For Birth Control "I decided to get on Ashlyna in April/May 2020 sometime. The only side effect I’m noticing is the aching pain in my thighs I would have when I have my cycle. I decided on Ashlyna to not worry about a cycle so much. I’ve always had cystic hormonal acne every now and then, and I’d say it’s not as bad, but I do encounter a random breakout. I’ve only missed one day whenever a pill went down the drain and ended up having an “accident,” so staying consistent helps."

For Birth Control "DO NOT TAKE, I’ve gained 26 pounds in 6 months, spotting soon as you are an hour or 2 late taking this pill, mood swings, and my anxiety is through the roof. The worst experience EVER! It cleared up my maskne but was not worth it!"

For Birth Control "Was on it for about 2 months, and during that time I had mild cramping, weight gain, and bloating. As I continued it, I began to notice terrible mood swings, increased depression, increased anxiety, and migraine headaches. I wanted to try and stick it out for a few more months to see if the side effects would gradually go away, but I honestly don't think it's worth the increased depression and mood swings. I do not recommend this."

For Birth Control "I have 2 uterine fibroids, and my periods are really heavy. I was put on this to manage the heavy bleeding. I have been using this for a year. The spotting has been horrible! Over a month straight of spotting. I always spot one to two months before I am supposed to have a cycle. My Dr. says to stay with it, and it will stop... and a year later... still spotting. Not to mention the weight gain! I have gained 15 pounds within the last year! I hate it. I will be switching to try a different one."

For Birth Control "I'm a 31-year-old female who started this BC mainly for easier periods as my tubes are tied. My periods are so heavy that I bleed through a thick pad and super or ultra tampon every hour. At first, Ashlyna seemed okay. Well, now I'm on my third package set of it, and today is the day I quit these pills! With my first pack, I bled the whole damn time. My period 'placebo' week was horrific, more than my normal horrible periods. I ended up going to the ER because I bled through over 80 tampons in a week. One week. And I was clotting so badly. My GYN said hang on, it'll get better. Well, after 6 months of being on it and literally only having one week of no spotting the entire time, I'm done! Here are the side effects that happened to me: weight gain of at least 15 lbs in 6 months. Always exhausted. No sex drive. I also have never had a yeast infection or bacterial infection until being on this medicine. Everyone gets affected differently, so this is just my experience."

For Birth Control "I’m not sure if it’s related to this drug, but as soon as I started it, I’ve had awful fainting spells. I’m constantly afraid of passing out unexpectedly. I’ve also been really bloated, and my acne is terrible."

For Birth Control "I have been on this birth control for 5 and 1/2 months. The first pack was alright, I had a little breakthrough bleeding for about a week, but it stopped, and then I had a very nice and light period when it came to the end of the pack. However, since I have started my 2nd pack, I have been on my period nonstop since week 4... it is now week 11. Another fun side effect I found is that I have gained a ton of weight. Needless to say, I'm switching birth controls."

For Birth Control "I started this pill back in December 2018 in hopes of having a period every 3 months due to bad cramps. Well, let me just tell you, this pill is awful. I have been spotting for a month, my hair is falling out like crazy, mood swings and depression, and I'm constantly tired. I am currently on month three, and I'm getting off of this mess as soon as possible. I highly recommend looking into other birth control."

For Birth Control "Started taking in November of 2017 for normal birth control, and I took it for five months. I almost never had a full week without at least some spotting. Some days it would be more than spotting--like a full-on period. I really wanted this to work. Very disappointed!"

For Birth Control "Ashlyna was my second birth control. I was on a monthly one, but I have such miserable cramping during my period that I would get sick. My doctor recommended Ashlyna so the frequency of my pain would be decreased to 4 times a year rather than monthly. However, I'm extremely disappointed. She told me to give it some time... so I made it through the first three months and spotted just about every week; along with the spotting was some slight cramping. I've decided to keep trying with it... I'm going on a year on this medication, and it has done horrible for me. I can last about a month to a month and a half with no period now, but then I'll have it for a month straight with miserable cramping the entire time for the last month. Then I get to the actual week I should have my period, and it's heavy with awful cramping. Along with all of this, I've noticed changes in my energy and weight... sadly, not positive changes. I'm about to go to my doctor to be taken off."

