For Birth Control "I was given this prescription to help with VERY mild acne at the time, but mostly to help with my irregular cycle and unusually long periods. The first month I was taking this my period lasted about 4 or 5 weeks after, much longer than the usual week/week and a half. I also noticed how my acne specifically on my chin and jawline worsened, which was disappointing as I was sure this pill would help get rid of my acne not make it worse. My cramps are terrible around this time, and my breasts hurt so much it’s nearly unbearable. I am 4 months in and I am never taking this again, the only good thing about this is that after the first period the rest are short and regulated. Would not recommend this to anyone unless you can put up with the pain and cramps and acne."

For Endometriosis "My doctor initially had me taking Loestrin just like a regular pill, to help keep my horrendously painful periods a little shorter and more predictable. However, with endometriosis, even a 4 day period was too much for me. I would be doubled over in pain. It hurt to walk around, sit and forget about even doing anything else. It got to the point I was so terrified of getting my period that I had to do something. So my doctor decided to keep me on Loestrin, but told me to skip the placebo pills and just keep taking the pills continuously. Pro: I have not had a period in months and I am so thankful. Cons: my breasts are constantly heavy and sore, and my nipples sometimes hurt to touch. Small price to pay for endometriosis relief, though."

For Birth Control "From the reviews I've read, it sounds like if you were on Yaz%u201A Yasmin, or Ocella as I was, this is a great pill to switch to. I am on my second week of my second pack and my first period was almost nonexistent! Watch out for pregnancy panics because of little to no periods. Haven't experienced any negative side effects. I have noticed clearer skin, increased sex drive, and the start of increased cup size, my boobs feel heavier and fuller!"

For Polycystic Ovary Syndrome "I am 21 years old and started taking Loestrin Fe in the beginning of September. I have heard that birth control is supposed to make you gain weight, but I've actually been steadily losing weight, and that's without taking my Metformin regularly (which I am now back on). My breasts also continue to grow in size, and are quite tender for about a week leading up to my period. I get some cramps but they don't last very long. I had pretty bad PMS for a couple days before my first period, but once I started my period I was fine. Before taking this regularly I was on progesterone for ten days once every three months but had not gotten a menstrual cycle from it for three doses. For PCOS, this is great."

For Endometriosis "I have horrible pain during my periods due to endometriosis and I've tried many other drugs to help control it. In August of 2011 I had the laparoscopic surgery to remove some of the endometriosis, this surgery did not help me one bit. So my Doctor put me on Loestrin just recently (Feb. 2012) and the first few days the only side effect I had was nausea and some slight stomach cramping. About 2 weeks into it, I started bleeding - not spotting - not as heavy as period, I'd say it was a good mix. Now I'm having constant cramps, they're pretty intense. They feel somewhat like my pre-period cramps which are terrible due to the endo. I'm just waiting for my period to come and hoping it will be better. But so far the side effects have not been worth it."

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "I started Loestrin 24 Fe about two weeks ago, and ever since I have had random spotting at least once a day. It took away my cramps and pains from my period but my period wont go away now. After I finish this pack I'll see what happens and if I should switch or not."

For Birth Control "I am so glad I found this web site. I have been having horrible breast pain and was actually pretty scared until I saw the side effects some women have had taking this pill. I personally was going to have my doctor change this medication due to my having NO sex drive at all. I have always had a super high sex drive and I went to not wanting to have sex at all. I have been on Loestrin for a little over six months. The symptoms are not getting better for me. Just worse. I have gained about 8lbs and I do have some up and down mood swings. I never thought about the little things this pill could be responsible for. Thank you to everyone that posted."

For Acne "I've ALSO never left a review for anything in my life, but reading these responses was a lifesaver for me, so I need to pay it forward. I have been on nuvaring, yaz & orthotricyclen lo over the past 15 years and my skin has been pretty much flawless my whole life (I'm 29). In April 2016 I told my doctor I wanted to switch to whichever birth control had the lowest dose of hormones, as I figured that was just the healthiest thing to do. After a week on this garbage I started having HORRIBLE cystic acne with whiteheads on my chin and some on my jawline. My diet and exercise routine are super solid. I don't eat dairy or gluten. I'm not on any other medications. So it's pretty obvious the loloestrin FE is the culprit here."

