Abilify (aripiprazole) for Schizoaffective Disorder: "Not only did I suffer a stroke or TIA, my ability to function decreased significantly! Be aware of the medications you put into your mouth!"

Abilify (aripiprazole) for Schizoaffective Disorder: "I have had Schizoaffective disorder for 18 years. I was on haloperidol for over 10 years, been on abilify for 3 weeks and I can actually have feelings of happiness and contentment now. Teamed with an antidepressant called endep I feel better than I have for 18 years. More energy, less paranoia, able to concentrate for longer periods of time. I was getting side effects of hunger, but I just drink water instead of eating. Hunger is subsiding 3 1/2 weeks taking abilify. Experiencing some insomnia but getting more and more sleep every night. Otherwise feeling great ready to take on the world!"

Abilify (aripiprazole) for Major Depressive Disorder: "I had gone through most standard antidepressants without seeing much benefit, and Abilify was the drug that finally pulled me out of depression...at least initially. I had so much energy on 2mg but the depression came creeping back after about a month. Upped my dose to 4mg and I am now so restless that it’s affecting every facet of my life. I need to constantly be on the move because sitting still for more than a minute makes me feel like I have a mild electric current running through all of my muscles. It works so well for my depression though that I’m currently seeking treatment for the side effect rather than stop the Abilify completely. Not a fun place to be. I’m currently also on Lexapro and Adderall - the Abilify seems to negate any benefits of the Adderall almost completely..."

Abilify (aripiprazole) for Major Depressive Disorder: "I may have had an adverse reaction, but this drug made my life so bad for a few weeks. I was vomiting about every other hour or so starting the morning after I took it for the first time. Because of its stupidly long half-life, it took me another few days for the vomiting to finally stop."

Abilify (aripiprazole) for Major Depressive Disorder: "I was prescribed Abilify along with Cymbalta and it was horrible! I felt absolutely dead inside. I would rather be depressed that to feel nothing at all. Even when I'm depressed, I still manage to have a sense of humor, but not with Abilify. I just didn't care about anything."

For Borderline Personality Disorder: "I was put on aripiprazole after my impulsivity and mood swings got out of control. Been taking 2.5mg for almost 2 years and I feel much more in control of my emotions. As for the side effects, I had trouble sleeping the first week I took it but that went away. I also rapidly gained weight, I'm about 40 lbs. heavier than when I started. Losing the weight is slow, but possible."

Abilify (aripiprazole) for Major Depressive Disorder: "I’ve only been on it for a few days, I have anxiety/ADHD/depression/BPD. I’m on lexapro 20mg and it helped for a little bit but I was still having crazy ups and downs throughout the day. Happy and then 20 minutes later crying and upset. Although I haven’t been diagnosed with BP 2, I believe I have it. This medicine so far has done wonders. I’m actually energetic, talkative, I WANT to work out (I always had to drag myself to the gym), and I feel like I’m living better. Downside is it’s hard to fall asleep at night. Nothing major, I’m gonna try Melatonin tonight and see if it helps. Other side effects are nausea and a slight headache for me."

For Borderline Personality Disorder: "Been on just about every oral drug known to be prescribed for irratibility/ mood swings. Sometimes the drugs would work for a short period of time, but would always lose efficacy in a short period of time. Was put on abilify injection 13 months ago, has not worn out and my mood remains stable and irritability is at bay. It is very very hard to lose weight on this drug. I have a very restrictive diet with tons of excercise. Weight loss is very slow- but possible. This is the only side effect I have from the medication."

Abilify (aripiprazole) for Depression: "I took Abilfy 10mg for 3 weeks as an add on to my Celexa for MDD. I worked great for my depression. But I started shopping like crazy, which is out of character. During the 2nd week my right thumb went numb, my hands and arms started to get puffy. I thought maybe my salt intake was high, so I cut back with no improvement. By the 3rd week I was have severe carpal tunnel pain all the way up my right arm to my shoulder. I stopped taking it per my Dr. Only the 2nd day off I lost 10lbs in water weight. Carpal tunnel pain is gone but my thumb is still numb."

Abilify (aripiprazole) for Major Depressive Disorder: "I've suffered from major depressive disorder for 4 decades and tried hundreds of various combinations of ant-depressants, stimulants, and benzos after being treated by over 13 different psychiatrists. I was finally put on Pristique, Adderall (for ADD) and 5mg of Abilify and I finally got my life back. I know the Abilify is what tipped the balance because I was on the Pristique and Adderall for 3 months and got somewhat better but still felt no motivation and couldn't turn my thoughts into action until my Dr. added the Abilify. I am now getting up and out of bed, working out, and engaging in life. My Anhedonia is gone and I have hope for my life for the first time in 20 years."

