"I have ADHD (with coexisting anxiety and depression), and I have tried many different medications. Wellbutrin is the only one that works for me. I'm on 300 mg XL and have been for a few years now, it took a while for me to actually notice a difference, but it definitely helps me. I had some side effects in the beginning, but they all stopped a few weeks in. I have always had trouble sleeping, since I've been on Wellbutrin, that is not even a problem anymore. I literally cannot say anything bad about it. I feel better on it than I ever have off it."

"For reference, I have been depressed since I was 11 years old. However, it was only after COVID that my anxiety and depression got 10 times worse. I'd have week-long anxiety episodes that would make me vomit relentlessly and never eat. At the start of 2023, I got into a bad relationship and my depression worsened more than I'd ever seen before. I went to the hospital, then increased my Prozac (that I took since 14), but suddenly the Prozac did not help anymore and I believe I had an adverse effect. They took me off it and started me on 100mg Wellbutrin. Relief wasn’t instant, but it really helped in a few weeks. Now, over a year later since my 3-month 2023 episode, I relapsed from late May to late June. They upped my dosage to 150, and I was able to somewhat recover for a week. Now, sadly, my cousin passed away in a car crash, and it’s been setting back that initial relief tenfold. I took six steps forward, and probably eight back. Hoping for another increase because I'm in such deep despair and pain."

"This medication has changed my life, I cry just telling my story about it. I have struggled with major depression ever since I was a child, I’m in my early twenties and I can say Wellbutrin makes it so hard for me to cry or get depressed. I feel it has opened my eyes more and helped me gain more boundaries. I even get brain fog thinking about the events that have made me depressed. The only cons I have are the headaches and the rage/anxiety I get. Wellbutrin alone does not really help with my anxiety, so if you’re like me, you could definitely pair it with an SSRI."

"Have been on Wellbutrin generic 150 mg for a little over a year. I didn’t notice when it stopped working, and looking back, I did really well on it the first few months, and then slowly started slipping back into depression. The doctor put me on 300 mg XL generic starting yesterday, and fingers crossed that I get back to where I was before. Sad to say that the previous dose pooped out. I guess that’s how a lot of these meds go. Got up early this morning, very unusual for me, but it happened when I first started Wellbutrin. I’ve gotten off the rails with my depression and having to pick up the pieces. I would say, keep a close eye on your depression and journal your emotions a couple of times a day and adjust the dosage."

"My only sister was tragically killed in 2009, which put me in a deep, dark, depressed state. Unhappy, always crying, didn’t want to get out of bed. Distant from everyone, I basically shut the world out. This went on for 7 years or so. I finally told my doctor I was at the end of my rope, and she gave me a prescription for 150 mg of Wellbutrin XL. It sat there for months because I didn’t want to depend on medicine to make me feel human again. Then I started to take it, and it made me feel slightly better, and then the thoughts came back in. I went back to my doctor and told her, so she upped my dosage to 300 mg, and I noticed a huge change. At first, I started to notice I was happier and smiling more. I was getting up, doing stuff, and I started letting the world back in. I’ve probably been on it for 3 years now, and honestly, I’m not sure I can function without it because I’m afraid of sinking back down to my lows again."

"I was 26 years old and taking Wellbutrin for about 5 months. Within those 5 months, I became increasingly unmotivated, less energetic, and my depression worsened. I had terrible mood swings and was generally unpleasant to be around. My thoughts were not my own anymore, as I had horrific thoughts that were scary and confusing to me. Then came the night that I swallowed an entire prescription bottle of it. My thoughts were that either it would finally work and make me happy or it would just kill me so I wouldn't suffer anymore. I am obviously still here, and I am so grateful for that! I stopped it and was put on Paxil. So much better for me! I'm a happy girl again!"

"I have more energy and want to clean things up that I haven't cleaned in a while because all I wanted was to just sit around and didn't care. I felt better after the second day. I'm having a problem with talking bad about some people, but I think I have been holding my feelings back for a long time. I just now am seeing I don't care what they think, which is good for me because I've always been trying to be happy around these people who would make fun of me and talk bad about me behind my back. Since it's family, I have to be around them every now and then, but I'm able now not to let it matter and to be able to let my feelings out. I have to lose weight, and it's been a week, and I'm able to control how to think about food before just eating it up and not caring."

