For Helicobacter Pylori Infection "So I am currently on Pylera for H. pylori. This is Day 8, and I can honestly say this is the worst. The first 5-6 days were fine! I was upbeat, then on day 7, I started feeling pregnant. I can smell everything, I can’t eat anything at all! I have no appetite. I throw up every morning, the nasty metal taste in my mouth, so tired, and feel like I never get any sleep. I don’t know what to do since I have to take the medication after meals, and I can’t eat, and I can’t miss a dose. I have to force myself to eat, but the nausea is horrible. I have mood swings, a fast heart rate.... BASICALLY FEEL LIKE I AM DYING SLOWLY. But I have to stick this through if I want to recover."

For Helicobacter Pylori Infection "I want to share with you my experience with Pylera, especially because before starting the treatment I was terrified by the side effects that I read here. Well, in my case, no side effects at all, so do not assume that it is going to be bad, every person has a different experience. Just make sure you eat and drink a lot of water, at least 1.5/2 liters per day. After 3 weeks, I did the test and H. pylori was gone. Good luck to everyone."

For Helicobacter Pylori Infection "I've been taking Pylera for 6 days. It's the worst experience I've had with taking this medication. I have all the side effect symptoms. Nausea and the bitter taste are the worst ones. I can't hardly eat, and I've thought about just giving up. This is supposed to be a good medicine, but the side effects will have you second-guessing yourself. I don't think I could make it to day 10. Twelve pills a day are too much meds to take in for anyone. I'm praying that I could get through this. At least they should be able to prescribe you something for nausea. On top of that, I stay sleepy all the time. This med sucks!!"

For Helicobacter Pylori Infection "After reading all the odd side effects, I hesitate to start my treatment with Pylera, but I need to start sooner or later, even if I don't have any symptoms of this infection. I had just three side effects: on my day one, I had a headache all day, and on day two, I felt weak all day, dark stools until I finished the treatment, and that was all my bad side effects. I stopped all my medications and vitamins one week before starting to take Pylera and cut all dairy and red meat. I think the key is to drink a lot of water and have a proper meal. I had a full bottle of water (17.9 fl. oz) every time I took my Pylera capsules and omeprazole, and more water in between my meals and fruits during the day. I'm just waiting for a couple of weeks to see my doctor and find out if this treatment got rid of the pylori bacteria. Good luck to everyone, and remember you need to drink a lot of water, water, water, and more water during the day, fruits, vegetables, fish, and poultry."

For Helicobacter Pylori Infection "I am a GI specialist, and I have prescribed Pylera many times... should have asked my patients better about their experiences with side effects. Why? Because I was diagnosed with H. pylori gastritis myself and chose Pylera as first choice eradication! What a nightmare! Days 1-3 were okay, but then I experienced all the above-mentioned side effects, crept to work, lost 6 pounds of weight, and as one of you mentioned: that's how chemotherapy must feel like! I fought through (under the concerned, pitiful looks of my colleagues) and finished yesterday still feeling pretty bad and exhausted. Hope it worked!"

For Helicobacter Pylori Infection "I wanted to share my experience for those out there feeling anxious about taking this medication. I too read the horror stories and warnings that fill these message boards. Of course, the schedule that you must keep for Pylera is no fun, and there will probably be a few uncomfortable moments of headaches and nausea. But truly, we should thank our lucky stars that we live in a moment of human history with such incredible innovations as antibiotics. I was sick from H. pylori for years. Burning, dyspepsia, tightness in my throat-I was scared that something was really wrong until I was finally diagnosed. It’s been a month since finishing my course of treatment, and although I don’t feel 100% better, the H. pylori is eradicated, and I’m on my way towards healing my stomach. I’m so grateful every day that I committed to getting rid of this malady. These drugs are your ally. Take it! And remember that only a few generations ago, you would have had no choice but to endure H. pylori forever."

For Helicobacter Pylori Infection "I finally got rid of H. pylori after completing Pylera in Dec 2015. This was after 2 courses of other antibiotics combo that failed to eradicate it. Before taking Pylera, I had read other reviews that were scary. I promised myself I would come back and review for others in a similar situation. Please make sure you take a really good probiotic (taken at a different time) and ask for an anti-nausea medication to offset/lessen the side effects; it will make taking Pylera much more doable."

For Helicobacter Pylori Infection "Just to counter all the fear here. On day 8, zero side effects other than feeling that my GI function is actually feeling better. Pain to take all the pills, omeprazole morning and night before meals, others four times a day after meals containing mostly carbs. And Florastor twice a day, only probiotic not killed by treatment. Thought perhaps mostly people with bad experiences post, thought some light could be helpful."