Abilify (aripiprazole) for Schizophrenia: "I was on invega for years. Was always drowsy and gained 100 lbs over 6 years. Then I switched to abilify last October 2017. Abilify worked so great for me, lost weight, wasn’t drowsy, voices dissipated, etc. Then a month later the problems started, I fell into a deep hole of nonstop gambling. It started out as just a simple free code bonus for online casinos. It then turned into a full blown addiction. Drawing my bank account anytime I got paid down to 1-0 dollars trying to win. Always chasing my losses. It has gotten to the point where I started opening credit cards for more and more gambling. I have finally put my foot down and said “NO More!” I Saw my psychiatrist today and came forward with my issues. She told me to taper off abilify and switch to Vraylar. Here’s to hoping the gambling floats away with the drug leaving my body!"

Abilify (aripiprazole) for Depression: "I took Abilify for over a year. I had a bad experience with long term side effects. In the beginning I called it the miracle drug it worked well for my depression and life was grand. I began to get very depressed. The long term effects caused me to have schizophrenia I was hospitalized and taken off of it. I do not recommend this drug be taken for long long term ."

Abilify (aripiprazole) for Schizophrenia: "I've been on this medicine for 2 weeks. I'm suddenly not wanting to sleep my whole days away! It makes my ADHD go through the roof though. A lot of pacing. I stopped ADHD meds because of the psychosis, but I think I may start them up again since I know I was getting psychosis because of schizophrenia and not necessarily the amphetamines. As for side effects besides the above first week had a stomach ache and slight headaches. Totally worth it though."

For Borderline Personality Disorder: "Wow. I did not think that any medicine would ever help me with my BPD. I have only been on it a little more than a month, but it's worked wonders. If it's going to help you, it may even start kicking in after 2 weeks or so. I feel so close to normal now. I am on an antidepressant too, but of course, it does nothing for my BPD. I was looking for a medication for my BPD that could lessen the intense symptoms, and give me a better base for my emotions that my brain just could not give me with this illness. I knew that it could help with my parnaoia, but it has helped with that and so much more. I have not had a bad day on this medication. My emotions are in check, my ideation is gone, and it's really hard to have a bad day or be in a bad or negative mindset. I don't get stressed and flustered as easily. All my symptoms have been lessened or helped, it's been a wonder drug for me."

Abilify Maintena (aripiprazole) for Schizophrenia: "I was put on this injection, after my insurance wouldn't cover any other injection other than prolixin. I was covered for this injection through the Prelapse Study. Now if anyone has ever been on Prolixin, you should know that the effect are extremely bad so being on Abilify Maintena was a god send. It overall changed me completely to where I am functioning at a normal state, and haven't been in the hospital since I have been put on this injection. I do have some side effect from the injection, which most notably is the uncontrollable muscle movments, which I am uncertain if this is unreleated to the drug itself or if I have a form of tourette's. Also I did notice some uncontrollable urges in spending money/gambling, more than what I thought I would have normally done. Overall to be honest, the benefits out weight the cons in my concern."

Abilify (aripiprazole) for Major Depressive Disorder: "Took Abilify 2mg / day for two weeks, so far so good. Upped the dosage to 5mg / day and things started to go very wrong for me. This medicine started giving me terrible panic attacks (after about a month in), and threw me into the worst mental state I’ve ever been in in my life. I also could not sit still for very long, and was generally tired throughout the day. This medicine may work well for you, but this medicine temporarily ruined my life."

Abilify (aripiprazole) for Depression: "I started taking Abilify along with my Cymbalta. After a week I began to feel incredible. This drug has helped me to focus. I'm doing creative things that I haven’t thought of for years. I feel self-confident. No negative thoughts."

For Borderline Personality Disorder: "I've been on aripiprazole for about a month and a half now, and it really helped me. It makes socializing with people so much easier, and I don't get crazy ideas about how everyone hates me and I stopped being paranoid. The only downside is that it gave me restless leg syndrome."

For Depression: "I started this alongside an antidepressant (duloxetine), partly to prevent another manic/psychotic episode, and partly to treat my chronic depression. The depression had lasted around 3 years with constant suicidal ideation and a general mood so low that I couldn't get happiness from virtually anything. The duloxetine (started about 2 months before aripiprazole) helped the depression by itself very slightly, but after I started this the world started to fill with light a little again, and I got into a regular morning routine which started at 8am rather than midday. I am now enjoying socialising and exercise again, and looking forward to starting a new job in a couple of months. It has also helped relieve the obsessional-style thoughts I was having. It's hard to explain my own surprise with not being depressed anymore. At first on this drug, I wasn't sleeping well, but then my psychiatrist suggested taking it in the morning rather than at night, and since then it has been fine."
