"I got the prescription 2 years ago. I have, for a long time, 10+ years, had a very irregular sleep pattern, as my wife will say. So I don't like taking pills at all. So it took almost 18 months for me to try it. It works well. I actually get a restful night's sleep. I cut them in half so I can get them to last longer, and I wake rather refreshed. I did take a whole one a while ago and went grocery shopping after I woke. I think I went back to sleep and woke at 10 a.m. I usually go to bed before 10 p.m. I am 55, 300, 5’10”. I have thyroid problems, or no thyroid anymore. New hip last year, new rotator cuff in 6 to 8 weeks, I hope. I think it works great. I only use it one or two times a week. Hope this helps."

"I have taken this for three years. It has been a lifesaver in keeping me calm and relaxing me overall. I will take 100 mg on average for sleep at night, I have also taken it throughout the day to keep a stable mood. It has helped with depression and aids well in sleep. You have to find the right dose for yourself though, everyone will have a different reaction to different mg doses. The most common dose I have seen across the board has been 75 mg at bedtime."

"Trazodone was prescribed to me as a sedation for sleep at night. I had a very bad night the first night. I had an extreme temperature and excessive sweating. However, this happened to me only on the first night. After that, it worked fine. Weirdly, I had taken it before and had discontinued due to lack of insurance. The very first time I took it, I had the exact same reaction only on the first night. Vivid dreams, extreme sweat, elevated temperature. I felt very feverish. After that, nothing out of the ordinary except being able to sleep."

"I have dealt with insomnia since 2005. I tried Benadryl, all the sleep aids you can name, but it wasn't until I realized I don't sleep normally. I was feeling horrible on 2-3 hours of sleep at night. My doctor recommended trazodone, which I had never heard of. On this medicine, I know I'll sleep and feel good the next day. It did take a week or so to get over the 'hangover' feeling, but for someone like myself that does have severe depression and insomnia, I recommend this medication."

"I have taken 100 mg for at least 10 years for sleep. It works great for me, a slight groggy feeling in the morning, but well worth it to have a full night’s sleep. I fall asleep soon after taking it. I have at times sleepwalked. I will find out in the morning when I find stuff moved around, dusting supplies in the washing machine, and tools from the garage in the kitchen. But I have sleepwalked since I was a little girl. And it seems to only happen when I am worried about something. This drug has been around for a long time and the benefit outweighs side effects for me."

"I’ve been on trazodone for a year now, and it has been a lifesaver! Before, I would just lay in bed for hours without sleeping, I couldn’t fall asleep due to nightmares associated with PTSD and depression, but on this, I sleep every night. Not many nightmares, it’s amazing. I read some reviews. It did take me like two weeks to not feel dazed out of my mind, but well worth it."

"I was prescribed trazodone to help with insomnia, and it's not worth it. It certainly did its job, normally, sleep meds don't work well for me, but it would have me knocked out within 20 minutes. The problem was, the next day I felt completely exhausted, like I hadn't slept at all, and I had difficulty concentrating and performing at work. I felt like I was drunk or stoned all day, and I was making mistakes at work. My friends and family said I seemed like a different person. At first, I didn't suspect that it was the trazodone, I thought I was just depressed or something, but after I stopped taking it, I felt my normal, happy, energetic self within 2 days. Not recommended."

"I have taken Trazodone for years in conjunction with Paxil. I was given the Trazodone for insomnia, and it works for me. I take it at bedtime, and I am asleep within 15 minutes. Generally, I sleep throughout the night as well."

"I have taken Trazodone 150 mg for 5 years. It has been a godsend for me. I have chronic pain that would keep me up all night. Also, my head would not stop working overtime, and I had trouble falling asleep. Now I am asleep within 20 minutes, and I wake at night with no problem getting back to sleep."

"I have relied on this medication for a very long time. With the latest refill, I noticed the tablet had changed. Previously, it was an elongated oval tablet that easily snapped into sections. Now the shape has changed, and it is very hard. One must use a pill cutter to divide it. My pill cutter will not permit me to cut it into 50 mg. Most importantly, it no longer works for me."

Trazodone "I actually was taking this through high school because of depression and severe insomnia, and it worked wonders. As I got older, though, I stopped taking it, and recently the sleep problems have started back up again. My doctor gave me 100 mg tabs of trazodone (the generic), and I had really bad headaches when I woke up in the mornings. I think it was because when I was in high school, I was taking between 25-50 mg. Bought a pill splitter, and I split the 100 mg tablets into quarters and take 1-2 of them to equal the approximate dose of 25-50 mg I was taking. So far, so good, and I haven't had the headaches so far... been doing this for a couple of days so far."

"This drug trazodone has truly injured my life. It was prescribed to me by a mental health professional for sleep after my parents died a few days apart years and years ago. I was told it was tried and true for helping with insomnia. It did for a while. Over the years, I thought it fairly harmless, as did my doctors, evidently, to whom I went with a constellation of distressing symptoms over the years. No one looked at trazodone. I have been weaning myself off trazodone, and the arc of healing is positive, but day to day can be debilitating. The symptoms of withdrawal are distressing to say the least. Global weakness, profuse sweating, anxiety, headaches, rash, pins and needles, numbness, poor concentration, lack of focus, labile BP to stroke levels, rapid heart rate, heavy breathing. Just awful. I have asked our research hospital to do a comprehensive study on this drug. It is not benign."

