Amphetamine / dextroamphetamine for ADHD "This medication is absolutely amazing for those who really suffer from ADHD. You will experience side effects such as loss of appetite, loss of sleep, hyperactivity, dry mouth, and dehydration, but they go away with time. There is a right dosage for everyone. Try to find your dosage and genetic brand that works for you, and with proper nutrition, it will change your life! I've suffered from ADHD since I was a child. I was never able to focus or finish tasks. I would do so much better in life, in every aspect of it, if I had discovered this medication earlier in life! But like a lot of people on here say, better late than never! I am now on 15 mg IR twice a day. Give it a try, just do it right!"

For ADHD "Last month I was dispensed Epic, which was not good for me. This month I was dispensed Lennett. It is very mild but is working so far, at least these produce the concentration needed for reading and communication skills. After months of this ongoing shortage, your pharmacist cannot order your meds based on preference. I haven't seen a Teva for about a year. Alvogen/A-80 peak, round is one of the better pharmaceutical generic Adderall in my opinion. I've been treated with these for better than 20 years. Without them, my life is a mess, can't sleep or wake up. Terrible way to live, time for this to end!!"

Amphetamine / dextroamphetamine for ADHD "I have benefited a lot with this medication. Only problem I have is taking it too late in the day and having insomnia side effects. Like right now it's 3:30 a.m. on a school night, and I can't sleep! Do not take Adderall after a certain hour."

Amphetamine / dextroamphetamine for ADHD "I have been on everything from Concerta to Wellbutrin to Vyvanse. Next to Vyvanse, Adderall XR has been the most helpful. If I take it any later than noon, I will absolutely have insomnia. I also have to be careful about the foods I eat and especially try to avoid my multi-vitamin in the morning (because of the citric acid). It doesn't decrease my appetite, sometimes I feel like it increases it, but it prevents me from binge-eating. I take 20 mg Adderall XR with 25 mg of Zoloft and, though it helps with my OCD tendencies that Adderall is likely to cause, I don't think the combination works as well as Adderall XR by itself. I will also occasionally have heart palpitations, but that's usually a sign that I need to limit my coffee intake!"

Amphetamine / dextroamphetamine for ADHD "It's helping with talking too much, binge eating, organization, memory, motivation, prioritizing tasks, memory, breaking hyper-focus, listening, conveying thoughts, studying, homeschooling my preschooler, staying awake all day, sleeping all night, and my organization is creating more structure for my kids. I have everything ready before they wake, so we're not fighting before school. The best part is I'm feeling more energy, so I'm walking the dog, actually wanting to play with my kids outside, and my libido came back! lol Unfortunately, it didn't take away my anxiety and irritability as much as Vyvanse did. Only side effects I've noticed: I need to up my fiber intake, and I have dry mouth (water bottle in purse, gum, and a fluoride mouthwash to keep my teeth healthy - these things seem to work great). The first 2 days at night, I felt so cold, it took me a while to fall asleep, and I couldn't stop scratching my scalp - so weird! Other than that, it's working great!"

Amphetamine / dextroamphetamine for ADHD "I have been on Adderall for several years now and can't say enough good things about the medicine. It helps me to focus on tasks, and now that I am in college, it has really helped with my studies. It took me a while to come to the realization that I needed something to help with my ADD, and I am glad I was prescribed Adderall. The side effects for me have been loss of appetite. I would have insomnia, but I take anti-anxiety medicine before going to bed to counteract the medication. My short and unscientific philosophy on Adderall is that it bridges the gap between wanting to do something and actually doing something."

Amphetamine / dextroamphetamine for Narcolepsy "I have always been tired a lot (chronic fatigue), but symptoms worsened after my son had a near-death auto accident, he was only 4. I took antidepressants for 8 years. It worsened my chronic fatigue. I was a mess, everything was falling apart around me. I did research on Adderall and talked to my doctor. I take 40 mg a day, I can't explain how much better I feel. I have control of my life again. I have energy to care for my family for the first time in years. Side effects are irritability at night and insomnia, but the longer you are on it and the earlier you take it, it doesn't cause too many problems sleeping."

