Amphetamine / dextroamphetamine for ADHD "I would like to first say that my experience with Adderall was overall successful, it most definitely helped my concentration and ability to focus. However, there are some side effects that I think are worth noting. I had minimal anxiety prior to taking this medication (only when traveling). My anxiety dramatically increased to the point where I was put in therapy and almost took a medical leave from work. (I quit taking the medication once I realized it was a significant contributing factor - although not completely to blame.) I had a very dry mouth while prescribed, which actually ended up leading to cavities according to my dentist. Noticeable lower back pain and problems sleeping (both are alleviated once you quit taking the meds)."

For ADHD "I don't like having to take it. I am able to work and get stuff done, but it messes with other aspects of my life. Plus, the market is loaded with fraudulent generic companies. Your pharmacy can switch you to another brand, and all of a sudden, it is like you took nothing at all. Taking the Aurolife/Aurobindo brand at large doses a day (over the max dose) and not even up to par with the 40 to 60 I normally take of a better generic. And, you can't stop taking it since your body has become reliant on it. I took generic Adderall for a year, stopped taking it except for job interviews and tests. It took me 6 months to normalize. Now I've been on it for another 14 years or so. If I stop taking it, I will be unable to work or even basically function. I will sleep all day and not be able to focus even a little. Meds have screwed up my sleeping habits. Chronically sleep deprived. Also, it has been messing with my endocrine system. And so much more, but I reached my text limit."

For ADHD "Prescribed for ADD and excessive daytime sleepiness. Very good at helping me focus when I need it. It also works too well for my fatigue, I went from feeling like a narcoleptic to having insomnia. I had to cut back on my prescribed dose because it was too much. I take only 5 mg when I need it. Even though this medication will wake you up, you absolutely must manage your time and get some quality sleep, because most side effects come from lack of sleep. Be careful with this as it can be habit-forming and addictive. The key is to eat well and sleep well when on this medication."

Amphetamine / dextroamphetamine for ADHD "Pretty bad. In fact, this is the worst ADHD med I have taken since Ritalin. It lasts longer? Well, it takes like 3 hrs for it to kick in, and when it does, the effect isn't that strong. That same effect lasts for about 6-8 hrs, then it drops hard. Side effects are hilarious. I get the shakes, tingles, drowsiness (even right after I take it), itchiness, inability to sleep. That sounds like a crackhead. Pros are that my appetite has been decent, I'm more social. It's almost like I didn't even take anything. Take Vyvanse if you want to focus. It's smoother and stronger. This is a dirty drug for me."

Amphetamine / dextroamphetamine for ADHD "I have been taking Adderall since 2005, it is now 2021. I've taken about every brand there is. In my opinion, the best Adderall is a generic manufactured by IMPAX, although I've heard good things about SANDOZ, and currently pay the full price to take the name brand SHIRE, because since COVID, I can't get any more of my beloved IMPAX, and I could only find two brands, TEVA (which is medical malpractice in pill form), and PAR (ironic brand name since that is about all I can say for their Adderall, but anything is better than TEVA). I would rather not take anything at all and face the challenges of being ADHD, such as inability to stay focused at work, sleep deprivation, and the like, rather than take a TEVA ever again. I threw my last bottle out and waited a month."

Amphetamine / dextroamphetamine for ADHD "I've been taking Mydayis for about 2 weeks. I was diagnosed with ADHD 7 years ago and took Adderall XR 30 mgs + 10 mgs every day. Even though it helped me in many ways, it also made me antisocial, anxious, overused it sometimes, and very thirsty at all times. For those reasons, I decided to try something else (Mydayis 37.5). Honestly, I feel much more motivated, my energy increased, I'm no longer antisocial, no crash, and, most importantly, I can focus well. For about a week, I had some side effects (increased heartbeat, couldn't sleep, couldn't focus well, high BP), so give it some time to adjust. I also read that most people who switched from Vyvanse to Mydayis are suffering from depression. Be careful."