For Birth Control "It has been about a month since I've begun taking this medication. I knew from the start my body would begin to feel different but I did not know the actual severity until now. I was diagnosed with endometriosis and possibly PCOS so my doctor put me on birth control as the first step. However, I have gotten a horrible acne spill all over my forehead ( I rarely got acne prior to this medication). On top of the acne, I have the weirdest mood swings. Some days I will be super happy while other days I just want to bury myself in my blanket and cry all day. I am hoping my doctor prescribes another type of BC that could help in all!"

For Acne "I started Loestrin 24 a few months ago and was nervous about some side effects I've always heard of from the pill. I was nauseous for only the 1st week, and only got my period for 2 days and had zero cramps even though I used to have to take 3 Advil for the 1st 3 days of my period. No weight gain, only in my breasts (grew a cup size). HOWEVER, this pill made me break out horribly. I've always broken out a little before my period, but while on this I got multiple huge cysts on my chin and under my nose before my period and my cheeks which have never broken out before were breaking out as well. Really no side effects but the acne was enough to make me go off of it."

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "I am a 25 year old woman who has been on and off birth control for the last nine years. Being on various pills so long had KILLED my libido to the point that I forgot what it felt like to be aroused, and I recently began to bleed constantly between periods. I went to the gynecologist, and he put me on Loestrin 24 FE. I, off course, went home and researched it. The reviews I saw made me wary, but I started the regimen on Sunday, as directed. Granted, I did get sick (read: threw up) the second day, but after that, I had no problems whatsoever. And you know what? I stopped spotting, and best of all, my libido skyrocketed. I'm at the end of my first month of pills, so we'll see how it goes next month, but for now I couldn't be happier."

For Birth Control "It was convenient having the diminished periods. However, when I was on this pill it put me into a horrible major depression. I had never before experienced any mental trauma or illness, and as soon as I realized that it might have been this birth control and took myself off of it I was basically back to normal in about two weeks. It affects everyone differently, but I also had found out that friend of mine was on this pill and she, too was uncharacteristically depressed. "

For Birth Control "I'm currently at the end of my third pack of these and so far it's not so bad. This is the first time I've been on "the pill". The first two months I had a bit of spotting but I didn't get my period... so of course I had a mini panic attack. I didn't notice much else, and the second month was the same. This last month I noticed I did gain a couple pounds but not much to worry about since it seems it mostly just went to my boobs and back side, can't say I mind too much. Also the spotting has pretty much almost gone away and I still haven't had my period. I know I can't be pregnant seeing as I use other methods of contraception as well but it would be nice to have at least a days worth of a period to calm my nerves."

For Birth Control "I was on loestrin for about 5 years until I decided to take a break and get off the pill. Although my skin was clear and it was effective at basically eliminating my period and most cramping, DO NOT TAKE THIS PILL. It gave me horrible mood swings, anxiety and made me irrational, unreasonable and angry (basically insane) - which I didn't realize until I stopped taking it. I honestly thought I was just me until I got off and felt much more like myself. I've been happy and upbeat ever since."

For Birth Control "I switched from Kariva because I was having pretty bad cramping during my period. I have been on Loestrin for a week. The first 3-4 days I had severe migraines constantly. I was relieved when that passed, but a few days later the insomnia began. I have a horrible time falling asleep and when I can fall asleep it's a very light sleep and I feel exhausted all day which is terrible since I have a 14 month old to care for. I'm talking to my doctor and either switching back to Kariva (I'd rather have cramps than this) or using another method. I'm over pills. Can someone please make a pill for men? It's so unfair that we have to put our bodies through this to prevent pregnancy."

For Birth Control "Only thing I can say about the Loestrin 24 FE is AWESOME. I have been on these pills for 6yrs now and in the beginning my period lasted 2 to 3 days and as time went on it decreased even more and went to 24hrs and my period was over. Later on it changed again and I came on and was off in 12hrs. Today, I haven't had a period at all I know in yrs. I love these pills but the only downfall is even though I don't come on I still have the mood swings, irritating moments, feeling strange, headaches etc. but at the time when my period would have been ending that's when everything goes away. I did used to worry in the beginning when I completely stopped having a period but now I know its just the way these pills are with my body."