Amphetamine / dextroamphetamine for ADHD "I started taking Adderall when I was 26 y/o, and it was AMAZING for about 2 years. My dose started out at 30 mg/day in the beginning, and after 2 years was up to 60 mg/day (30 mg IR twice daily). I started getting increasingly paranoid, losing what seemed like more and more sleep with each passing month. I kept thinking that I was seeing red and blue lights on my walls at night, which made me think the cops were after me outside, even though I didn't do anything that would require police assistance. Until one day when I lost my mind, literally. I was taken by ambulance to the hospital and put on a 72-hour psychiatric hold, for which I ended up staying at the hospital almost 2 weeks. Diagnosed with amphetamine-induced schizoaffective disorder!!!"

Amphetamine / dextroamphetamine for ADHD "My 10-year-old son has taken Adderall XR for about 3 years now. This medication is amazing! Twenty years ago, my oldest son was diagnosed with ADHD, and I refused to medicate him because all of the children I knew that were medicated were 'zombies.' This time, when I had a child with ADHD, I decided it was not fair to not medicate him and am so glad I did. With Adderall, he is alert and well-behaved (for the most part). He says he can focus instead of daydreaming all the time. Insomnia and loss of appetite are the only problematic side effects we have, but they have been easily remedied with Pediasure and melatonin. I take him off medicines two weekends per month to be sure he's not getting dependent and he goes right back to his normal ADHD self."

Amphetamine / dextroamphetamine for ADHD "My focus and energy increased immensely. I did a 4 to 6-page research final paper in 3 days. I finally can focus on tasks and not spend hours and hours on one task because I dozed off and daydreamed. I also did a 13-page AP English paper within 9 days. I'm glad I decided to take Adderall XR at the end of high school, and now I will be taking it while I'm in college. Is it a cognitive enhancer, which is said a lot? ABSOLUTELY NOT. It doesn't make you smarter, it doesn't improve your thinking, and it doesn't improve your memory. It just does what it's supposed to do and helps you focus. The bad thing is that it is hard to sleep."

Amphetamine / dextroamphetamine for ADHD "I am in my 30s and have been taking Adderall XR for three months. Seriously, what a difference I have seen in my life! My mind is 100% more clear, and I am so much more levelheaded and organized. I wish I had gone to the doctor years ago for my ADHD instead of just living with it. Now, I am so happy to have the ability to control my thoughts and accomplish my goals. I occasionally get insomnia, but I have had insomnia for most of my life. I also have lost weight and didn't have much to lose, so I have to start eating even if I'm not hungry. No other side effects for me."

Amphetamine / dextroamphetamine for ADHD "Adderall XR does exactly what it's supposed to for me. I suffer from very little noticeable side effects. The most noticeable ones are insomnia when first taking this medication, lack of hunger in the beginning, and slight dry mouth. Overall, the side effects are not bad at all. The only negative for me is it feels like the medication stops working after 6 hours for me."

Amphetamine / dextroamphetamine for ADHD "I received Mydayis 25 mg 2.5 months ago for severe combined type ADHD (also started Lamictal at that time). After taking the 25 mg dose for 2 months, I was not impressed. Mydayis seemed to work OK when beginning Lamictal, but the effects declined as the Lamictal titration from 25 mg to 200 mg maintenance dose. The benefit of Mydayis was increased alertness on the morning commute to work and a general calming. My focus and concentration remained impaired. The Dr bumped Mydayis to 37.5 mg and feel calmer and less impulsive, and alertness is increased to the point of insomnia. No relief of concentration or problems forgetting things, losing items, etc. In fact, I feel quite depressed and drugged."

