"Saw an improvement with the very first pill. Not perfect, but a great improvement. No side effects so far. I take 75 mg once per day. I cannot afford this drug, so after my drs. samples are gone, I will have to stop the drug. If you are on Medicare, you don't qualify for the discounts and freebies the manufacturer offers. They don't realize with a drug so expensive you go into the "donut hole" right away and they won't pay. Unfair."

"Great medicine, allowed me to go on vacation without locating bathroom all the time, unfortunately not covered by insurance (seems like all the good meds aren’t) so won’t be able to use until price goes down."

"I can’t believe how many meds I have tried until my urologist gave me Gemtesa. A wonder drug. Like many others have said the insurance doesn’t cover it. When I went to pick my first 90 pills the pharmacist said it would be $1552.00. I said no it won’t and I left. I feel these companies need to give up the profits and help people. They want to sell their drugs then they need to lower their price. What happened to the congress who said they were going to help ? Thank goodness for the free samples."

"This drug is so amazing. It worked almost immediately. I just couldn't believe it. I was given samples of Gemtesa. The major drawback is that my insurance does not cover it. Unfortunately, due to the high price I simply can't afford it."

"It has been working great for me. I have tried other overactive bladder treatments in the past that didn’t work as well and increased my blood pressure. Like other posters, it is relatively expensive. I paid $50 for a one month supply. What I did find is that I don’t have to use it every day to be effective. I stretched it to every 4 days and still working but less effective."

"Had reaction after 21 days. My migraines had increased, I was not emptying my bladder completely, and I had to use the bathroom more frequently. Then I started bleeding after 21 days and have not stopped yet after 8 days. It takes 6-8 days to get out of your system accordingly to the pharmacist. I am on Eliquis and had to stop that medication till the bleeding stops. Be careful if you are on a blood thinner for a-fib."

"Urologist gave me some samples; I found that Medicare would not cover it; co-pay through GoodRx was abominable, and I could not get it through GoodRx because I have Medicare; I also have Stage 3 kidney disease, and just about all of the listed meds for OAB state that one should not take them if one has liver or kidney problems. NICE !! What's a person to do? NOT interested in BOTOX injections...cost also too high. Urologist has never suggested any kind of surgery. So I'm stuck with pads."

"My medical insurance does not cover Botox but my prescription plan does cover Gemtesa at a cost that is very reasonable. Go figure?? I have been taking Gemtesa 75mg for just more than 6 months. I am very happy with the results. Since my chief complaint prior to taking the med was getting up at night multiple times made me tired and cranky during the day; my doctor told me to take the med at night. I had almost instant positive results. What I don’t know is; how long can one take Gemtesa?"

"My Urologist gave me free samples to try. He said it would take about 2 weeks to see an effect. Initially I didn't notice much difference, possibly less frequent trips to the bathroom during the day, but I was still getting up every hour at night, and after about 10 or so days started having extreme difficulty getting a stream started at night. I stopped taking after 2 weeks and the difficulty subsided. I contacted the Urologist and he suggested I continue taking it, and after resuming I am back to extreme difficulty at night after about 10 days. I will have to stop taking this, and given how expensive everyone says it is, I'm glad."

"It works pretty well, I had a 1-month sample, and now it will cost me $100.00 per month with my ChampVa, I have had to cut my last week of pills into half to do until I get more, because of the cost I will continue to cut these in half. By taking 1/2 a pill I'm feeling more of the normal feelings of having to urinate, I think it works better for me than a whole pill. I would like to know where someone purchased their prescription for $50.00."

"This drug seems to be working well for me. Not 100% but definitely better. I see a lot of people on here having to stop because of the price. I paid $10 for my RX. I used my insurance and went to the actual Gemtesa site and signed up for their “savings card” which cover all but $10.00 after my insurance paid. I hope you all can find relief."

"First, my botox injection gave out last Thursday, so I have been peeing every 20 min for the past 5 days. The dr prescribed GEMTESA, which my insurance DOES cover, but it is still close to $400. I bought it because I can't continue peeing like this. The 1st pill seems to have made a difference. Today I have gone an hour between visits. Which gives me 28 days to find a different answer. I'm praying against side effects."

