"I began to have severe muscular and skeletal pain but thought it was arthritis. After use, it became more pronounced. Both hips hurt, my legs cramped and tingled, and I would have diarrhea 2/3 times a week. Finally, I quit taking the drug and still have the same symptoms 4 months later. Fatigue and weakness in both legs still are present, as well as pain in both arms. I don't know how long this will continue, but I hope that it goes away soon. Never had this problem before."

"I am three shots in or 5 weeks. Progressive muscle and joint pain. Muscle cramps. Rapid heartbeat and palpitations. Brain fog. Burning eyes. Dry nose. Stuffy nose. Hoarse voice. Horrible GERD for several days post-injection. No more for me. This stuff is horrible."

"I started Praluent about a year ago... loved the results, LDL from 135 to 69, just awesome. I first noticed a tightness in my chest and diaphragm, as I continued to take it, I noticed increased difficulty in breathing deeply and freely. There was the loss of stamina and increased fatigue. I used up my supply of Praluent 5 weeks ago... restricted breaths stopped about 2 weeks ago. SCARED about going back on Praluent with coronavirus approaching. I'm 69 years old, that battle will be hard enough... Restart Praluent... YES or NO? I JUST DON'T KNOW!"

"Took one dose of Praluent @ 3:00 PM and had a massive flush of symptoms throughout my whole body 15 minutes later. At the ER at 4:00, given a steroid shot, Benadryl shot, and finally epinephrine to stop the reaction 4 hours later. This is toxic and poison! It should be taken off the market."

"Have genetic high cholesterol plus cardiovascular risk. Taking statins caused myopathy, resulting in terrible muscle aches and pains. I have been on Praluent 75 mg twice monthly for approximately 2 years. I am a very active, soon-to-be 70 years old, however, after sitting at least 10 minutes, it is unbearable to raise my body and start walking, as my body is very stiff. Hard to get my feet to move...I ache from my lower back down to my feet...my insides feel very sore, and I have developed terrible nose sores! I am afraid if I take it much longer, I will be unable to walk. I was hoping that the Praluent was safe for me, and in the beginning of using Praluent, I was pleased with the thought of it lowering my cholesterol and having no side effects. Not sure what to do now!"

"I’ve taken Praluent for over one year. I can’t identify any side effects. I’m unable to take statins because of pain, muscle weakness, and hair loss. I’m only on Zetia and Praluent. The combination has brought my cholesterol to the level that my cardiologist is happy with. My question is... I have noticed a marked increase in ankle, foot, and leg swelling. It’s not caused by clots. Has anyone noticed the same symptoms while taking this drug."

"I cannot tolerate statins, so my cardiologist suggested Praluent 75 mg every two weeks. After the first injection, I began to have a burning sensation and irritation on my lips and in my mouth. This progressed to itching on my body, followed by a burning skin sensation on my arms and legs as well. I also have muscle and joint pain and aching, as well as dizziness. Both the doctor and pharmacist said to stop it because it seems to be an allergic reaction. I can't comment on effectiveness because I only took one dose. Symptoms are persisting after two weeks, and I hope they end soon. I am sensitive to many drugs but was hoping I could tolerate this, so I am disappointed. My cholesterol is not that high, usually, LDL is around 100 or slightly less with no medication. So I will continue to watch my diet carefully and hope for the best."

"I have been on Praulent for one month and love the results. My LDL is down to 36! I have no side effects except a runny nose. My problem is that it is very difficult to press the injector. I need my husband to press it with all his might. Does anyone have that problem?"

"I have been taking Praluent injections for 2 years. I started with 75 mg for one year and a half. Every other week. Then the doctor increased it six months ago to 150 mg. Every other week. I have had hair loss for two years, and bald spots on my scalp. I am a licensed cosmetologist for 40 years and I know what alopecia is. They keep telling me it’s not the Praluent. I do feel it is and I’ve had a lot of stomach distress. How do I decipher if this is causing my hair loss when the doctor's office says it's not?"

"I have been on this drug for almost 5 years. While it dramatically lowered my cholesterol from 488 down to 200. I have now developed numbness in my feet and hands that is causing problems with walking and writing. I am constantly dizzy which does not help with negotiating stairs or hills. Now the doctors are saying that I could possibly have bone cancer which is why my hands and feet are numb. The problem I have with the theory is that my dad has been on Praluent for 2 years and his feet are now numb. This medicine has horrible side effects."

