For High Blood Pressure "I started to feel very tired after starting this medication. Weeks after taking 10 mg amlodipine, I started noticing an unusual smell to my urine and have since been diagnosed with a UTI. Bladder pain and a burning sensation when urinating. Stopped taking 3 days ago, and symptoms are slowly subsiding. This drug is not for me."

For High Blood Pressure "I'm sorry so many seem to have issues with this medication. It's helped me. My BP went down about 25%. There were/are some side effects I experienced. Some flushing in the first few hours first week I took it, now I get a little flushed an hour or so. A little anxiety the first few days, I'm fine with that now. Minor headaches first week, do not get them anymore. Had to pee a lot when I started taking them. I do seem more tired taking them, that has eased somewhat. Had some minor joint aches at first. I do get a little bit lightheaded, flighty, after taking them the first hour or two. Sounds like a lot of complaints, but most have gone away, and the rest do not last long and are not that intense. Positive: obviously lower BP, vision has improved, no more headaches, no more swelling. Only been taking it a month, any changes and I will update. Every day I could see my BP lowering a bit the first few weeks, now it's stable."

For High Blood Pressure "I've been dealing with blood pressure issues for 10 years. Finally, I had a crisis and was emergency taken to the hospital with a 230/134 blood pressure rating... Felt very dizzy, falling over. Stayed in the hospital for 8 hours. They prescribed me amlodipine 2.5 mg in the morning and 2.5 mg at night. Been taking it for 4 weeks now. Remarkably lower blood pressure. But felt extremely fatigued and tired for 3 weeks, some constipation. Terrible hissing/ringing in my ears and some weird dreams. Hopefully, that will come to an end soon. Also add migraines 5 days a week. 4 weeks now, not one headache. Never have had any swelling in my feet or ankles, which they say is one of the more common side effects, so that is all good. Do feel a little lightheaded every now and then walking around. But it has definitely lowered my blood pressure significantly."

For Angina "My doctor prescribed this medication for chest pain, which we have concluded is most likely from coronary spasm. I do not have CAD, but coronary spasm and angina. I also take a beta blocker for abnormal heart rhythm and blood thinners. I was going to the hospital almost weekly with chest pain. This medication has changed my life. I have been taking Amlodipine for about 8 weeks now, and I’ve only had one episode of chest pain. That is a 97% improvement. I haven’t noticed any side effects other than a slight increase in heart rate and possibly fatigue and tiredness. I started at 2.5 mg and just increased to 5 mg. I also have liver disease. Also, it is cheap and readily available. Not many interactions."

Amlodipine for High Blood Pressure "I have been on amlodipine 5 mg for 2 weeks. I have not gone to work. Feeling extreme tiredness, insomnia, palpitations, neck muscles ache, can't really function. I thought I was alone until I read all the comments. Thank you for this opportunity. I will see my doctor to get me off this since it cannot get better. Am so happy to read the reviews and know that I am not alone. Thanks."

For High Blood Pressure "I started to take this medication for high blood pressure. For the first couple of months, I seemed to be okay, but the last few weeks, blood pressure is a bit up and down but has come down a bit, but feeling much worse. I have decided to come off them today as I am constantly tired, hardly have any energy, and have aching joints, stomach upset, and tummy ache. Going off foods and feeling sick."

For Heart Failure "I have been taking this drug for at least a year, high blood pressure, although I am taking several other drugs due to heart failure (taking Warfarin) and arrhythmia problems. I also have asthma. I have not had my blood pressure checked since the time I was given Amlodipine. Doctors are not doctors anymore, I’m afraid, we are just statistics... and at the age of 78, I feel I am expendable... I have all the symptoms others have mentioned for a long time: can’t walk straight, dizzy all the time. My ears are blocked and ringing, I am breathless for the most part, meaning I can't do tasks. I am completely lethargic, I can sleep anytime, and I do not want to get up from my bed. My legs have gone hard, swollen ankles, dry skin, tongue hurts all the time. I want to stop taking all these meds but can’t stop all of them, but I had wondered if I could stop the Amlodipine at least.. makes me feel is it worth being here living this way."

For High Blood Pressure "Doesn't really help lower BP for me. After a week of taking it, I'm starting to experience weak limbs and tiredness, just like I did with Procartia. Procartia caused major swelling of ankles but improved after lowering my dose. Now my ankles and feet are getting more swollen with this medication again. Also experiencing gut issues. Also, I think this is affecting my breathing like Procartia does. Modern medicine has failed me again."

For High Blood Pressure "2.5 mg dose helped blood pressure decently (130/70 from 150/70) when at home chilling. Not sure if it would have that effect at work under stress. Also on 80 Edarbi. However, I am feeling very, very tired, and my mind is one big fog that I noticed so clearly in meditation how unclear my mind is. I have to get off. I trust my cardio, who says he has seen little or no reported side effects on such a low dose, but not for me. Interestingly, many migraine sufferers find relief, so the effect on arterial dilation and other blood vessels must be good."

For High Blood Pressure "I have not read much about this problem with the drug, but ED (erectile dysfunction) was mine. It works great in lowering your BP, but you are fatigued and tired to boot. Cannot get an erection now, so I am off this stuff. Run away from this if you want to continue to have a sex life."

For High Blood Pressure "Female, 50. Firstly, I took (10 mg) for high blood pressure. It was prescribed supplementary to my primary BP pill, Losartan, which I stopped years ago due to coughing. After 1 year of taking Amlodipine, I too began to suffer from feet, ankle, and slight calf swelling. By evening, my feet looked and felt like balloons. Other side effects ranged from being eyelid heavy and tired, no matter how much I slept. Weird dreams, severe anxiety, feelings of rage/depression, eye pain, strong urine, brain fog, blurry vision, gas, itchy skin. I weaned myself off of it 3 weeks ago. The first thing that I noticed changed overnight was my energy level. I bounced out of bed the next day. My feet no longer swell, and my ankles have reduced 97%. My right calf only slightly starts to feel tight if I sit too long without moving. I decided to monitor my BP for now, and diet, exercise, and supplement. I don't want to go back, but if I do, I'll trial the lowest dose possible (2.5) and stop if same side effects."

For High Blood Pressure "Was on quite a few meds to cover two ailments, of which one was high blood pressure. For the latter, it was a combination of candesartan and amlodipine, the latter was a late addition. Wasn't feeling so good with these: usual tiredness and, for me, feeling I had heavy legs, though no swelling to ankles was visible. Came off both due to another illness to give my body a rest from meds. Felt a huge improvement. Not tired, not had heavy legs, and I could breathe much more easily and didn't feel out of breath. I ditched candesartan completely and, after one month, the doctor substituted amlodipine for losartan. My tiredness and heavy legs returned. My blood pressure was between 140 and 160. Good for me, but not so good on health grounds as clearly too high. Not sure if I want to stay on losartan, but I'm willing to take it before bedtime to help with sleep."

For Raynaud's Syndrome "Amlodipine does not work for Raynaud's! Been on for 2 months, still having flares every time I go outside or get a chill as usual. Only difference is now I'm swollen all over, my heart races, and I feel exhausted. Maybe if you have high blood pressure already and are using this as a dual drug...maybe. For me...going off of this now!"
