For Depression "I started at a 1/4 dose (2.5 mg) and couldn't make it past day 6. I didn't have the vomiting that others report, but it destroyed my appetite and then gave me diarrhea. Fastest 5 lbs I ever lost. But moreover, it felt like I'd taken a bad amphetamine. It made me INCREDIBLY anxious; heart racing; waking at 5 AM in a panic. I've taken SSRIs before-this was something more/different. There were a few glimmers around day 5 when I felt my mood was better (kind of like the kick you get from a cup of coffee), but the rest was unmanageable."

For Depression "Used it for three months. I started with 10 mg/day and then it was taken down to 5 mg because of vomiting and back up to 10 mg. Nausea every day, vomiting nearly every day, until I got Primperan for it. It felt at first that it was working on depression, took off the sadness, and my energy came back. But after a few weeks, I became anxious and irritated, and then came insomnia. Finally, I could not fall asleep without sleeping pills, and with them, I slept 2-3 hours and woke up and could not fall asleep again. My doctor suggested lifting the dose to 20 mg/day. I said NO. I could not take the nausea, vomiting, and sleeplessness any longer, especially when it did not even work on the depression anymore, not to mention the anxiety and loss of sex drive."

For Depression "Just a reminder for anyone taking the drug and reading these reviews, it takes at least a week or two before one can begin to feel the beneficial results. As for my personal experience; I'm one week on the drug, and I'm taking Ativan as well to treat MDD and anxiety disorders. Other than some rather uncomfortable nausea and a day or two of vomiting, this has been a very beneficial experience. No weight gain, libido is intact, and I feel clear; however, I strongly recommend you not do any heavy drinking while on this drug, and if you have a history of heartburn or stomach ulcers, then it might be a good idea to use additional medication to treat any stomach problems. All in all, it's working for me :)"

For Depression "I have been dealing with depression for well over 6 months and just about 2 months ago decided to go to the doctor to seek help with medication to bridge back to being myself. I first tried Viibryd for a month, worked well for me emotionally and for my moods, but I gained weight, which triggered deeper depression for me. I am now trying this Brintellix stuff. I have had severe itching throughout my entire body, it gets worse when I'm sitting still and trying to fall asleep at night. I'll be itching my back and legs so hard in my sleep that it wakes me. I have only been on this drug for a month! Totally not worth it. Not to mention the vomiting, which makes everything so much worse. I hate the medication guessing game that comes along with this."

For Depression "I had a pretty great experience with Venlafaxine, which basically worked immediately when I started taking them. However, after a couple of years, I grew intolerant to them. My Dr. suggested Trintellix - and gawd, do I wish I hadn't tried them. I eventually went as high as 20 mg. They gave me insane nausea, vomiting, seasickness, and intense mood swings, if you can even call it that, because those mood swings were more a combo of all negative emotions: depression, hopelessness, anger, anxiety, panic, which caused me to have some severe suicidal urges just because I desperately needed it to stop. It was the absolute opposite experience of Venlafaxine, which had made me practically high and euphoric when I started on them. Now that I'm no longer on these demon pills, I still struggle with a sensitivity to nausea that can cause me to vomit, which I can't seem to get rid of. Perhaps they've changed me forever, and that really bums me out."

For Depression "Mid-fifties female, recently menopause. Suffered depression and anxiety since teens. Generic Effexor XR for 6 months stopped working for depression and hot flashes. Day one took 5mg, nothing noticed but a bit sleepy two hours after. Second day took mid-morning after breakfast. In one hour was nauseous, then vomited. Nausea lasted several hours. Third day took 5mg, same but didn't vomit. Like being seasick. Third day decided to take a higher dose-two 5mg doses, morning and evening. Had slight nausea. Fourth day took 10mg at bedtime and woke up with nausea. No vomiting. Fifth day had a cup of coffee, took 10mg, then ate breakfast. An hour later-no nausea. Stayed with this schedule and didn't have any more nausea. Going into the second and third week, I didn't have depression but didn't care about anything, no interest in doing anything. Given samples and was concerned about drug price, though I do understand they offer a coupon. I did have semi-soft stool while taking this medicine. On generic Cymbalta now."

