For Acne "Absolutely hated this birth control pill. Within a few days of taking it, the cystic acne started, and I read some reviews urging people to stick with it and it'd get better, so I did for 6 months, but this wasn't the case for me. My skin got worse... A lot worse. My skin wasn't great to begin with, but it was horrible on Loestrin. Whole face covered in under-the-skin bumps and large cystic acne on cheeks and chin. Been off of it for almost 4 months, and I can't seem to get the acne gone now. So frustrating. No other side effects."

For Acne "I am BEYOND angry at how terrible my skin broke out while using this medication. It was a mystery to myself and family when my face began to break out terribly, to the point where I was prescribed oral acne medication, and the painful cysts still didn't go away. This medication almost ruined my skin, I am so thankful I stopped when I did and read these reviews! It's honestly infuriating that this was the cause! I stopped taking this pill about a week ago, and my skin has already cleared up substantially. Do not recommend!!!!"

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "Loestrin 24 is definitely the best form of birth control out there. I have been taking it nonstop for the last 6 years, and I've never had a single problem while taking it. I always take it at the same time every single day, and if by chance I miss a day, my periods were never longer. I had a little bit of acne before I started taking the pill, and it definitely cleared it up for me. About weight gain, I never gained a pound except in my breasts. If anything, the pill actually allowed me to lose weight. The ONLY negative thing I have to say about Loestrin 24 is that it tends to be a little pricey, but if you have insurance, it's definitely the best pill out there! I will never switch from this pill! Very satisfied!"

For Polycystic Ovary Syndrome "I was diagnosed with PCOS 2 months ago. I tried Junel Fe before Loestrin Fe but kept throwing up every day due to nausea/morning sickness. Then my doctor switched me to Loestrin Fe. Now I only get mild nausea during the first line of the pack. My periods are normal now, they last 3 days (1.5 days of 2 placebo pills) and 1 day of the first pill of the new pack. My acne has gotten out of control though, completely filling around the chin area, but I heard it takes 4 months for your body to get used to hormonal changes. So I'm hoping with time I will see the effect. I was on Balzina last year and stopped after 8 months when my periods became normal. It cleared my face too, so I'm hoping Loestrin will do the same."

For Acne "I've been on this pill for 3 months and started experiencing the worst acne that I've ever had in a long time. I was taking Ortho Tri-Cyclen Lo prior to Loestrin 24, and other than the price, it was great. I decided to switch to a cheaper pill, but this birth control does not control my acne. I'm experiencing breakouts on my chin, cheeks, and forehead. I've since called my ob-gyn and have switched back to Ortho Lo, which helps control my acne."

For Birth Control "I was prescribed Loestrin 24 for both birth control and because of heavy cramping. During the first two weeks, I started breaking out a bit, but afterward, my complexion was completely clear. My periods were light, the cramping stopped, and I didn't get pregnant during the 5 months that I was on it. Just be warned- I gained approximately 13 lbs. I was underweight, so this made me extremely happy, but obviously not everyone would be thrilled with the extra weight. I found that my appetite increased tremendously, to the point where I couldn't seem to get full. However, like I said, this was extremely beneficial to me. I love this pill."

For Birth Control "So I was originally on Tri Nessa Lo for about 6 months, skin was clear, but my PMS was horrible. I have horrible mood swings and was very unstable. I also got my period for 7-10 days. I decided to switch to Lo Loestrin Fe. My first couple of months were horrible, as I had bad cystic acne all over my chin and jaw. My gyno said that it was my body adjusting to the new pill. I’m at 6 months now, and my skin is worse than ever before. My forehead is covered in bumps, and my T-zone is so oily now, and I have pimples all over, such as my chest and back. (Before I was even on birth control, I hardly got acne, only when I was getting my period). Anyway, on a positive note, I got my period for about 2 days a month, and my PMS was better. I am looking for a new birth control method, or I may just quit altogether."

For Acne "It's funny because I usually get a breakout here and there like every normal girl, and I thought maybe this was just a coincidence that I was horrendously breaking out. I'm talking huge pimples plastered on my cheeks and little whiteheads all over my forehead. I thought maybe it was a coincidence till I read reviews and seen that this causes acne for a lot of people. I quit taking it 2 days ago, and my face is already immediately clearing back up again. I think I'll just stick to condoms. Birth control has been a nightmare for my face."

For Acne "Just started taking this pill on Sunday, and it's now Friday. First two days, severe migraine, then every day after, I felt great. The only downfall is that I started taking this to control my acne, and I feel it's just making it worse. I've always heard it will get worse before it gets better, so I'm going to try to stick it out. I just hope that's the case. If not, I guess I'm going to have to try another option. I'm trying to be patient, but when it comes to something like this, it's hard."

For Acne "I'm 17, and I've been on this pill for a month now. I started taking it to help with horrible periods, and it made them feel worse. I've been on my period for a week and am having horrible cramps, gained weight, and am breaking out on my chin and around my mouth."

For Birth Control "Stop reading into birth control so much! Everyone is different, and it is all about trial and error based on your needs, your body, you. I am 23 years old and have never tried birth control pills. My hormones were off, and I was getting hormonal breakouts around my chin along with an abnormal menstrual cycle. I was skeptical about starting to use the pill because I want a natural period, and I feel like my body will respond the way it needs to without meds, but sometimes you need help getting back on track after stress, etc. I have noticed a huge change. The first two weeks I was just emotional, but that was expected. I cried for silly reasons but laughed it off. Overall, it is doing its job. I feel better all around."

