For Acne "I changed from the POP to Loestrin about a month ago, especially to clear up spots. It is great if you want a regular light period, however, don't go near it if you're looking for acne relief! Has made my face go from a few pimples to a horrible mess! Also has caused some uncomfortable and not nice-looking bloating :( Managed to change pills and recommend Doxycycline for acne relief instead of the pill, as none of these side effects and works well!"

For Acne "Update from spookyblack: I forgot to mention the terrible nightmares I have been having. They are really messed up, and there is breakthrough bleeding. This pill has made me super tired, depressed, and has gnarly mood swings. I have been eating a lot and have gained a lot of weight. Great, just in time for summer, right? I have felt the worst about myself and my looks ever since I started this pill. Please don't do this to yourself, and not to mention the nasty acne I, and so many girls, have experienced."

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "I have been on the pill for 3 months now. It did reduce my periods to almost nothing. I have always been really skinny and wore a size 1. After the first month and a half, I had gained almost 20 pounds. My clothes don't fit anymore, and I'm very uncomfortable with my body. My acne has become bad. I get deep, like cysts on my face that don't go away. I went to the dermatologist a month ago and have been prescribed a ton of medications for my acne, but nothing is working. I never had acne before this pill. I just stopped taking the pill yesterday."

For Birth Control "I was taking Loestrin for about a year. It had some pros— for instance, I would normally suffer from really painful menstrual cramps, but with this birth control, I haven’t had any since I started. Another thing, I haven’t gotten my period since I started. Not even the common spotting, which was a little concern for me towards the end. It’s not normal. But what really made me stop taking these pills was that I broke out a lot!!!! It was ridiculous how much acne I got from this! It just took one week for my face to clear up and feel smooth after I fully stopped taking these pills! Now I have to go on the hunt again for birth control pills."

For Acne "Let's start with the fact that I just cried for 20 minutes because of the acne this pill has given me. I've been on it for exactly 2 weeks and I've never seen a pimple in my life. Suddenly, my entire forehead is covered in pimples. I was put on this pill because I got my period every 5 days and it lasted for 6-11 days. No blood or spotting since I went on the pill, which is a miracle for me! But I am still pretty upset about my skin."

For Acne "My gynecologist gave me this pill to 'regulate my hormones (periods),' and it was the worst decision ever. I ended up quitting the pill after I reached a month because it gave me THE WORST ACNE OF MY LIFE (which I'm still suffering from a month after quitting), mood swings, depression, and HORRIBLE BLOATING! And I have suffered from acne all my teen years (17 now), but it was regular hormonal kind of acne I would get during that time of the month. I actually had pretty bad acne ear. But the acne I have now is on a whole other level. And to top it all off, the pill didn't even do what it was supposed to do. I didn't get my period while on this pill, and now I have a regular period again. I wish I would've never taken this pill!!!!!"

For Birth Control "This is my first time on birth control. My first two to three months on Lo, I experienced mild cystic acne on my chin area and slight weight gain, 6 pounds at the most. I think most of my weight went to my boobs :). The acne resolved after three months or so, now my skin is clear for the most part. My weight is pretty steady, however, my breasts get very sore and heavy during certain times of the month. Overall, it seems to be good compared to what I’ve heard from other BC. Most importantly, it decreased my bleeding, which is why I started. Periods are very light, lasting about 3 days. I’m on my 6th month, can’t complain!"

For Menstrual Disorders "I've been on Loestrin 24 for around 5 months, and I am overall very happy with it. I am 16 and sexually active. The first three months were bad in terms of side effects: lots of nausea, acne, spotting, and cramping. But from the get-go, I went from heavy, long periods to very short light periods. For the past two months, I have had just spotting for around 3 days, not exactly in correspondence with my brown pills but close enough. I no longer get bloated on my period, I do still have acne around my time of the month, but that can be attributed to my negligence of going to the dermatologist in half a year. It worries me that some people get no period at all because pregnancy scares are definitely not my favorite. But now I feel safe and satisfied."

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "I am a 32-year-old woman, and this is the first time that I've taken birth control pills. My doctor recommended birth control pills to alleviate the pain I was experiencing and heavy bleeding associated with uterine fibroids. I am currently on the second week of the pack, and the only complaint I have at the moment is the breakthrough bleeding or spotting after my period. I've only been spotting for 5 days and hoping it will go away. I've noticed a new breakout-a pimple, but occasional acne is normal for me. Haven't noticed any weight gain, but after reading other reviews, I purchased a scale to monitor my weight. Will keep you posted as I continue to take the pill."

"I’ve only been on it a little over a week. I started breaking out in cystic acne across my breast, chest, neck, and back about 3-4 days in. I’m using this to help with endometriosis pain. I’ll update whether it’s working on that in a few months if I make it that long."

For Birth Control "I was taking this pill for several years and had a good experience with it. My periods were only for 3 days, if that. Sometimes, I hardly bled. My doctor prescribed this to me because I had irregular menstrual cycles. While I was on the medication, my acne improved, I hardly had any breakouts, I barely experienced cramps, and I had a shortened period. It worked very well for me, but apparently, they've discontinued this product. Minastrin 24 Fe is apparently the bio-equivalent. I have yet to try that product or any new pills."

