For Birth Control "I like this pill, Loestrin 24 Fe. I do not have mood swings, weight gain, or acne. So far, it has pretty much stopped my periods each month. I just get very, very light spotting for 2-3 days instead of a full-blown period. I've been on other pills, and I like this one better."

For Birth Control "Well, this is the first month that I have been on Loestrin. I have not gotten any weight gain as with other methods of birth control. I also haven't had any bleeding or spotting between periods. The reason my doctor told me to start taking Loestrin was that I was on Yasmin, and that pill made me have more side effects than Loestrin. With Loestrin, my acne has not broken out, it actually helped me with that. This is my last week for my first pack, and I feel really good with it. Maybe the reason why everyone else is having problems with the pill is because they may take it during the day. My doctor recommended taking it during the night, that way, you won't experience that many side effects."

For Acne "My acne got so bad, and my skin even started peeling. It's caused so many problems, and after trying this for 2 months and reading all these (mostly negative) reviews, today is my last day taking this pill."

For Acne "I have only been on this pill for 4 days now, and I already have noticed large cystic pimples appearing on my cheeks and chin. I have never had perfect skin to begin with, but I have never experienced cystic pimples, nor have I ever broken out on my cheeks. After reading these reviews, I am glad to know that I am not the only one experiencing this. I started taking birth control to help with my heavy and irregular periods, but I have ultimately decided to stop using this pill due to the negative effects it has already had on my skin. I personally do not recommend this pill, especially if you are starting it with the intentions of clearing your skin."

For Acne "I didn't notice at first why my acne was getting better, then I realized it was the birth control. After I stopped the pill, I noticed huge bumps on my chin and around my cheeks, and acne on my chest. I recently restarted back on the pill, and my skin is all of a sudden clear again, so it works for acne very well for me. Everyone seems to be different."

For Birth Control "I’ve been on this pill for about 4 years. I can honestly say I haven’t noticed any major problems like I’m reading from other women. I have been on birth control since I was 16, so it’s hard to say what’s normal and what’s abnormal for me. I don’t have acne problems. Occasionally annoying pimples. My periods are nonexistent at this point. I don’t bleed at all, which kind of bothers me because it’s not to get the “you’re not pregnant” notification from your period bleeding. I don’t get bloated. Mood swings? Eh, nothing out of the ordinary. I have my moments just like anyone else. I’m about to switch to the copper IUD because I feel like I’ve been on hormones for too long and fear the long-term consequences. Very nervous to switch considering I’ve had zero problems."

For Birth Control "I am 24 and recently sought out a birth control pill because I will be getting married in March. I was put on Loestrin 24 back in December '09. Thankfully, I did not read all of the scary internet blogs until afterwards, or I probably wouldn't have tried it. I have not had mood swings (in fact, I feel I am a less moody person now). It is easy to keep up with, and seeing that I am a first-time BC user, I fell in love with knowing when my menstrual cycle would occur. The only negative side effects that have occurred since taking the pill: I gained 10 pounds the first two weeks of taking this pill. I've had a hard time shedding those pounds, but at least it has not increased as of yet. Secondly, my boobs hurt like crazy. I can hardly touch them, they are so sore."

For Acne "I am 17, and have tried a plethora of birth control pills all to try to help my acne. First was Ortho Tri-Cyclen. I tried it for a month and became depressed, so I stopped. Next was Yaz. It was amazing. My skin was crystal clear in 3 months, and even cystic acne on my back completely disappeared. The only problem: 10 pounds of weight gain after 6 months. I stopped Yaz and tried Alesse. It made me depressed. Next was Loestrin. I have been on Loestrin for 5 months now. For the first three months, my skin was perfect. I had no weight gain, and my boobs went up a cup size. After the third month, though, my acne came back. I just finished my last pack today, and I am going to try Kariva next. If that doesn't work, I am taking the risk and going to take Accutane."

For Birth Control "I've been on this pill for a month. I specifically asked my doctor for a low-dose pill because I have had really bad experiences with birth control in the past, from weight gain to ridiculous mood swings, PMS, my sex drive gone, to constant spotting. I am a healthy, slim, active 37-year-old. This pill is the BEST! It's like I am not on anything at all. I have not gained any weight. No acne, no mood swings, and my sex drive has increased, actually. The only reason why I can't give it a 10 is because it is a little pricey, and one thing I was not expecting was the boob growth! I was already a 32DD, and I am popping out of those bras already. My man is not complaining though...lol."