For Acne "I have never posted a review for any product, but seeing reviews for this birth control was such an eye-opener that I had to! I am 22, and I have been on Lolo for about a year. My entire life, I maybe got five tiny pimples. The first few months of being on this pill, I didn't notice any changes. However, each month after that, my acne kept getting worse and worse. I did not realize it was from this pill until I started reading reviews and looking at pictures and matching to the time I started this birth control. My acne has gotten so bad that there are times I will not even leave the house. The day I saw these reviews, I threw all of my pills in the garbage. It has been a month, and I am still fighting the acne. STAY AWAY!"

For Acne "I started taking Loestrin 24 Fe 2 weeks ago to prevent pregnancy, and my face is breaking out like crazy. Plus, I'm getting killer mood swings, which is just lovely since I'm already on an antidepressant (I'm on it for anxiety, not depression though). I'm gonna give it until I finish this pack, and if it's not better, I'm heading to the doctor and getting my birth control prescription changed."

For Acne "I've been on this birth control for 5 weeks now, I was given 3 free months' worth to try from my doctor. I take very good care of my skin, and I was used to having acne just before a period with my oily combo skin. After the third week of taking this, my skin has turned absolutely horrible! Cystic acne, which I've never ever had in my life, and I'm in my mid-20s. My entire forehead and cheeks are covered in acne and even spreading to my chest. I'm so upset with this birth control, I do not recommend! I will be going to my doctor's tomorrow to switch to TriCyclenLo starting next month. I'm fighting my acne right now with: Lush Cosmetic Warrior mask, 10% benzoyl peroxide medicine, apricot scrub face wash, tea tree oil, and multivitamins."

For Acne "Reading some of these reviews has made me feel so much better. I started this BC about 6 months ago, and while my acne/face was certainly not perfect beforehand, it has gotten so much worse since starting this. Horrible, huge, painful cystic acne - repeatedly, especially on the cheeks. I do not wear makeup at all, so no reason for my pores to be this oily and clogged. Honestly, I am about to just stop taking it, it's really not worth it for me (especially as I'm on it for acne and period maintenance and don't even have a partner at the moment). I've been on several other types of BC over my lifetime - Yaz, Yasmin, Gianvi, Ventura, probably others way back in the day. Absolutely none of those made my face look as bad as this."

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "Since being off birth control for about 4 years, I decided I wanted to try a mini pill. I have endometriosis, and my doctor had mentioned it could help with ovarian cysts. Since day 1 of taking this pill, I have been bleeding. It's now the end of my pack, and I still have had bleeding throughout the entire time. I don't really want to continue taking it if this is going to continue, the point of going on the pill was to prevent pregnancy, but if I'm bleeding all month anyways, I don't even have sex, so there's no point. I have also never had acne, and now it's all over my face, which makes me depressed, and my self-esteem is now horrible! The only thing I like about this pill is the fact that I didn't gain weight and my moods are decent."

For Birth Control "I took Loestrin 24 Fe for five years and loved it! I had no weight gain, hardly any acne or mood swings, and absolutely no cramping. I started taking birth control because I was missing school due to cramps, so this was a significant benefit for me. The two problems are that I frequently missed periods, and that it was extremely expensive due to the absence of a generic."

"I have been on Loestrin 24 Fe for almost 2 complete months. I'm fairly impressed. No weight gain, no mood swings, no breakouts; it is actually helping my skin, thank goodness! Very few cramps, breasts slightly fuller; but not sore or tender, slight increased appetite, and super light and short periods. My only concern is breakthrough bleeding was terrible the first month and a little in the early second month. But it's stopped for now, and I hope it doesn't come back! I would recommend it to anyone!"

"I am 31, and this is the first birth control I have ever used. I have had no bad side effects from this other than really bad acne. I never had any issues with acne until now, so it has to be the pill. I am going to change to another at my next OBGYN appointment. I just hope the other pills that help acne don't give me any of the other horrible side effects I have read about on here."

For Acne "This so far has been the only pill/birth control where I don't feel emotionally unstable; I feel like my regular self. HOWEVER, I have noticed a significant increase in pimples: breakouts on my face. It looks terrible, like connecting the dots. I feel like I'm just going to deal with it because it's the lesser of the two evils. Also, this is only my second pack of it, but I did have 2 periods in one cycle. I've never had that with another birth control. Probably going to get another pack at my next appt. I would much rather feel emotionally normal than have perfect skin. Yes, my skin is looking bad. But not many other options!"

For Birth Control "Horrible, horrible, horrible. I have never had acne this bad in my life! My whole chin and jawline are red and covered in cystic acne! I had perfectly clear skin before. I am honestly in a complete panic about what is going on with my skin. I'm in shock that a small pill could do this much damage. My face hurts so bad because of the acne. It's been only 3 weeks since I started taking it. Switching to Sprintec tomorrow. Do not use this, save your skin!"

For Birth Control "This was my first birth control pill. I was on it for 2 months. I was prescribed this for heavy, long periods (a super plus tampon and a maxi pad would last me about 2 hours at most. Setting alarms every 2 hours at night was not fun) and severe cramps that caused me to black out and miss school. I never got acne, but after starting this pill, I noticed a few spots-nothing big, maybe 5 or 6 over the course of 2 months. Nothing happened to my weight. My periods were extremely light; a regular tampon was all I needed for 4 to 6 hours. I did notice my sex drive decreased greatly, and it did increase the severity of my bipolar disorder. However, I would still recommend this pill."