For Birth Control "I experienced dry mouth the first week of taking Ashlyna. I am on week 9 currently and have not experienced any issues and find this birth control to work extremely well with my body. I originally went on this pill to assist with headaches experienced when premenstrual, the headaches have completely stopped, and I am pleased overall with no lasting side effects."

For Birth Control "I have been on 3-month birth control for 8 years. I have had various brands based on availability at various pharmacies. This is the first time I've had this brand, I will specifically ask to never get it again. The packaging is HORRIBLE. It doesn't stay folded or compact (God forbid anyone on this pill travel or have to pack it away discreetly). I have never had this problem with any other generic brands. The pills are also hard to get out since there is no firm leverage against the cardboard. One would think that for medication costing $200 (if no insurance) a reasonable package could be included. Lastly, the package says 'keep out of sunlight.' Well, that is difficult when there is no way of folding the package and keeping it compact."

For Birth Control "I started this pill just about three weeks ago. I switched from Estarylla in order to skip my periods. I had some breakthrough bleeding (more like spotting) for the first week, which was annoying, but after reading other reviews seems normal for being new to the pill. I have definitely noticed mood differences (sadness and overall moodiness), but nothing out of the ordinary for getting used to a new pill. Be wary of nausea the first few weeks, I was near vomiting almost every night the first week, but it has since gone away. Aside from these side effects, which honestly haven't impacted my life that much, this pill has been working great! Most of the side effects feel like they're starting to wear off as my body adapts to the new pill."

For Birth Control "25-year-old here. I have been taking Ashlyna for close to a year now to help with my iron deficiency. Let me say this: I absolutely love getting my period every 3 months. That is the biggest pro of this BC. In addition, my period has decreased to 3-4 days now (during the first 2 batches, it was around a week of bleeding a lot). Now for cons: 1) I have definitely noticed a decrease in my sex drive. My vagina has never been so dry during intimacy, and I have become very upset and frustrated with this. 2) CRAMPS. I get random cramps during the months that I don't have my period. These cramps become more frequent and painful the closer I get to my period date. I also get sudden and painful cramps when I am becoming aroused in intimacy; this has NEVER occurred until I began to take this BC. Additionally, during my period, I have 2-3 very, very heavy days where the cramps are the most painful."

For Birth Control "I was looking forward to this birth control, only getting my period once a month sounded great. Yet I’m on my 6th month, and I’ve been bleeding so often. At times, I would spot for a month straight. Yes, it’s only spotting, but to be spotting for that long is so tiring. I would rather just get a consistent period once a month. At least I tried it. I’m going to switch off this pill and go back to getting my period once a month."

For Birth Control "I am a dumb person and stopped taking birth control because I have PCOS and don’t have a period or anything unless I’m on birth control. I started dating this guy and wanted to get back on birth control, but didn’t want to bleed every month, so my doctor recommended Ashlyna. It was fine for the first month, and then around the middle of the second month, I started bleeding a little. I bled for over a month straight and had horrible cramps, even though I had never experienced cramps or any period symptoms before. I also went through like 10+ super plus tampons a day and had to wear pads at the same time. After I bled for so long, I was told to double up on the pill to stop the bleeding, but I ran out early and my insurance wouldn’t cover me to refill. In order to avoid that from happening again, my doctor suggested for me to stop taking anything for a week, and then start a generic pack. Now I bleed every month, but it’s better than the alternative."

For Birth Control "If I could give this no stars, I would. This is my second pack, and I thought it would be different than the first pack. My first 5 weeks in, I started spotting, then my period came on for 22 days. I finally just stopped taking them and restarted them later that Sunday. It stopped my period from coming on, and my period came on when I got to the placebo pills. I started the second pack and was hoping that my body had adjusted to them by now. But the second pack, and 5 weeks in, I have started spotting again. I have decided to just stop taking them altogether. I have literally gained about 15 pounds in less than 5 months, and the cons of these pills outweigh the pros (of only getting your period every 3 months)."

