For Depression "I suffer from depression. I’ve tried different meds and none have seemed to help. I heard of Spravato and was very excited to know there was a treatment out there that could work. I’ve done 6 sessions of Spravato and have seen no improvement. I have an appointment tomorrow for another treatment. I really don’t like the experience. As you inhale the Spravato you get the nasty taste. Then you’re in for a ride of feeling like you’re outside your body. Feeling like you’re completely numb. Face feet etc. I hate the whole experience. Everyone is different. I hope this works for others that are going to try this. Good luck!"

For Depression "I went through a series of 6 ketamine IV infusions. It was life changing. The drawback being that the effects and relief lasted days/weeks. But when it is working it is miraculous. Due to a good response to the Ketamine but not able to prolong the effects, Spravato was prescribed for me. I began week 1 with 2 treatments( required 2 treatments every week for first 4 weeks). It is much milder, less intense, and effective in my view based on my response. Both dosages were at 56mg, the required initial dose. I believe that I may have better results with the 84mg and will be trying that dosage next week for week 2."

For Depression "I posted my experience earlier and now I have done a total of 10 treatments of the nasal spray Spravato. 2 at 56mg and the rest at 84mg. After sessions 6 I started to feel a little lighter and less depressed but this lasted very shortly. The treatments after that did nothing for me. They are very intense and you get awful disassociation, dizziness, numbness. Its a complete out of body experience. For me the feelings were very bothersome & after I would leave I was done for the day. I couldn’t do anything just lay around. I guess if it worked for me I would have sucked it up & continued even though the side effects were so bothersome. Unfortunately for me this didn’t work and it cost me a fortune. Personally I wouldn’t advise others to do this until there is more research about it. It is still very new and drs are still learning by experimenting on us! However the one done by IV is not as new. I will continue to fight the fight but will never do Spravato again."

For Major Depressive Disorder "I have struggled with TRD most of my life. I did not respond well to other medications or therapies. My first treatment with Spravato at 56 was amazing, My second at 84mg was intense, unpleasant and also very beneficial in helping me address an issue. During treatment my service dog died and the grief was overwhelming. I went in crying and came out better able to cope. This is a game changer for me. The dissociative aspects help me to get out of my own way and address issues. I’m going to continue taking this weekly because each time it feels I’m dropping some sad heavy weights and leaving them behind."

For Depression "Have had maybe 5 Spravato treatments. Almost immediately felt better on depressive feelings associated with chronic pain. I seemed to notice the dissociative effects varied wildly from treatment to treatment, and believe the stronger the effect, the more medicine gets to my brain. Today I decided not to swallow for as long as possible, theorizing swallowing what drains from the sinuses is lost to effects of stomach acid. Well as I swished the drainage (yeah kinda gross but it travels that path in any event) and avoided swallowing for as long as possible I experienced the strongest dissociative effects to date. Makes sense as the medicine is absorbed through membranes in the mouth rather than lost to stomach. I may be wrong but I think the more dissociative, the more medicine gets to the brain, the more impactful the effect , the better I will feel. Will update as I continue the process, assuming I don’t drown:)"

For Depression "After trying an absurd amount of antidepressants and various meds and finding no improvement, Spravato changed my life. I won't begin to lie, saying the experience is easy. No, especially the first two or three times, you will get blasted into the damn moon. Very, very intense. Shortly after beginning this treatment and continuing for a few weeks, the improvements were amazing. My family and friends could see how much better I was doing, and I could even notice the improvements in myself (which is often really hard to find). I really encourage anyone else with treatment-resistant depression to try Spravato."

For Depression "I’ve had 5 Spravato treatments so far for depression. I felt a lightening of my mood after the first three treatments, however the feeling didn’t last long maybe 24 hours. I’m hopeful that with continued treatments I will improve. I don’t have a strong reaction to the medication when it’s administered, just a slight disassociation with time and place that I can easily bring into perspective. The nasal spray dripping down your throat is horrible and I take zofran and omeprazole before my appointments to counter. I had 15 ketamine injections a year ago and they helped a little. I’ve yet to have an infusion. I know that is the gold standard but I cannot afford it financially."

For Major Depressive Disorder "Cannot speak to effectiveness just yet, but this is my experience. I was very nervous going into it. I do not have experience with substances other than alcohol and THC (which I respond very badly to), so I was pretty scared that Spravato would really mess me up and I'd have a bad time. I am also super prone to nausea. My first dose went just fine. Took a few minutes for me to feel the effects, but they were manageable. I was pretty lucid the entire time. My head felt a little swimmy, I sometimes couldn't feel parts of my body, and my perception of time was out of whack. But no nausea, paranoia, etc. I actually felt very pleasant the entire time. The next dose, I did have a few minor moments of panic (once because there was a loud noise, once because it was too quiet and that scared me for some reason) but they subsided quickly. I have felt pretty good in the days after my first doses, but no marked improvement yet."

