For Birth Control "I had a baby about a year ago and started taking this pill in October of this year. The first month was fine, had a period, but it only lasted about 3 days (happy with that). I didn't gain any weight, in fact, I lost a few lbs. I was never moody and never really had any side effects, but then I got to the second month and I hardly had a period at all. There was about a day of spotting, and then that was it, so of course, I panicked that I was pregnant. I'm not saying Loestrin was bad, but I'd rather have the assurance that when I start my period, then I know I'm not pregnant."

For Birth Control "I started Loestrin 24 about 5 months ago, and I LOVE it! My boyfriend and I regularly have unprotected sex, and it has done its job so far. The first month of taking Loestrin, I admit, was hell. I was not myself at all. However, I haven't gained any weight, and my periods are super light and last only about 2-3 days. After the first month, I was right back to normal. If a birth control pill, patch, or whatever doesn't feel great the first month, my suggestion is to stick it out until at least the third month because your body will eventually adjust. Also, because Loestrin is such a low dose of hormones, you MUST take it around the same time every day. If not, you will bleed a bit within like 8 hours of a missed pill, and it's annoying."

For Birth Control "I've been on Loestrin 24 FE for 5 months. I had a few bothersome side effects and a few side effects that weren't so bothersome. In the second month, I developed this weird anxiety and had this constant sense of nervousness. I would also have very brief moments of dizziness. For example, if I turned my head too fast, I'd feel a flash of dizziness. For nearly 4 months, my breasts were sore, but I could deal with that. I spotted for the first month, but I could deal with that, too. I never had any nausea, weight gain, acne, hair loss, or skin discoloration. Now that I've gotten over the side effects, I'm pretty pleased and wouldn't want to switch."

For Birth Control "I've been using Loestrin 24 FE for almost a year and couldn't be happier with it. I'm 18, and it's the first pill I've tried, so I guess I got lucky with it. I experienced no side effects, even during the first pack. The main objective is always not to get pregnant, and obviously, it's doing the job it should in that respect. However, it also completely eliminated my periods. I'll get a small amount of bleeding every few months (maybe half a day's worth of spotting), but that's all. The only downside is that it's expensive, but worth it."

For Birth Control "I'm 28 years old. I've been pregnant and delivered without complication. I have used birth control in the past but not for over 7 years. I just finished my first pack of Loestrin 24 Fe, I try to take it after 7 pm. I spotted twice and had a very light period for 3 days. I'm into pack 2, not pregnant (my goal), and I feel fine."

For Acne "I started taking Lo Loestrin Fe about 2 months ago, and I am breaking out horribly around my mouth and chin. I have always had acne but not that severe, and it actually cleared up in the past year with the occasional pimple here and there. Now I have cysts and whiteheads all over my chin that are not going away. I am finishing this pack and then calling my doctor to switch."

For Birth Control "I began taking Loestrin 24 almost a year ago. I'm 33 and had not been on birth control since college because it made me horribly sick for months. My cycle had been regular for years, but I experienced ultra-heavy bleeding for 5-8 days and cramps that were so bad that I nearly destroyed my liver from the ibuprofen I would consume. Loestrin 24 has changed my world. I have had no side effects, my skin has actually cleared up (I have cystic acne), I have a period that literally lasts a few hours, and the only cramps I have are mild and last for less than an hour. They are more of an 'indicator' that I started. I guess my only issue with it is really MY problem... I sometimes forget to take it, but setting an alarm on my phone solved that."

For Polycystic Ovary Syndrome "I started the pill after being diagnosed with polycystic ovarian syndrome when I was 18. My doctor put me on Yasmin. I gained a lot of weight, and my cup size went from barely C to D/almost DD. I switched to Loestrin 24 FE to make my breast 'normal' size again. It worked, and I went back to my normal weight, too. The first month, I was spotty and moody; the pill timing is sensitive. But since then, everything has been smooth. I have a light period (only about 3 days) with minor cramps every month, which sure beats the inconsistent, week-long ones with heavy bleeding and paralyzing cramps that resulted from PCOS. Overall, after almost 3 years, Loestrin has worked great for me and made my menstrual cycle a breeze. As long as you are consistent, it should work fine."

