"I have successfully used tramadol (50 mg daily) in conjunction with 0.75 mg of ropinirole for about 5 years. I am 84 y/o and have had RLS most of my life. I had taken ropinirole for about 18 years. The first 13 years stand alone. At that point, instead of upping the dosage, my GP suggested I add the tramadol due to the augmentation issues with ropinirole. This has been the perfect combo for me. My next step will be to add another 50 mg of tramadol if needed, which my doctor agrees with. I have had no side effects from either drug and have enjoyed 7-9 hours of sleep nightly since 2005!"

"I had to chuckle when I read that Tramadol was used for RLS! I have had RLS since childhood. Was given Tramadol for pain after knee replacement surgery. In reading up on the Tramadol, I saw that it was used for RLS also. It didn’t do a thing for my RLS! I have read in other articles that RLS may be the only observed symptom for some people with adult ADHD. Of course, the other symptoms are there, but the person may not be aware of them. I have had the ADHD diagnosis for many years... just had never realized that RLS could be part of it! My doctor has prescribed a very low dose of Adderall to use for nighttime ADHD problems... RLS being one of them. I have also found that drinking a cup of coffee helps with the RLS. I know this sounds weird, but it helps!"

"I have used Topamax for my restless leg syndrome, and it works great! I have had horrible migraines to which I had to go to the hospital for injections all the time. The doctors found out it was due to the restless leg syndrome. Once they put me on the Topamax, it has taken care of the migraines and the restless leg syndrome. If you can, give it a try. It really does work."

"Have experienced RLS for approximately the last 10 years. It has severely impacted my ability to fall asleep at night. While taking tramadol prior to recent knee surgery, I noticed the RLS had all but disappeared. I was taking 2 of the small tablets at bedtime, not certain of the dosage (50 mg each?). After surgery, I no longer had access to tramadol, and the RLS immediately reappeared. I average less than 5 hours of sleep a night now and have found no substitute for tramadol to ease the RLS symptoms."

"I take 50 mgs of Tramadol for moderate pain, as needed. I took 1 pill at 1 pm, and not felt the need to follow up yet at 8:20 pm. I just had a procedure done for a prostate issue I have had for about 12 years. I am 71 years old. This aggravating condition did not qualify for a relatively new procedure called the 'UroLift System.' The discomfort has not improved too much with medications like Finasteride and Tamsulosin. The profile of my condition called for the Greenlight Laser Therapy."

"I used Ultram for 3 years for chronic back pain/sciatica. It's the only medicine that relieved the pain every time. I took 1-3 50 mg pills per day and NEVER had to increase dosage. HOWEVER, I started having memory/attention problems, shaking, blurry vision, and possible seizures (being evaluated now). I've been off Ultram for nearly a month now, and it feels like the veil has been lifted... like my brain's back, clarity. But my original pain feels twice as bad, I have restless legs syndrome and am sleeping MAYBE 4 hours per night. All are symptoms of withdrawal. It worked great for the pain."

"I first was prescribed for chronic lower back pain but noticed after a week that it stopped my RLS and I slept better. I figured the better sleep helped with my pain too. So it was win-win. I took it for a few months. I noticed after the fact I felt mentally better as well. I do have mild-moderate depression, anxiety, panic attacks, and OCD which were not bothering me while taking it. I took 1 50 mg tab a night. Anyway, I was off them for several years. Then my back flared and I started it again. Second time in my life so I was paying extra attention. A few years ago I was diagnosed with FM and CFS/ME on top of everything else along with IBS/SIBO. Tramadol really helps EVERYTHING for me. I take 1 tab daily as needed for pain. I usually feel better body, mind, and spirit for about 48 hours, but then I feel my pains and depression again. Learning it can and has been used for many conditions other than just acute and chronic pain. I'm going to keep researching because antidepressants have not worked well for me."

"I have been taking pramipexole on prescription for some time now. I had to take tramadol to relieve hip pain. I discovered that my RLS disappeared to my delight. I take one 37.5mg tablet with one 500mg paracetamol. No side effects."

"Requip for RLS augments over time and makes symptoms worse (coming on earlier in the day and stronger symptoms) and also causes “poor impulse control.” Botox injections (200 units per calf) worked on the injected area, but I had breakthrough pain elsewhere in my lower legs. I’m now on tramadol, and if this doesn’t work, the only other option is a low-level dose of methadone. I’m grateful to be under the care of a pioneer movement disorder researcher/neurologist in Houston, TX, even though it’s a 4.5 hr drive for appointments. I’m hopeful after reading all the positive comments about tramadol on their RLS."

"I take it for back and neck pain. As for restless legs, it does nothing to stop my legs from acting up. After it has left my system, I have back and neck pain again and can't get out of bed or walk without a walking stick."

"Ohhh, don't take Effexor (Venlafaxine) and tramadol on the same day! My doc said not to, but tramadol helps me sleep deeply, so now and then I do. Well, last night, if those odd muscle jerks and repeated shakes/moves weren't minor seizures, then I have no other explanation!"

"Have taken a few times before. 100-200 mg works like a charm for RLS. You won’t be able to feel your legs at all. It is fine to take during the day and better than other opioids like oxycodone or Vicodin because it does not make you nearly as tired, but it will give you a mood boost. 50 mg works a little bit, but 100 mg is when you really feel it working."

"If I could give it a negative 10, I would. I took a 50 mg pill about 1 1/2 hours ago and still not working. I can't have another one for 8 hours, and I am afraid to take anything else at this time. I am calling the doctor tomorrow for something else."

"Thank God above for Tramadol! I was nervous when they decided it was a controlled substance, but my doctor understands what I went through before. 100 mg at 3pm and 100 mg at 9pm. I can't even relax and watch a movie without it, my RLS and RAS are so bad! Never have taken more or less for many many years!"