For Major Depressive Disorder "I started up Trintellix (that's what it's called here in Canada) about 2 months ago. I have noticed a complete change in my attitude and personality. I no longer feel as sad and hopeless as I did before, and my anxiety is almost not even there. Sure, I still get a few depressive episodes, but they don't ever last more than a day, and I've only had 2 so far. I have cycled through so many different antidepressants that I actually got fed up and quit them altogether, but I'm glad I decided to give them another try. However, every morning after I take my pill (10 mg), I get extremely nauseous. I end up puking almost every other morning. Today it was just a cup of orange juice. Because of this, I have lost about 15 lbs from not eating as much."

For Major Depressive Disorder "My doctor started me on this drug after Prozac (which gave me terrible side effects, such as nausea, vomiting, sleeplessness, anxiety) and Cipralex/Lexapro (which didn't change my mood at all) both didn't work for me. I was about four months shy of my 18th birthday, but, according to my doctor, it was alright since I've achieved my 'adult body.' This medication is, by far, the best one I've tried. No side effects at all, and a great improvement to mood. I'm giving it a 9/10 only because it didn't cheer me up the way Prozac did (despite all the side effects) but that could be due to my lifestyle and not the medication."

For Depression "Made me so dizzy and nauseous. Would make me dry heave on an empty stomach and then throw up the water I drank it down with. It wouldn't make me actually throw up if I ate an hour before and then right after taking it, but still made me feel sick. Got upped to 20 mg and couldn't keep it and any food down no matter what."

For Depression "Started at 10 mg for 2 weeks and took 20 mg for 4 weeks. Some nausea and itchy skin the first 2 weeks, then no noticeable side effects. However, I did experience elevated blood pressure and severe ringing in both ears but was also taking a large dose of prednisone at that time for cluster headaches. Stopped taking everything, and BP returned to normal. Before the BP spike, this stuff was working exactly as stated. Have tried to restart but vomit every time."

For Depression "I was on Viibryd and doing well, but my insurance stopped covering it at the start of the year. My doctor recommended Trintellix since it was the most similar. One dose at bedtime last night, and I will never take it again. My stomach started feeling queasy about 30 minutes after taking the pill, which progressed to stomach pain, explosive diarrhea, and awful gas as the night wore on. When I finally quit running to the bathroom, the stomach pain made it difficult to fall asleep. When I finally fell asleep about 90 minutes later, I experienced nightmares and hallucination-like episodes, where even when I startled awake, I was convinced I could still see the nightmares happening. Happened a couple of times and made for a terrible night’s sleep. When I got up the next morning, I started vomiting. I will never take another pill of this. Already have a call in with my doctor to get something different."

For Major Depressive Disorder "I've been on pretty much every antidepressant. SSRIs do nothing for my depression. The only other medication that helped was Wellbutrin, but I stopped that due to not being able to sleep at all. I started on 5 mg, then increased to 10 mg 2 weeks later. It has helped my depression the most, and I have more energy. The side effects are what make me hate taking this. I've experienced nausea, vomiting, constipation, and decreased sexual desire. The worst, though, is the nausea. I'm nauseous every time I take it, it doesn't matter if I eat with it or not. If I don't eat before I take it, then I vomit. This medication is also expensive, it's not covered by my insurance."

For Depression "It's day 3 of the 5 mg, and honestly, I have never felt my body ache like this before. I have thrown up all day, can't keep anything down. And I'm so weak I can barely hold my son. I found this forum trying to find out what is going on with me right now and if this medication is the reason. It definitely is. I feel betrayed by my Dr."

For Depression "I have generalized anxiety disorder with a hint of depression. I started out on 5 mg of Trintellix along with Buspar and Klonopin, then after 2 weeks, I went up to 10 mg of Trintellix. I take the medicine in the morning, and within 10 mins, I'm having severe abdominal pain, dry heaving, migraines, and itching everywhere! I've been on Klonopin for years, so I know it's not that. Buspar makes me feel crazy, so the only thing it could be is the Trintellix. I just assume stop rather than take any more and feel this much physical pain. It will make you crazy in itself. I do not recommend this to anyone."

For Depression "Horrible side effects. Was on for 1 month but was nauseated and vomited every day for that month. I give it a two only because it didn't make me suicidal, as some other Rx's have (cough-Cymbalta). Now on Viibryd and doing much better (and not vomiting!) :)"

For Depression "Worst experience on an antidepressant that I have ever had! First day, I took the med, and 1 1/2 hours later I was shaking violently, vomiting, and had diarrhea all at once. My anxiety went through the roof and I had 4 panic attacks the first day! It took a week and my symptoms just escalated each day! I have been on everything and I’ve experienced the worst side effects on Trintellix than on Wellbutrin, Zoloft, Prozac, Effexor, Celexa, Lexapro, Prestiqe, and more."

