For Birth Control "So far, I have been feeling good on this pill. It’s the very first form of birth control I have ever taken. I haven’t had any spotting or bad side effects. The only thing that bothered me was that my breasts were really tender/sore for quite a few days, but that went away. I’ve only taken it for 3 months, and I’m about to start the yellow pills. I don’t know how my period will be, but if I can edit this review, I’ll keep y’all posted."

For Birth Control "I’m nearly finished with my first package of this birth control and have been bleeding for 8+ weeks. I have PCOS and pretty much never had periods before taking this—maybe once every 12-16 months, so I’m not sure if this is overdue bleeding or what (if that is even a thing). It’s been varying—mostly heavy with a week or two of light, and occasionally chunky bits of blood. For the most part, I don’t experience much pain or discomfort, however, I have had lengthy bouts of insomnia, the desire to isolate, and an increased appetite. I’d say it hasn’t negatively affected my high sex drive but has made me more anxious overall. Occasionally, I feel sharp bursts of pain in my lower abdomen, but this is something I have felt before. I’m going to start my second pack this Monday and am hoping this lengthy period has been breakthrough bleeding and will subside at the 12-week cutoff...but I’ll post an update at the end of the second 13 weeks."

For Birth Control "This pill did nothing but mess me up. My periods were out of whack and heavy. Did not help and do not recommend it. My period lasted 3 weeks from November to December, and now after being off of it for 3 months. I had one period in April, and now I have no period at all, just the side effects of still being on it. Cramps like I never had before the pill, late and irregular periods still."

For Birth Control "I’m going on my fourth month taking this pill, and so far, I am not pleased. I was prescribed this pill to control my bleeding. When I started taking them, I had my normal cycle that lasted a little longer due to the breakthrough bleeding. Then, no period for nearly two months. I’ve taken consistently in the evening before bed. When I started the pill for the last week of month three (not even the placebo), I started bleeding again, and three weeks later, I’m still bleeding. It’s not heavy, but enough for me to know that this pill is not for me. I’m going to finish the pack, then I’m done."

For Birth Control "My gyno put me on this because at 22, I have an on-the-go lifestyle, working for months at a time abroad. The first 2.5 months, this was incredible as I skipped two periods; however, at the 2.5-month marker, in the middle of my hormonal dosage, I accidentally skipped one day. Period came with a fury, even when continuing on schedule. At first, came minor bleeding that I thought was spotting and lasted about a week to 2 weeks. Then, in the middle of the second week, I thought honestly I might be hemorrhaging (turns out menorhagia) and had to wear both a pad and a tampon and change multiple times an hour. This, along with fatigue, existing anemia, and jetlag, pretty much took me out of myself for an entire month. Going on week 4 and I am still waiting for the flow to subside. I only lasted one packet, a 3-month cycle on this. I know everyone’s body is different, and some have had positive reactions, but I absolutely will not recommend any birth control that skips your period each month. Especially Ashlyna."

For Birth Control "I began taking this birth control to reduce my periods since I have bad cramps during my period. The first month went fine, no period. Once I got into week 1-2 of the second month, I have had my period for 11 days and counting (when my cycle lasts for 5 days without this medication). The cramps are worse being on this medication than not taking it at all. I wasn’t told about the side effects of this medication until I did my own research."

For Birth Control "The first two or three months I was fine using Ashlyna birth control. But towards the end of my 3-month pack, before I got to my placebo pills, I got a brown menstrual cycle, which I've never experienced before in my life. It went away for a week, then when I started my next pack, the brown menstrual cycle started literally a couple of hours after I took the pill. After that, I have had a brown menstrual cycle 24/7, every day, with some clotting for going on 6 weeks now. Yes, you read it correctly, I've had a brown menstrual cycle flowing every single day, 24/7 for 6 weeks, something is wrong with that and has put a damper on my sex life. I've been breaking out with little bumps on my forehead and the sides of my cheeks. My doctor told me to just go straight to the placebo pills, then a new brand of birth control that has less estrogen in it. Instead, I stopped taking Ashlyna altogether as I don't want any more harm being done to my body. I do NOT recommend this pill."

