"I have tried this medication as an add-on to Lexapro twice in the past year. Both times, I felt an immediate (within 3 days) change/improvement. I started at 0.5 mg and stopped because of weight gain. After several months of unrelenting depression and strong suicidal thoughts/intentions despite exercise and avoiding alcohol, I knew I had to try it again. Now I am on 1 mg and feel quite good. I am sleeping pretty much through the night, except when hormonal, but that has been a consistent experience. Overall, I do use less Xanax on this medication. My appetite has increased but has leveled off. My physical exercise routine has also increased, so I would say that I've only gained about 3-4 lbs total, whereas before I had gained about 7-9 lbs previously."

"I have been on antidepressants to control my GAD, panic attacks, and severe MDD for 16 years. Recently, I started with Serzone as the base antidepressant to avoid sexual side effects. It did nothing for sleep and was not really effective for depression or anxiety. Klonopin use went up to cope as I tried to learn 'tools.' Eventually, my psych added Risperidone for sleep, which didn't do much but did raise my prolactin levels, so my already low libido dropped further. He took me off Risperidone and added Gabapentin, which did start to help a little with sleep, and then added Remeron, which then finally brought my sleep into balance. But... the last critical piece was the Rexulti. For me, it was instantly effective at just one day to stop those body sensations of anxiety without any trigger, cause, or circumstance. I now finally felt calm and like I could actually live life. My interest in things increased and at day 5, continues to do so. Rexulti was like a light switch."

"This is by far the most effective antidepressant I have ever taken, after 23 years of drug therapy and numerous combinations. The only side effect has been some mania, causing me to feel like my 'brain is on fire'! So I do suffer from insomnia, mostly because of the increased brain activity. But I had insomnia before taking Rexulti, so this is not a new symptom. The 'mania' is not a negative; I am extremely productive and never get sad, stuck, or depressed."

"I've been anxiety-ridden since 7 years old with depression. Would not take psych meds until I finally had a severe breakdown with agoraphobia. Zoloft helped, but 5 years ago at 56, I needed inpatient care and outpatient programs. I tried over 15 additional meds, nothing worked. Abilify a bit, but too hyper. Rexulti has been great. Gets rid of anxiety fast and depression too. It does stimulate my appetite, and I've gained 20 lbs."

"I hate this medication (I had an adverse reaction). A couple of years back, my psychiatrist gave me a free trial of Rexulti to replace my antidepressant (I don’t remember what mg). I took it for about a week and a half before I started to have strong, consistent suicidal ideations. A week later, I put myself into a psychiatric hospital with the support of my therapist and psychiatrist. The hospital didn’t have any Rexulti, so I was forced to come off of it. After a week or so without taking it, the suicidal thoughts started to fade, and I was back to the depressed-but-not-suicidal state I had been in beforehand. I would give Rexulti 0/10 if I could."

"I have MDD severe/recurrent, gen anx w/a big social element, ADD & intrusive thoughts. I was about ready to go to an inpatient facility until my doc prescribed Rexulti. While still on the starter pack, I noticed significant improvement. I also take Effexor & Klonopin. (Ritalin for the ADD) I have mixed feelings about the side effects. I was super morbidly obese and lost 1/2 of my body weight. The weight gain, up at 3-3:30 am and severe am dizziness are starting to wear me out. My doc says no more than 6 months but I have gained 7 lbs in 3 weeks so I am not sure I want to see how much I will gain over the next 5 1/2 months... but, I was 1st diagnosed at 16, now 44 & I will say this drug is a lifesaver. The discount card program makes it 0.00!"

"Probably the best antipsychotic I have ever been. I have only responded to Abilify, and yet I still had some intense residual depressive, obsessive-compulsive, insomnia, and anxiety symptoms not allowing me to function well half the time-the side effects of Abilify were also too much. My doctor told me about Rexulti and how it is a better and cleaner version of Abilify, therefore, I agreed to try it. I have now been on it for a year, and it has helped me in ways that I am glad that I switched to it. The only issue is that it still causes weight gain and diabetes, but these are less severe than on Abilify. It is worth dealing with those side effects because now I no longer have insomnia and can function thanks to Rexulti."

