Tirzepatide for Type 2 Diabetes "My A1C and glucose levels are great. I am not on insulin. Side effects are rotten. Nausea, GERD, constipation/diarrhea, headache, stomach pain, decreased appetite every shot lessens over the week. Had this with Ozempic and Trulicity too, but not as severe. I have seen no weight loss benefit despite a decent diet and moderate exercise 3-5 times per week. Other side effects I’m not sure are related: feeling of lump in throat, slight face rash, occasional blurred vision, tingling in hands."

Tirzepatide for Type 2 Diabetes "I was prescribed this medication after having an ESG procedure to help with weight loss and in hopes of reversing Type 2. I also have PCOS and a family history of Type 2. After being on this medication, I am down at least 10 lbs (don’t remember my weight when I started), and my blood glucose is not in the diabetic range. My A1C was 5.9, down from 7.9, and I expect that to be lower on my next labs. I do have some side effects, the most prominent is constipation. Miralax helps. I used to get a headache after injection, but I take ibuprofen beforehand, and that helps. I also inject my thigh, not my stomach, and I do it before bed. I have to remember to eat and drink water. I would recommend this medication. I hope I’ve lost enough weight to get off and stay off. So far, so good."

Tirzepatide for Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "Lost 30 lbs. (12%) in about 20 weeks. Had a few mild headaches in the first week or two, but they subsided. In the last week, headaches have gotten more severe. Almost like a migraine. Taking Advil to control. Checking with provider on next step. Do I stop, change dosage, timing?"

Tirzepatide for Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "Female, 52 years, beginning weight 177 lbs, 5'7. I took my fourth injection of 2.5 mg this morning. I've been eating about 500 calories/day. The first week I lost 2 lbs and I walked 3 miles 2 days and lifted weights 1 day. The second week back to 177 lbs, including 2 days in the gym. In the third week, I traveled and did not exercise or weigh myself. I ate out for Mother's Day and for a friend's baby shower. When I returned, I was 175 lbs. In 3 weeks, I've lost a total of 4 lbs. Side effects for me have been a little more tired-duh-less energy going in. This doesn't seem worth the cost. We meet with the doctor tomorrow about upping it to 5 mg. My husband has been diligent about walking 5-7 miles per day also on 2.5 mg, 500 calories/day, and has lost about 8 lbs. (He has more to lose than me). His side effects were little nausea the first week, a slight decrease in focus and energy, some mild headaches, and diarrhea. Says pooping is faster."

Tirzepatide for Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "Love this medication and have lost 10kg in 6 weeks with a good diet and exercise. However, the side effects can be pretty intense. 2.5mg - sulfur burps, lethargy, flatulence, weight loss, decreased appetite, nausea. 5mg - sulfur burps, flatulence, abdominal distension, nausea, weight loss, chills, fever, headaches."

Tirzepatide for Type 2 Diabetes "After month two, I’ve gotten a rash at the injection site. I immediately get a headache, much like a migraine, an hour or two after the injection. On day 2, I’m very tired and battle headaches throughout the day. On days 3, 4, and 5, I am nauseated and don’t have much of an appetite. On days 6 and 7, I’m extremely hungry, and then it starts like clockwork again. I don’t notice any weight loss, if so, it’s inches off my waist, but nothing too noticeable. I was on Ozempic 2 mg for 2 years and was switched to 7.5 mg of Mounjaro after the Ozempic shortage began in June 2022. Not sure if I should switch back at this point."

Tirzepatide for Type 2 Diabetes "I have been on Mounjaro since October 2023. My A1C was at a 9 at my last appointment. Sept 18, my A1C was at a 5. As an added benefit, I have lost 60 lb. and have been able to review my journey with food, make smarter choices because I don't have the crazy urges to just EAT anything. I did have issues with my stomach the first 5 months on the medication, but I was able to adjust my eating to ease the discomfort. I avoided spicier foods, and very sweet food seemed to cause discomfort, and taking/drinking Activia probiotic dailies really helped. I also noticed I really had to pay attention to my water intake because I didn't feel thirsty and I would forget to drink water, so I set my water out at my desk to make sure I didn't get dehydrated. I did at the beginning, but as I am figuring that out, it's less of a problem. And I am able to move more as the weight comes off. I do experience more headaches now, but I believe that is because I am not always drinking the water I should be drinking."