For Birth Control "I started this birth control because it was low in estrogen, and all the other birth controls I have tried would make me bleed constantly. I was only 2 weeks in, and I started to bleed again, so I stopped. My issue, though, is the TERRIBLE acne this has caused me. I'm relieved to see that there are others who share the same issue. I have never had acne this severe, I am so embarrassed to show my skin. I seriously just want to hide, I feel disgusting. I've broken out so badly on my chin, back, and slightly on my chest. I went to the dermatologist to seek relief, but it's still going to take much time to heal. This has by far been the worst birth control I have ever taken. I would not recommend this."

For Birth Control "I used to take Microgestin with no problems. I was switched to the generic Loestrin and took it for close to two years before I realized that it was the cause of my anxiety, depression, anger, mood swings, hypertension, the list goes on. I never struggled with any of these issues before when I took the Microgestin, but I just thought it was stress-related. Since I had been on birth control for years with no problems, I never suspected the pill. I stopped taking the pill in March, and I can finally say I'm feeling like myself again. I wish I would've put the pieces together sooner and stopped taking this pill when I first noticed symptoms."

For Birth Control "Give the pill a chance. After taking it for a week, or even a few months, you simply cannot judge how it will affect you. I have been on this pill for about a year, and at first, I hated it. It made me nauseous, my boobs hurt, and all that, but after a while, that disappeared. Only a few things have remained annoying about this medicine, like irritability, cramps, and tiredness while menstruating, but isn't that what happens anyway? I have had no weight change, no headaches, no pimples, no change in sex drive, and nothing else! Plus, the most important thing is that I have not gotten pregnant. 9/10"

For Birth Control "I was on Lo Loestrin for 3 months. During those 3 months, I developed horrible acne. I’ve never had issues with acne, so when I started getting huge breakouts that wouldn’t go away all along my chin and jawline, I wasn’t too thrilled. No matter what acne products I used, the breakouts would not go away. Additionally, this stopped my periods entirely. Before, I was taking the pill Junel, and I was having light, regular periods that indicated I wasn’t pregnant, which is always a relief. I had no way of knowing with this birth control since I never had a period. My face is starting to finally clear up after a month of being off of this pill, and I finally had my period again. I would not recommend this pill at all."

For Polycystic Ovary Syndrome "I was put on Loestrin 24 Fe because I have polycystic ovarian syndrome. The only side effects I have had are tenderness of breasts. As long as it is taken at the same time every day, there aren't any side effects. Three-day periods that are light beat no period and crippling cramps and mood swings, this beats that by miles!"

For Birth Control "I was on Loestrin 24 Fe for about 2 months. I'm active and have a very busy lifestyle, but this pill just made me feel like a lunatic. I felt like I was on the verge of crying all the time, really depressed, really anxious, and really tired. Serious mood swings, headaches, breast tenderness, acne - it also made me starving - like permanent PMS. I didn't want to work out and I didn't want to socialize. I gained maybe 5 lbs, but that's probably from not working out and eating way more. It did make my heavy, crampy periods light and short, and my breasts noticeably bigger. Birth control is different for everyone, I'm very in tune with my cycle, when I'm ovulating, and very sensitive to a shift in my hormones. This one was just not right for me."

For Acne "Looking over these reviews, it's such a relief to know that I am not alone in dealing with the horrible, embarrassing, and painful cystic acne this has caused me. Until starting, my (then) clear, flawless skin was the thing I liked best about myself. However, within a month, this had truly ruined my skin forever. Excessive and deep cystic acne that did not respond to any dermatologist treatments sent me into a spiral of low self-esteem. Gyno insisted I stick with it for 6 months to see if it evened out. It did not! Instead, what I've been left with is unresponsive acne for the past two years (yes...1.5 years after I stopped taking this) because of this horrible pill. Also, did not work properly and gave me 2 periods/month :) Stay away!"