"I have been taking Praluent since last week of December, 2015. It is a great medicine in lowering LDL very very significantly from 123 to 29 and total cholesterol from 200 to 88 . My HDL increased significantly from 23 to 37-42. Only side effect I have is some pain in my body possibly in the bones?? All enzymes and metabolic parameters are normal."

Very please except I started to have muscle cramps everywhere in my arms, back, shoulder and abdomen. Right now the cramps are not bothering me much and hoping that they will go away."

"I had two stents placed in my LAD artery, then had a heart attack while in recovery and finally stabilized with a third. I have been on Praluent for about 5 months and my LDL cholesterol was reduced to one (1), yes, one. I have no side effects that I know of. My insurance plan, Aetna, is taking it off their formulary in January and I will have to switch to the competitor. I hope the price does not go up."

"I had mildly elevated LDL with a diagnosis of CAD and didn't like the side effects of Lipitor and Crestor. Long history of mild to moderate depression. Two weeks after first injection, depression seemed worse. After 2nd injection depression was worsening moderately. After the third injection depression was becoming severe. LDL lowered from 85 to 58, but the increasing misery that I attributed to Praluent didn't seem to be worth continuing the drug. No other side effects that I remember. Started returning closer to baseline feeling within a few weeks and decided to try to eat more fiber at breakfast and no eggs to keep LDL on the lower side."

"I've been on Praluent for a month now with few side effects. I have noticed that I seem to be having more erections than before, but I didn't have a problem. Other than more erections, the other side effect is more intestinal gas, or flatulence. Rather toxic smelling!"

"I’m being prescribed Alirocumab by an NHS doctor, at no financial cost other than UK tax and National Insurance. This drug may have added years to my lifespan. I’ve had 3 myocardial infarctions, a subarachnoid haemorrhage, brain surgery, 3 stents and a double coronary artery bypass graft (over just 16 years, starting aged 42). Statins weren’t working for me, and at my last NHS blood tests my total cholesterol was 6.8 (HDL 1.1, LDL 5, Triglycerides 1.63). The same level three years ago preceded a heart attack. After 4 subcutaneous injections of 75mg my total cholesterol is 2.7 (HDL 1, LDL 1.5, triglycerides 1). (In case you check my arithmetic, 20% of the total for triglycerides is used to calculate total cholesterol). I experienced slight common cold symptoms for around 24 hours after my first three injections, no other adverse effects were noticeable. In general I feel physically better, a little more physical stamina and I’ve started cycling again."

"I was taking 40mg Crestor and other drugs after having 3 stents put in my heart arteries. My historical total cholesterol has been a max of 212 with it between 170 and 181 the last few years before taking Crestor. LDL had been max of 143 and 109-96 before Crestor. Crestor was given to push total and LDL cholesterol down as much as possible. After starting Crestor total cholesterol was 104 and LDL was 35. Had a bad reaction to Crestor (elevated liver enzymes ALT and AST) and switched to Praluent 6 months ago. So far it's working fine. Latest total cholesterol was 106 and LDL was 41. ALT and AST back to normal levels. Important thing is that about 11 weeks after stopping Crestor I noticed my mental abilities were noticeably clearer. Kind of a weird thing to notice because I wasn't looking for it but it's definitely there. So far my experience with Praluent has been very good. No noticeable side effects of any kind. No more elevated AST and ALT. No more foot cramps."

"My two-year check proved to be excellent while on Praluent. I have arthritis, so my joint pain could be from that. The pen is not comfortable to use, it takes a while to learn an easy way to use. Presently, Medicare has stopped covering this on my plan, so I have paid out of pocket. I don’t think I can continue to do so for the rest of my life, which means I will have to be given a different medicine that may not work as well for me."

"Since I have been using this drug I am now suffering from the same side affects when I took an oral statin. Constant severe dull ache in my legs. It may also be affecting my hands in the same way, but this drug alone is currently inconclusive since I have only recently been using it. However, I am constantly cold even though we have quite hot weather. I feel dreadful similar to when I had Covid."