For Major Depressive Disorder "It’s working for me. The first month wasn’t pleasant. I tried to go in with an open mind, but when nothing had happened during the third week, I felt desperate. Then after the 6th session (third week) I was able to do some minor tasks that had seemed overwhelming. By the end of the 4th week I felt significantly less depressed—no suicidal thoughts at all, less hopelessness, more willing to engage with the outside world. Feeling some pleasure. I’d estimate that I’ve achieved a 70% lift from one of the darkest and longest passages I’ve ever experienced. I’m currently stabilized at a higher level than what I’ve achieved after adjusting meds until I’m on a combo that works for a while. I ruminate less. I get off the couch occasionally. Most important, my head is clear enough that I can do some work in therapy. Unfortunately Janssen’s long-term study was for maybe 8 months, so who knows how long it’ll work?"

For Major Depressive Disorder "Hello I have been using spravato for about 4 months now and I'm on the highest dose and I have to say that I am actually getting worse to the point I don't think I'm going to use it anymore. Right now at this moment writing this I'm in the most depressed state of mind I've ever been in. I'm so so tired of hurting. Nothing but darkness follows and overshadows me. I just can't take feeling the way that I'm feeling. I've tried many medications, tms, spravato and nothing has worked. I want to try ect but I can't find anyone to take my insurance. I can't eat, I can't sleep, I haven't bathed in over a year and my hair is falling out. Plus I have a lot of physical pain because of an autoimmune disease, I can't find anyone to prescribe me pain meds so I'm just one big ball of pain. I was hoping spravato would have worked but it hasn't."

For Depression "Starting fourth week tomorrow Spravato has helped a little but still have anxiety especially when waking in morning. It may or may not work but I’m better than I was hope it lasts. I may try Kratom if this doesn’t work, do not want to be as bad as I was. My clinician is great and believe me not all clinicians are all not that caring. I had to see someone else for one dosing and she left me in the room for 40 minutes by myself. Not good when you're tripping out."

For Depression "Spravato was recommended by my psychiatric nurse practitioner for MDD because I have struggled for more than 30 years. I was well informed of the side effects, but no one reported that anything like what I experienced. I think it’s important for anyone who is considering using Spravato to hear about as many different experiences as possible. While most experiences are positive, mine was not. After I administered the second dose, about 10 minutes or so, I began to feel like I was falling, spinning and losing my mind, completely out of control. I sat there for almost 4 hours hours absolutely terrified. Terrified that I would never feel “normal”again, that I would die, I would lose everything that I cared about. I cried in fear and begged the person who gave me the medicine to make it stop. I begged her to tell me that it would stop and that I would feel normal again. I’m still traumatized by the experience and feel like some of the effects are still happening 3 months later."

For Depression "I've been on esketamine and rapid TMS for over a month now and I'm starting to see some small improvements. 84mg gives me some intense reactions. I found that putting your head between your legs after you inject until it soaks in really amplifies the effects. I'd use regular ketamine but my insurance won't cover it and at $400 a visit that's not going to happen. I got approved to use Spravato for a year when needed and Jannsen Pharmaceutical is picking up my copay for now. They have a plan to pay for your medication if needed and 80,000$ net a year or less qualifies. I'm plan on switching to rTMS by itself soon. It only takes 5 minutes and no restrictions on my day."

For Major Depressive Disorder "I complete week 4 Monday. 84 mg is super strong - can be trippy. Start with 56 mg. Do NOT drive for several hours. Do NOT move around much during the session as you could get nauseous. My depression is much improved so far. improved, but this is not a magic bullet."

For Depression "I have had 3 sessions of 56 mg. First time had the most dramatic side effects, very strong dizziness and disassociation. Next day I felt great. Second session had the worst reaction. Side effects last through the evening, dizziness and nausea. Next day I felt like my head was full of mud, couldn't make any decisions, had a blank look on my face all day...didn't feel like I was in this world. And the third session seemed to be somewhere in the middle. The side effects during and the evening of weren't too bad. The next day I functioned and went to work like a typical day. I can't say I have seen relief from my depression. Dr. thinks I should still give it a few more times. But I am going through a difficult time in my life so maybe my depression would be way worse if I didn't have the spravato treatments?"

For Major Depressive Disorder "Who needs therapy when there’s Spravato ? Paradoxically my own reservations almost kept me from trying this drug that turned my entire life around. I went from sleeping on the floor at my moms & in an abusive long distance relationship , to getting my own place and finally having the courage to leave the relationship. At the twice a week regimen, I was even going to the gym after work- pretty much unheard of for me in the last decade . I was discouraged to find that when I tapered to once every other week my depression seemed to be making its way back, however I am very lucky to be treated at a place that allows me to go back to more frequent visits. I cannot say enough good things about Spravato, and I’m not sure what my life would be without it. Lexapro took me out of a completely mental state, and Spravato ensured I stay there."

