"Tylenol 3 was given to me to try for back pain. I might as well have been given candy pills, it did not work at all for pain. If you take anything with codeine, make sure you eat first. All it did for me was make me sleepy and sick. I now take Tramadol for pain, it works great."

"Dr. prescribed generic brand Tylenol #4 for arthritis, knee, back pain. I had been in pain at a level of 8-10. I was sent for pain management, no help. Dr. prescribed the acetaminophen with codeine 3 times a day and so for the last 5 years, pain at a level of 3-4. For me, it works. It has a very low addiction rate. 'Codeine is a weak opioid, about 10% is metabolized to morphine. Still, potential for abuse-addiction.' That depends on the individual. Long-term use can cause issues, patients should be tested and followed by Dr. I moved from Birmingham to Mobile, Ala. The Mobile Dr. was terrified, said he would not risk losing his license. This is a Schedule III drug. Does not cause the majority of users to become addicted to it. This Dr. was unwilling to help or discuss it, said to take OTC pain remedy. Checked with med. ins. co., pharmacy, it's approved, can be prescribed by Dr. with refills."

Acetaminophen / codeine "It doesn't work for the pain. It's hard to get out of bed and walk back and forth to work. Doctors need to get with the program. They see what's going on and know the pain is severe, so do something about the pain so people can be active and able to work."

Acetaminophen / codeine "On Tylenol with Codeine #3 for arthritis and sciatica, and I get great pain control. Use as required. Usually two tablets 2x a day. Before bed works great. Causes constipation now. Drink lots of water."

Acetaminophen / codeine "Took literally 45 minutes to kick in when I have severe, debilitating rheumatoid arthritis and I had a bad fall. Went to ER, gave me this while I went in for x-ray, still no relief. Finally, 45 minutes, I can feel my pain slightly go away."

Acetaminophen / codeine "Have been taking T3 or T4 for post-surgery pain. Have discovered that as long as I take either one, my pain persists, but once I stop, my pain goes away! Also found that NSAIDs increase the pain (had basal joint replacements in both thumbs). But I do have to say that both Ts are effective for my hip bursitis; just not worth the thumb pain when I take it. Hoping the MD can give me something for my hip that won't impact my thumbs..."

"I need to get a wisdom tooth removed and have been taking up to 3,200 mg of ibuprofen daily for a month and a half. I explained to my dentist my concerns about taking so much ibuprofen, so he prescribed me Tylenol 3. I've never taken any sort of high-end painkillers, so I don't have any tolerance. I continued taking ibuprofen despite the fact my dentist prescribed the T3s until today when the ibuprofen wouldn't even touch the pain. It kicked in pretty quickly, but all it did was erase the pain for twenty minutes and made me feel high, which I hated. Had to pop another ibuprofen once the pain instantly came back. Thought it would work better than this."

"I took T3 after having surgery. It definitely took the pain away. It also caused confusion. I couldn't remember if I took the pills that day or not. I'd have to recount the pills to make sure I didn't mess up my dose. I could not understand what people were saying to me. I had to read their lips. I couldn't feel pain. I laughed hysterically when I tore out my stitches, had to be carried back to bed because I couldn't move. I felt paranoid. Like something bad was going to happen. It is not something I enjoy taking. I didn't even finish the prescription. It was too intense for me."

Acetaminophen / codeine "Tylenol with Codeine #3 is great for pain after 6 teeth were extracted to make room for my dentures, lol. The only negative was I had incredibly irritating stomach cramps that lasted a few hours afterward, otherwise, it worked great for me."

"I've been taking this medicine for over 2 years. CVS Pharmacy switched manufacturers. I got this pill 110 IP, had to take it for 30 days, so I finally told my doctor I couldn't do it anymore. I almost did not eat anything the whole month. This pill was a stimulant, had five other ingredients that I had never taken before. Next time they tried to fill it, I rejected it, and I did not get my money back. Stay away from this medicine."

Acetaminophen / codeine "I got a 4x wisdom tooth extraction and frenectomy (tongue tie cut), and not only was the procedure performed with only local anesthetic, which started to wear off 15 minutes after I walked out the door, but the T3s I was prescribed did practically nothing alone. My roommate suggested I take some ibuprofen as well, and the combination of the two has worked pretty well. I'm still pretty sore, but I'm able to function. Overall, I'm pretty annoyed at how limited it is as a form of pain management, but since a major function is to reduce swelling, I'm willing to give it a bit of a pass. Also, it was hard to swallow and tasted like rubbish since it was a pressed tablet that sticks to your tongue and roof of mouth, especially with a swollen and sore mouth."

Acetaminophen / codeine "It makes you feel woozy for, like, 10 minutes, almost like a high feeling, and then all the pain comes back. It doesn't work at all. Also, it makes my whole body sore, and it says to take this every 4 hours. That's ridiculous. I would've much preferred Ibuprofen 800 mg, you take it every 8 hours, and it really lasts the whole time."

Acetaminophen / codeine "I went to urgent care for a severe toothache, and they gave me 300 mg Tylenol / 30 codeine phosphate mg, and I went home and took one. Twenty minutes later, I started itching, so I called the clinic this morning. Also, I can’t take NSAIDs due to reflux. This is scary medicine, and I tried to get a different one and couldn’t because it is a controlled substance. I told them I would drop the bottle off, and they said no."

