Cyclobenzaprine "I've been prescribed Flexeril a few times when I've severely pulled a muscle. I use it as a muscle relaxant only; to lower the pain of a spasm and be able to stretch the muscle a bit to loosen it. When I was in PT, I took it after when my muscles were tight and aching. It worked great for those days I overdid it. It's definitely not a pill to take during the day unless you've become accustomed to it. I can attest to its efficacy for short-term use up to 2 weeks, but am doubtful about how well it would work long-term."

"I don't recommend this medication to anyone. It did help with the muscle spasm, but the side effects of this pill are ridiculous! I had very bad anxiety, my heart pounding like I was going to have a heart attack with every move I made, shaky hands, numb legs, and waking up in the middle of the night with my left arm hurting and pressure on the left side of my chest. You wake up like you have a hangover: groggy, panicky, and cranky. Never again. I only took it for 4 days."

Cyclobenzaprine "I was prescribed Flexeril 10mg to take as needed for muscle spasms in my neck. They have been a saving grace when I can't get my spasms to calm down, however, the dry mouth that they cause the next day is UNREAL. I suffer through the dry mouth because I need the pain relief, but the next day I look like a damn dog with peanut butter stuck in its mouth. If you are prescribed this, go out and get some sugar-free candy or gum because water doesn't do anything to help."

Cyclobenzaprine "I tore my labrum in my left hip, the doctor gave me Robaxin at first, but it didn't seem to work. I take 2 of these and 1 Vicodin, and I feel much better. After surgery, I will hopefully be able to get rid of these and get back to normal."

Cyclobenzaprine "So I recently slept wrong and thought I had a stiff neck that it would go away. I was wrong. Three days later, it got worse and worse that I couldn't move my head down or to the right or upward. I was prescribed 10 mg twice a day, but I just took it once a day with naproxen, an anti-inflammatory. Plus, I rubbed Vicks on the area, which my Puerto Rican mother swears works wonders, lol. Yes, it makes you super sleepy, but it was a great sleep, no complaints. And in 24 hours and 48 hours later, I can do my PT exercises without pain, and I feel great about 70% improvement. I still have to continue to stretch and massage the area. This is helping. Everyone responds differently, though."

"I was prescribed this medication 9 months ago for muscle spasms. I noticed it lowered my blood pressure. Recently, I was given antibiotics for an abscessed tooth, and I had a strong reaction to them, they made me feel very anxious. I took my cyclobenzaprine with them 2x a day as prescribed (usually I only take 1 at night). After 10 days, when I was done with the antibiotic round, I stopped taking them and have been in heavy withdrawal ever since. It's a nightmare, and at first I didn't even understand why I felt so badly. I went to the ER with a blood pressure of 165/110. Please be aware this is an addictive drug, and everyone's body will respond differently. This is my 3rd day off, and I'm still experiencing severe insomnia, high blood pressure, and extreme discomfort. Wish I had known. Thanks. Good luck."

"I have been taking cyclobenzaprine for over 30 years (when I need it - not often). I have great results. I can't figure out why doctors prescribe pain medication three times a day. Many people can't function on that much dose: tramadol, hydrocodone. Many pain medications can work well once or twice a day. I wish doctors would prescribe pain medications once or twice a day, then increase it if necessary. I never take pain medicine more than once a day and only in severe pain for short times. If you feel drugged up on your pain medications, try cutting it down and see if it still works (but always contact your doctor first before changing anything with your pain medications or any medications your doctor prescribes). I hope everybody likes my comment."

Cyclobenzaprine "Took two 10 mg tabs twice a day and found it to be effective for relieving muscle spasms in my back. When I first started taking it, I had wild, vivid dreams and would often wake up at night confused as to where I was. Sleeping with better illumination helped a little with this. Things have settled down recently."

"I started taking this for back pain, and yes, it did relieve it, but the side effects were tough on me. I would wake up with dizziness, dry mouth, and sometimes I couldn't get out of bed at all! I would take it at night and literally sleep the whole next day!"

Cyclobenzaprine "Took two ten mg tablets, then tried to sleep. Couldn't sleep because of legs and upper back spasming the same or worse, and then fell asleep three times for thirty minutes to an hour each time, only to wake up because of spasming and then discovering I had pooed myself a little each time. It gave me horrible diarrhea. I would rather be knocked out with a few firm punches to the face than to try this stuff again. I'm fairly certain it not only didn't help, but it made everything worse."

"This stuff is brutal. Helps me sleep with all of my neck and shoulder stiffness and pain, but I'm exhausted, lethargic, dizzy, off balance, panicked, and confused for 2 days after. I can't take this anymore. I feel like I'm in purgatory when I take this stuff."

Cyclobenzaprine "I read through some of the reviews here and wow, what doctors are you seeing that prescribe 10 mg, 3 times a day?! Of course, you have side effects lol. That's jumping off the deep end. You always start low and ramp up. Make sure you Google medications before just taking them. Doctors can be wrong and are wrong lots of times. My doctor told me 5 mg to 10 mg a day only at night. I'm on my first day after taking 10 mg last night and feel pretty groggy, but I only slept 7 hours (more than I usually get). I took a 5 mg pill at about 10:20 pm last night and was laying down for an hour before I took another 5 mg pill at 11:20 pm. It was about 12:20 am when I last looked at the time. I did wake up with a headache that went away after an hour though."

