Dextromethorphan for Cough "Delsym 12-hour cough medicine should be avoided at all costs. I wish I had never taken it. At first, it seemed to work, but then came the diarrhea, nausea, and dizziness. I had trouble sleeping while taking this product. After 2 doses, it triggered a histamine reaction as well. Before taking this product, my only ailment was a lingering cough from having a cold. After taking Delsym, I'm still dealing with the cough, but now I also have diarrhea, and all the symptoms that come with full-blown allergies. I can't wait until my body completely purges this horrible product from my system."

Dextromethorphan for Cough "I had a very bad cold to the point of settling in my chest. I took Delsym 12 hour to help. I couldn't believe it really worked to keep my cough at bay, but I started to have severe side effects from it. I had dizziness like I was going to blackout, heart palpitations, SOB (shortness of breath), diarrhea, and vomiting at the same time (sitting on the toilet and holding a bucket at the same time wanting to pass out from the dehydration). However, it makes me incredibly drowsy - way worse than Unisom. There was also a bit of dizziness. I did not have any gastrointestinal side effects. For Cough "I went to my doctor yesterday and was diagnosed with severe bronchitis and was told this was a good medication to take to alleviate my 'tight' breathing and coughing. My doctor suggested it for nighttime use. I took the recommended dose and it did great with the cough. However, I woke up a few hours later and felt my insides shaking like mad, having horrible stomach cramps like I was going to have diarrhea, it never really 'came about', but when I got up in the middle of the night, I hit a wall I was so dizzy. Never again. I get better results from other much cheaper products. So wanted to love this. I am a pharmacy technician, and I have seen many people buy it. I thought I was just sensitive to the medication because I am sensitive to medications sometimes."

Dextromethorphan for Cough "I do not recommend the use of Delsym 12 Hour Cough Relief. It was recommended to me by a pharmacist to help with a COVID cough. I have high blood pressure, and according to the pharmacist, this would raise BP. At 11:00 pm (bedtime), I took the prescribed dosage. At 1:30 am, I awoke with severe nausea, stomach cramps, dizziness. A few minutes later, diarrhea with numerous trips throughout the night. I sipped on water and tried soda crackers to help with nausea. My blood pressure was 200/100. For 12 hours, I was extremely ill. The next day, I went to urgent care. The diagnosis was side effects from Delsym 12 Hour. I believe this drug should come with warnings of these side effects and be removed as an over-the-counter drug."

Dextromethorphan for Cough "I took Delsym when I had the flu a few months ago, and it gave me the runs and made me feel funny. When I told my mom, who’s a nurse, she chalked it up to the flu leaving my body. I took Delsym again today to get rid of a very slight cough, and it gave me the same runs and serious dizziness. I was even dizzy in bed. When I had to rush to use the bathroom, the room seemed to spin. I’ve NEVER had this reaction to OTC cough medicine. Delsym is the first and hopefully last."

Dextromethorphan for Cough "I've been coughing for about a week after sore throat and cold without taking any medicine. Yesterday, I just had enough of it and got Delsym, took it, and I almost passed out in classes because I felt so dizzy, like I could not function. It might have suppressed the cough a little bit? I'm not sure, since I was still coughing, but according to my friends, I coughed less. But it felt really bad, and I would not take it again."

Dextromethorphan for Cough "I took this medicine around midnight last night after being tired of trying to hold back a cough, and it worked pretty quickly. I also had hot water with lemon and honey, so that probably helped too. However, around 5:00 am, I woke up with severe cramping and diarrhea. I spent two hours running back and forth to the bathroom. For Cough "Using Delsym orange liquid. Suppresses cough. Tastes way better than DayQuil and Robitussin syrups. Raging diarrhea, lack of appetite, vertigo, chills. Really not worth it just for a cold, but I have reached the point in my cold that if I cough or sneeze too hard, I pee. Now I get to choose between pee or poo."

Dextromethorphan for Cough "Took Delsym 12 hours after spending a whole day coughing. I am at the end of what appears to be a chest infection. Spent Friday all day coughing, so I purchased Delsym and took it Friday night. Also ate chicken that night. I stopped coughing Friday evening, I guess from the Delsym. Woke at 2:20 am, so nauseous that I assumed I had food poisoning. Stood over the toilet to throw up and instead, it was all just gas. Drank a carbonated water and fell back asleep. Didn't equate this with the cough medicine, still thought it was a mild case of food poisoning. Took it again Saturday morning and was miserable all day! TERRIBLE SATURDAY. I was so dizzy, nauseous, and super gassy again. That's when I realized it was the Delsym. It was a horrible Saturday, and it did take a full 12+ hours to go away. DON'T TAKE THIS STUFF!"
