For Epilepsy "72-year-old man with epilepsy diagnosed at 13. Many seizures as a young adult, but seizure-free for approximately 30 years. Take 500 mg Depakote ER twice a day and Dilantin 100 mg twice a day. My side effect has been weight gain. But the medications have been very effective in my case."

For Migraine Prevention "This has been the most helpful migraine preventative - my migraines were becoming a full-time disability, and for the first time in a long time, I’m hopeful - my doctor added 20-30 mg of Vyvanse (stimulant - a very low dose) to suppress appetite and lethargy, and it is amazing - no appetite, no weight gain, and I’m energetically working full-time. Fingers crossed it keeps working. Try the stimulant to prevent the weight gain!"

For Bipolar Disorder "I've been taking this for a few years, and I have severe headaches often, along with suffering from low back pain, which is constant on my left side, and nothing is soothing it. Laying down is excruciating, and I'm in the process of running tests. This started about 4 months ago, and I have been trying to deal with it and hope that it would eventually go away. It's becoming unbearable."

For Epilepsy "Depakote caused an increase in seizure occurrence as well as severity of the seizures. Extreme changes in sleep habits, appetite, behavioral issues, as well as severe and erratic mood changes, vomiting, and regular kidney stones."

For Epilepsy "I took the medication for two years as a teenager. It stopped the seizures, but I lost all my energy and put on 40 pounds. Once I stopped Depakote, I nearly lost all the weight within 2 months."