"The entire province is out of the painkiller I have been using. I cannot even complete the prescription. Estimated time of return, March 2025. I am in agony. It's almost as bad as an anal fissure. I've had so many tests done. Nothing found yet. Another specialist in October! I'm out of the overpriced painkillers. Any NSAID hurts, acetaminophen by itself, 1000 mg, no relief. I called all the drugstores. My Dr. is sick and can't help me! I'm bedridden! Only one store carries codeine 8 mg with 300 acetaminophen and 15 mg caffeine. I drove across the city. Signed the papers. I took 32 mg codeine, 1200 mg acetaminophen, 60 mg caffeine. I took it once before when I had my wisdom teeth removed. T3s, two every 4-6. They worked well, it still hurt, but I am in a lot of pain. The wait time is months. These work better than all the other things I've been given, less expensive too. I have to ration them for a month. I can only take 3 a day."

"I had all 4 wisdom teeth removed years and years ago. I was prescribed T3's, two every 4-6 hours. I'm not sure why everyone is having such trouble. It was a month of pain. Dental pain. Rinsing the holes, ouch! Phew! For the 1st week, I took 60 mg every 4 hours. The second week was about the same. It hurt, but I could eat food. The 3rd week, I moved down to 30 mg every 4 hours, sometimes 60 if I was in pain. The last week of the month, I used 30 mg every 6 hours. Without it, I can't imagine the pain. It made it manageable. Thankfully, the Dr. gave me plenty for the month. I could have taken two every 6 hours for a month. I didn't need to. They don't cut the pain away completely, but if they did, I would not be coherent."

"Dr. came back. I had 2 referrals saying 'Codeine may benefit.' But the Drs. who wrote them were GI specialists and said I must go to my GP. After she left me for over a month without any painkillers, she went through the same list of drugs I already told her I have used. None of them are as effective as the little T1. Other things cost a fortune, and I can't buy them if I wanted to. I am now managing my bowel pain with 100, 8 mg codeine, 300 mg acetaminophen, and 15 mg caffeine. They're cheaper. More effective. I am taking such a low dose. There are never enough for a month, I can only take them when in serious pain. I stopped for 3 weeks. No problem. No more Drs. appts. No more tests. Nothing. Every month I have to buy another bottle to last 10-14 days. The other Drs. aren't concerned. They've been watching the whole time. I spent a year getting tested. Now, I am taking simple T1s, covering the problem. My room is messy. I laid in bed all summer. I lost 10 lbs in a week. Now I eat."

Acetaminophen / codeine "I had all four of my wisdom teeth removed yesterday morning, and it’s been incredibly painful. The swelling is terrible, and I can’t close my mouth, let alone move it at all. I was prescribed T-3, and it’s doing nothing for me. It takes more than an hour to “kick in” whatsoever, and then wears off within another hour or 2 (and I’m taking the max dosage, which is 2 tablets every 4 hours). This is awful."

Acetaminophen / codeine "Worked very well for me when combined with gabapentin 300 mg three times a day for bad tooth pain. I had a 5 out of 10 pain including a badly bruised ankle from a work injury. I feel the bad reviews are from people who took generics or are in very bad pain and their doctors won't give the right meds."

Acetaminophen / codeine "This pill does 100 percent absolutely nothing. For the people who are saying it works, I'm convinced it’s just a placebo for you guys because it really does nothing, like at all, no effect or anything. It does nothing, I promise you. Ibuprofen works like 14 times better."

Acetaminophen / codeine "Stopped taking all pain meds due to horrible itching and sweating in April 2024, despite pain levels reaching 8 or 9. Can’t stand the itching due to mast cell release of histamine. Had two teeth pulled in November, and the surgeon gave me acetaminophen-codeine. What a lifesaver. Controlled my tooth pain, yes, but also took my back pain to a reasonable level. Went back to pain management and asked for Tylenol 3’s. The doctor okayed it, and I’m back down in the 3-4 pain range with NO itching. Hallelujah! This medication is just what the doctor ordered (pun intended)!"

Acetaminophen / codeine "I was just prescribed this for a tooth extraction. It has barely done anything, if at all, to ease any of my pain. Generic ibuprofen has worked better. I took my prescription pill at 9 pm, and it's almost midnight and hasn't 'kicked in' yet. So I've got to wait a bit to take ibuprofen. The pills I was prescribed don't show a mg, and the dentist's office told me that's the strongest they give! I am now wondering if the antibiotics they gave will even help!"

"Oh man, twice a day dosing for the pain I am in is very hard, if not impossible. I am taking 8 mg tablets with caffeine and acetaminophen. More like 3 times a day, it's 2 every 6 hours. I need to get in touch with my doctor, these are not going to last. They are quite restrictive with opiates sometimes. Hopefully, I can be prescribed any painkiller. I tried 1,000 mg of regular acetaminophen, it does nothing. Two to three of these are more effective with only 600 to 900 mg. Since I don't drink cola or coffee, 30 to 45 mg of caffeine is enough to keep me awake. At the low dose, I am taking 16 to 24 mg every 6 hours. I'm not constipated at all. I hope I can get an appointment as soon as possible. I need something to tide me over till October. I'm taking it for abdominal pain. I've had many tests."

Acetaminophen / codeine "I was prescribed this for abdominal pain after having a baby. Keep in mind I have a very high pain tolerance, but this helped me a lot. I was in a pretty good amount of pain, and although it didn't take away all the pain, I was able to get up and take care of my newborn and 3-year-old toddler. Also, I have been breastfeeding and sometimes my newborn vomits. I'm not sure if it's the medicine or that she has just been drinking too fast."

"I had pain on both sides of my mouth, probably 6 or 7. I went to the dentist, had my teeth cleaned, and was prescribed ibuprofen and penicillin until my appointment to have four teeth extracted. I went back after a month, and the pain was unbearable. The appointment was scheduled 2 months after my original visit. The second time with unbearable pain, I was prescribed Tylenol 3. It did absolutely nothing for my pain."