Amphetamine / dextroamphetamine for ADHD "Diagnosed 3 years ago, participated in Strattera study, did not help at all. Finally started Adderall 20 mg XR two days ago. Main difference is the absence of fatigue and a quieted mind. I can actually sit and not have to argue with myself, overwhelming feelings gone for the most part. Insomnia straight away first night, hardly any sleep again last (2nd) night, underlying headache now. Definite loss of appetite, appreciate the lost lbs but still have to eat!"

For ADHD "ALVOGEN INC has got me all messed up. I've taken ADHD meds since 1st grade, and I'm 32 now, so I'm very confident in my ability to distinguish between generics that work and don't and why. For the past 4 years, I've used the same CVS location to fill my Adderall tab, 30 mg generic. The past two times, though, I received a pill that looked different. Thinking, okay, whatever, this happens from time to time, it is just a different manufacturer, no big deal. I was wrong. I have had insanely high blood pressure increases, trouble sleeping, hardly any focus, SEVERE anxiety, like where I feel like I can't breathe suddenly, especially when I try to sleep, shaky hands, VERY noticeable heart palpitations, diarrhea, headaches, and weird emotional ups and downs. I've been vegan for 3 months now. At first, I was seeing a steady decrease in blood pressure, but as soon as I started taking this new generic, I'm topping out at 161/111 at the doctor a few days ago, which is just absolutely bonkers and terrifying."

Amphetamine / dextroamphetamine for ADHD "I am 22 years old and never was a bad student throughout school but was always very unfocused when it came to reading comprehension and listening to lectures. I now work for a general physician and she seemed to notice my frustration with not being able to get anything done when there was a lot to do. I would get very aggravated easily and had very bad mood swings. My doctor prescribed me Adderall XR and I was very hesitant to take it. When I started taking it, I felt like I was much calmer, was able to do my job. It's really great, me and my husband get along now because I'm not so uptight. It does give me dry mouth and insomnia, but I can deal with the no appetite. Overall, I think it is great!"

Amphetamine / dextroamphetamine for ADHD "I’m a 21-year-old female. Adderall helped me focus, be on time, stay organized. However, as time passed, I noticed the negative impact. I had weight loss, irritability, my anxiety was worse, dry skin, dry mouth, and was not feeling like myself. I developed insomnia too. This was only on 20 mg a day. I took it as prescribed. The worst part was when I tried to quit taking it after I was switched to Vyvanse, which I felt even worse on. I ended up in the hospital having a panic attack the first time I tried to stop taking it. The second time I tried to quit, I had even more withdrawal symptoms: paranoia, panic attacks, vomiting. Stimulants are not worth it."

For ADHD "The E 111 blue Adderall pill from Sandoz Pharmaceuticals Inc. is a JOKE. I have been taking Adderall for over 10 years, and after taking just one 10 mg pill of theirs, I noticed something was off. It felt like I had taken a sleeping pill. It's so frustrating that these manufacturers just don't care. Try to make sure your Dr. notes on the prescription to NOT sell the Sandoz version. I have 30 of these worthless pills to go through before I can get a new prescription. I was amazed at how many reviews say the same thing, so I know I'm not crazy."

Amphetamine / dextroamphetamine for ADHD "I started on Adderall XR 20 mg and noticed improvements the first day, eventually finding the right dose being 30 mg of Adderall XR and one 20 mg Adderall IR. Adderall XR has some side effects, but overall, if your ADHD is bad enough, it’s easily worth the few inconveniences that may occur, such as dry mouth, stomach ache, joint aches, migraine, some paranoia, and sleep issues. Granted, the only ones I have that are consistent are dry mouth and sometimes a slight stomach ache that goes away after 20 minutes. I highly recommend this drug as it really has improved my life and made me able to get through college and work. I don’t have health insurance, and for a month's supply of 30 mg XR, it’s around $50, and I pay $40 for the month of 20 mg IR. Keep in mind that medication at the end of the day will affect everyone differently, so make sure and do YOUR research on medications that are recommended to you and make sure you’re comfortable with the potential side effects. Be safe!"

