Amphetamine / dextroamphetamine for ADHD "I am only giving this a 7 because it definitely made a change in my ability to concentrate for long periods, but it was not a pleasant experience. As soon as I took the medicine, it would make me feel exhausted and tired. I would have to fight the tiredness to get any benefit out of it. By the end of the day, I was drained. It also made me extra agitated. I couldn't focus on more than one thing at a time, so when someone would distract me, I would get very irritated. I also tensed up my muscles and had bad neck/bad pain. I switched to Ritalin, but that was crap too. They put me on Vyvanse, and it feels similar, but less intense than Adderall, so we shall see."

For ADHD "I was on the name brand Adderall 20 mg twice a day for years until my pharmacist switched me to the BARR generic brand, and now I'm having horrible mood swings, very irritable, can't seem to sleep at night, and after my first dose in the morning I have a horrible come down that lasts all day. It doesn't matter if I take another pill or even two, they won't give me any energy or concentration! This is the worst generic brand out there! And I looked it up-tons of people have the exact same issues with the BARR generic brand! Make sure if you're getting the generic that you ask your pharmacist if he or she's going to give you the BARR brand, because you need to go to a different pharmacy! Worthless, horrible stuff!"

For ADHD "This review is only for Amneal generic Adderall XR 15mg and 20mg. Recently switched from 10mg generic XR Sandoz to 15-20mg generic XR Amneal. Sandoz worked really well for me, though it made me irritable coming off of it. I had to switch to a higher dose, and everyone I called within a 15-25 mile radius had Lannet and Amneal for those doses, so I got stuck with the latter. I get absolutely no boost to concentration with Amneal 15mg or 20mg. I do notice an energy increase and a suppressed appetite. I eliminated possible other explanations for the lack of focus, reduced screen time, increased sleep to 9 hours, ate healthy, but still no noticeable effects after several weeks. I'm thinking the brand is a wash. I've tried multiple manufacturers, and I can say that Actavis and Sandoz worked for me the best. Luckily, I'm in a good place financially, so I'm going to pay 2.5k a year to try the name brand."

Amphetamine / dextroamphetamine for ADHD "I was prescribed Adderall IR 10 mg 2x daily last summer, but the dips between dosages were awful. My doctor prescribed Mydayis 12.5 mg to see if the XR would help even out the lows. Mydayis took several hours to kick in. I had to wake up 2 hours earlier than normal just to be productive by an acceptable time. The overall productivity effects were minimal. I became horribly irritable. I could not be in the same room as others, and noise made me 'fighty'. (I typically have a very quiet, sweet disposition.) I slept far more than average and noticed significant gaps in my memory. I was very nauseous, and I began violently vomiting after each pill. Overall, it was an awful experience. I am back on Adderall IR and realize, as a college student, XR is not best for me. I need to be in control of the effective period. IR gives me flexibility that Mydayis and pills like it can't provide."

Amphetamine / dextroamphetamine for ADHD "This drug provides great concentration for a couple of hours. However, after a couple of hours, I predictably experience extreme anxiety, depression, and irritability. It can easily cause you to get into an argument with someone you love because you are so easily irritated and frustrated by anything. The anxiety is the worst. Being a previous smoker, Adderall increases my craving to smoke by tenfold (a habit I have quit and hardly have cravings for anymore). I also find that the drug clouds my ability to think when doing brain-intensive work such as programming, math, or even typing. I think that might be related to the dosage, though. I don't recommend this medication to anyone (other than those with severe ADHD)."

Amphetamine / dextroamphetamine for ADHD "I was on Adderall for about 10 years after I lost too much weight on Dexatrim. I began when I was about 10 and went all the way up to 40-60 mg a day, depending on how I felt. I was great for focus, but I definitely had sweaty pits, which I find really annoying. After Adderall stopped working, I switched to Concerta for 3 years, then to Vyvanse, which was incredible. All of these medications, though, made me feel like a schizo. Because I started so young, I got used to the feelings, but I would be a robot when I was on them, and coming down, irritable until I ate, then crazy hyper. Adderall did everything it was supposed to do, and because of it, I was able to get into a great boarding school, great college, and now grad school."

Amphetamine / dextroamphetamine "I have severe obstructive sleep apnea and have taken Foclin, Adderall, Adderall XR, and now Mydayis. Foclin was horrible and made me extremely irritable. IR Adderall 30mg x 2 each day worked great for years as long as it was in stock (only 1 generic brand worked), but it always had peaks and valleys. Mydayis is totally different but in the BEST ways!!! I wake up in the morning, take the Mydayis, lay back down for an hour, and when I get back up I am good to go for the rest of the day. I use this medication for daytime alertness because I drive for 4-6 hours each day and usually work anywhere between 8 and 12 hours each day. Unlike Adderall, Mydayis lasts all day, every day, every time. I don't have to remember to bring my meds with me every day, and I have no problem going to sleep at night."