For Birth Control "Though expensive (I can usually find a coupon), I love this birth control! I noticed no weight gain or breakouts... it actually cleared up my skin. Very short periods (4 days of inactive pills) usually last 2 days. Recommended for sure, if covered by insurance or have the money."

For Acne "I really had no issues with being on the med until the horrible cystic acne on my chin began and continued! I am 46 and have never experienced this kind of acne in my life. So embarrassing. It is painful and gross. I am stopping this pill. Was so glad to see other posts about this horrible med."

For Acne "This is the worst birth control I have been on. I would not recommend this birth control to my worst enemy. I was on it for 3 months and had the worst mood swings, depression, and worst acne that I still suffer from even after 2 months of being off it. I never usually write reviews online, but knew I had to warn anybody thinking about going on this product. I had such a clear face before I began this birth control, a few minor zits during my period, but that's normal for anybody, but after this, I still have red cystic acne... it's horrible. I used to be able to wear no makeup, now I can't even leave the house without makeup because I'm too self-conscious of my acne. DO NOT GO ON THIS BIRTH CONTROL."

For Acne "I have never had perfect skin, however, after taking this pill, it is in horrendous shape. My doctor gave me a 3-month trial, and I was told to come back after that time frame to see how it was reacting with my body. In these 3 months, I noticed my skin slowly getting worse (mainly jawline and down my neck), and I was also having no periods and was also feeling moody and tired all the time. My doctor wanted me to stick with the pill for another 3 months to see if everything started to even out. At month 5, I have cystic acne down my neck. I still don't have a 'real' period, just random spotting during the month. Also, I don't feel tired as often, however, I sleep about 11 hrs/night to feel refreshed. Definitely don't recommend this birth control."

For Birth Control "I started Loestrin over a year and a half ago, two months before my wedding, and it is a great pill. I did gain quite a bit of weight (but I attribute that to my love of fast food). Before going on this pill, I had absolutely horrible period cramps, terrible iron deficiency, and very excessive bleeding. I had few pimples. When I started the pill, my bleeding decreased a ton, and I didn't feel lightheaded anymore, I have not had a single pimple since I started it, and cramps are nonexistent. I take the pill at the exact same time every night and have never forgotten. I'm careful to use extra protection 48 hours after starting white pills and before brown pills. I haven't gotten pregnant. Only negative - did decrease sex drive a LOT."

"I love this birth control. I am 23 years old and have tried a total of 5 other birth controls in the past, Loestrin being the best. I am very sensitive to hormone changes, the first month, I was a little moody and broke out a little. After that, I had no symptoms, and my face cleared up. I have now been on Loestrin 24 Fe for over a year and will never change to another birth control."

For Acne "I'm glad to hear that I'm not the only one who is having a horrible breakout because of this pill. I've been taking it for 1.5 months, and my face, chest, and back started to break out. In addition, it is very expensive. The one positive thing I did experience is no bad headaches during my period like I used to get with other pills. Will go back to another pill that doesn't cause me these bad breakouts."

For Birth Control "I was taking Microgestin for 4 years and switched to test out if the other BC was giving me weight gain. Never got around to the experiment because Loestrin was a nightmare. I had spotting every day since day 5 of the pack. Then cystic acne started popping up, and I couldn't control it with anything! With the other BC, I was able to control it, and it at least went away like a normal pimple, but this acne is painful and HUGE. Combined with the constant spotting and losing all my good thongs to the BC being sassy, I decided to switch back. Based on other reviews, seems like these side effects aren't going anywhere."

For Acne "This birth control was horrible for my acne. Painful cysts I've never had before were popping up on my chin, cheeks, and forehead... places I've never had bad acne! I've been on it for two months and started seeing the effects about three weeks ago. I'm going back to Ortho Tri-Cyclen next week because that worked wonders for my face."

For Acne "If I could give this medicine a 0 for acne, I would. I've been on it for years because it's the only birth control that seriously regulates my heavy periods, but it makes my skin horrible. I'm in my 20s, and my skin looks like a 13-year-old's. It gives me horrible cystic acne that no face treatment can clear up. I've tried everything. I didn't have this type of acne in my teens, and I was never seriously prone to it before starting this medicine."

For Acne "Absolutely horrible. I have been on this for about a year. I guess I never put two and two together and realized what was causing my breakouts until looking up other women's experiences. I have horrible cystic acne on my cheeks that will come and stay, and then my skin will be perfectly clear, and it will come right back, not to mention the scars this has caused me. I also agree it has made my anxiety absolutely horrible, and sometimes I get so depressed I literally will just cry. I go back to the doctor in February, and I am going to ask to be switched. I'm hoping this acne clears up, it is absolutely embarrassing... especially when your job makes you deal with the public all day."

For Birth Control "This was my first birth control pill, and I have been on it for about two months. I have been very moody/sensitive and cry about everything!!! I mean, I could cry until my eyes hurt. I had no idea that it was from this pill until I decided to stop taking them because they were causing horrible cystic acne on my face. I stopped a few days ago, and my mood is a lot better already. Take this pill at your own risk because I don’t recommend it."