"I was given samples by my urologist for an overactive bladder. I took the pills for about a week and ended up in emergency because I couldn’t pee and had an infection. Now I’m on a catheter. Terrible drug. I had no idea the pills are so expensive. So even if they did work, which they didn’t, I wouldn’t be able to afford them anyway."

"2 mosnths on Gemtesa, I was having painful urination, extremely dry skin and eyes. All my fingertips got knife-like cuts on them, and hurt so bad I had to buy special cream for them and wear gloves at night. My eyes became so dry that when I tried to blink, my eyelids stuck to my eyeballs. I got styes on all 4 eyelids. Right eye is really painful. Medicated eye drops and ointment is not resolving the styes. I quit taking Gemtesa 2 monthd after I started taking it when the dry eyes became unbearable and styes started appearing, plus the painful urination was scaring me. I did not want to have to deal with UTI's also! Too costly and I was not informed of a discount program and paid for a 90 day supply before I realized how intolerable the side effects were.! The least they can do is reimburse me for the 90 day supply. I had to pay 2 drs and buy 2 kinds of drops and 1 ointment & now I have to see another eye dr about the styes that aren't going away, the inability to see & burning eyes."

"I tried all the other drugs on the market, including Botox but nothing worked. I tried Gemtesa and found a huge difference in my overactive bladder. I don’t get a dry mouth like other drugs or any other side effects. I went from holding 250ml max to 900ml with no leakage!"

"I tried the samples that my Dr. gave me and it worked wonders. Then I go to get it from Express Scripts and they refused to fill it because it is not covered by my insurance. It is $500 a month, which I cannot afford to do. I already tried Botox, and that did absolutely nothing for me. Three times of that......no more. I'm just glad that I'm not the only one in this situation."

"I was given a two-week supply after a Urolift Procedure for my prostate. It has some benefit because before taking it I needed to be close to a bathroom. I have developed nasal congestion and some muscle stiffness."

"I for one have been battling OAB my entire 53yrs of my life, only to have it get worse as I aged and had my children that I experienced accidents and after a urodynamic study it was a 8.5 out of 10! Could not take myrbetric, was on Oxybutin with all the side effects and eventually stopped working. I’ve been on gemtesa for just over 3 months and I experienced the side effects and all…powered thru them and Oh My God this med is a life saver! Side effects gone, normal urges to urinate, not like the major urgency with the accidents!!! Please give this med some time! This may change your life!!"

"Gemtesa works to control OAB symptoms but makes me feel terrible. Have had to stop what I’m doing an hour after taking and lie down. Has anyone had this experience. It doesn’t do me any good to control OAB symptoms only to be incapacitated. This seems to happen 50% of the time….tonight, on half a dose."

"Gemtesa controls daytime urgency fine but I continue to get up 2-4 times a night to void. I can take long car trips without stopping every 1-1/2 hours and don’t have to locate bathrooms everywhere I go. So it has improved my life."

"Very positive. Been wearing a heavy incontinence pad 24/7 for at least 2 years which didn’t always do the trick. The first day I took this pill I was not incontinent once during the day or night. Skipped it a couple of days to see if it was a fluke. It wasn’t. I’m taking it again. Slight nausea right after taking it in the morning but maybe I should eat when I take it. I am very pleased. At 73 years old I take quite a few meds and was/am hesitant to take another one. Not anymore. Fortunately, my copay covers it as a 30-day supply of well over $600."

"I started this 3 weeks ago. I noticed an improvement almost right away. But, I have come off 2 of my migraine meds, because I found an injection a month that works. Again I’ve been on this Gemtesa 75 for 3 weeks, this past week I’ve had more migraines/headaches than the last 6 months, I guess I will need to come off. I’ve had 2 mesh surgeries. Maybe Botox. Suggestions…"

"My doctor prescribed Gemtesa after having tried other meds that didn't help with my overactive bladder. Within a week I noticed a major difference. It is doing so much more to alleviate my symptoms than anything previously. I can sleep through the night without 1-2 trips to the bathroom. The urgency is vastly reduced as well as the number of trips to the bathroom throughout the day. One thing I have noticed is that its increased my IBS-C issues. There has been increased gas and bloating as well as worse constipation."
