"I started taking Blisovi after my pharmacy switched me from Taytulla. I was only on it for a month and a half. Aside from the fact my skin was completely clear, the side effects were horrible for me. I gained some weight, and my mood swings were horrible. I've never in my life experienced severe anxiety until taking this pill. I genuinely thought I was going crazy. I never struggled with panic attacks until this pill. Every morning I woke up anxious. I also experienced really bad cramping and pelvic pain, and mild breast tenderness. I ended up convincing myself I was pregnant. I’ve been off of it for a week now, and I feel like my normal self. I’d be cautious on this one."

"I started this birth control 4 years ago, and my side effects got worse and worse every year I was on it. I’ve never suffered from anxiety, and it made me literally so miserable. Stressed every day to the point where I’d start to shake and get nervous over nothing. I never knew what was causing this. My cramps were also so bad: pelvic pain and mood swings. I’d cry for an entire day and then be fine the next. Muscle aches as well due to my anxiety getting so bad. I also would become incredibly nauseous a few days before my cycle, sometimes, I would even throw up. There were nights where I would constantly just sit in my bathroom from a panic attack. I also got aggravated incredibly easily. I got off of this pill. Please do not take this. Believe every side effect. It got worse and worse every day I took it, and I never thought it could be my pill making me this miserable. The only thing it did for me was prevent me from getting pregnant."

"I have been taking this for 3 weeks now and have had a light period the whole time. Everyone else is saying the opposite, so I'm wondering why my results are different. Maybe I just need to give it more time for my body to get used to it."

"I've been using this birth control since June of 2020 and haven't had a period since. I don't have any complaints with using it, and I have no symptoms. I don't get cramps or acne or headaches. It seems to be affecting me just fine."

"Taking Blisovi Fe 1/20 as my first time birth control. 1. No weight gain, if anything, I've lost weight while on this, not saying it's due to the pill, but that's the only thing I've noticed about my weight. 2. No hair loss, my hair has been fine. 3. My face cleared up of little pimples I used to get throughout the month. 4. My periods are 3 days at the most and are light. 5. I've noticed an increase in my sex drive. 6. I've always been on the smaller side when it came to my boobs, they've gotten bigger since I started taking this pill. Nothing crazy, but enough to notice a difference. Downsides. 1. I'm bipolar, so this pill did mess with my anxiety/mood pretty bad the first two months, but once I got past the adjustment period, it's been good, occasionally, it can get to be a bit much, but nothing I can't deal with. 2. My cramps haven't changed, they're still just as painful. 3. During my period, my breasts get super tender to the point of being uncomfortable in my bra. Hope this helps. ✌"

"I never leave reviews, but I researched this a ton before going on it. There is more negative than positive, which scared me. This is the first form of BC I've been on, so I did not want any crazy side effects. I kept a log of weight, moods, nausea, etc. each day, and there is barely anything to report. A little nausea at first, but nothing an afternoon ginger ale couldn't fix. My periods were already short and light, and now they are even better. I've always had light breakouts before my period, and I still somewhat do. It's easier for people to write about bad experiences vs. good, so I just wanted to include some positivity for anyone thinking about trying it."

"I’ve been reading a lot of these reviews and, unfortunately, have read that most people have really bad experiences with this birth control. Personally, this is the first birth control I have taken that hasn’t completely ruined my life. My boobs have gotten bigger, I’m finally filling out, my acne is clearing up, and I haven’t had any nausea or depression. Strangely, while most reviewers have noticed a decrease in sex drive, mine has increased, and vaginal dryness is not a thing for me. I think it is safe to say that this form of birth control is not for everyone, but it is worth a shot."

"PLEASE READ IF YOU ARE CONFLICTED. I’ve taken birth control before, and I remember my first pill was pretty high in dosage and made me crazy. I vowed I’d NEVER go back on birth control. However, I decided to give it another go 2 years later. My doctor prescribed me Junel, and honestly, I love it. I remember looking up this brand and becoming instantly terrified. I won’t lie, the first 30 days of this pill were bad. I was so nauseous, had breast pain, bloated, any symptom you can get, I got intensely. But after the 1st month, all my symptoms were gone. My period has never been skipped due to the pill. It comes the 3rd Friday of every month like clockwork (which was amazing since I’ve always had an irregular period). My periods are light to medium and last 2-3 days. This pill is amazing. I haven’t gained weight from the pill, haven’t missed a period, or had crazy mood swings. I was so scared to go on this pill, but I’m truly glad I did. If you just wait up the 30-60 days of awfulness, you won’t regret."