For Helicobacter Pylori Infection "I am 22 years old. I’ve been suffering from Helicobacter pylori for 2 years with severe nausea, gastritis, and bloating. I’ve already taken 2 courses of antibiotics, and the bacteria were still resistant. So I decided not to go to the GI just because I was afraid that the doctor would prescribe me Pylera, which causes side effects, and so I had just been treating the symptoms. Today I finished my 10 days of treatment. For all those who are reading my review, don’t be anxious, it is not that bad at all. Just make sure that you eat before you take the pills. You may have stomach pain - it will go away after taking omeprazole, and you may have nausea, but it can be fixed with what my doctor prescribed me: a medication for nausea (no more nausea after I take it, especially since I’ve been suffering from nausea for 2 years). The only thing that really made me feel uncomfortable is the bad smell of stool. In general, Pylera treatment is not bad at all, just don’t be dramatic. I hope that I got rid of Helicobacter pylori because it really hurts and increases the risk of stomach cancer."

For Helicobacter Pylori Infection "My success rates for eradicating H. pylori with Pylera is 100%. It's a gruesome protocol that involves severe Herxheimer reactions - die-off symptoms. However, there's an old trick to deal with severe Herx reactions: a bit of cortisone. I have found that using prednisone 10 mg for one up to 3 days at the most can make the whole difference. There're fewer reactions, and people are more compliant to do the protocol until the end because they can withstand it."

For Helicobacter Pylori Infection "Before I started my treatment with Pylera, I read the reviews; quite honestly, I was terrified and almost did not take the medicine out of fear of experiencing these side effects. My experience with Pylera: I am on my 6th day, and I have not experienced anything besides a slight headache in the morning that goes away as soon as I drink water. My symptoms have almost gone away entirely, and I feel much better. It is a pain in the rear to have to take 14 pills a day and not be able to drink alcohol and milk products (both my favorites), but if it is the price for making this feeling of having a wet sock in my chest, I will gladly pay it."

For Helicobacter Pylori Infection "I wanted to share my review, as this review page helped me a lot. I took Pylera in December 2023 for 10 days, as I had pains in my stomach for the past several months. I recently took a test, which came back negative! The 10 days with Pylera were hard, as I had continuous strong (sometimes even stronger than before) pains in my stomach and back, which made it difficult for me to sleep well. I was exhausted. I experienced heart pain at night on day 6, which made me wonder if I should call an ambulance. I wasn't sure if the bacteria had gone by the time I finished Pylera. However, the test showed negative, and I started feeling normal only around 2-3 weeks after finishing Pylera. During this time, my diet consisted mainly of vegetables, bananas, white bread, rice, and eggs. I avoided caffeine, alcohol, sour fruits, chocolates, and dairy products. I took the tablets at 6am, 11am, 4pm, and 9pm. So, when taking Pylera, be prepared for some side effects. But it is worth finishing, unless there are extreme adverse effects."

For Helicobacter Pylori Infection "After reading some of the reviews here, I was very nervous about taking it. So nervous that I got stomach cramps even before taking it! But then I decided to take it anyway, and 2 days after, I was better! I realized that this medicine was meant for people with ulcers so it could not make me worse. I just finished the treatment. I got soft dark stools, skin sensitivity (some itching), occasional stomach pain/dia discomfort, but nothing more. It is boring because of the night take, but that is all. My only mistake was that I replaced milk with an oat drink, and I discovered that it had calcium in it, so be aware of that because calcium affects the medicine's efficiency. And don't be afraid, it is boring to take too many pills, but it is safe!"

For Helicobacter Pylori Infection "It was effective per se, as it successfully eradicated H. Pylori. But it completely destroyed my GI tract. I finished Pylera 2 months ago, and the GI pains are horrendous, I feel worse than when I had the bacterium... seriously."

For Helicobacter Pylori Infection "I'm back again to tell of my ordeal with Pylera antibiotic. This medication is not a joke. I had all the side effects, the most difficult is loss of appetite and metallic taste in my mouth. I didn't want to even see food or go near it. I was tired and lost weight within 3 days of taking this medication. I had to ignore every social gathering and stay home, cancel all my assignments, and lay in bed helplessly. I thought I would not survive the 10 days. I remember one night I went out in the middle of the night, frustrated and calling the emergency line the doctor gave me. They encouraged me to stay on the course until I finish my last dose yesterday. I feel sorry for everyone who has gone through this, and I wish one day we live without sickness or if there should be an easy way of healing sickness. Please be mentally and physically prepared before taking this medication. I will be doing a breath test in a couple of weeks to see if my sickness is eradicated, speaking from Germany. Thank you."

For Helicobacter Pylori Infection "I am finishing up my 7th day of the medication. Every website I have read made me extremely nervous about taking this medication. If I can give any advice, eat a full meal before you take the medication! If you don't eat, you will be extremely nauseous and throw up. I hate forcing myself to eat, but if it prevents the nausea, I will do it. You need to eat 4 meals per day. Drink plenty of water all day! The mornings are hard because you do wake up nauseous, but the first thing I do is grab a bottle of water and drink some. I ended up with darkened stool and diarrhea, but other than that everything has been going fine."