For Major Depressive Disorder "I am using this for PTSD. The drug experience is horrible. After I spray it in my nose and it begins to take effect I pray it will end. The feeling is so horrible. I want to throw up, I can't physically move, I can't assess where I am, I can't "sense" anything but I am aware of how bad I feel and pray it ends. For 24 hours after each treatment I am a worthless dish rag. I feel my brain will never come back. No ability to think and want to vomit. I can't take many drugs. I have severe reactions. I opted to try Spravato because it is not every day. You won't want a soul near you when under the effects in office. I feel I am in prison. Trapped. Can't scream. Buried alive with no help. It is a bad trip. If it treats PTSD it is worth more the nightmare side effects that is the only reason I tried it. I have had allergic reaction to everything ever given to me. I am not allergic to spravato. I just am terrified of how it makes me feel. I dread treatment."

For Major Depressive Disorder "My major depressive disorder is drug resistant. I used Sparvarto at a doctors office 3 times weekly for about 6 weeks. My first 2 weeks, were filled with sadness, followed by mad anger (PTSD Symptoms) for the following 2 and experienced deeper sadness and suicidal ideation for the last two. We then stopped treatment about a month ago and I am still struggling with deep sadness.I feel disappointed. I had been so hoping for lasting help. I've begun to lose hope that I'll never again experience life with more delight."

For Major Depressive Disorder "Spravato ended up making me have suicidal thoughts and I think maybe go into a psychosis or something... I took it for a month. Twice in one week 34mg, and then the rest ones were 84mg once a week. You take it like a nasal spray and it burns a lot. I just couldn’t move and felt drunk like mucked up seeing tracers for about 45 minutes maybe. I didn’t like how I couldn’t move. I was completely numb, it helps pain for that time. But when it wore off I was still numb mentally. I would get angry when it wore off. It just has to be known, it made me worse. They told me it was impossible to feel worse. Which is so stupid. I also have PTSD, social anxiety and generalized. Spravato made me take a lot of steps back. I had worked so hard to the point to where I was and it tore it all down. Now I am a lot better and building it back up. But I just still don’t feel 100%. I hope I do. It made me aggressive, I wanted to fight people and harm myself. I used to be addicted to self harming."

For Depression "My first treatment was actually exceptionally frightening. When it appeared to peak, I could not move and felt frozen. A very low soft short mumble of a couple of words when asked a question. Lips barely moved. Very very dark and distorted visual when eyes are closed. Open eyes, very difficult to see, and also quite dark. Felt very very trapped. Wasn't sure if I was dying. Remained highish for several hours after. Also, next 2 days had negative side effects, which a friend also observed. Never again!"

For Major Depressive Disorder "I have struggled with treatment resistant depression (TRD) since, I was dx'd with MDD in 1988. Things really got bad around 2001, and I had to go on disability. I have been fortunate in that I have been treated by some of the best psychiatrist in the game. Prior to being allowed to access Spravato between 2019 and 2020, I had received every Pharmacological, and Psychological Treatment available, Including TMS (extensive), and ECT, including a 1 year outpatient course of intensive ECT. Despite all of this I pretty much remained in Depressive Hell..or as I heard One expert describe it, "The Anti-life." Spravato, combined with a comprehensive Bio-Psycho-Social Treatment Approach, allowed me to Attain Recovery and Remission for the first time in over 30 years. However, my Insurance quit covering it, at the end of 2020. I actually thought I could do ok without it, so I did not really pursue trying to stay on it at that time. I was ok for awhile, but the past year has been particularly rough, and I intend to try and resume."

For Major Depressive Disorder "I’ve just had my 9th Spravato at 84mg. I have only today felt the effects on me. It was not a scary ‘trip’ but it wasn’t nice. I felt distressed and a bit ‘out of it’. For example, I have chronic lower back pain, I felt the pain but couldn’t feel my legs. I am trying to find the positive side of this in the fact that at least I did feel it. I was really worried that it wasn’t working at all. I now hope number 10 has an effect as well. They are talking about possibly moving me from the Spravato spray to Ketamine infusions. So I will update you as soon as I can. At the moment my mood is still desperately low and suicidal thoughts are paramount. I hope my next ‘review’ is a more positive one."

For Depression "So far I am on my 3rd time of doing the Spravato Nasal spray. 2x I did 56mg and one time the 82mg I believe. I feel exactly the same. No change at all!! My Dr told me to at least give it to the one month mark. It makes me feel awful during it I get the disassociation and dizziness along with every other side effect and I will say it takes me more than 2 hours to wear off. Pretty much the whole day. I am hoping the next few treatments work otherwise I have. Wasted a lot of time and money:-("