"I fortunately saw all the reviews and thought, wow, this medication looks like a godsend. I was on this medication for about 3 years. By the last year and a half, I started having a skin rash like severely and felt like where my nerves were all being hurt and in pain. Then I was having big holes in my skin, and I had gained probably 70 to 80 lb. I started at 130 lb and went to 205 lb by the end of it. I have gotten off this, I've been off it for a week. I have already lost 10 lb, and I feel so much better. I feel like my clarity is there. I can actually feel things, like my libido's back - I have a sex drive. I didn't realize how much this medication had taken so much from me. Not everyone has the same experience on this, I actually have less cravings to smoke off of it than I did on it. I smoked a lot on this medication, now I'm barely smoking. So don't just go by everyone's 10 out of 10 review, please be sure to see the red flags and the signs that come up because I didn't. I kept thinking it was something else, it was something else. Finally, I stopped it, and yeah."

"In January 2015, I was on Remeron 15 mg. By April 2015, I was at 45 mg Remeron. I felt normal and happy, but I gained 26 lbs. In September 2015, I was switched to Effexor 150 mg because of issues caused by the weight. By October, I was on 300 mg Effexor. Today is day two of 150 mg Wellbutrin. I am suffering headaches from going from Effexor to Wellbutrin. Tomorrow I increase to 300 mg Wellbutrin. I can say that day two on Wellbutrin, and I am not feeling as numb (unemotional) as I was two days ago. That's a positive. This is definitely a rollercoaster ride in trying to find the right meds to help with my major depressive disorder, anxiety/panic attacks, and insomnia. My only regret is that I didn't get help sooner. Instead, I suffered alone for years."

"I have been struggling with depression and anxiety for a long time. Every little task felt so overwhelming, and when I had my baby, it was just too much. Dr. prescribed Cipralex, then Zoloft, and it didn't help much. Then I asked for Wellbutrin. So my thoughts so far when the Zoloft finally left my body and I got to 300 mg of Wellbutrin: I had so much energy. I accomplished a lot, my libido skyrocketed. I felt great. A few weeks later, I think it caused me to be manic. I felt high, even my pupils in the mirror were tiny. I felt super confident and sexual, and I did whatever I wanted and did not care who I hurt. Then I came down and went back into a horrible depression and attempted ending it all over the way I acted when I was feeling so great. Now that the sadness has leveled out, I'm just irritable and snappy over nothing, or laughing my ass off at things that aren't that funny. I either get a bunch done or can't be motivated to move."

"I have been on this med for about 7 months (150 mg). Initially made me feel great with little side effects, and it still does. I smoked weed for about 4 of those 7 months until I quit cold turkey 2 months ago. I think the weed negated the rise in anxiety that Wellbutrin usually gives. Wellbutrin is known to increase anxiety, so be wary, but it can wear off in a couple of weeks to months. For me, I take it with clonazepam as needed, but I take it daily almost because of the constant anxiety. For me, I am not addicted because I am on such a low dose (1 mg), but I would like to try Buspar, which I probably will. This pill gave me my motivation back that I lost for about 6 years. It allows me to get out of bed and not feel pity or sorry for myself. I usually take it in the mornings. BUT if you have GAD, be wary as it can make your anxiety worse. But the way it makes you feel motivated can outweigh the crazy anxiety it can give."

"I was on 150 mg Wellbutrin for depression. The first few months had no side effects besides very mild nausea (which is a miracle for me). Then they increased my dose to 300 mg once a day, and the side effects really started taking their toll on me. I had night terrors that would leave me awake for multiple hours each night when I would finally come out of it. The nausea was making me vomit from the smell of any food. I was really upset because it was really helping as far as my depression goes, but the night terrors were too much for me to handle. Only sleeping 1-3 hours at night isn't worth it to me."

"I’ve been taking this for a month now. Started with 150 mg, all it did was make me super tired. Didn’t do anything for me besides give me tremors and muscle twitches. I feel like I’m gonna burst into tears 24/7, but I can’t even cry. Did nothing for my energy or ADHD either. I’ve been upped to 300 mg now, and it’s only gotten worse. Hazy, tired, can’t cry, twitching. I don’t know if it’s worth waiting out to see if it gets better because my body isn’t reacting how it’s supposed to. This was supposed to give me energy, but it just makes me feel so run down."

"Recently I switched from Lexapro to Wellbutrin XL due to what seemed to be decreased efficacy. I have never been so miserable in my life! After 2 weeks I was feeling dizzy and had vertigo, which my doctor said should subside. The good news is that it did. The bad news is I started feeling tingling and numbness in my hands and feet. This feeling did not go away. I also experienced nausea, vomiting, severe agitation, and general malaise. After 5 weeks of being on Wellbutrin, I called my doctor and told her my symptoms. She has put me on Effexor, but I can't start the medication till my symptoms go away, which I hope will be soon because I think my family has about had it with me this last month. I hope Effexor helps and soon! Take care, everyone!"

