For Birth Control "So I'll start off by saying that I used to be on Camrese (another generic of Seasonique). I used to get through my second month of pills, and then I would spot for almost the entire third month up until my period. Period weeks were short and sweet, but a downside was every couple of months I would randomly get heavy cramping in the middle of the night. I am on my first pack of Ashlyna, and so far it's been great. I am currently on my period week and only spotted for two days before my placebo week. I do get a little emotional, but it's the holidays too. I should be jumping for joy, but since this is my first pack, I don't know how to feel that I've still only been basically spotting all week. I'll have to see where I'm at after a few more packs, but so far so good."

For Birth Control "I’ve only been taking Ashlyna for about a month and a half. I’ve had a few bouts of extreme dizziness and nausea preventing me from leaving the house (didn’t think it would be wise to drive, nor could I properly socialize). My breasts have gotten increasingly sore, and I think they’ve gotten a little bigger (which at a 32G is quite annoying, but to others perhaps not). If I don’t eat properly and/or don't have a large meal, I get so hungry I get dizzy and nauseous. I’ve gained a couple pounds, but I also haven’t been working out as much. I woke up tonight with an elevated heart rate and feeling nauseous. Like others, I feel overly tired even though I usually make it to bed before 11, but I can barely make it out of bed in the morning at 9 or 10. I originally started this as my periods were getting really bad, I wanted another option to control my acne and peace of mind for sex. I’ll probably keep taking this, but if the nausea and dizziness don’t go away, I might try to switch."

For Birth Control "This is the worst birth control pill ever. I bled for months and lost so much blood. I've had mood swings, depression, and have been miserable! These pills should not be on the market! They will make your life a living hell."

For Birth Control "I know birth control affects everyone differently. And I'm happy for the people who enjoyed this birth control. But I did not. I was placed on this to manage my endometriosis. When I started taking it, the first two weeks were constant crying and shaking from my anxiety skyrocketing. It slowly adjusted but still had panic attacks, and my depression got worse. All of my physical problems went away. But it made my emotional and mental issues MUCH worse. By the 3rd month, I was mostly adjusted and starting to feel like myself again... until I took the pills for my period... Then it started all over again!!! I decided to stop taking them. And my body is still adjusting after almost two months. I would MUCH rather deal with the physical pain."

For Birth Control "I've never bled so badly on a pill before. On my old generic, it was a normal amount. Now I've developed problems with anemia. My anxiety is worse. I've had an increase in paranoid feelings. I'm broken out like a teenager! I'm off this pill ASAP."

For Birth Control "I am a dumb person and stopped taking birth control because I have PCOS and don’t have a period or anything unless I’m on birth control. I started dating this guy and wanted to get back on birth control, but didn’t want to bleed every month, so my doctor recommended Ashlyna. It was fine for the first month, and then around the middle of the second month, I started bleeding a little. I bled for over a month straight and had horrible cramps, even though I had never experienced cramps or any period symptoms before. I also went through like 10+ super plus tampons a day and had to wear pads at the same time. After I bled for so long, I was told to double up on the pill to stop the bleeding, but I ran out early and my insurance wouldn’t cover me to refill. In order to avoid that from happening again, my doctor suggested for me to stop taking anything for a week, and then start a generic pack. Now I bleed every month, but it’s better than the alternative."

For Birth Control "I was on Ashlyna as my first ever birth control. After the first 3 months of adjusting to the hormonal changes, my skin cleared up after battling with cystic acne my entire life since puberty in 5th grade. I was 32 when I started Ashlyna. All of my PMDD symptoms disappeared, my skin cleared up, and my entire mood was overall better on Ashlyna. The only reason I stopped taking it was because I was getting yeast infections every month instead of my period, and even during months I would get my period, I’d also get a yeast infection. I had never had a yeast infection in all the years prior to me taking this BC, so I stopped taking it, and coincidentally, the yeast infections stopped too. I would still be taking this BC if it weren’t for the yeast infections."

