Acetaminophen / codeine "Was prescribed this for dealing with pain after four of my wisdom teeth got extracted. All I can say is that the pain relief lasts very momentarily, and I still feel absolutely awful after. Tried doubling up, and that didn't help much either. Considering asking my doctor to put me on stronger medication because this stuff hasn't worked wonders at all. I'm not excited to see how the next few days will pan out if this medication is barely able to hold my pain back."

"Slammed by groin in a wreck on ten-speed bike. Testicles are swollen to the size of two tennis balls. Tylenol 3 hasn't helped at all with easing the throbbing pain in my nads. I may need a Tylenol super 300 for trauma of daballs. Thanks for listening, I am gonna get back into the tub and cry some more."

Acetaminophen / codeine "I had gotten this medication after herniating a disc in my lower back. I only got minimal pain relief after taking 1 pill and decided to take 2 at night as the prescription states '1 to 2 pills may be taken.' I ended up with moderate to severe upper stomach pain and slight chest discomfort. I also noticed that as I would fall asleep, I would wake up suddenly with a feeling of having to catch my breath. This lasted for hours. It did, however, only slightly relieve my pain, which is why I rated it 2 stars. I will not be taking this again."

Acetaminophen / codeine "I took this after my breast reduction surgery for lingering pain. I can say that aside from serious constipation, this works great. I'd describe its effect as 'doesn't really lower the pain level, but makes you not care that you're in pain.' I definitely didn't want to take too much of it -- the constipation sucks, and feeling that 'two drinks in' dizziness isn't exactly fun times -- but for what it was, it did the job."

Acetaminophen / codeine "Was prescribed Tylenol #3 after double tooth extractions. The pain was handled well. Dosage on the bottle was for every 6 hours, but was told again by the dentist that I could take it at 5-hour intervals if needed. Was only prescribed 14 pills for short-term use only. Served its purpose well. After 2 days, all that was left was soreness from the procedure, and that was handled with over-the-counter Aleve."

Acetaminophen / codeine "I have needed to get my four wisdom teeth pulled out for 2 years now. And just on this medication until surgery. My mandible, which is my lower jaw, and gums are very swollen and infected, not so much pain in my upper areas in my mouth. My dentist prescribed me Tylenol #3 with codeine and antibiotics. Tylenol #3 is a joke, it does not help with my pain at all, it just makes me very drowsy. When I do rest, the pain is still severe."

Acetaminophen / codeine "Have infection in back molar tooth. Was prescribed Tylenol #3. Contrary to most experiences, the meds did wonders!!! Don't know if I could have lasted in that pain. I've done drugs before for recreation, so I know I have a tolerance, but meds still worked."

Acetaminophen / codeine "After gallbladder surgery, was prescribed this for at-home pain management (I can't take Vicodin), and while it definitely kicks in after about 30 minutes, it wears off way too fast. Halfway through my wait till the next dose, timeframe pain is in full swing again. Ugh."

Acetaminophen / codeine "Prescribed this Tylenol with Codeine #4 when I had chronic lower back pain from work (constant heavy lifting). Needed two to feel the effects and is useful to a degree, but I switched to APO Tramacet as I get better pain relief off one of those."

Acetaminophen / codeine "I was prescribed this medication after returning to work 3 weeks after a moderate ankle sprain. I am alternating 800 mg of Motrin and 1000 mg of Tylenol every 6 hours around the clock, so basically I am taking something every 3 hours and icing/elevating my ankle when pain meds are due. It has been 2 months since my injury and I am still in severe pain, I have had to modify my work schedule, and I basically sit around doing as little as possible to rest. I am on my feet at work for 12 hours at a time, in a walking boot, which is also causing me lower back and hip pain. After I come home from work, I take 2 Tylenol #3, and it does nothing. I do not take pain medicine often, but this is providing 0 pain relief and makes me very nauseated."

Acetaminophen / codeine "I was diagnosed with a missed miscarriage last week, but I had no external symptoms. I waited a week and still no bleeding. So my OB/GYN prescribed for me misoprostol (Cytotec), which induces contractions and therefore bleeding, etc. I was given Tylenol 3 to take to reduce the pain. I had excruciating pain from the contractions to the point that sometimes I could hardly move or talk. I took 400 Advil (Ibuprofen) and felt a little better. I know the Tylenol 3 had no effect on me because it didn't even make me sleepy, not even a bit. n.b. I don't drink, don't smoke, don't use drugs and therefore I don't believe I have tolerance to any narcotics. Regular Tylenol never works for my kind of pains anyway."

"Tylenol #3 or Tylenol with codeine is one of the most effective painkillers for me, however, just the original brand is effective, and generics, especially the one with the letter M on it, just don't work at all. If your doctor prescribes you this painkiller, just make sure it is either the brand name or, if it is generic, you must not get the one with the letter M on it. I have been using the brand name for more than 10 years, and any time that my insurance tried to replace it with its generic, if it was with the letter M on it, I had to prove to them that it is a fake medication. Any other type of generic, although it is not as good as the brand, is still okay as long as it does not have the letter M on it."