"I have had insomnia since I was 12, I started taking this when I was 14 and have been sleeping well-ish since. My body adjusts to it very easily, though, so my doctor had to keep going up on my dose. Now I just take my 100 to 150 mg of trazodone at night and a melatonin if I need it. Works pretty well. I don't have any nightmares, but my dreams are strange."

"I was started on Trazodone 50 mg 1 week ago for insomnia and have experienced joint and muscle pain and weakness. I feel like I have been to the gym every morning! Anyone else experience this, and if so, did it go away?"

"My head spins with overactive thoughts at bedtime, causing insomnia. Ambien worked, but I changed to Trazodone 100 mg. I fell asleep quickly, but woke up feeling dizzy, as if hungover. The feeling lasted throughout the day. I didn't like the lingering feeling, so I halved the dose, 50 mg. Same side effects, felt drowsy and dizzy in the morning. I will go back to using Benadryl, as it didn't give me the zombie feeling like Trazodone. (Xanax worked for me, but I didn't want to get addicted to it, so I don't take it.)"

"I was prescribed this drug to help me sleep. I am on EMSAM for an antidepressant and it keeps me awake at night. I found that trazodone works well for sleep, but aching muscles and bones have made the drug just not worth it for me."

"I have been taking Trazodone for 5 years now for sleep. Before that, I tried many over-the-counter meds and many prescribed meds. For some reason, this one works. I didn't have insomnia but had bad nightmares throughout the night that would wake me up. This medicine is my dragonslayer that slays the nightmares before they get to me. As a result, I sleep through the night without waking."

"I am able to fall asleep within a half hour and stay asleep at least seven hours. Prior to taking Trazodone, I would wake up every two hours, so it has allowed me to finally sleep after months of insomnia. Cons: I have new anxiety, sweating during the day, awful short-term memory that is worsening, tremors, and amnesia."

"The hangovers from trazodone weren't worth me taking them one more night! It caused pounding headaches, irritability, and me being stuck in a fog all day. Besides, I'm on Lamictal (which has saved my life and kept me sober for over a year now). Lamictal is a bipolar medication. My family friend who is a psychiatrist said the number one mistake doctors make is prescribing depression meds with bipolar meds. It is a horrible cocktail. I'm done with trazodone for sleep. Back to dollar store sleep aids it is."

"Omg. This is one of the worst meds I have ever taken. If you never had a diagnosed mental illness, you would after trazodone. And no, you’re not going crazy. Those horrific side effects are really happening: feeling like you’re being pricked by “pins and needles,” they call it nervousness, but it’s really an immense feeling of agitation, extreme sluggishness upon waking, which lasts most of the day, and feeling like you’re going to vomit all day. No kidding! Never again!! Did put me to sleep, but good does not outweigh the bad."

"I get scared taking sleeping meds, but I tried this, and it works pretty well! I have really bad insomnia, but this medicine works just fine. Even though it doesn’t make me go to sleep completely, it’s still amazing. I’m currently on 50 mg, but my doc said I could take up to 100 mg. I suggest this med! You should take a gene/saliva test to find which medicines work well with you! I found out I have the MTHFR gene mutation. Anyway, thought that this could help you! Hope you feel better."

"I started taking this medication due to an inability to go to sleep. For some reason, it knocks me out no matter what dosage I take. 8 mg is the same effect as 50 mg. I sleep at least 8-9 hours straight and feel hungover the next day. It definitely makes me sleep, but I have strange dreams and wake up feeling terrible the next day."

"I have been on Teva's trazodone for over 10 years. A mild dose, but ALWAYS puts me immediately to sleep. Teva Pharmaceuticals has UPDATED their trazodone tablets to the point where I/my body simply cannot tolerate the side effects anymore. Some pharmacists believe me, others simply scoff in my face. The pill is bigger and no longer simply 'scored' on one side. This new medication, instead of alleviating my chronic insomnia, has kept me awake night after night after night. Whatever Teva has placed in their NEW trazodone pills is what is causing the severe side effects. The INACTIVE ingredients. For the first time in my life, I am STUTTERING. I am completely unable to SLEEP. There isn't one single anticholinergic effect that goes hand in hand with the AUTHENTIC trazodone. For one year now, I have been 'buying' out CVS Pharmacy with the expiration dates that end in May 2021. New pills are manufactured after that date. Contacting Teva/FDA IMMEDIATELY."

"I was really hoping this was going to work for me. Not sure if the groggy, stoned feeling is better or worse than the exhaustion from insomnia. Took it at 8 pm and could not fall asleep until after midnight. Had a horrible time getting out of bed at 5 am and still can't seem to wake up."

"This medication is an excellent sleep aider. I'd compare it to temazepam for sleep, less dodgy, and it does really help you sleep. I'm on 150 mg a night, and it does knock me out. I love this medication, and I'd recommend this over benzos and zopiclone any day."