"Rexulti took time to start working, and now I feel better than I have for a while. I've lost my parents and my ESA in the last 6 years. The downside is the weight gain. I've gained 20 lbs in a short period of time. I can't afford to gain weight, I'm already big. I eat the same things, I don't snack. In comparison, before Rexulti, I ate more than I do now and didn't gain weight. It's the weight gain that makes it problematic."

"I’ve been taking Rexulti for about 6 months now. I’m presently taking 1 mg/day. This medication has changed my life. I was on an SSRI (Zoloft then Paxil) for almost 18 years. I had severe breakthrough depression with menopause about 5 years ago, and the SSRIs were no longer working. In the past 5 years, I have been on numerous medications including atypical antipsychotics, mood stabilizers (Lithium, lamotrigine), Lexapro, and Latuda. Nothing was helping, and I was so low I was having persistent suicidal thoughts at one point. My psychiatrist started me on Rexulti on a whim. I feel like a new person. More energy and zest for life. I also take Seroquel for sleep, which I’m hoping to wean, and Adderall 20 mg in the morning. This combo works well for me. It is an expensive drug, but you can print an online coupon from the Rexulti website for a maximum $15 monthly copay with insurance."

"I'm taking this for bipolar 2 with major depressive disorder that has been treatment-resistant for over 5 years. Rexulti is the first drug that has ever worked for me. I have tried virtually everything previously, with things making me a zombie, worse than I was, or simply nothing at all. Rexulti has been a miracle drug for me. It does give me insomnia, so I'm going to try to switch to taking it in the morning to see if that helps. I am on a 2 mg dose."

"Rexulti is amazing in two categories: 1) depression and 2) massive weight gain. The weight gain does NOT come off when you stop Rexulti. Four years later, I’m still struggling with the 40 lbs I gained."

"I have been on Rexulti for about a year. A lifesaver!! I'm no longer stricken by depression and doomed with sadness and unmotivated. Rexulti has given me my life back, and I actually want to leave the house and do things. Great medication, not for everyone, though. I also did gain 30 pounds. Only downside."

"I've just started the starter pack of Rexulti. I am on day 3. It is replacing Abilify in my meds. I feel a lift in the depression, however, I am experiencing some agitation and anxiety. I'm hoping this improves. It is affecting my dreaming, they aren't nightmares, just very vivid and strange. I am hopeful for this medicine if we can just get the agitation to cease."

"I never thought I would feel alive again. I have struggled with major depressive disorder for six years. I’ve been on many medications hoping each time it would be the “magic pill.” When I started Rexulti, it took about two weeks for me to feel the positive impact of the medication. I feel present and a part of life again. I can get out of bed and do things and be happy! I am grateful for Rexulti and how it has helped me."

"This med is a miracle. I have major depressive disorder, c-ptsd, fibromyalgia, and chronic fatigue syndrome. I was already taking Zoloft, and it helps-ish, but the Rexulti is great... it gives me energy, makes me sunnier, and almost a little jolly, but most surprisingly, it keeps my nervous system calm and not always on the brink of activating and leaving me to feel awful. If you have PTSD, you know what I mean. The combo of health issues I have is so hard to treat because how do you feel calmer and less activated but also energetic? Amazing that this does that. Also, I feel so much more regulated as far as upset, anger, and triggers but not in a 'medicated' cloudy way like Xanax. The mood just passes like before I had PTSD. I don't feel so sensitive to every little noise and thing when I'm out in the world. I only take 0.25 mg! It's only been two weeks. It is a little harder to sleep and the dreams are vivid though. Hoping I don't get akathisia. This will put a pep in your step."

"I believe this drug has been the best to treat my depression, bipolar, and PTSD. I went from having suicidal ideations on a daily basis, and now I only have intrusive thoughts on occasion. I would recommend trying this drug if you get a chance. I tried Seroquel, Abilify, and all they did was make me tired and gain weight. Rexulti has been a great addition to my Lamictal to help balance my bipolar depression. I give Rexulti a 9/10."

"First couple of weeks were good, but after that, had a lot of nervous energy and a lot of waking up throughout the night. About a month in, I began having intrusive thoughts and had to be hospitalized. They took me off the Rexulti, and the intrusive thoughts went away after about two days."