Cyclobenzaprine "The side effect that made me stop it was severe reflux. I would wake up from a dead sleep, basically vomiting in my mouth and nearly choking on it. This happened nightly for weeks, and I just couldn't tolerate it anymore. It does help a great deal with relaxing the muscles (and for pain). I also get insomnia from this while most people get drowsy."

Cyclobenzaprine "I can't really say whether Flexeril helped with muscle pain or not because within 45 minutes of taking it, it had knocked me out for several hours. After I woke up, I felt like I'd been drinking all day. Even the next day, I'm still very groggy 16 hours after taking a single dose. Wouldn't recommend it unless pain is unbearable."

Cyclobenzaprine "After taking generic Flexeril (cyclobenzaprine) for several weeks for muscle spasms in my shoulder, I started to experience full-blown panic attacks after taking this medication. I had never experienced a panic attack before in my life, so I didn’t really know what was happening the first few times. I don’t have the words to describe how truly terrible and debilitating the experience was. Finally, I realized that the panic attacks occurred shortly after taking this medication. So far, stopping the medication has stopped the panic attacks (thank God!). It took a few days to start feeling better after stopping the medication. Supposedly, this medication can have rare central nervous system side effects for some people. Sharing my experience with the hope that it might help someone else. Please be careful."

"Went to Dr. last night for back pain lasting 2 weeks after a fall. Prescribed this medicine 3 times a day at 10 mg for 3 weeks, along with Naproxen and physical therapy to start next week. Cyclobenzaprine surely helps with the spasms, but I can't stand up without almost passing out from the dizziness."

Cyclobenzaprine "Ok, so I have fibromyalgia, DJD, Raynaud's syndrome, bulging and herniated disks, possible lupus (awaiting further testing). This treats mild muscle spasms and muscle pain without making you sleepy or groggy. When in severe muscular pain, I have to use Soma 350 mg instead."

"I went to the doctor this week for what I thought was a pinched nerve that caused shoulder pain. She determined that it was muscle strain (trapezius) and prescribed 10 mg to be taken twice daily as needed. I took one in the afternoon on Thursday and another Wednesday morning. I ended up sleeping the entire day (except for getting up to make lunch for the kids). Later in the evening, I started to feel very weak in my limbs (sort of like when you're getting over a really bad flu where you've been laid up in bed for days). I also started to feel impaired - dizzy, lightheaded, just out of it. The next day I didn't have the limpness, but I still had the lightheadedness, and my calves were achy - maybe from too much sleep."

Cyclobenzaprine "I first tried this for severe lower back spasms. The doc warned me I would feel 'hung over' the first few days, which was true. Start with a low dose and ramp up if needed. The first a.m. I shrugged my shoulders and thought, 'Wow-this is what it's like to be normal!' (I had wrecked my neck in a parachute accident several years before). BONUS: I had been waking up at 1-3 a.m. every morning and was not able to go back to sleep. This med solved that problem. At the same time, I was able to get up in the middle of the night, take care of my toddler, then go back to sleep without a problem. CON: it causes dry mouth, which leads to dental problems. Sad. I take it only a few times a year now. (I took it every night for several years)."

Cyclobenzaprine "I'm on it for fibromyalgia, and it helps me more than the antidepressants and Mirapex did, but doesn't totally erase my pain. A lot of people complain that it knocks them out, but I'm on 10 mg a dose, and it doesn't do that to me."

Cyclobenzaprine "Having had pain meds in the hospital were awful following hip replacement. I was given hydrocodone, and they think it was the cause of my BP dropping to 60/40. To avoid those opiates, they gave me Flexeril, and it relieved the most excruciating spasms of my entire operative leg. Not quite sure, but that it also is a source of giving me hypotension. If you are going to be comfortable laying down. My recommendation is this."

"The 5 mg cyclobenzaprine tablets that I took from CVS Pharmacy helped me sleep through the back pain, which made me feel better in the day. I only took one half of the pill at a time, however, I picked up my refill from another pharmacy, and I cannot even tell that I have taken it, although I took a whole pill. The pills themselves were from different drug manufacturers."

"I must be one of the rare ones. This medication was to be a resolution to constant pain from a pulled muscle in my face and neck after oral surgery. I was instructed to take a 1-5 MG tablet twice daily for 1 month. I take it 2 hours before bed, and by bedtime, I'm so wired and jittery, I have to stay up to avoid keeping my spouse up. I also have restless leg syndrome, spells were rare until this. After taking 1 tablet, I will spend the next 4 to 6 hours pacing, as it seems to cause prolonged restless leg syndrome spells. The feeling seems to affect my arms as well, so I have this need to shake my hands/arms violently. Now, completely exhausted, I have to fight through the pain in my face still to sleep. I no longer take it."

Cyclobenzaprine "Prescribed it countless times over the years and not once has it ever helped or had any impact. NOT ONCE. It's to the point that I don't even get it filled when I'm prescribed it anymore. Absolute waste of money. Becoming increasingly convinced that it's just prescribed to pad insurance billing. Tylenol and ibuprofen have more of an impact than this garbage."