"This is the 3rd time I have attempted to take birth control. I have severe ovulation issues, and my doctor thought trying a “low dose pill” would help. Aurovela Fe is absolutely awful. I’m on my 2nd month, week 2 of the pack, and I’ve never experienced anxiety and mood swings this severely in my life! Sobbing, crying, even having emotional breakdowns. I have GI issues already, and this pill has made them even worse. And the breast tenderness?! I thought they just hurt, but my significant other even mentioned how much larger they looked. Oh, and the bloating is also severe, like really bad. I’m 31, and I’ve never felt like my life was spiraling out of control until I started taking this. I’m not even giving it a chance to “level out.” I will be stopping cold turkey. If I could give this zero stars...I would give it a negative 5."

"Everyone's body is different, but for me, Blisovi's side effect was getting too much for me to handle. I think I should start with the pros because not everything was bad. PRO: I liked how it kept me on schedule. Period change from 6 days to 4 and lighter flow. And, of course, it kept me from getting pregnant. Cons: I couldn't keep control of my weight and gained 20 pounds really fast, no matter the exercise or healthy foods I was eating. I have a family history of diabetes, so I try to make sure my weight is manageable. At first, I correlated it to COVID and being stuck indoors, so I ended up doing more cardio outside almost every day, but for the life of me, I couldn't change my weight. Went from 130 to 150 pounds, and I'm 23 with a history of consistent weight before I took the pill. If I took a break for a couple of days, I'd gain all the weight back plus more. Lastly, my sex drive was nonexistent. I've been on the Blisovi Fe 1/20 for 8 months now and decided another birth control method is best for me."

"I had been very hesitant to begin taking birth control pills for fear of gaining weight. As a 20-year-old female, I am very conscious of maintaining my weight and was unsure about how this would affect me. I got a prescription for the 21-day Junel birth control pill at my yearly physical with my doctor about two months ago. Since then, my mild acne breakouts have cleared up, I haven't gained any weight, my periods are extremely light and tolerable, and I really have had no negative side effects. It took me a few weeks to get used to the pill, and my skin broke out a little at first, but now I seem to be on the other side. My experience was very positive with this medication."

"I've tried several types of birth control/contraceptives, and this is by far the best. In the past, I have had insane mood swings, random periods that last for months, serious weight gain, headaches/nausea, extremely low sex drive, etc. Since I started taking this, I feel like a normal person again. I'm not randomly mean to my boyfriend, I want to sleep with him too. I have noticed that since I've started taking this pill (I'm on my 3rd month), I've been able to lose weight a little bit easier, unlike the last pill I took. I will continue taking this."

"DO NOT TAKE THIS PILL. This is my first ever drug review. I was on this pill for only 9 days. This pill gave me severe anxiety and intrusive thoughts that I am still dealing with almost a month after, although they’ve gotten a little better. This was the worst pill I’ve ever taken in my life. I had fatigue, heavy chest, random pains in my body, severe depression, I could not think or form a thought, anxiety, and fear. And I developed scary intrusive thoughts I never had before. My libido left, and I also experienced dryness I never had before. Only in 9 days! It was awful! Quit this pill and do not take it. Most of the side effects have left, but I’m still having the fear and OCD and I’m scared it screwed me up permanently."

"I absolutely hate this medication. They gave it to me because my Junel Fe was on backorder. Horrible mood swings, zero sex drive whatsoever, symptoms of depression, breakthrough bleeding, and lack of interest in things I previously loved. I didn't use this for the purpose of preventing pregnancy, but it didn't even work for the things I needed it for. Everyone is different, but I have never experienced such dark emotions in my life, and this was a horrible experience."

"I see a lot of these reviews sharing depression and anxiety symptoms. I have never been a person to say I struggle with those, and for the most part throughout the 5 months being on it, I didn't notice anything. But looking back on it, I definitely see the correlations. It would come to me in spurts, though, the sadness wasn't throughout my whole experience. But I noticed I was sad about things that I had already gotten over/accepted previously, which was odd. Anyway, my BIGGEST concern is the ACNE it causes. IF YOU HAVE FOR THE MOST PART CLEAR SKIN, DO NOT TAKE THIS. It will ruin your skin so badly. I stopped the pill because of this. Never in my life had I had acne so badly, and within just 5 months. Also, my breasts are huge and so sore, had to get new bras. Got fitted, went from an A to a borderline C, they said. Never in my life... that was so crazy. Either way, the acne was so bad I couldn't stand it. Not even for bigger boobs..."

"I was so scared to start this given the horrible comments and reviews on this site. I almost switched before I even started! Thankfully, I didn’t because I have had zero issues with this Blisovi 24 FE. I have always been prone to anxiety and been in and out of therapy for it for 12 years. I’m actually the least anxious I’ve ever been since starting this. Still have those days, but who doesn’t? :) If you’re considering getting on Blisovi, please listen to your doctor if they believe it is the right fit for you and don’t let these comments deter you! Also, know the risks involved with any types of hormonal birth control."

