For Urinary Tract Infection "At first, I was terrified to use this medication for my UTI based off of reviews. Currently on pill #4 for my UTI and am feeling almost 100% better. No bad side effects from the drug other than a few migraines."

For Prostatitis "I was diagnosed with a UTI at the end of January. Prescribed a 10-day course of Cipro. Symptoms got better, but one day off, symptoms came back. Went back to the doctor and was diagnosed with acute bacterial prostatitis, and put back on Cipro for six weeks. The treatment takes time, and prostatitis is painful, so waiting for the treatment to work is frustrating, but it does work. At week three, most of my symptoms were gone. At week four, all symptoms were gone. Finished the six-week treatment to make sure everything in my system was cleared up. Cipro is basically poison, but it does what it’s intended to do."

For Urinary Tract Infection "I was poisoned by this medication. It got rid of my infection but at the risk of my health. After four days of taking it, my knees started hurting, and it went to my elbows. After I stopped taking it (a year ago), I was in terrible chronic pain, and I’m still fighting off the symptoms of fluoroquinolone toxicity syndrome to this day. I am an artist, and I couldn't draw for months, and I couldn’t make money. The worst part of it is I still can’t get any answers. I’d rather have my UTI back than ever take this again."

For Diverticulitis "Cipro was horrible. I have never had a reaction to an antibiotic before. Mentally disturbed head. It was very strange and made me panicky. Broke out in a rash on forearms and itchy, tight chest. Read how awful this drug is. Thank goodness my reaction happened after a few doses and not a week or two. Fluoroquinolones are poison for me. I never would have thought an antibiotic could be so harmful."

For Urinary Tract Infection "Side effects were unbearable for my girlfriend, so she stopped after only 1.5 days. She suffered from headaches, vomiting, achy all over, stomach pains, and a bad taste in her mouth. It seemed to help with the infection, but at the end of the dosage cycle, she was feeling much better. In 45 minutes after taking a pill, it made her feel so sick again."

For Urinary Tract Infection "I was prescribed a 10-day course of Cipro, 2 pills a day for suspected UTI/prostatitis. Within hours of the first dose, the constant urge to urinate went away completely. Unfortunately, the symptoms came back within 12 hours of my last dose, so the Cipro was unable to clear the infection. That said, I experienced zero side effects while taking it. 40 y.o. Male."

For Kidney Infections "Second time I am taking this. I am on day 4 of a 5-day prescription. The only side effect I seem to have is an occasional kidney spasm on the right, but who is to say that the medication is causing it? The only thing I would say is that you should always eat something prior to taking your dosage. I forgot once and had a stomach ache for about 30 minutes. I think many people imagine some side effects because they read forums like this and then imagine every little itch is a side effect, and they become paranoid. I believe this is a good fast-acting medication, and I have had no yeast infections from this either, when almost every other antibiotic I have taken did result in yeast infections. I guess I am lucky."

For Urinary Tract Infection "I will never take Cipro again. After the 3rd pill, I developed tingling in my hands, legs, and feet. I stopped taking it, but the symptoms still persist. I cannot sleep at night, and the tingling is constant. I've read this is called being 'floxied' and is more common than you might think. I am seeing a naturopathic doctor next week to try to reverse these awful side effects. Don't take Cipro!"

For Urinary Tract Infection "DO NOT TAKE CIPRO! I'd give this garbage a negative 10 if I could! Read all the possible side effects, then ask yourself if you're willing to risk contracting many of them, no matter whether a doctor tells you the odds of those happening are slim, rare, etc. In my case, I was given this junk 4 different times within a year, around 60 pills total. I developed peripheral neuropathy shortly after that, which means that all of my extremities are becoming more and more numb, after the paresthesia (intense tingling and pain) stopped because I don't feel it anymore. I can still feel pressure in my head, hands, and feet, but when they are lightly touched or stroked? Nothing. I've seen 3 neurologists, two said it was simply coincidence. I fired them. The guy I still see said it was probably the Cipro that damaged me, but unfortunately, he can't directly correlate them, so he would only be a 'maybe' if I sue everyone responsible. But I'm still checking into it. Please say no to Cipro."

For Bacterial Infection "2017 FDA Black Box warning issued for Cipro and other fluoroquinolones for severe permanent tendon damage that can take months to show up! Cipro should ONLY be prescribed as a last resort drug, but a lot of doctors are unaware! Beware! Read the professional prescribing info on this website for the Black Box warnings."

For Kidney Infections "I'm no stranger to antibiotics. I've taken many different kinds. I've had side effects to them all, but Cipro was absolutely the worst. I was prescribed 500 mg twice daily for a kidney infection (Klebsiella). I could not get past 3 days. My tendons and joints hurt so badly. I can barely walk as of this morning. I'm terrified it may be permanent. It worked against the infection but destroyed my joints. Please, get a urine culture and see what antibiotics your bacteria will respond to and choose anything but Cipro or any other fluoroquinolones. These side effects can be permanent, or at least last a long time, maybe even a year!"