For ADHD "I'm 40, and have been on every milligram of Adderall and onset level. They can and will dehydrate you, cause headaches, anxiety, and irritability. BECAUSE YOU'RE OVERDOING OR MISUSING IT! Why are you surprised? Your doctor hopefully warned you about the side effects, so did the pharmacy as they stapled that huge pamphlet of documents on that little white bag, describing and warning you. Amphetamines are strong. So use them right, because they are very beneficial for us that truly need them."

Amphetamine / dextroamphetamine for ADHD "Caused increased irritability and insomnia. Having to wake up early to take the medication because it lasts so long is very frustrating, especially when it causes insomnia. I started getting up at 5 AM to take it and still wasn't able to fall asleep until after 1 AM."

Amphetamine / dextroamphetamine for ADHD "Started taking Mydayis after Vyvanse got to be really expensive. For the first month, I was on a 37.5 mg. It didn’t seem to help my focus, and worse yet, by 7 PM, I was ridiculously irritable. The doctor decided to increase my dose to 50 mg during month 2. The first few days, I felt pretty good. But by 5 days in, I felt awful again. This time, I felt like a zombie, had zero focus, and still felt mad at the world. This stuff is awful. I would never recommend taking this stuff. Time to go back to Vyvanse."

Amphetamine / dextroamphetamine for ADHD "I’ve been on Adderall immediate release for at least 8 years, probably more. At first, Adderall gave me an intense high and made me very talkative. Very talkative. That lasted for a few days, and after that, each morning when I took it, it gave me a euphoric feeling for about half the day. I wasn’t making impulsive decisions like I had in the past, and my focus was razor-sharp. I really enjoyed this drug for some time, but the last 3-5 years it’s just been the same old same old. I take it in the morning and have somewhat of a boost in energy and focus, but after around 11 a.m., the effects of the medication just wear off. I wind up feeling irritable, decent focus if I’m busy at work, and just downright not very social with people. This week I’m going to see my P.A. and hopefully get on Vyvanse, which I was encouraged by many to try before jumping on Adderall. Vyvanse is more expensive, but I’m ready to feel more focused and more like myself."

Amphetamine / dextroamphetamine for ADHD "I was on this for ADHD, but it was surprisingly effective for borderline personality disorder symptoms as well. I know an addictive medication is not ideal for some with borderline, but it works for me in some ways. At first, it helped a lot with mood stability, irritability, motivation, and impulsivity. I’m about 8 months in on the same dose (20 mg), and it is still helpful with irritability and impulsivity, but that goes away at night when it wears off. It’s a decent temporary relief. For ADHD, it’s stayed about the same level of effectiveness for me. I can focus pretty okay during the day as long as my Borderline Personality Disorder isn’t causing me to fixate on something. This is pretty solid for me, though, because I haven’t tried another medication that works for my ADHD. I've tried Wellbutrin and SNRIs, and they just made everything worse for me. This one doesn’t make anything worse at least, but it does drop in effectiveness over time."

Amphetamine / dextroamphetamine "I personally didn't like the way I felt when I decided to take more before the scheduled time to take it. I was very agitated, couldn't sleep for 3 days even though I felt tired and wanted to sleep. Do not do more than the recommended dosage."

For ADHD "I have had ADHD since I was diagnosed in 2003. Over 15 years of trying every medication for ADHD, I have found a fit for myself and talked to many others that have tried different treatments. I used to take 35 XR with 10 mg boosters. Now I take 3 10 mg IR a day, one when I wake up, one at lunch, and one before or around 4-5 pm. The XR actually caused me to be irritable and didn't cause much change in my normal non-medicated habits, unlike Vyvanse would. This works great for ADHD if you have a doctor or psychiatrist that is willing to figure out what dosage works for you. Eat before you take each dose."

For ADHD "My 18-year-old son takes Adderall 30 mg, time released. I am amazed by the change in him, and so is he. He has not been taking it for a week now, and I came to the site to see what others are saying about it, and from what I have read, it can make you very irritable and such if you just stop like that and miss days or think you don't need it for some days, and that totally explains to me the drastic change in my son this past week (very grumpy and easily irritated). Thanks for all the comments."