Tirzepatide for Type 2 Diabetes "Just injected my 5th dose of 2.5 mg Mounjaro. T2 for about a decade, but trying to avoid insulin. A1C had been creeping up to the 7s, decided on Mounjaro mostly because the injector pen is not scary. Adding 2.5 mg of Mounjaro made my glucose levels perfect, so now we will titrate up to 5 mg of Mounjaro and down on other meds. Glucose control has been great, smoothing out my resistant morning highs like nothing else. Side effects: crummy. Headaches kick in on days 2-3, and I can't figure out the formula for the constipation, but it is no joke. Hydration and fiber are necessary. The good news is in the 5th week, things are getting better. Headaches are less severe and don't last as long, and bathroom issues are lessening, though not gone. I am part of the unfortunate group that has not lost a single ounce in 5 weeks. My interest in food tends to evaporate as I eat, and I have some almost pica-like cravings for sushi and the darkest chocolate I can find. Time will tell if a higher dose does more for me."

Tirzepatide for Type 2 Diabetes "First week, I had massive diarrhea and a splitting headache. Week 2 was better. Just a headache. Week 3, still have a headache. Down 8 pounds in 3 weeks. Blood sugar is fine. I find I don’t eat much. I have to force myself to drink too."

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "Was really hopeful Mounjaro would be the weight loss miracle I have been hoping for. And I have lost some weight in the three weeks I have been on it, but the side effects are not worth it. The nausea is miserable and is not helped by anything I take to help. Also often have a bad taste in my mouth (which is super annoying because of the nausea), have had some headaches, and feel a bit down/anxious. I took my fourth dose last night, and it will be my last dose. I kept at it hoping the side effects would subside, but they haven't."

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "I started the Mounjaro 2 weeks and 6 days ago for obesity and due for my 3rd shot tomorrow. I started on the 2.5 mg dose. After my 1st injection, I felt fine that first day. The second day, I woke up feeling dizzy, almost like I was drunk, and extremely fatigued and exhausted. I felt almost back to normal by noon but was very nauseous the whole day. I spent the majority of the first week nauseous and had a significantly decreased appetite. I did not lose any weight. In the second week, nausea was a little worse. I noticed that if I ate a bite occasionally, I wouldn’t get as nauseous. I was barely eating, but as the week went on, my appetite turned normal. Also, at the end of the 3rd day of my 2nd week, I had a severe headache. I have Crohn’s, and I am used to having diarrhea daily. I have been slightly constipated, the 2nd week worse than the 1st. But I have actually gained 2.2 lb! How? I don’t eat much due to nausea! I will stay the course for now… My appetite is definitely down, little cravings."

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "Have taken my 3rd shot but have not had any issues at all. At this point, I still have cravings at night. I eat a lot less, but I'm not weighing until I go back to the doctor to see if I have lost weight. So far, I'm satisfied. No headaches or nausea, I feel fine."

Tirzepatide for Type 2 Diabetes "I have been on Mounjaro since Sep 2022. I started off with the 2.5 mg for about a month with no issues. My provider then moved me to 5 mg in October. Once again, no issues, and I started losing weight. 15 lbs in about 6 weeks. I was then moved up to 7.5 mg in November and have been miserable ever since. I have no appetite, severe constipation, major headaches, and vomiting, and I am now having issues with low blood pressure (causing lightheadedness, dizziness, and vision issues), which I believe is being caused by my never wanting to eat or drink anything. I have informed my provider of this, and she is now wanting to send me to a cardiologist to make sure my heart is working properly. She has also decided to lower my dosage back to 5 mg. I am hoping this change helps because so far, my type 2 diabetes is under control, and my sugars have been fantastic!"

Tirzepatide for Type 2 Diabetes "I am nearing the end of my 3rd week with Mounjaro 2.5 mg. The side effects in the first week were awful: heartburn, sulfur burps, nausea, and slight headache. These side effects lessened by the 5th day. The second week was a little better. The side effects were somewhat better and only lasted for 4-5 days. Fatigue crept in the second week. Now I am on Day 5 of my third week. The main side effects now are acid reflux, slight nausea, and extreme weakness and tiredness. My appetite is really suppressed on Mounjaro. I don’t get hungry at all. So far I have lost 13 lbs in 19 days. The weight loss is great, but the fatigue and weakness are really bad. I am a 63 y/o male, type 2 diabetic for 25 years, currently 252 lbs. This medicine is not for everyone, and I don’t think I will be taking another Mounjaro injection."