Amphetamine / dextroamphetamine for ADHD "Adderall seemed to really help me at first. After about six months, though, I ran into problems. I started to feel nervous, had sleeping issues, loose stool, sweaty pits, and ultimately gained a dependency where I craved for me to always be on it and feared the comedown. The final straw was when I fell into my seasonal depression, and it made it worse. I started to feel like an emotionless robot and knew I had to leave it. Overall, the negative side effects far outweighed the positive ones. I'll also note it has been several months since my last dose, and I still don't feel completely like myself. Sometimes, it is harder for me to get up and going than it has ever been, and my seasonal depression didn't end in March like usual, this is the first sunny June I've been depressed like this. I suggest other alternatives to your ADHD, this drug is toxic, very addictive, and can change you. I never felt right taking it, I'll do anything else to combat my ADHD after experiencing it long-term."

Amphetamine / dextroamphetamine for ADHD "I was prescribed Vyvanse chewable 30 mg in the AM and 30 at noon. I loved it, but had a month where I didn't take it regularly at noon. Dr. suggested this because of the extended release. Two weeks in: my sleep is concerning. I haven't hit REM in three days now. I have no appetite, even in the AM before I take the Mydayis. I have to force-feed myself, even ice cream is a struggle after the third bite. The two to three hours after I take it, I feel lost, can't track conversations, no/minimal recall, I can't even prioritize. After those hours, things level out a bit, but I don't have the motivation I had with Vyvanse. I believe there is a link between loss of quality sleep and struggling to meet my dietary requirements and how the drug affects me."

Amphetamine / dextroamphetamine for ADHD "I am prescribed Adderall XRs. I am only on 30 mg once a day, and my Dr won't increase it. The medication definitely makes me motivated, have energy, and feel a nice sense of well-being. I am concerned with a few side effects I get almost every time. I get numb on the left side of my neck and in my shoulder. I also get really cold feet, and my toes look purple with very slow capillary refill. I also already had a sleep problem before all this, so my nights are always pretty restless."

Amphetamine / dextroamphetamine for ADHD "Right now I take 50 mg Lamictal for my Bipolar and 7.5 mg twice a day Adderall for ADHD. At first, I wasn't sure Adderall was going to work for me, I was initially prescribed 20 mg twice a day. That dose ended up being way too high for me. It made me become manic, and I felt really wired all the time. I now take 7.5 mg twice a day and have found it to be much better. I feel alert and focused throughout the day. Some of the side effects I have had are weight loss, jaw clenching, and mild insomnia (I usually just take melatonin). Overall, Adderall has helped me a lot, I just had to find the right dosage."

For ADHD "I've been on ADHD medications for about ten years, and I tried a variety of medications to find the best fit for my condition. I eventually ended up on Mallinckrodt dextroamphetamine generic, and my ADHD was well controlled for many years, until they stopped making the generic and Barr took over. I noticed adverse effects on my mood, trouble sleeping, my anxiety increased, and at times I felt depressed. I switched to the brand name Dexedrine, and I noticed a tremendous difference, and my ADHD has been well controlled for many years. The brand name works so much better for me than the Barr generic. Since then, Teva bought out Barr, and the medication has become even worse. As a physician, I can definitely attest that there are differences between brand name medications versus generic, and although generics can work for many people, that doesn't mean they can work for all. Unfortunately, the push towards taking generics has made getting brand name even more difficult and expensive."

Amphetamine / dextroamphetamine for Narcolepsy "Adderall has really helped me stay alert and concentrate, as I have chronic pain issues which leave me sleepy and unfocused. I have the energy to enjoy life again. I do have difficulty sleeping, and also since I do not take XR, I can 'crush' it if I forget my second dose. I have noticed it makes me most irritable and difficult to be around. This side effect seems to have waned over time, but I am still occasionally cranky when it wears off."