Amphetamine / dextroamphetamine "I am a 46-year-old female and have taken Adderall XR 10 mg for over a year now. Adderall has helped me tremendously. Before starting it, I could barely get out of bed. Had no interest in anything, not even living. Couldn't focus; nearly a zombie. As long as I take it, I'm a happy, functional person. Some issues with insomnia, but nothing unmanageable. Don't take it on my days off to avoid building a tolerance. However, I have become totally dependent on this medicine. Recently tried to stop taking it. On the second day without it, I was useless, and by the third day, I was like a zombie."

Amphetamine / dextroamphetamine for ADHD "Mydayis was the most effective drug I have ever taken for my ADHD, and it worked too well. It is very good for getting any kind of work done, but the side effects were so insanely negative that I could not handle taking them any longer. I was prescribed Mydayis 25 mg, and I would take it on the weekdays for school and sports to stay focused, but it had really affected my sleep, my appetite, my mental health drastically declined, I could not think rationally, and I was so irritable all of the time. The Mydayis had worsened my depression, anxiety, and would trigger me to pick my eyelashes and eyebrows (trichotillomania). While it had me wanting to do my work and I was finally motivated, I simply could not take the side effects anymore."

For ADHD "I was on the name brand Adderall 20 mg twice a day for years until my pharmacist switched me to the BARR generic brand, and now I'm having horrible mood swings, very irritable, can't seem to sleep at night, and after my first dose in the morning I have a horrible come down that lasts all day. It doesn't matter if I take another pill or even two, they won't give me any energy or concentration! This is the worst generic brand out there! And I looked it up-tons of people have the exact same issues with the BARR generic brand! Make sure if you're getting the generic that you ask your pharmacist if he or she's going to give you the BARR brand, because you need to go to a different pharmacy! Worthless, horrible stuff!"

Amphetamine / dextroamphetamine "I’ve been taking this for the last three months because generic Adderall has been out of stock. This helps with narcolepsy a little, but it is way less effective than Adderall. It’s better than taking nothing at all and trying to stay awake. One positive is that I don’t suffer from insomnia as much as I do when taking Adderall."

Amphetamine / dextroamphetamine for ADHD "Adderall XR (along with a short-acting booster at noon) is hands down the best ADHD med I've been on (and I've tried several now). Some of the other meds I've tried either made me crash really hard after a couple of hours or worked well but affected my sleep (with Adderall, I like that I can even nap during the day if I need to). I was diagnosed about 7 years ago, and I never realized how much I was struggling until I started on meds. Around that time, I also fell ill with an autoimmune disease (Myasthenia Gravis), and my meds also help greatly with the fatigue that comes with MG. I can now get up in the morning with no problem (I highly recommend setting your alarm for 30 minutes to an hour before you need to get up, take your meds, go back to sleep, then get up once your meds have started to work), get things done with much less procrastination, and focus much better. Nothing will ever cure my ADHD, but Adderall XR has made a world of difference!"

Amphetamine / dextroamphetamine for ADHD "I was diagnosed with ADHD in '06, and I found out in order to have ADHD as an adult, you had to have it as a child. So I look back on my childhood in real life, I did have ADHD as a kid but never got treatment for it because my mom didn't believe in any mental illness. So I didn't start treatment for ADHD until 2006. I was placed on Ritalin, but I found it to be ineffective, and then I stopped treatment. I started treatment up again a few months ago, and I was given Adderall, and I found it to be very effective working, but with two major side effects: it keeps me awake and causes constipation. But outside of those two, it works wonderfully."

Amphetamine / dextroamphetamine for ADHD "Caused increased irritability and insomnia. Having to wake up early to take the medication because it lasts so long is very frustrating, especially when it causes insomnia. I started getting up at 5 AM to take it and still wasn't able to fall asleep until after 1 AM."

Amphetamine / dextroamphetamine for ADHD "I started taking Adderall a few months ago. It has really helped me at work and home. At work, I sit at a desk, work on a computer, and talk on the phone. I have many things going on at once, and Adderall has helped me focus and gives me the energy that I need. Sitting at a desk and staring at a computer can make you tired. Also, it gives me focus on the many tasks I am doing at once. After work, I go home to a wife and a 20-month-old, full of energy and an active child. My wife works as well, so we are both tired when we get home. After work, there is still a lot of work to be done, with the child, household work, and yard work. Overall, Adderall is working well. Only drawback is if I take too late in the day, it is hard to fall asleep at night."

