"I've never had any problems with the length or intensity of my period, but on this pill, I felt sick all the time, dizzy, anxious, moody, and tired. My skin broke out, and I had hot flushes. Every 3 days, I had cramps, and my breasts were tender. I've been running 4-8 miles a day and still gained weight. This pill made me feel like I was pregnant all over again. Not a good choice of pill for me!"

"I am 18 now, and I have been taking this pill for 2 years now. Since I started taking it, my periods, which were already normal to begin with, have significantly decreased. Now, my periods last from 2 days to sometimes not at all. It's scary, but reading some other reviews, I find that this is common. I never had nausea, but I did have some increase in acne. This is still a good pill, but I wish I would have a definite period each month."

"I love this birth control. My period used to be very heavy, and it would last for at least a week of every month. I would be nauseous for at least two days, have cramps so badly I had to stay home some days, and my PMS and mood swings were terrible. YUCK! I started Loestrin 24 because I heard it could help shorten my period. I have been on it for two years, and over time my period shortened until it never lasts more than four days, and it lightened up enough I didn't have to limit my activities any longer because of my need to have a bathroom in close range for days on end. It helped clear up my acne, never caused weight gain, stopped my cramps, and I don't get nearly as moody. I did start craving chocolate like you wouldn't believe though."

"At first, it made me a little groggy. After 6 months, it has made me extremely fatigued all the time. My muscles feel constantly weak, regardless of how much I sleep or exercise. I have lost hair and gained some weight. It also made my breasts very tender (and slightly larger). I get headaches, sweat profusely, and have trouble focusing."

"I started taking Loestrin in Sep 2015 after experiencing weight gain, general sadness, and headaches on Yasmin. At the time, I was starting a new job and training for a marathon, so initially put my anxiety down to that. However, after completing the race and becoming settled and happy in my new job, I still experienced severe anxiety, having panic attacks and racing negative thoughts. I stopped taking Loestrin, within days, the symptoms subsided. This month (Feb 2016), I foolishly decided to give the pill another chance, convincing myself I had been overreacting to the side effects previously. Within 4 days, the symptoms returned, stopped taking, and already getting back to normal."

"I love this! This is my first form of birth control, and I have only been on it for about two and a half weeks, but I have to say that, so far, it's great. I usually get terrible cramps, pains, nausea, etc. on my period; when I started using this on the first day of my period this month, it all went away. This was my first time NOT throwing up during my period, and I stopped getting those terrible cramps. Even my bloating went away. Plus, for some reason, since I started using this b.c., my occasional pimples have disappeared and stopped showing up. It's all really great, and I feel so much better after taking this!! The only problem (though it's really not a big deal) is that I may have put on a pound since I started using it."

"I loved being on this pill. The only reason why I stopped is because I am way too busy to take it at the same time every day, so I now have a birth control implant. I did not gain weight. Acne... well, I've always had bad acne, even before birth control. I was secretly hoping it would clear it up, which it did not, but it definitely did not get worse. No weight gain, etc. Lightened my cycles for the first year, then afterwards I would regularly get my period every other month, and then I would never get it (and take tests when I was worried.) Towards the end (I was on it for years), I was horrible with taking it on time-- there were days I would even forget to take it. With backup protection, I still was never pregnant. Loved this pill."

"I love it! I bled for almost 21 days twice. Then I was put on this birth control and my periods have been about 3 days long! My boyfriend loves the increased sex drive! And it makes me have more energy, so I have lost weight!"

"I have been on Loestrin 24 FE for 2 months now. My first pack, I started a week or two before my scheduled period, so I had a regular period, but I kept taking the pills. I skipped the 4 dummy pills and moved straight on to my 2nd pack, and I haven't had my period this month, which is GREAT. The only side effect that I dealt with was major bloating the first week or two when I started my first pack. Now I haven't felt any side effects. My sex drive is amazing, haven't gained any weight, no mood swings, nothing. I used to be on the patch several years ago, and that stuff made me go insane, so I was afraid to try a new type of birth control, but Loestrin 24 FE has been AMAZING for me. I love it!"

"I started this birth control 2 weeks ago, and have so far experienced no symptoms whatsoever (good or bad). While I wouldn't have complained if my breasts grew a bit, as a lot of girls have experienced, I am pretty relieved that I didn't have any negative side effects. Things may change, but so far I have no complaints. Don't be scared by all the negative reviews. Just give it a go, and if it doesn't work for you, you can always try another."

"I have tried many pills, and this one was better than the rest, but I am switching because I get terrible migraines. On this pill, I was getting 16-20 days of migraines, even though this has the lowest, constant dose of estrogen. Multi-phasic pills gave me 20-25 days of migraines. I switched to an intrauterine device and had 1-2 days, but I don't want to deal with the cramping again, so I am going to try something else. Good birth control, but bad for migraines."

