very low sex drive, which was the main reason I stopped taking it."

For Birth Control "I've been on this pill almost 8 months, and I have to say, I also have mixed reviews. I haven't gotten pregnant, so it has proven effective in that sense. I've also gained weight, experienced the migraines and nausea others have mentioned, now have lighter periods, and get frequent bacterial vaginosis. It is definitely as bad as it sounds. I've also had some trouble with moisture down there during sex. Being that my cycle was irregular before, I wanted something to prevent pregnancy but also allow for a monthly menstrual cycle. This was more than I bargained for. I think I'm going to stop taking the pill and look into other options."