For Helicobacter Pylori Infection "I felt pretty bad for the first couple of days. What really helped me was eating a full meal before each dose. On the dose that you take before bed, I ate a banana, dry toast, and kefir probiotic drink. This really helped me not to feel nauseous in the morning. I also took a probiotic tablet in the morning. I drank a lot of water and chewed gum for the metallic taste. If you stick with it, the medicine will work. My doctor had me continue on the probiotics after finishing these medicines."

For Helicobacter Pylori Infection "I’ve been on Pylera for 10 days. Tonight, I take my last 3 pills. Yes, it’s been so awful. I’m tired, the headaches are awful, and the nausea is horrible. I’ve dealt with H. pylori for the last 14 years. Literally. I’ve taken multiple doses of the PrevPac, but it keeps coming back. I get severe stomach cramps, constant vomiting, diarrhea, headaches, and so on with H. pylori. It’s like having an ongoing flu. Worst of all has been the lightheadedness and being dizzy. I hope like anything that after this it gets rid of the H. pylori. I can deal with 10 days of this if it eliminates the H. pylori. It’s tough, but don’t give up. It’s worth it in the end. Yes, I’ve been irritable because the headaches have been so severe. Hopefully, this works."

For Helicobacter Pylori Infection "I was diagnosed with a peptic ulcer, and the cause was H. Pylori. I was given Pylera. I have had a few discomforts, but overall, everything went well. Yesterday was the 10th day. I took probiotic supplements twice a day. The stool was a little dark and greenish, but nothing like black. Maybe the probiotic helped. No diarrhea, and the stool was very thick. I did feel very weak during the day and feverish for the first few days. My mouth was bitter, and even the water tasted bitter. I am glad I completed my course but will have to do a breath test in a month to see if this medicine eradicated the culprit from my body. I took pantoprazole with Pylera in the morning after breakfast and after dinner. I will be taking probiotics for the next 10 days."

For Helicobacter Pylori Infection "Just gotta say to everyone that we all have different experiences and reactions to medicine, the side effects people talk about shouldn’t scare. I followed through with the antibiotic + omeprazole, 12 a day/2 a day each, making sure to stay hydrated and eat very well before each dose, added natural remedies and probiotics onto the mix as well to surround the bacteria like they do in battle. I went through little to no side effects, the only ones I had were dark stools because the bismuth is strong and makes your stool either dark green or absolute black, a bit of cramps here and there on the first days, and that’s totally normal, minimal cramps mean the antibiotic is doing its job. Tons of water kept the nausea away, double the suggested amount. Fatigue wasn’t so prominent, I only felt very sleepy towards the end of the day. Now I don’t have as much gas, no more diarrhea, I feel refreshed and good."

For Helicobacter Pylori Infection "I was prescribed to take Pylera to get rid of H. pylori. To be honest, this medicine has ruined my life. I have had all the worst side effects. I wanted to give up, but I stood strong and finished all the doses. After 4 weeks of taking Pylera, I went for the breath test, and luckily the bacteria is dead, but I have lost my sleep. I have severe depression and severe anxiety. It’s been more than two months now since I have finished my treatment. I hope I feel better and start living a normal, healthy life again. This medicine is just poison."

For Helicobacter Pylori Infection "It's my 10th day. The first 3 days, I had a general feeling of being ill, like all was not well, but I couldn't place my hands on the illness, but I was strong enough to work. I felt slightly lethargic and had a metallic taste in my mouth, which my pharmacist had warned me about. I didn't feel nauseous, but by the 4th day, I woke up feeling good and bursting with energy and felt like my body was asking for the next dose close to the time of taking the next dose. I ate a good meal before each dose, and it decreased any feeling of unease. My stool is black, a lot more, and is like coffee grounds. I wish my doctor had told me about taking probiotics to replace good bacteria."

For Helicobacter Pylori Infection "I wish that I did not take this horrible drug (Pylera). I recently learned that taking raw turmeric would kill the bacteria. During the treatment, I thought I was going to die. I absolutely had no energy. I was dizzy, nauseated, had no appetite. I could not take care of my 3 kids. I could not work. I was in bed and counted down the days to finish the treatment. I was not able to finish the last dosage. Six weeks later, I went in for a breath test and, sure enough, the bacteria was eradicated, but I am left with horrible symptoms. I believe this drug has caused my body to be so weak that my chronic pain has aggravated, and my sensitive stomach has gotten worse. My stomach demands foods every 2-3 hours. I have gained so much weight."

For Helicobacter Pylori Infection "I am on day 7 of this Pylera pill. I really hope it works because I don’t think I can do it again. The headaches, the nausea, the weird taste started after day 4. It’s hard to find things to eat, so if anyone has ideas, please share. Full meals are helpful and lots of water. Fresh fruits, no dairy. It’s very draining, so lots of rest is needed. Glad I found this site. Stay strong."