Acetaminophen / codeine "My two front teeth were progressively getting worse in pain from two nights ago when I had hit my teeth really hard. 7/10 pain scale last night/this morning - to the point where no toothache remedies were working anymore, including OTC pain medicine (which never worked from the start). Was prescribed Tylenol 3 this morning from the dentist as we wait to do a root canal on one tooth, the other tooth may just be bruised as it shows no sign of a root canal needed. It has been 2 hours, and the medicine has extremely barely done anything. Waiting on doc to approve better medication."

Acetaminophen / codeine "I am currently taking this medication for moderate pain reduction. I hurt my wrist by falling on concrete stairs. It does reduce the pain and works very well. The only downside is stomach upset, nausea, and extreme sleepiness. I do not have any kind of narcotic tolerance. This medicine is for minor to moderate relief of pain and should be used as such. This medicine, in my book, scores an 8 out of 10 points for managing moderate pain. Highly recommend."

Acetaminophen / codeine "I have 'loose shoulders,' and my doctor prescribed this to me. I am 14, and it feels kind of weird as it is my first pain medication other than ibuprofen. It works rather quickly and subsides some pain, but not all. Also makes me drowsy, so I only take it at night."

Acetaminophen / codeine "Post flat foot reconstruction. 14 wks. Post-surgery, I am still experiencing extreme, life-altering pain. Second day on this medication, showing no relief and must still put on my boot to help control the extreme pain. I have had a bout of hives, blisters, and rashes due to not being prescribed an effective nerve-blocking pain. My surgeon is allowing me to remain in brutal pain."

Acetaminophen / codeine "I got one impacted wisdom tooth out and another regular tooth out, and I must say it doesn't help at all. Regular Tylenol usually doesn't help at all either. This stuff is useless, I'm still in agonizing pain."

Acetaminophen / codeine "Post-abdominal hysterectomy with anterior and posterior repairs and bladder lift. I was prescribed Toradol 10 mg, scheduled every 6 hours, with Tylenol 3 every 4-6 hours as needed. As long as I don't go any longer than those minimum times, I do okay with about a 4 pain level. I haven't been pain-free yet, but I guess that's to be expected..... Tylenol 3 has worked okay, but does start to wear off towards the end of the 4 hours. I must wait.... It is a shame, though, that there is so much abuse of narcotic-strength drugs like Norco... they are extremely effective for post-surgical pain.... they are very addictive, and doctors don't even like prescribing them much anymore."

"I take this for severe joint pain. Like I can't walk at all because of the pain. I take two, sometimes three, codeine tablets (60 mg) or (90 mg) of codeine, and it works within an hour, making it okay to walk again. It does, however, make me feel very, very drowsy and lightheaded, and I'm not really with it at all, but it is wonderful for relieving the pain."

"This was the most awful experience with a drug I’ve ever taken. I was up for 24 hours because I could not fall asleep, nauseated, and having brutal anxiety/paranoia. This was prescribed after I had a painful surgery. I was relatively healthy considering I lost a massive amount of weight. Others had great experiences, but unfortunately it doesn’t work with me. A waste."

"This stuff acetaminophen with codeine does nothing. I'm waiting for surgery for pain in back and hip, and this is all I get? A few people misuse opioids, and the rest of us have to suffer. What is going to happen is more and more people will be taking their pain relief into their own hands. Good luck to you all."

"Fantastic! My doctor went from 'sick' to 'on vacation' without helping me. I called the chemist listed off the 6+ drugs I have tried: loperamide, simethicone, pramoxine, betaderm/clotrimaderm 1:1, amitriptyline, senekot, witch hazel, phenylephrine, and more. The only thing that relieved the pain completely was a tiny dose of fentanyl at the hospital during a scope. The drug stores ran out of pramoxine. I turned to the 8mg tablets. I told the chemist I was taking the smallest dose possible: 16mg-8mg-24mg daily. The caffeine sucks, it gives me jitters. Now I have to wait for my doctor to come back from vacation. Weeks after my prescription has been gone. In 2 weeks, they're going to keep saying: 'Addiction.' They will give me nothing, I'll go back to the worst area of the city to get T1's again. Everything in the past year has been very expensive and not helpful. The chemist said: 'No, you don't sound like a drug seeker.' I'm dying. It's IBS, cortisol, little sleep, anxiety. Help!"

"I thought it was just me; like maybe I somehow smoked too much marijuana, and my body started to reject the pain relief from T3. Seems like this is not the case, though, because these pills do absolutely nothing. Not sure if they're some type of placebo or something, but the infected cavity that I have currently sitting on my jaw nerve is supremely painful. When's the last time you saw a grown man cry? I've been taking these useless pills like candy, hoping that they eventually kick in, but these seemingly work slightly less better than Goody/BC powder."

Acetaminophen / codeine "I was quite sore from excessive coughing from an up-and-down bout with the flu. Took one Tylenol 3 tab as prescribed and was actually able to sit up and move around in bed with no pain. However, it did make me slightly dizzy with mild stomach upset. I would not take it when I have to be up and about. Took it at night anyway so I could rest. I can live with the side effects since it's nighttime and I'm in bed anyway."