For Major Depressive Disorder "Wish that I had thought to read this before I took this medication, and this was only DAY 1. Took it with my normal cocktail of medication, however, since I do not tolerate new medication very well, I am only on the 5 mg tablet that is cut in half. Well, after about 35 mins of taking all my meds, I start to feel this warm feeling rise up from my feet. I just make it to the bathroom to barf up the contents of my stomach, which, by the way, is not much since all I did was take my meds... something that I have been doing for the past 3 years without incident until now. Had I known that a side effect was vomiting, I would have waited and taken that medication by itself or with the Zofran that I have in the cabinet to combat the nausea."

For Major Depressive Disorder "I have severe depression and have been on Trintellix for a month. At first, the nausea and vomiting were awful. My doctor gave me promethazine, but that didn't help. A medication that did work is Zofran, and it works like a charm for the nausea. It completely stops it. I take Trintellix in the afternoon and about an hour later, Zofran. No more nausea; I am so relieved. However, I thought Trintellix would help my depression more. I seem to be more anxious. I am prescribed Valium 5 mg, up to once a day, but I rarely used to take it. Now I am so anxious that I have to take it. I was so hopeful, and now I'm so disappointed that Trintellix is not working as expected. Does anyone have any suggestions for another antidepressant?"

For Depression "I have been on Brintellix for three weeks. I have not felt any effects whatsoever. It only serves to make me vomit nearly every morning. Libido is zero. This only adds to my anxiety and depression. It is also very expensive, costing me nearly $450 a month. If I felt just a little better, I would not mind spending the money. Drug companies just suck! For the money, this med is just not worth it, and I will request another antidepressant from my MD at my next visit."

For Depression "Wish I could rate this poisonous chemical a minus ZERO... got free samples for 6 weeks at 5 mg. I've missed so much work trying to adjust to flu-like symptoms, leg cramps, diarrhea, more depressed. The pharmaceutical rep told my doctor he himself was on it. Imagine that, just to push this medication onto lab rats such as myself. I'm now trying to connect with a withdrawal specialist, waiting for a call back. As I've tried to cut the pill into 3 sections, within an hour I'm vomiting, I'm dehydrated, and reporting this medication to the FDA and any other agency that will take this seriously. My primary, only a DO, has no experience in antidepressants. He just passed along samples talked into by his drug rep. I HATE what this med has done to me."

For Major Depressive Disorder "I have been on just about every antidepressant out there. I have even had 38 treatments of electroconvulsive therapy. Lamictal, a mood stabilizer, and Klonopin have been the best for me. Prozac had the least side effects for me, and I liked it. But Dr. suggested Trintellix. I would have to say it is the worst antidepressant I have ever been on. The first night I took it, within an hour, I vomited 3 times. And then I got a horrible migraine. I never throw up! I would rather be depressed than ever take Trintellix again. I think it works because you are too sick to think about being sad!"

For Depression "I took 10 mg Trintellix every day, and every time, even while eating (and I was taking Gravol to hopefully help), I would get horrible nausea and vomited a few times every day. It doesn't agree with me, and I couldn't get through the sickness, even though I felt like I was feeling better after a few days, as well as taking Wellbutrin. Not sure what else could help?"

For Depression "Omg!!! This drug has been a nightmare for me! I didn't even realize it until today. I read the side effects of the medication. I have every single one of them: severe migraines, eye pain, nausea, diarrhea, and vomiting. I have been going through so much in my life that I literally didn't know that it was the Trintellix that might have been causing the migraines, eye pain, diarrhea, nausea, and vomiting that I have been having since I've been on it the last several months! I just put it with stress and sinusitis. I was on Lexapro for many years. I was suffering from very bad depression because of a lot of bad things that were going on in my life this past summer. I thought it was time for a change of medication. A nurse practitioner put me on Prozac, and that made me agitated. Another nurse practitioner put me on Trintellix. At first, I thought it made me feel better because it made me very active. I was doing things at home, getting out of bed, which I wasn't doing when I was on Lexapro."

I threw up so much from it I don't think any of it actually got into my system. The side effects on this were the worst I've ever felt on an antidepressant."