For Birth Control "I'm 43 years old and was looking for fewer periods per year. Since I've had no issues in the past, a hysterectomy would be considered 'elective.' Well, no issues till NOW. Three doctors and one urgent care visit later, I'm still bleeding. It's been two months nonstop, to the point I've now become anemic. Extremely fatigue and no sex drive. I feel like I'm losing my mind and that no one understands how incredibly bad this is for me. Now I've got another appointment with yet another doctor and hopefully she'll be able to get this under control. Seriously explore ALL your options, and if you can avoid this medication... DO SO. PLEASE save time and frustration. DO NOT TAKE THIS MEDICATION."

For Birth Control "I just started taking this medication over 2 weeks ago, and I cannot even explain how much it has already set me back. I began this specific birth control to lessen the amount of periods I was having, but I am so excited to have my body back. My depression and anxiety tanked just within two weeks of taking Ashlyna. If I feel this way now, I just can't even imagine what it would do with further use. I really tried to push through the first few months, but I can no longer take the way this medication has made me feel. Not to mention, I can literally feel the energy drain from my body every day. Forget being able to go to class and study for school. I have had to take a nap after just being awake for an hour or so. So not normal for me."

For Birth Control "First off, I'll start by saying that not everyone is the same, so this BC will obviously react differently to different people. Buying birth control is simply a game where you have to try them all to find one that truly works how you want. So I'm on my 2nd week of this, and so far, so good! I've had no bleeding, very mild cramps, nothing that I can't handle. My main reason for being on BC is obviously not to get pregnant, but I have ALWAYS had ridiculous periods. Most of the time, I pass out at least 1 time during my cycle due to cramps, so the cramps I've experienced while taking this haven't been nearly as bad as the ones I've experienced. So overall, super excited about that. Packaging is kinda bulky, but I have a big purse, so no worries!"

For Birth Control "I switched about 3 months ago from the generic Lo Seasonique (3-month pill) to Ashlyna because of certain side effects. At first, I was happy with this pill because those previous side effects went away almost instantly, but for the past 3 days on the placebo, I've had the worst cramping and heaviest period I've ever had. I went to the doctor a month ago for a checkup and also noticed I've gained 10 pounds...I've never gained weight on a birth control pill, safe to say I'm officially done with Ashlyna."

For Birth Control "I've never bled so badly on a pill before. On my old generic, it was a normal amount. Now I've developed problems with anemia. My anxiety is worse. I've had an increase in paranoid feelings. I'm broken out like a teenager! I'm off this pill ASAP."

For Birth Control "I was on another pill before pregnancy and it worked great. Then, after having a baby, my OB suggested Ashlyna. I’m not a big fan because it feels like I’m on my period every week, and it stops for a week and back on my period consistently. They say you’re supposed to have your period every 3 months, but I’ve had it for 2 months, and some days I feel like it’s over, but it comes back the next day. Not a big fan."

For Birth Control "I’m 22, I am on my 4th month, and TBH before I started taking Ashlyna, I was terrified, especially after reading these reviews. I’ve had trouble finding the right birth control, but I can honestly say having your period every 3 months is way better than every month. The first 2 months, my breasts were huge and tender, I was depressed and anxious, and my sex drive almost didn’t exist. (Which was quite depressing, hahah.) But other than that, I have had no other side effects. All side effects are gonna now!! For weight gain, I am an active gym member and eat clean, and my weight hasn’t changed. I have only experienced my period once so far while taking Ashlyna, but it was a little longer than my normal period, around 4-5 days. Cramps were mild. I also experienced very little to no spotting throughout these 4 months. My only complaint is I am experiencing yeast infections a lot more than usual, which sucks, hopefully, my hormones will eventually get used to the birth control and they’ll stop."