For Birth Control "I'm 43 years old and was looking for fewer periods per year. Since I've had no issues in the past, a hysterectomy would be considered 'elective.' Well, no issues till NOW. Three doctors and one urgent care visit later, I'm still bleeding. It's been two months nonstop, to the point I've now become anemic. Extremely fatigue and no sex drive. I feel like I'm losing my mind and that no one understands how incredibly bad this is for me. Now I've got another appointment with yet another doctor and hopefully she'll be able to get this under control. Seriously explore ALL your options, and if you can avoid this medication... DO SO. PLEASE save time and frustration. DO NOT TAKE THIS MEDICATION."

For Birth Control "About 7 weeks into my first pack, I started spotting for 2 1/2 weeks, which then turned into a full-on HEAVY period for another week. My doctor said to stay on it, things should level out. During the 7-week placebo pill, nothing happened. Went several more weeks with no period, then a 3-day period. Followed 3 1/2 weeks later with another 8-day period. I've had the worst acne of my adult life with Ashlyna, causing huge, painful pimples under the skin that will not go away. My husband says I am moody. Definitely low libido. I'm going to try one more 13-week pack after I finish this one. If things don't level out, I need to do something different."

For Birth Control "I kept having breakthrough bleeding, but my face did clear up. In the beginning, I had mood swings, suicidal thoughts, and headaches, but I pushed through it. This specific birth control didn't work with my body's chemistry, but keep in mind any birth control is a trial and error. I used to take a 30-day one that was perfect, but I didn't want my period so frequently. So I'll keep trying until I find one that works with my body."

For Birth Control "I am currently on the last week of the 2nd month of the Ashlyna (Seasonique) brand of this. As far as periods go, I haven't had any bleeding, and this is working great for that. However, since I've started this brand, I have gained a ton of weight. I am on other medication for depression, but I've been on that for over a year, so the birth control definitely isn't helping. I would make sure to take into account weight gain this may cause before deciding on this particular brand."

For Birth Control "I just started taking this medication over 2 weeks ago, and I cannot even explain how much it has already set me back. I began this specific birth control to lessen the amount of periods I was having, but I am so excited to have my body back. My depression and anxiety tanked just within two weeks of taking Ashlyna. If I feel this way now, I just can't even imagine what it would do with further use. I really tried to push through the first few months, but I can no longer take the way this medication has made me feel. Not to mention, I can literally feel the energy drain from my body every day. Forget being able to go to class and study for school. I have had to take a nap after just being awake for an hour or so. So not normal for me."

For Birth Control "I have been on the three-month no-period, one week of period form of this medication for approximately 3 weeks. It was prescribed by my doctor to help with the extreme cramps and various symptoms I get during my period in spite of me being a smoker. In the last week or so, I have been noting several worrying side effects, and I am not sure that I will continue this medication. My heart rate is increased from a good, normal range to almost always high (high 80s-125 resting). I wake up at night to swollen, tingly hands and have difficulty sleeping. Tired frequently. Today I had to go to urgent care because of one of the worst pains I've ever had in my stomach area, may or may not be related, but I read something about it on this site."

For Birth Control "I started Ashlyna in August 2020! It has been absolutely amazing!!! So far, this is the best birth control I’ve ever had and works well with my body. I would recommend others read the reviews, but don’t allow yourself to base your decision on reviews. Every woman’s body is different! And that is very true! The only side effect I have is occasional tiredness! No breakthrough bleeding, no sore breasts, no headaches, no horror story! Try for yourself."

For Birth Control "I have been on Ashlyna since I was 16 to help me with my excessive periods and severe cramps. I am now 18, about to be 19, and it’s the best thing that has happened to me. I got my period at the age of 8, and I used to get my periods for 2 weeks with a heavy flow and cramps that made it impossible to get anything done. At the age of 16, I started the pill and quickly noticed my skin improving, and my anemia iron deficiency went away. I got my period every 3 months with a light flow and very little cramping. My hormones were never out of order, I didn’t gain weight, I didn’t break out, I had 0 side effects other than my skin clearing up, which is a positive. It’s the best thing that’s happened to me, and I recommend any girl who has menstrual issues to try this out."

For Birth Control "I started my first pill the same day when my last period just started (7/30), then continued taking it for 13 days at exactly the same time every day. Then I had to stop it as I just couldn’t stand the nonstop spotting and bleeding! I took this BC with the intention to skip my period as I travel a lot for work. Now I ended up with constantly bleeding!? Today is day 3 after I stopped the pill. It turned from spotting to light/medium flow, which is expected, even though it is just in the middle of my normal cycle. I hope my cycle was not too messed up. Definitely not for me!"