"I have bipolar disorder, MDD, and GAD. I tried Abilify as an add-on, and it made me so tired all the time, and I gained weight. We switched to Rexulti, and I immediately felt fabulous. I was stable and optimistic! Soon after, I noticed I was eating nonstop. It was like an addiction. I struggle with weight as it is. I take Vyvanse for ADHD, and it helps curb my appetite a little, but the Rexulti still makes me want to eat all the time. Also, I've noticed it makes me really restless and irritable. I think it actually induces hypomania in me. I end up having major outbursts of anger and rage. It's even taken a toll on my marriage. I had to stop. I feel a little depressed, but it's better than being out of control."

"Rexulti helped save my life! I have been on it since 2014. Thanks to this drug, I have only had 2 episodes of MDD. I have suffered from depression since I was in my late teens, and I am 57 years old now. I had my first experience with MDD in October of 2013 and my second one sometime in 2016. My second episode of MDD was a lot milder, and I was able to recognize that I was battling another bout of it. I owe that all to Rexulti! Rexulti helps the other antidepressants that I am on to work better. I also have an awesome psychiatrist and psychologist that have really, really been there for me over the years."

"Prozac kept me 'in check' for around 30 years until it 'pooped out.' When added to the 20 mg of Brintellix, the addition of 2 mg of Rexulti has significantly improved my MDD symptoms. I began with the starter pack and went from 1/2 mg for a week, 1 mg for a week, and then to 2 mg, which I have been taking for the last 3 weeks. I have not experienced any side effects, and fortunately, my Dr. has been providing samples to me until I can find a way to obtain this drug at an affordable cost."

"I have Bipolar II with major depressive and borderline disorder, and I started on .5 mg per day for two weeks. I couldn't handle it, it brought on a lot of side effects. Once my doctor reduced it to .25 mg/day, I am feeling very good. The side effects are almost gone. It has helped immensely improve my day-to-day life with depression, which was causing anxiety and other triggers for my mood disorders. I was on Lamictal and Trileptal before this. I switched entirely to Rexulti 6 weeks ago. A great part of this is that it's quick to help with depression. A bad part: tolerance is a bit tricky. Restlessness, digestive issues, and insomnia were horrible when I was on the wrong dose. Also, hunger is huge. I see why people have gained weight. I don't think it's like SSRIs, where it screws with your metabolism. It just makes you hungry. Try to get a schedule down for eating and only eat at those times normal amounts of food. This helped me avoid weight gain. Highly recommend."

"I was put on half a mg for a week, then titrated to 1 mg. Everything was cool until about the 3rd or 4th week I started feeling overwhelmed and ridiculously tired to where I couldn't keep my eyes open. Then it progressed to full-blown anxiety in my POV. I never thought it could be Rexulti until I finally saw my doc, who took me off straight away after seeing how anxious I was. I can hardly deal with my son or life. He sadly has to calm himself as noise and lots of energy around me exacerbate my anxiety. I've been completely off for a day, but I'm wondering how long it will be before I'm not anxious. I hope not the 2-4 weeks my doc said. I can't keep living with all this anxiety and tiredness and wanting to cry all the time."

"I took this medication for a couple of months in high school, and it didn't help with my depression at all, and it caused me to gain serious weight. In four weeks, I had gained two inches around my waist, which likely equated to about 15 to 20 lbs. My eating habits did not change, nor did my appetite at all. This medication caused me serious stress and was not worthwhile for me."

"After starting a free sample pack of Rexulti with 0.5 mg and 1.0 mg tablets, I noticed a difference within just a few days. Remarkable. The 'painful thoughts' all but disappeared. I did another trial pack with the same positive results. I don't know if 1.0 mg is the 'therapeutic' dosage, but I'll stick with it for now. And NO side effects thus far. We'll see if cost will be an issue as I have Medi-Cal. By far and away the best atypical antipsychotic med I've tried thus far. (I'm also taking Cymbalta and Lithium)."

"24 years old. 4 years of treatment. I've tried transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS), etc., MAOIs, SSRIs, SNRIs, DNRI, atypicals... nothing worked. I took Rexulti... boom. I never thought life would ever be this good. God bless the people that found this. Thank you so much. I am going to hang out with my friends and family for the first time in 4 years."