"I have been on Microgestin FE 1/20 for a couple of months now, and it's absolutely fantastic! I switched after 6 months of Lo Loestrin, which caused me to gain 10 pounds, constant spotting, and worse acne. With Microgestin, my periods are actually regular and even lighter. I had horrible cramps that I used to have to miss school and work because of, and now, they're almost nonexistent! Zero weight gain, I've actually lost 7 pounds, and my acne is gone! Love this pill!"

"Lo Loestrin Fe is the first birth control I've ever been put on, and what can I say? I LOVE IT! It's cleared my face, no weight gain (if anything I've lost a couple of pounds), I have tons of energy, my periods last two days now with no cramping, and I don't bleed much, my sex drive is through the roof, and it's actually making sex feel 10x better than it used to! Miracle pill I guess, or at least that's what my fiancé says. It doesn't make me moody, and it's not that expensive with insurance. The only con is that for the first few days of using it, I had some drowsiness, but most new medicines I try make me drowsy. I recommend it 110%!"

"I was on Yaz for over 10 years. Started experiencing debilitating cramps during sex and after bowel movements about 2 years ago. Doc thought I may have endometriosis, but recommended I try a lower dose of birth control first before doing any invasive testing. Let me tell you... I wish I knew about this pill a long time ago! Within the first week, my cramps subsided, my mood got increasingly better, and I enjoy sex now for the first time in a long time. I really hope there is someone out there that reads this amongst all of the negative reviews. I had zero negative side effects and have been on it for 6 months now. Taytulla saved my marriage! Insurance pays 100% as well with most carriers, which is a nice added bonus :)"

"This pill honestly worked out really well for me, even though I was terrified to start taking it after reading all of the reviews. It made my period much lighter, although it took about 3 months to notice that change. I will say my period sometimes comes on the second week of my active pills, or it will not come at all for some months. This doesn’t personally bother me, but it is something to consider. I think I lost about 20 pounds from this pill, which was great for me. There’s no true evidence it was from the pill, but I didn’t change my diet or exercise at all. Overall, I’ve had a very positive experience. Don’t let the negative reviews on here scare you, people are much more likely to write about their bad experiences than their good experiences."

"This pill saved my life! I was seeing psychiatrists for 12 years for my suicidal depression and tried all kinds of medicines that didn't work. Sometimes my depression was so bad that I had to be hospitalized a few times. My depression did not respond to antidepressants nor psychotherapy. I felt blue, anxious, suicidal, emotional, and emotionally unstable all the time. Finally, I was referred to the ob-gyn by the psychiatrist. The gynecologist tested my hormones and put me on this pill. I no longer feel depressed or suicidal. The only disadvantage for me is that when the pill wears off, I feel horrible. It helps my anxiety too. I haven't felt this great in years!"

"I'm 21 years old and have been on this birth control for almost a year now, and I absolutely love it. No weight gain, no headaches, no acne, no side effects really, except I no longer have a period at all. Just to be cautious, I take a pregnancy test every month, but so far there hasn't been a need for it. My sex drive is the same and hasn't changed at all. The pills are easy to swallow. I would never switch birth controls!"

"I’m not great with keeping a specific time, but I always take this pill between 11:30 a.m. and 12 p.m. This pill should take about 3-6 months to regulate in your body. Within those months, it’s normal to feel some mood swings, slight changes in period, and/or weight gain, so don’t worry. Prior to this pill, my periods were 5-7 days tops. The first period while being on this pill lasted 2 weeks, the second lasted a week. From the third month moving forward, my periods last about 3-5 days tops with no ovulation. My period dates also shift a bit. I didn’t notice any mood swings until about the 6th month. To today, I sometimes feel sad or depressed, and I won’t know why. I also cry a lot easier now. It’s nothing I’m concerned over though, not too bad, and the mood swings are easy for me to quickly get over. Positive side effect: my breasts have gotten noticeably bigger. My boyfriend has also “finished” in me multiple times with no pregnancy outcome, so the pill has been doing its job. I’d recommend."

"Ladies, do not take this medication. The month I began this Lo Loestrin Fe pill, my life became a bit of a nightmare. The first month, I had spotting every other day, then a horrible yeast infection (my 1st one EVER) during my actual period in the fourth week. During the 2nd month, I had breakthrough bleeding every other day, a period the 2nd week, and another during the inactive week. My mood has been so high and low. I have no desire to have sex whatsoever. I honestly feel really crazy!!! No sleep, no eating, and an overall feeling of dread/failure/sadness. Almost finished with the 4th pack, and I lost count of how many blood-free days I've had because I've been bleeding ALL MONTH and not little droplets. I'm talking enough to wear a regular tampon. Officially done with this and going to just try the fertility awareness method because no BC seems compatible with my body :("