For Birth Control "I loved this birth control. I’ve been on it for four months with breakthrough bleeding the second month twice and haven’t bled since. I skipped the placebo pills also. The only problem I have is the packaging! It’s so hard to get them out, it’s ridiculous!"

For Birth Control "I took this birth control for about 2 years. It was great at first, and I loved the less frequent period, but my family and I began to notice it was making my anxiety and depression much worse and almost drove me to suicide. Couldn't figure out why my mental health had worsened all of a sudden until I had to stop my birth control for a medical procedure. Wouldn't recommend for someone with mental health issues."

For Birth Control "I have been on this type of birth control for years now, but this brand is one that I have asked my pharmacy not to give me again. For some reason, they recently started carrying this generic rather than the Amethia that I have been taking for several years. The packaging is awful! It doesn't stay closed, and getting the pills out of the blister packs is difficult."

For Birth Control "I've been on Ashlyna for about 9 months now, and I've got to say that this is the best BC I've ever tried! I went through quite a few different brands in an effort to find one that worked for me, but none of them would stop my period. I'd still get it during weird times while taking my active pills. My doctor finally tried me on Ashlyna, and I love it! I get a very small amount of spotting every so once in a while, but aside from that, no period! I've not experienced any weight gain, and I feel like it's really helped to stabilize my moods and prevent acne too! Wish I had found this birth control a long time ago because it is AMAZING!!!"

For Birth Control "Absolutely did not like Ashlyna. I was on it for 6 months. I spotted constantly, sex drive dropped, acne did not get any better, and my emotions were all over the place. I felt down all the time, and it wasn’t until stopping the pill altogether that I’ve noticed how much happier my body is off of it!"

For Birth Control "After so many different birth controls to assist my iron deficiency and finally end my insanely heavy and long periods, I finally had been prescribed Ashlyna. This birth control is the best that I've tried, and I've tried a lot of the pills. I only get a period every three months, and it's always small and minimal. It helps with acne, and I didn't gain weight!"

For Birth Control "I had a horrible experience on this medication. I didn't last more than 10 days on it. I was originally on Junel Fe, but I didn't want to get a monthly cycle, so my OB-GYN recommended Seasonique (Ashlyna). This medication made me gush! Nonstop heavy clotting, terrible cramps, loss of appetite. I lost so much blood over the past 3 weeks, after standing for a certain amount of hours, I would become lightheaded and dizzy. I stopped taking it 7 days ago, and I'm still bleeding and having cramps. Also, I've been having mild chest pain. I will do an EKG and chest X-ray tomorrow. I feel like this birth control is ruining my life, and I pray that I stop bleeding soon. Mentally, I am not okay at all, I feel so depressed and desperate."

For Birth Control "I have been on this birth control for 1 1/2 years. I really was doing well on it until 4 months ago. I got my period on time, but this time it was so heavy it was almost uncontrollable. Passing huge clots for 3 weeks. I was so tired but no other side effects. Then 3 months later, I got my period again. It was super heavy, I couldn’t even wear regular pads. I had to use pads made for bladder dysfunction. It lasted for almost four weeks. I collapsed and had to be brought to the ER. I was in critical condition, anemia. I had HALF the amount of blood in my body as I should have had. I had to have 3 blood transfusions and 2 iron infusions. This week, I had to go back to the hospital because of severe chest pain and shortness of breath. They looked for blood clots in my heart and lungs BECAUSE I am on BIRTH CONTROL! Thankfully I don’t have any, but I am getting off this birth control and staying off any birth control as soon as possible."

For Birth Control "I started Ashlyna to control my heavy periods. When my doctor told me about this birth control and that I would only have my period every 3 months, I jumped on it. Now everyone is different, so this is my experience. I was on another type of birth control, and it worked great for 3 years, light bleeding for 4 days, and I was very regular, like clockwork. Then I noticed my periods started becoming heavy again, large clots, and painful cramps. When my doctor told me about Ashlyna, I switched to it. The first 2 weeks went fine. Week 3 into the first pill back, I started bleeding, cramps, major mood swings, and bad hot flashes. I have now been bleeding for 3 weeks and still going, still have the mood swings, cramps, and hot flashes, and I just don't feel like myself. Needless to say, I called my doctor and told her I am not taking it anymore, and I want to switch back to my other pill. I will deal with 4 days of heavy bleeding and cramping. Ashlyna is not the birth control for me."