For Birth Control "I've been taking this pill for five months. I wanted a contraceptive pill that would control my acne and that would have a lower dosage of hormones as well (I was taking Yaz before). I happen to be very sensitive to hormones. With this pill, though, I got cystic acne on my forehead, on my temples, on my cheeks, on my chin, and on my neck. I have acne-prone skin, but I have never had such bad acne since I started this pill! Also, my mood swings are a rollercoaster, and I can feel sad and cry for no reason in the middle of the day and feel happy again right after that. I am done with this pill and am going to find another birth control solution."

For Menstrual Disorders "Loestrin is VERY effective as a contraceptive. However, I am on the pill because of irregular and painful periods. The pill is good, but what bothers me is that my monthly cycle, though tolerable, is COMPLETELY UNPREDICTABLE. The first few months I had a period, short and light. Then my period disappeared, and I thought I was pregnant. My doctor told me this is normal with this pill. After two or three months of no period, it came back preceded by cramping and severe nausea -- I thought I was pregnant AGAIN! The number of days between periods is not consistent. This cycle, I was exhausted, nauseous, and moody a week and a half before the bleeding began. Now I am having nausea, though physical symptoms usually disappear a day or two after bleeding."

For Birth Control "I’m on my third month of Loestrin, and so far I can’t complain much. It’s definitely improved my acne. I still get a few breakouts right before my period starts, but this is still a dramatic improvement from the pizza face I was dealing with before starting this pill. I’m also still spotting the week before my period, but it seems to be going away slowly. Other than that, no mood swings, my weight is still the same, and periods are lighter and shorter with minimal cramping. If things keep going the way they are, I’ll probably stick to this birth control."

For Birth Control "I have tried several other birth control pills in my lifetime, and none have ever done for me what Loestrin does. I suffer from extremely heavy periods, and no other pill has ever been able to help except for this one. I get NO PERIODS on this pill. To go from being unable to leave the house for a week to NO PERIOD AT ALL is beyond words for me. Not only is this medicine effective for birth control, it also allows for a shorter period, or none at all! I love this, and I will never switch to anything else."

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "I started taking this pill 3 months ago for abnormal bleeding, clots, thick endometrial wall, not ovulating. Ever since I had my little girl (now 1 1/2), I have been constantly bleeding. We tried progesterone, D&C, neither of which helped me whatsoever. I reluctantly finally tried birth control (which has always made things worse). Loestrin 24 FE has done wonders for me. My periods finally got back to 7 days a week. No big blood clots. Acne went away. Best of all, the weight that just kept inching on in the past 1 1/2 just started melting off within the first 3 weeks of taking this miracle pill. I have lost over 10 pounds in the last 3 months and have not done a thing. (I gave up trying to lose anything 7 months ago when I was trying)."

For Birth Control "This is the first birth control I have been on, so I don't have much to compare it to, but I have been on it for 2 years. I got on Loestrin 24 Fe because I was sexually active and had irregular periods. Since I have been on the pill, I have had shorter, lighter periods and very minimal cramping (if at all). I am very pleased with this pill. I don't even have spotting between periods. If taken correctly, I feel that this birth control is very effective. I have not had any side effects that I can even think of. I have always been average weight, and Loestrin 24 Fe has not caused me to gain/lose anything. To be completely honest, I have never had an issue with acne, so I can't really express whether or not it has helped in that manner."

For Birth Control "I have been taking this pill for two months now, and my experience has been pleasant. I experienced a lighter period the second month, and my cramping was less severe. I did notice a significant increase in vaginal fluids throughout the day, and it actually increased my sex drive (not a problem in my opinion). My breasts grew one cup size on Loestrin 24 Fe as well, again, not a problem for me. My only complaint is the noticeable decrease in my appetite, which I find frustrating because I am already pretty skinny. So far, I've lost 5 pounds since being on the pill. My side effects are definitely tolerable, though, and I'm not pregnant, so that's nice, too!"

For Birth Control "I am not happy with this medication, Loestrin 24 Fe. I switched birth control pills as my last pill made me gain 10 lbs in a short amount of time. I lost it all after I went off that pill within a few months. After about 3 weeks on this particular pill, I knew it would be normal for my chest to be tender, and my body felt a mess, but I wasn’t expecting to develop acne on my jawline and neck, especially since I have never had acne before. My skin is now really oily when I typically have dry skin. I thought it was because of the time of year and its warmth, but I’ve never had this issue throughout my life, and I’m in my 30s. Here come to find out after looking online, it seems like other people have the same problem, glad to see this thread and to know I’m not the only one. I’m on my last pill, and I will not be taking this anymore. Hopefully, my skin clears up fast."