For Urinary Tract Infection "I found out I had a UTI a week after I had my annual physical examination. I did not get my prescription until a week later, so I would assume I had the UTI for two weeks to a month. Doc prescribed me to take two 500 mg daily. The side effects suck. Night one, I did not sleep. I took a 3-hour nap and was up for 16 hours. Day two's morning dose had me nauseous. I just took my night dose, so hopefully the side effects won't be bad. My UTI symptoms went away within my first dosage (slight pressure, cloudy urine, sensitivity)."

For Urinary Tract Infection "Cipro carries a black box warning related to potential neurological adverse effects. I was unaware of this the last time I took Cipro for a simple UTI. Within 3 hours of the first dose, I began experiencing tingling on my left side (I thought I was having a stroke!). I stopped the Cipro immediately. But the damage was done - I experienced occasional nerve tingling for 6 months. Luckily for me, the nerve damage was not permanent. It goes without saying I'll never take another drug in the fluoroquinolone family again."

For Urinary Tract Infection "Do not take this drug unless you're near death, exposed to anthrax, or contracted the plague; seriously, that's what it's meant for. I took ONE pill of this and developed horrible popping in all joints, knee/leg/shoulder pain. The worst was the ER visit that followed 48 hours later, because I had rapid swelling in the eyes and light sensitivity with blurred vision. The scariest day of my life happened because of ONE pill of this poison. This awful medicine has a black box warning from the FDA and should not be given for basic infections."

For Bladder Infection "It's been three days since I've been on this medicine. First-time user also. I never had a bladder infection, but it got a lot better than it was the first day with the burning and pain. I am still experiencing a bit of the burning. I am hoping it works and takes it fully away about the time it's my last dose. At first, this medicine made me nauseous and tired, but I drank more water, and it seemed to help take that away."

For Urinary Tract Infection "Am currently taking Cipro to deal with a UTI. Had one about a month ago, took Cipro, it seemed to go away, but now it's back with a vengeance. But I'm taking it with great reluctance. It used to be my ENT's go-to drug for sinus infections, which I would typically get twice a year (allergy induced). Then, about 4 years after first taking the drug, I woke up one morning and my right foot totally collapsed due to tendon rupture. Zero arch. At the time (1990), there weren't any tendon warnings with the drug and no one could explain how tendons could rupture overnight. Now my podiatrist attributes the event to the Cipro. I have to wear a Richie brace on that foot/ankle."

For Urinary Tract Infection "I have been getting urinary tract infections since I was a small child, and the only antibiotic that has worked for me 100% of the time is Cipro. I have never had any side effects, but I am not sensitive to any medicines that I am aware of. I also use AZO Maximum Strength for the pain as an alternative to Pyridium, although if I have a prescription, Pyridium is actually cheaper (with insurance) than purchasing AZO."

For Urinary Tract Infection "I took Cipro for five days and had to stop. I can say that it took the symptoms of the urinary tract infection away and made me feel better that way. On the other hand, it really aggravated some inflammatory conditions that I have had under control for a long period of time."

For Urinary Tract Infection "I was scared to take Cipro. I really freak out when I have to take medication. But I did with the support of friends, and it works great for urinary tract infections with the first dose. I do have heartburn and gas, but I'm still taking it, and I will add a Zantac and Gas-X tomorrow."

For Urinary Tract Infection "This was prescribed for my son who has cerebral palsy and is confined to a wheelchair. He became swollen in his legs, ankles, and feet. Took for 48 hours and discontinued as the swelling progressed. Rushed to MD, had to take a different medicine (Macrobid). Thankfully, the swelling subsided in a few days. I have read many horror stories about the side effects of this medicine - some permanent! I do not recommend. Please keep in mind that a urine sample should always be cultured, not just tested with a dipstick, as the treatment really depends on the type of bacteria that's causing the UTI."

For Urinary Tract Infection "I was given the pill 2 times per day at 500 mg. I am in my early 30s and feeling still overall blah on the 4th day of the meds. Feeling numb on my feet and nausea after taking the pill. I am on no other medications. Normally I rarely remember my dreams, but the last two nights I have had horrible nightmares."

For Diverticulitis "Horrible drug. I was given Cipro and flagyl when my CRP rose to 140. Completed the course even after I got rashes. Now I have been suffering a lot after that, both physically and mentally. I think that doctor prescribed me to suffer when those were not needed for a young man like me."

For Urinary Tract Infection "I was prescribed this medication for twice a day for 10 days, and on day 5, I had a tremor in my right hand, and right after, my right arm and leg went numb. It was horrifying to experience, especially because I am currently under getting a diagnosis if there is something wrong with my heart. So I didn't know if it was the pills or my heart until I started doing more research on the pill, and tremors were a serious side effect. Yes, I feel my UTI has gone away, but I would NOT take it again, and I am still currently taking them, but I'm going to talk with my doctor because I no longer want to use these drugs. Besides the tremor and numbness, I also became very tired, had headaches, muscle pains, and nausea. Truly terrible to feel this way. I do not recommend."