For Birth Control "Almost a year later, and I'm still getting a period despite continuously taking the pill. If I continue taking the pill when my period starts, I will bleed until I stop taking it. I have literally bled for a month continuously multiple times while on this. I will take one more round of it and then give up."

For Birth Control "I got off this birth control at the beginning of the year, and I just got back on it a month and a half ago. On the 5th week, I got my period, and now it’s the 6th week, and I’m still on my period, and I’m getting a little over having it. This never happened before when I was on it for 3 years. I don’t know if I should just get off the birth control or get something new. I just got back on it one more time so I wouldn’t have my menstrual on vacation."

For Birth Control "I started this birth control in February, and I experienced spotting for about 2 weeks. Then I started to bleed 1.5 months into it and didn’t stop until I started the next pack. This still happens every pack, and I’ve gotten used to it, but I plan on switching not only because of this. Also, after 4 months on it, I started to realize I became very emotional (which I used to never get upset or rarely cry), and I would go through depressive episodes that lasted about a week where I wouldn’t want to leave the house and would just cry for no reason. I also gained 10 lbs since starting this, but this was over quarantine, so not for sure if I can directly say it was the birth control. I get headaches 2-4 times a week, which I used to never get. My boobs grew two sizes. My acne got a little better, but not really. It did lighten my period, which was nice because I used to have the heaviest period where I could only make it 45 mins in an ultra tampon. Overall, I do not recommend this birth control."

For Birth Control "Ashlyna is my first contraceptive pill. My doctor recommended this for my painful period cramps, etc. The first 3 days was ok. Slight cramp, nausea, and dull headache, but on the 4th day, the pain has intensified. So after 15 days, I decided to stop. It was effective in the sense that it stopped my period, but the nausea and cramping almost every day was worrying. The worst of all side effects is the headache. Pain, needle, excruciating headache on the right side. Now, 1 week after stopping taking the pill, I am still experiencing the headache in the same intensity as the first time. I am someone who almost never had headaches, and having to suffer this almost a month now is disconcerting. I’ve been taking 600 mg ibuprofen every 2-4 hours because the pain is so intense it’s affecting my day-to-day activities. I’ve been regretting being on this pill. It’s supposed to help with my cramps, but instead, I had cramps every day worse. I developed this headache that doesn’t seem to go away. I need to go see the doctor about this."

For Birth Control "So I started this pill to help reduce the ovarian cysts that I was having develop. It has definitely worked at making them get smaller, and they are almost completely gone. Every other birth control I’ve taken has all made me horribly sick and caused my period pains to be so bad I would pass out from the pain and vomit every morning. It would get to the point where I had a period that would not stop for 3 months, and I developed an even worse case of anemia than I had before. With these pills, I am not scared to take birth control anymore. I’ve taken these for a year now and have never once had any complications. I notice that when I miss a day, my period will start immediately, but it’s not nearly as terrible as before. I love that these work in a three-month interval. If other birth control pills are not working for you, I highly recommend trying these. My only complaint would be the price for these pills, as they are $130.00 at my local pharmacy because I do not have insurance."

For Birth Control "Honestly, the best part of Ashlyna is I have little to no cramps like I used to, but now I have long, spotty periods. I've been on this period for probably 2 months straight now, and it's annoying as anything. I'm almost done with this pack, and I'm probably not going to take it again."

For Birth Control "Oh my goodness! I loved this birth control. I’m used to extremely heavy, gruesome periods, and this definitely tamed them down. Love the period every 3 months. HOWEVER! I have gained over 30 POUNDS in the 5 months I’ve been taking it. I have never ever been this heavy. I do not overeat, I don’t even eat very much. My doctor said it most definitely is from this birth control. I’d rather be overweight than pregnant, but I’m switching immediately. I’m 30 and have been on birth control for 15 years. I have never experienced weight gain from birth control before. Bye, Ashlyna!"

For Birth Control "I started taking Ashlyna for bad cramps. Within 4 days, I had horrible bloat and gas pains. I stopped the pill after 4 days. This was 5 days ago, I am still having stomach issues and just got my period again after finishing it a week ago. This is a heavy one with horrendous cramps. Not worth it."