For Birth Control "Up until recently, I would have given Ashlyna a 10/10... that’s until I figured out the root of my issues. For the last 6 or 7 months, I have noticed a horrible change in my attitude. I have 3 children, and absolutely anything they would do, I would lose my mind. I got extremely mad over absolutely nothing. I couldn’t stand to be talked to, I couldn’t stand to have anything extra going on... especially noise or chaos, and that’s not me! I also noticed that my depression was at an all-time low. Like, I just couldn’t take life. Everything was too much, and I just mentally was NOT okay. BUT it wasn’t until I started bleeding randomly in my cycle that I realized I can’t do this birth control. I have been on it a year in January, and it was doing so good period-wise up until this month. I had absolutely no breakthrough bleeding, and my periods were exactly every 90 days. After reading the reviews, I’m starting to wonder, though, if the acne I’ve started to get isn't from Ashlyna..."

For Birth Control "Since I started the second pack, I’ve been bleeding and have horrible cramps for 12 days now, and I’m bleeding really heavy, which I never did previously, before a few days of my period, and that was it. I’m still taking the pills, but so far I’m still bleeding. I’m not impressed with this pill so far. I’d rather go back to having a normal period every month than this!!!"

For Birth Control "I started the Ashlyna birth control pills about two years ago, and I had the pack where I’m supposed to get my period every three months. Two separate times, I had forgotten to take my pill one day, and I got a period for the rest of the thirteen-week package of pills. Now I had taken my birth control every night and keep getting breakthrough bleeding that I already know is going to last for the rest of the thirteen-week package as well. And not to mention I’m only on week eight, so I’ll end up bleeding for the next five weeks."

For Birth Control "The birth controls I had tried were causing migraines during my placebo. So naturally, I asked for the knockoff of Seasonique, so if I were to have migraines, they would at least be every month instead of every 3 months. I experienced, for the entirety of my time on this contraceptive, “breakthrough bleeding” (according to the OBGYN nurse), but really I would describe it more as hemorrhaging chunks. It also caused a loss in sex drive, which I didn’t fully realize until I switched to something else. Absolutely do not recommend this contraceptive."

For Birth Control "I use this birth control on and off for the past 3 years. Mostly because I want to skip my period, but when I start getting the bad side effects, I stop taking them for months. The worst side effect is the anxiety and weight gain. I feel like I always am hungry, 2 months of taking them, I’ve gained 10 pounds. It makes me crave stuff like when I was pregnant. The other side effect is that every time I'm finishing a pack (when I’m supposed to get my period), I have the worst PMS symptoms. I get dizzy and tired and want to vomit. It’s just the worst 3 days. Last time I stopped taking them for 2 days, I had my period on and off for 4 weeks. I’m getting off this pill today after reading the reviews consistent with my experience."

For Birth Control "I would give Ashlyna 0 stars if I could - less even. I've been on Ashlyna for just over 2 years now, and it was fantastic in the beginning, however, right at the 2-year mark, during my placebo/period week, I had heavy bleeding, couldn't sleep, had no appetite, and felt dizzy. I have had blood work done, and there is no explanation for why this is happening. I am on day 4 of a new pill and hope this one works more efficiently."

For Birth Control "After getting my IUD removed, I wanted to switch back to the pill due to complications. I didn’t get nausea with this pill like I have with others, which was nice. It did cause me to gain about 15-20 pounds. I also had a low sex drive with Ashlyna, being a young woman who had always had a very high sex drive, it was really weird to me. I also got pretty bad acne with this pill, painful hard bumps. It did its job as far as preventing pregnancy, but personally, I didn’t like it due to side effects. Every woman is different, it might be worth a try."

For Birth Control "Okay, so I actually just started this. I was fine the first two months. I just started the last month before I start my period, and now I'm spotting really bad, and it was scaring me at first, but reading everyone else's kind of made it easier. Could it just be the fact that I'm on the last month or could it be something bad wrong?"