"I never got pregnant taking Loestrin 24 Fe, so it was successful at doing its job, however, there were a few side effects. I actually lost weight while taking it, since that was my aim. But, it did make me very emotional and very sexually interested. Also, I spot-bled throughout the entire month. I would typically just wear a panty liner every day, kind of annoying. That's why I give it a 7/10, it was effective at doing what it was supposed to do, but it certainly did not improve the overall quality of my life."

"I was on LoLoestrin for 3 years and finally discontinued it in June 2018. The entire time I was on it, I noticed a lot of mood swings and anxiety but didn’t really think much of it for the first 2 years. Then, within the last year, it started to get worse and worse, I was crying all of the time, constantly sad, and arguing with my husband a lot! I had turned into someone that I was not, and I started thinking about what could be causing this!? I decided to stop the pills, and I’m starting to feel like myself again! The mood swings and sadness gradually stopped! I know these pills affect everyone differently, but unfortunately this one was not the one for me. I’m trying an IUD next, so we will see how that goes!"

"I have been taking these pills for a few months now. I have been experiencing major sweating issues. I sweat through most of my clothes and experience a 'hot flash' type feeling throughout the day. I did like that this pill has made my periods extremely light and they only last for about 2 days. That is nice, but I am not sure if I can deal with the excessive sweating."

"I've been on this pill for 5 months, and it's pretty awesome. No horrific acne. No horrific weight gain. But then again, I hit the gym 5 days a week. In fact, this birth control makes me skip my period entirely. I haven't been pregnant, and I don't have to drop 10 bucks on tampons. Needless to say, this stuff is great."

"This was my first birth control pill, and I have been on it for about two months. I have been very moody/sensitive and cry about everything!!! I mean, I could cry until my eyes hurt. I had no idea that it was from this pill until I decided to stop taking them because they were causing horrible cystic acne on my face. I stopped a few days ago, and my mood is a lot better already. Take this pill at your own risk because I don’t recommend it."

"Loestrin 24 Fe is a horrible pill. It did not regulate me at all. I didn’t have my period for 6 months. I thought I was going crazy. Then my period would show up when I was taking the active pills-such a horrible pill."

"I have been on Loestrin 24 Fe for almost 4 years. It was my favorite out of all the birth controls I tried until this year. I am 5'6-5'7 and have always been about 125-130 pounds. I am now about 150-160 pounds, I skipped a period two months ago and got this month's period late. I am not pregnant. I will randomly feel sick and depressed. I have lost my sex drive, and my boobs will hurt. I have extreme cramps and find myself experiencing tons of mood swings. I think it is time to switch to something else."

"I just started this pill, this is my first month, and I'm about two weeks in. I feel like no one this new has left any comments (I've been searching for answers and relatable experiences on it). I figure I might help a few people who are going to be in my position. My breasts have gotten a bit bigger in just two weeks (half a cup size). No moodiness so far, in fact, it may have bettered my mood. On my 11th day (today), I got a light period. I had cramps, but not normal cramps and nowhere near as painful. When I woke up, I felt pain in my mid-abdomen, right above my belly button. As for weight gain, I feel bloated, but I always have problems with bloating, so I would need more time before I blame the birth control."

"I have been on this product since my sophomore year of high school as period control. I am now a freshman in college, and I still love this pill. I haven't experienced any of the negative side effects I hear so many girls complaining about with their birth controls. It helped clear up acne. I have very short, always regular periods, and I didn't experience any weight gain from this pill. I'm also not pregnant, highly recommend this pill."

"I'm into my second pack and am not pregnant (which is good), but I'm very nauseous, queasy, dizzy, and lightheaded. Also, I'm experiencing anxiety and nervousness. I think if these symptoms continue after pack 3, I'll need to switch."

"I have been on Loestrin 24 for 10 months now, and my periods haven't been longer than 3 days. The third month, my period was really heavy, and I had bad cramps. As far as birth control, I haven't been having sex, and I never had bad acne to begin with. Overall, I've had a moderate experience. I take the pill in the morning, and it does make me nauseous. I also am very depressed on it and experience crazy mood swings. I spend at least one day out of the month crying, and the littlest thing will ruin my mood or make me want to cry. My mom and sister talk about how I have multiple personalities because my mood is so unpredictable."

"I've been using Loestrin 24 for about 4 months now, and I like it a lot. It completely took away my period (YAY)! I do sometimes get in really bad moods for no reason at all, and I sometimes feel like I am gaining weight. However, I do really like it and will continue to use it."

"I have been on this birth control for about 8 months. My hormones went crazy, and my boyfriend agrees. It has helped prevent pregnancy but gave me some spotting close to my periods if I maybe did not take it right on time. I like this birth control, but I may try a different one. I used to be such a laid-back person before this, but now I can be very moody. I did not gain any weight except for a small increase in cup size."

"I have been using this for over 3 years now. I originally went on this pill because of heavy periods. Within 6 months of taking the pill, my periods were lighter and shorter. After taking this pill for a year, I now don't have periods (maybe 1 or 2 times a year). I take pregnancy tests monthly to be sure. I experienced no problems with this pill."