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "Took my first dose on 5/10/2024, felt fine but did feel loss of appetite. By 5/14, that all changed. Woke up with terrible cramps, diarrhea, chills, and headache. So bad I had to call in to work. Now I don't know if this is what caused it but I was not watching my fat intake, busy with 2 birthdays and Mother's Day. Talked to the provider and they gave me a prescription for nausea. I felt good enough on 5/16 evening to work with one of my horses but today back at work with a gurgling stomach and belching. Can hardly eat because I'm afraid to. My dose was 2.5, provider wants me to wait a week or so and lower my dosage. I am truly afraid to take it, due to the effects I am having now. I had high hopes it would help me lose 30 lbs but not so sure anymore. Effective but not much fun to feel this terrible. Maybe just need my body to get used to it. Don't know, I may have triggered this by poor eating after the injection."

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "Well tolerated. First injection was December 1, 2023. Shot produced nausea and headache. Symptoms lasted less than 48 hours. All subsequent shots (including dosage increases) have been without side effects. As of 7/15/24, I'm still on the medication and up to 125 units once a week. My overall experience has been excellent. I have seen amazing weight loss results. I've lost 60 lbs to date and went from a 44-inch waist back into a size 32-inch waist. I've also made considerable lifestyle changes. I've eliminated all sugar and switched to a whole food diet. I supplement daily and have never had more energy."

Tirzepatide for Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "Lost weight in the first few weeks. Some issues with belching and diarrhea for the first several weeks, which declined over time. But then, after approximately 6 weeks, no weight loss was noted. Still eating less, so hoping that the decreased intake of calories would reduce weight. Then had COVID, so had to miss a week, stayed on original dosage, no weight loss. Then, when dosage increased after the 3rd month, symptoms returned: upset stomach and diarrhea. During the same period, slightly elevated temperature, fatigue, headaches. Lost from 240 to 218 in 4 months, so cost was $100 per pound."

Tirzepatide for Type 2 Diabetes "I have been taking Mounjaro since December 2022, beginning with the lowest dose of 2.5 mg, and increasing to 5 mg, briefly going to 7.5 mg, and currently back at 5 mg. Anyway, I had already made huge changes to my diet and reduced my insulin, but couldn’t quite get my glucose levels where I wanted them. For the most part, it’s been great. I’m now off all other diabetic medication, including insulin, and am able to keep my blood sugars within range. I have some issues with constipation and definitely need to use a little help to keep things moving. Occasionally, I have a headache for several hours after injecting. I have gotten a little bit of a sour stomach after some meals, but not bad. I have lost a little weight, not a lot, but I’m not in a hurry to lose. I think I’d probably lose more at a higher dose. My last HbA1c was 5.3, and I would like to get it lower. I had more stomach trouble at the higher dose. I'm glad that I’m on it. An injection once a week is better than daily."

Tirzepatide for Type 2 Diabetes "I am very happy with the weight loss (35 lbs). I generally tolerate it well. Upon each increase, side effects returned but were manageable. The benefits certainly outweighed the few side effects and brought my A1C down to 5.2. Side effects: rapid heartbeat, nausea, headache, acid reflux, belching, and stomach upset."

Tirzepatide for Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "I started using Mounjaro in March 2023, with a 2.5 mg dose, for weight loss. I shifted to 5 mg after 2 weeks; I stayed with each dose for around 2-3 months. I lost 10 kg by August (6 mo.). I had a freeze in weight loss for 5 weeks, then I lost 1.8 kg in 2 weeks when I took 10 mg. In terms of side effects, I experienced them during the first weeks of every upgrade in dose; like nausea and sometimes vomiting, headache, stomach pain, constipation and diarrhea, laziness, body ache, mood change; the worst was with 10 mg. As I have urticaria, I experienced an allergy at the needle site after week 10, which resolved in 3 days every time. This week I have pelvic, vaginal, and lower abdominal pain similar to period pain, although I have been menopausal for 4 years! I am happy about the results with minimal side effects."