For Acne "I'm 17 years old, and I've been using Loestrin 24 Fe for almost a month now, and I couldn't be happier! I have suffered with acne and insecure body image my whole pre-teen/teenage life and searched consistently for a solution. That's when I came across birth control. After only 2 weeks of starting the pill, I've seen an increased size in my breast! Nothing else, just my breast, which I'm extremely pleased with. Also, my skin is getting a bit better, but I've heard it doesn't work instantly. I have to wait about 3 months to see my acne disappear like everyone says, but it does adjust my mood to make me feel confident about my skin and body. I can finally go to school without makeup and feel super great about myself."

For Endometriosis "My doctor had me continuously take Loestrin 24 to stop having my period altogether (I have endometriosis), which was great! I was doing well, but then I started to feel weird after a while and had gained weight, so as an experiment, I stopped. I went right back to intensely painful and heavy periods, so now I am going right back on it."

For Acne "This is the worst birth control pill I've ever taken. It gave me the worst acne ever. I was super moody. Mood swings, depression, frustration, headaches, and everything. Maybe the only good thing about it was that it made my cramping go away, and my periods were very light and short. Other than that, I hate it! It was the worst experience ever. I tried to give it some time so my body could get used to it, but after 7 months there were no changes, so I decided to switch to another brand. Now I am taking Ortho Tri-Cyclen Lo and I love it. My acne went away right away and my face is so clear. I have no more mood swings and I just love it. I recommend this brand to everyone."

For Acne "I'm so happy I'm not alone here with saying this pill is absolutely awful. I've always had okay skin, but I get bad cystic acne and got on this pill for this main issue. I've had bad stomach issues, but that's another story - I just wanted my face cleared up. I cry over how bad my face has gotten in the month I've been on this pill. My doctor told me it would take three weeks to work, yet told me three whole packs (three months) a different time. I wish I never got on this. I was on Yaz for a month, and it did wonders for my face but made me incredibly nauseous. I'd rather go back to that, in all honesty. Wish I read these reviews sooner. Don't go on this pill if you are looking to clear up acne, I'm worried about going off it now and what it'll do to my skin."

For Acne "I have taken Lo Loestrin 24 for about 2 months now. I have had migraines, nausea, and fatigue nonstop. I only had one very light period since I started this pill. I have had horrible face and body acne since I started Loestrin, I feel 16 again! I have had a significant appetite increase and midsection bloating. However, I will continue with it one more month and see if my symptoms clear up."

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "So I started this pill and was excited but had to stop right in the middle of the pack. I mean, out of nowhere, there is a burst of bleeding. I went to the bathroom and it's like my period snuck up on me and it was almost 2 weeks before my period is due. There were lots of clots and brown, yucky stuff. On top of all that, my moods were really crazy. I would be lying in my bed and would feel like crying and then be okay the next moment. I have only been off now for two days 'cause I just couldn't take the crazy mood swings and the bleeding anymore. I also noticed a great deal of fatigue, and even that has changed after just 2 days off of Loestrin. It's not worth it, and I cannot wait for it to be out of my system."

For Birth Control "People who are giving this a bad review either aren't letting it get into their system or are some of the few that will suffer from the side effects that come along with taking any medication. People who write a bad review saying they have only been on it for 6 weeks or a couple of months have not let their body adjust to a new pill. I have been on this pill for 6 months now and have no real complaints. In the beginning, I spotted here and there, and my period lasted longer than 4 days. It is better than bleeding for 6-7 days. Give it a chance."

For Birth Control "It's crazy to me that there are so many good reviews because this pill was bad for me! Every body is different, and we all react differently... but I definitely did not have a good experience with this one. I've been on and off many other birth controls but never reacted to any like I did to this one. Within a week, I was a deranged, emotional roller coaster of a mess... cried over nothing for no reason, randomly, and couldn't control it, almost ended my then three-year relationship... depression to the max. Immediately asked my Dr. to take me off it, and within a couple of days, I was back to normal. So crazy how much hormones can mess with you! You just have to find the right combination that works for your body."

For Birth Control "I have been on Loestrin 24 Fe for about five years. It's been my one and only birth control, but I can't complain. Many of my friends have had to change birth control, and I always recommend mine. It doesn't make you gain weight. Your period is very, very mild. From having my period for a week with severe cramping and heavy periods, I went to three days with very little bleeding and not much cramping. I recommend it! You won't regret it!"