For Menstrual Disorders "I was taking Yaz for 3 years. My Ob/Gyn took me off and put me on this one. I have been taking it for 2 months, and until I came across this site, I wondered what was going on with my body! I have gained 15 pounds, no periods at all, bigger breasts, very bad headaches, anxiety, leg cramps, insomnia, and very moody. I feel like a whole different person, and I don't like it. I loved Yaz. I was taking a birth control to help my never-ending periods but have decided I don't like what this pill is doing to me, and I don't plan on taking it anymore."

For Birth Control "I had nothing but wonderful experiences with Loestrin. No breaking out, weight gain, loss of sex drive, or mood swings. I did get pregnant on this birth control after about 7 or 8 months.... however, I did miss two days of it due to running out and my pharmacy being closed over the weekend. So be very careful to not miss a single day, and you should be perfectly fine. It definitely helped with my endometriosis pains. I stopped taking it for a few months and had to miss work each month because the pains were so awful. I got back on to it ASAP and do not experience those anymore. 10/10 recommend this birth control."

For Polycystic Ovary Syndrome "Just started taking my second pack. Already amazed with the results. First month, my normally heavy (pad and tampon change every two hours) period was so light, I only had to wear panty liners. I am no longer in crippling pain. The first month was a little tough, but the pain was nothing like it was. I feel a little sick every now and again. I haven't experienced any weight gain, just a lot of bloating around the midsection, but I bloat a lot when I'm on my period, so that doesn't bother me. I assume that will change as time goes by. I don't feel excessively hungry except during the time that would have been my period. I have noticed my breasts have grown, not mad at that!"

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "This is my first month on Loestrin. I was prescribed this medication for uterine fibroids and cysts. Before, my bleeding was nonstop for months. The first day I started this pill, my bleeding stopped. I have had no spotting at all so far. I have, however, had terrible mood swings, anxiety, and I feel like I may be depressed."

For Birth Control "This was the very first birth control pill I went on. I took it for about a year, and it was the worst thing that has ever happened to me. I was so depressed I would lie in the dark all day and cry for no reason. I didn’t know why I was feeling this way, and as a 19-year-old college student at the time, I knew something was wrong but just felt so disconnected with the world. The pill didn’t make me gain any weight, but it made me feel puffy, if that makes any sense. My boobs hurt soooo badly taking this pill, I had to hold them just walking around. The day after I decided to stop taking this pill, I already felt different. I would NEVER recommend this pill to anyone. I’m crying just typing this, remembering how terrible it made me feel. I’ve had no history of anxiety or depression before taking this pill. While the pill gave me amazingly clear skin, it is not nearly enough of a benefit to continue taking the pill."

For Acne "This pill is a nightmare! I have had clear skin all of my life and enjoyed makeup as a hobby. Now I absolutely hate it because I feel like it is an obligation to cover up the disgusting, painful cysts that this pill has caused! My self-esteem is extremely low, I don't remember the last time I saw my real face and felt confident. I will be seeing my doctor very soon to get off of this terrible, terrible, terrible pill!"

For Endometriosis "I've been on Loestrin 24 Fe for two years now. I have a moderate case of endometriosis, and this has been fantastic. The first two, maybe three months on it were a little iffy, I experienced nausea and emotional problems, but significantly less pain. Everything's been peachy ever since. I only need to take one or two Midols to get through each period."

For Birth Control "Well, almost a year on this BC, and at first I thought it was great. Needless to say, I really didn't pay attention. Four to six months in, now rethinking back, I started having anxiety?! Never before experienced this. My acne took a toll, and I’m almost a year on this, and I’m not happy at all. I have no reason to feel unhappy. Anxiety through the roof, chest pains, constant acne, oilier skin. Now reading the reviews after trying absolutely everything I could. Didn’t think birth control could even make you feel this depressed... sounds like I’m not the only one."

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "The first month was okay, but this is my second month of use, and I started bleeding (moderately) in the second week of the pill pack! No fair! I should be in the 'no bleeding zone' right now! I am less than thrilled. I feel gross, bloated, and have cramping and low back pain. I am only on the pill to keep regular, to avoid anemia, but this month it's doing just the opposite! I don't know if I should stay on it and give it more time, or go to something else. Ugh!"