For Birth Control "I’m on the generic version of this pill and it’s the worst thing ever and have been for four months now. I am constantly anxious, depressed, nauseous, and moody. Not to mention I had two yeast infections in this time period from the pill. I’ve never had a yeast infection before. I am constantly dry down there and my boobs are always sore. I didn’t gain weight but I did loose a lot of hair. This pill is suppose to let me have sex and prevent pregnancy when since being on this pill it’s made sex miserable and painful to where I don’t even have sex anymore. Lube doesn’t even make it better."

For Birth Control "I just started taking the pill almost two months now and aside from certain downsides I like it. My periods are so little its basically only spotting and I no longer have any cramps, which I am thankful for because prior I could barely move in peace with them. Only things that are deeply disturbing is the weight gain that I gained in such a small period of time also my breasts have become increasingly sore at all times of the day. I have mood swings every now and again and in the beginning I would get depressed very quickly but that didn't last long. Hope it works for you"

For Birth Control "I've been using Lo Loestrin Fe for about 3 years now. I'm 18 now and started it when I was 15. For the most part my skin was pretty clear. Up until senior year of HS my skin got crazy. Pimples popping up everyday and leaving awful red scars. (My obgyn is putting me on yaz soon) Not excited about that either birth co of all the horrible reviews Ive read. I also have no had a period since starting the pill which Ive really enjoyed. I rate this a 5 because my doctor thinks that the Lo Loestrin is whats causing my acne. But I'm not too convinced."

For Birth Control "I've never had any problems with the length or intensity of my period but on this pill I felt sick all the time, dizzy, anxious, moody and tired. My skin broke out and I had hot flushes. Every 3 days I had cramps and my breasts were tender. I've been running 4-8 miles a day and still gained weight. This pill made me feel like I was pregnant all over again. Not a good choice of pill for me!"

For Polycystic Ovary Syndrome "I am currently TTC and my RE put me on Loestrine 24, I thought it was crazy at first to be put on birth control while TTC but it has worked wonders. I have lost weight and I feel great I dont understand why no one had thought to try this before. My only negative is the breast tenderness OUCH I had a heating pad that I had to use for a week straight. In the end that is a small price to pay for how GREAT I feel and how much I have to gain. I would strongly urge everyone to try this and I hope it works for you."

For Birth Control "So this is my second time on this birth control. When I took it correctly I wouldn't have many periods and never super painful. I'm terribly sensitive to most birth controls. My migraines were so bad they thought I had a tumor. But it was too much estrogen in the birth control. The first time went well but I was taken off of it due migraines again with auras. But later I figured out it was biotin instead. So far I'm 4 months on this and my skin hasn't looked healthier in the past 6 months. My periods are more like two days of light cramping and then brown sludge for 3 to 4 days. I'll gladly take that over other periods for sure. For me this works because it's such a low dose."

For Polycystic Ovary Syndrome "I started taking this medication 25 days ago on the 17th day I already had a period, which I hadn't had one in 4 months. I noticed I've lost a few pounds, but I don't know if that has anything to do with the pill or not. I feel better, and my acne is not so bad now. The only problem is that it says you will have shorter, lighter periods. Well I am on the 8th day of my period and it hasn't been so light. Hopefully this is only my body's response to not having a period for so long, and it won't always be this long."

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "I started taking the pill end of October, I am now on my third week of Loestrin. At first I had minor cramps and breast tenderness which I ignored. Slowly the pill started giving me worst side effects. I gained weight, have major cramps and have been on my period for two weeks.. my normal period lasts 3-4 days. I am not even on the placebo pills yet. I also have major mood swings."

For Birth Control "I am almost done with my first pack of this birth control to help with my irregular & painful periods. It has helped with pain and not caused me any pain BUT I have gotten horrible acne on my chest and chin & my face skin has been super red and itchy. I am so glad to see other people are experiencing this. I will no longer be taking this medicine."