"This did nothing for me, as far as I'm concerned. I think it's a placebo. I was very depressed because I felt awful every day. I could barely get out of bed, I felt exhausted, foggy-minded, my body ached, and a long list of other debilitating symptoms. I knew I wasn't just feeling these things physically for no reason. I'm only 30 years old, and when I started having memory problems, I knew that it wasn't just depression! My primary doctor did blood work and found I had some severe vitamin deficiencies! I got some prescription vitamins and changed my diet. I feel better physically and mentally! This may not help everyone, but I encourage you to make sure your doctor does a lot of tests to rule out other health issues before blaming depression."

"I used to take Wellbutrin XL 300 mg 25 years ago. It worked great! I'm not sure why I stopped taking it, but I'm on the 150 mg XL now at age 50. My doc wanted me to take it with Viibryd 10 mg daily. Don't do it! Horrible side effects from Viibryd, and insomnia is terrible! I am just sticking with the Wellbutrin 150 XL or possibly going back to 300 XL!:)"

"I have tried this drug for over a month. The first week, it helped with depression a bit. My doctor upped the dosage. But from the beginning, I had excessive sweating and knee pain. It would not go away. I lowered the dosage, still, nothing."

"Dealing with PTSD for 20+ years has been a blurry nightmare with very few gasps of air. My anger had gotten uncontrollable even though I thought it was. I have been on Haldol, Lexapro, and a couple of others. I have to admit Wellbutrin saved my marriage and more. The first few weeks were pretty rough, but after that, I can actually end an argument or conversation that's not going well without blowing up."

"I was prescribed Wellbutrin XL 300 mg about 2 years ago for major depressive disorder and anxiety. During that time, one of my depression side effects was overeating and weight gain. After about a year of taking it, I just continued because I had a lot of hair loss and thinning. My hair has grown back since I stopped taking it 6 months ago, however, I felt my mood and energy decline. I asked my doctor to please put me back on, which he has. It has only been a week, and I feel wonderful. My cravings are pretty much cut, I used to eat a lot of candy and chips as comfort food. Yesterday, I was craving something sweet and only had one mini Twix and was satisfied. I'm now convinced that Wellbutrin actually does work for weight loss, however, I've not lost any weight this first week the way others have."

"I have only been on this medication for 2 days, and right off the bat, I am noticing some slight stomach upset and nausea. I have tried countless other antidepressants before, with Zoloft, Paxil, and Trintellix not working for me for various reasons, mostly including an enormous amount of weight gain in a short period and nausea. I have always wanted to try this medication, mostly because I heard it usually does not cause weight gain; after losing almost 40 pounds, I would be devastated to gain it all back."

"I was dealing with mega anxiety that was starting to turn into a deep depression. I got on Wellbutrin about 2 months ago. I started with 150 mg and went to 300 in a little over a week. I had minimal side effects. I did notice the first few days and after the dose increase that I felt a little buzzy and had good energy. I was concerned it would make my anxiety worse; it didn't. Unfortunately, it didn't do enough for my anxiety (which it isn't usually used for that, which is why I'm still giving it a 9/10). It pulled me out of a very dark hole, but I really needed something more geared towards anxiety. Probably wasn't the best choice of meds for me, IMO. But I really think it could be great for others, especially with depression and low energy."

"I will post daily for the first 30 days. Today is my first day starting Wellbutrin at 150 mg for my first week, then 300 mg going forward. I'm taking it for severe depression, lack of energy, and to increase my mood. I'm currently also on 800 mg of Seroquel for bipolar 1 and 150 mg of trazodone to sleep, both of which are taken at night."

"Wellbutrin was without a doubt the most effective antidepressant I've ever taken. Unfortunately, a month and a half into treatment on 150 mg XL/day, I started getting cystic acne. It was terrible, and I knew it had to be the Wellbutrin, so I looked online and noticed other people complaining about getting acne as well. It was terrible, it only made my depression worse because I had these big cystic lumps on my face. A month after tapering off and taking antibiotics prescribed by my dermatologist, it finally went away, but I went back to being depressed."

"This was possibly the worst thing the doctor could have given me. Granted, he didn't know any effect it would have on me, but never again! After about a week or two, I had to stop taking them. It actually increased both my depression and anxiety. I was always tired, but I was super jittery as well. My mother informed me that I looked like I was on meth. Thanks, mom!"

"So let's say back when it was June 23, I went to the psychiatric hospital. I was there because I tried to kill myself with some anxiety medicine. Then they put me on Lexapro, Atarax, Abilify. That stuff put me in a dark, bad place. I was more suicidal, I felt stuck, slow, like people were moving too fast. Then I stopped taking it completely, I only took it for a month. Then I tried to hurt myself again in October. They put me on Wellbutrin XL. I liked it, I felt energized but couldn't fall asleep on it though. But they sent me home. I stopped taking it, now I take it and it still does the same thing, makes me happy and energized. Sometimes I have crying spells, but it's okay."