Amphetamine / dextroamphetamine for ADHD "Please be aware of all side effects before taking this drug. Adderall is highly addictive, and it is very likely that taking this drug will lead one to continue to do so for a long period of time out of necessity. It's best to slowly decrease the intake of the drug so the withdrawal symptoms are not too intense. Taking more than prescribed can lead to severe and even life-threatening situations. Hallucinations, hearing voices, severe insomnia, and personality changes are inevitable if abused. With that being said, this is a highly effective yet short-term solution because of the dependency factor. At times, the side effects may be so severe that the person taking the drug doesn't even notice because they are so happy and focused on everything else. Notice excessive movement?"

Amphetamine / dextroamphetamine for ADHD "I was diagnosed with ADD at 21, as a junior in college. Before Adderall, I was an average student. I had a short attention span and difficulty efficiently completing tasks. The first time I took it, I read long passages and retained all the information. I actually followed my professors in class. I didn't dread studying anymore; I actually kind of enjoyed it! I couldn't believe it. Within 2 semesters, my GPA has gone from a 3.1 to a 3.5. There are only a few downsides that come to mind. First, I have trouble falling asleep at night. Next, I get irritated when studying/tasks are interrupted. Also, coming off of it, I feel extremely tired for at least 3 or 4 days."

For ADHD "Been on Adderall for about 4 years total. I started on 20 mg XR, which I thought lasted too long, and I couldn't sleep at night. So I got switched to 20 mg IR tablets for 3 years. My tolerance has grown since, so I recently bumped up to 30 mg IR tablets. As a person suffering from ADHD, Adderall was a lifesaver. I was struggling in school, could not focus at work, my room/car was a total mess, I could barely hold a conversation. Since getting on Adderall, none of those things are an issue. It has helped me greatly in being able to function in everyday life. It's increased motivation significantly. My only complaint about it is the duration, IR is too short, and XR is too long. Also, tolerance develops quickly, I can easily handle about 40-50 mg at once."

Amphetamine / dextroamphetamine for ADHD "Uneven throughout the day, especially noticeable dip after 4 hours or so, then wears off gradually. The directions say to take it in the morning, but I need all-day coverage (I have severe ADHD), so I need another dose around 3 pm. No insomnia problems with this usage, though I tend to go to bed late anyway (after 2 am)."

Amphetamine / dextroamphetamine for ADHD "It helps keep me calm and focused at work. I do suffer insomnia if I don't take my daily dose consistently. I tried to stop taking it, and my metabolism took a severe nosedive even though I never had weight problems before. I did lose about ten pounds when I started taking it, but it leveled off, and I was able to maintain a healthy weight. I would have liked to try a more natural approach to managing my ADD, but the weight gain has added depression, and therefore I'm back on it."

Amphetamine / dextroamphetamine for ADHD "I'm eighteen years old and was taking Concerta (54 mgs). I decided to try this (50 mgs), and wow. First night, absolutely no sleep, tossing and turning constantly. Second night, I was able to get in about 5 hours even though I took the medication at 6 a.m. and tried to go to sleep at 12 a.m. Third day was actually good, very focused and felt decent. But that night all hell broke loose. Tossing and turning again, and started thinking I did things that I really didn't do. Needless to say, not a fun time."

Amphetamine / dextroamphetamine for ADHD "I have ADD caused by major depressive disorder, and stimulants have done wonders for me! However, Adderall makes me feel very anxious and panicky, and I don't like it at all. It lasts a long time, and sometimes I can't sleep at night because of it. Overall, it's an alright choice. Might switch back to Vyvanse."

Amphetamine / dextroamphetamine for ADHD "Double-edged sword with Adderall. Great for concentration, brought my college GPA from a 2.5 to a 3.7, amazing. Although I do have trouble sleeping with it, and I often have mild bouts of depression, and a roller coaster of emotion that I never have had before. Although it is important to state that this may be because I am not eating as much and forget to eat, which could easily cause these symptoms. AMAZING for athletics, I am able to run 3-4 times farther with this, really great. A nice feeling when it's working and with a definite comedown. It's important to mention I am on the IR version, which could be causing these side effects. My food habits are also now VERY healthy."
