Dextromethorphan for Cough "I had purchased Delsym nighttime strength for a cold. The first night it worked great, the second night I got the worst pain in my upper abs, then came nausea, followed by actually throwing up and a small bout of diarrhea. I am not sure if it was the lack of food contents in my stomach or what, but it was a horrible experience."

Dextromethorphan for Cough "It definitely helps my cough. But it makes me so dizzy, I feel like my surroundings are going by at 100 mph when I walk. I would NOT drive after taking it. I also feel a little 'out of it,' but that could just be having a sinus infection. I didn't have a problem with diarrhea like some people have mentioned."

Dextromethorphan for Cough "Horrendous. Delsym did not stop my cough. I woke up at 4 AM (I had taken it the afternoon before at 4:30 pm) with serious diarrhea and vomiting. The cramps that followed are unlike anything I’ve ever felt before, absolutely horrific. This medicine needs to be taken off the market. It’s been over three hours, and the cramping has worsened - I didn’t think it was possible - and I’m basically writhing on my floor. DO NOT RISK THIS!!!"

For Cough "Diarrhea. Remember that word, because if you take this stuff, you will be suddenly awakened during the middle of the night and forced to wreak havoc on your toilet bowl. I just blew up my toilet 45 min ago and am getting ready to pay it another visit as I write this. If you are reading this review, take my advice: use something else. My cough was bad, but I would have gladly kept it if I knew my butt was going to turn into Niagara Falls."

Dextromethorphan for Cough "This cough syrup should be advertised as a colon cleanse. Fast acting! Holy moly. Within 10 minutes, the diarrhea hit me like a freight train. I didn't know I had all that in me. The diarrhea was a great distraction from my sore throat. I didn't think the diarrhea was from the Delsym at first. I put two and two together when every 12 hours I took a dose, it was followed by the violent emptying of my being. I did feel immediately better after the trips to the bathroom."

Dextromethorphan for Cough "Learned the hard way that this stuff causes explosive diarrhea. I wouldn't take this if you have any plans for the rest of the day. Honestly, not sure if it really even helped with my cough or if I was just getting better with time. Wish I looked into it more earlier on instead of waiting. For Cough "I'm currently sitting on the toilet because I literally cannot finish washing my hands before I have to come back. Took it last night and was up from 2-4, pooping my brains out, just shook it off as something I ate. Took it again tonight, and the repeated diarrhea has confirmed it was the Robitussin."

Dextromethorphan for Cough "Boy, do I wish I had read the reviews on this medicine BEFORE I took it! I have been sick for a week with a nasty virus and finally broke down late last night and took a dose of Delsym. I admit it stopped my cough in its tracks, but I woke up six hours later with such bad diarrhea, it was like my keister had sprouted a fountain. My husband took it and within a short time developed terrible chills. I think, from this point forward, I will just deal with the cough."

Dextromethorphan for Cough "I honestly wasn't sure if it was the medication that did this to me until I just almost took it again and decided to read reviews. A couple of hours after I took it, I woke up three different times due to extreme stomach pain. The third time I decided to try to go to the bathroom. My stomach hurt so bad that I felt like the muscles in my stomach were just stuck tight. I felt like I couldn't even go to the bathroom because it hurt so bad. After having extreme pain and diarrhea, I started getting chills, lightheaded, and swearing profusely. I seriously thought I was going to die and started dialing 911 before laying on my bathroom floor for a couple of minutes, and it stopped. I wasn't even sure if it was the medication before reading all these."

Dextromethorphan for Cough "Went to urgent care, and the doctor recommended Delsym. He warned me it can cause diarrhea, so to take Imodium with it to counteract it. It definitely helped suppress the cough and tasted much better than NyQuil. (That contains Benadryl and Tylenol.)"

Dextromethorphan for Cough "This did stop my cough all night after suffering from a terrible cough for 5 days, but I have severe watery diarrhea a short time after taking it. My husband had the same cough, and it stopped his cough, too, luckily, he did not get diarrhea. The grape flavor tasted pretty good. Imodium stopped my diarrhea with 2 doses. I will save the rest of the bottle for him, but not for me."

For Cough "I took Delsym for a cough that was bothering me. It didn't stop the cough, but within a half hour, I had terrible diarrhea. At first, I didn't make the connection, but the next morning, I tried it again and got the same results. It's a waste of money, and there are no redeeming qualities to it."

Dextromethorphan for Cough "I found this page, and everything clicked just two days too late. While my cough went away, the first night I woke up with severe cramping and the worst diarrhea of my life and was unable to hold food down for 12 hours. Then I took the medicine the next night and woke up to constant severe cramping to the point of skipping all my meals and popping Pepto until the 12-hour mark when I was able to hold down a bagel. Thank God I searched this tonight because I was about to take it again! It is not expired, but rather a painful fast track to a cleanse. Never touching it again."

Dextromethorphan "I’m getting over the last symptoms of COVID, and I had a persistent cough, so my parents recommended I take Delsym. Well, it did its job, I didn’t have a cough, but I had way more side effects than I would’ve liked. I felt extremely off balance and like I was floating. I had bad diarrhea, a rapid heart rate, and even after working 5 hours, I had anxiety and couldn’t sleep that night, and that was hours after taking it! Crazy experience, felt like I was on actual drugs. Probably won’t be taking it again."

For Cough "They should make a combination product with Imodium. I greatly reduced the cough but gave me the worst explosive diarrhea for hours. I just gave in and took Imodium and am finally feeling remotely normal. Just in time for the cough to return. Sheesh."

For Cough "Took my first dose last night before bed since I have been having a nagging cough from allergies. Helped suppress the cough a little (not completely), but I was up on and off all night with anxiety, nausea, night sweats, and of course, coughing. It is now 2 pm the following day, and I have been extremely dizzy all day and have been having very gassy diarrhea and stomach cramps. I have been stuck at home all day feeling bad. Will never use this medication again. I prefer coughing over vertigo and diarrhea."

Dextromethorphan for Cough "Delsym 12-hour cough medicine should be avoided at all costs. I wish I had never taken it. At first, it seemed to work, but then came the diarrhea, nausea, and dizziness. I had trouble sleeping while taking this product. After 2 doses, it triggered a histamine reaction as well. Before taking this product, my only ailment was a lingering cough from having a cold. After taking Delsym, I'm still dealing with the cough, but now I also have diarrhea, and all the symptoms that come with full-blown allergies. I can't wait until my body completely purges this horrible product from my system."

For Cough "This worked great for my husband until he gave me his cold. I used this medicine and was somewhat relieved but had extremely uncomfortable gas and diarrhea. I thought I had a worse strain of virus and took the medicine again the next day. Within 45 minutes, my stomach problems that had quit the night before returned with a vengeance. Dextromethorphan was the only ingredient I haven't used before without this reaction. Unless it's a new red dye allergy, I'm never taking anything with this ingredient again."

Dextromethorphan for Cough "I took this medicine for a cough so I could sleep well before a final exam. I'm now up at 3 a.m. with diarrhea, intense stomach cramps, and I'm so dizzy I can't walk. It's also impossible to sleep because of how panicked it's making me feel. I made myself worse by taking this. Beware."
