For Underactive Thyroid "I started taking NP Thyroid in June. For the first week, I felt great, but then I started to notice some of the pills had a terrible odor, and the taste was worse. I have cats, and they smelled like cat urine, as well as my urine. Not every pill had the odor, but the ones that did, that I took, caused me terrible stomach cramps. Then, as time went on, my hair loss was terrible, constipation was 5 days, anxiety, depression, severe fatigue, it all came back as well as hot flashes. I let my doctor know, and he wanted me to have blood work before he made any changes, so after 5 weeks, I had blood work. I got it back, and my T3 was high, TSH low, and T4 was good. Before the blood work, I had blood work done, and the levels I just mentioned were all in range. I stopped it immediately. Unfortunately, my doctor is on vacation, so I can't get any meds like LDN, which worked wonders for me in the past. I am so exhausted I can barely function. I would not recommend this medication to anyone."

For Underactive Thyroid "Armour Thyroid for many years with no issues. Armour became difficult to get, and a couple of years ago my doc switched me to Nature Throid. I had no issues. About a year ago, my prescription was filled with NP Thyroid. Since then, I've had horrible body aches, brain fog, depression, and bad anxiety. I literally thought I was going crazy! I've always been happy and outgoing. After many, many days of researching, I found comments and reviews that stated people on NP Thyroid feeling the same way I was. I've now been off all thyroid medication for over a month, and while tired, constipated, and other normal hypothyroid symptoms, I feel better. No longer crazy, anxious, and depressed. My body hurts some, but nothing like when taking this stuff. My doctor has now prescribed Nature Throid again, and I will start it tomorrow. I'm looking forward to getting my life back, laughing again, and being able to think and function. Stay away from NP Thyroid!!!!"

For Underactive Thyroid "NP caused my heart to race and anxiety to happen. Never in my life did I have anxiety, so that was a real surprise. Fatigue never went away. Now that it has been recalled, I don't know what Dr. will put me on."

For Hashimoto's disease "I was on levothyroxine for over 2 years and had constant palpitations, anxiety, and heat intolerance. Thyroid levels were WNL [within normal limits], saw a new endo who let me discontinue because my initial TSH was under 10. After 3 months of no meds, I had zero energy and all of my muscles and joints hurt. Started NP Thyroid, and I feel so much better, but I am gaining weight, about 6 lbs so far and don't seem to be plateauing."

For Hashimoto's disease "So I have had Hashimoto's since I was 16, and I'm now 30. I was taking levo and Nature-Throid for a while. Lost my insurance in 2020, so I was unmedicated until recently. I was excited to get my health back on track with this new pill since apparently Nature-Throid was discontinued. The first 2 weeks were fine, nothing unusual. Then out of nowhere, I started feeling tightness around my chest as well as a swelling pressure in the front of my throat...where my thyroid is. I have had this illness for 14 years and have NEVER felt my thyroid until now. It's been two weeks of these side effects, and I have had awful anxiety about having to go to the ER. Honestly, if I had better insurance, I would have by now. I stopped taking the meds a few days ago, and it has gotten better, but not 100% yet. Chest issues are scary. Going to the doctor in a few days, and hopefully being switched to something else."

For Thyroid Cancer "I was on Nature Throid for years. When they stopped making the Nature Throid, I was switched to Thyroid NP. I thought I was going crazy. I was horribly depressed, had constant anxiety from the time I woke up until the time I went to bed. All day long, every day consisted of battling constant panic attacks. My heart was constantly racing. I called my doctor, who then prescribed antidepressants, which I couldn't take. They also gave me horrible side effects. So I started trying to figure out what was wrong with me because I am normally not depressed at all and an extremely happy person. I ended up in the ER, who switched me to Armour. Since day one of the switch, my anxiety is almost gone. My heart stopped racing. I have not had one single panic attack, and I am no longer depressed. I don't know what is in this medication, but it was awful, and I wouldn't take it again even if it were the only option. Stay away from this medication if you can!! Most horrible, awful experience of my life!"

For Underactive Thyroid "They prescribed me NP Thyroid 30 mg and gave me testosterone pellets. I felt okay, then three weeks later I was very active. I could actually be productive during the day. But then slowly all that energy turned into anxiety. I couldn't rest. I caught myself ready to argue with anyone at any time. I felt such intensity, the negative kind. So I asked the doctor to switch brands because what I was feeling didn't seem normal to me. Also, my blood test showed even lower thyroid (meaning the medicine wasn't working) and that I needed a testosterone booster. They switched me to Armour. The first week I was crying uncontrollably. I had a breakdown at work. It was ridiculous, and then another breakdown for no reason! My boss thought I was crazy. I've been on Armour for two weeks now. This second week they gave me a higher dose (45 mg), and I don't cry anymore, but now I feel tired, like I'm on caffeine all the time. You know how caffeine keeps you awake but still has that tired feeling in the background."

For Underactive Thyroid "I started BHRT and Thyroid NP (60 mg) at the same time. Nine days after starting, had to call an ambulance because I thought I was having a heart attack or stroking out... horrible chest pressure, uncontrollable shaking, heart palpitations, dizziness, pain shooting up into my neck and jaw, left arm numbness. I told my doc that I think I had a reaction to this medication, but she didn’t think it likely. She told me to reduce the dosage of this and then increase it every couple of weeks. Started back at 15 mg, then 30 mg, and now 45 mg. Have been feeling like rubbish... mood swings, irritability, fatigue, and more recently really bad anxiety. Thought it was my hormones trying to balance out. Was getting frustrated because I thought the BHRT was supposed to make me feel better, but I just felt like rubbish all the time. Now I realize it may have been this medication this whole time causing me problems!!! Going to stop taking it. Very healthy and athletic prior to taking this. Now I feel like a mess."

For Underactive Thyroid "Felt great on it for the first two weeks, nails grew, my hair didn’t fall out. Then I started having severe anxiety, dry skin, waxy growths on my forehead, and strange veins appearing on my legs. I’d snap at the drop of a hat and have fuzzy thinking. I stopped and switched back to Levothyroxine, still dealing with the initial hair loss of starting Levo, but I’m so much happier, more energetic, and not moody. Leg veins have disappeared. I’d never recommend T3 or NP Thyroid to anyone."

For Underactive Thyroid "Oh my goodness, do not take this. Started it and felt amazing and boundless energy. I noticed I had a bump on my forehead the same day I started the meds. I thought nothing of it. Went to my dermatologist and said that it is a skin cyst and nothing to be concerned about. After a week, I started to feel weird-still had lots of energy but had anxiety, heart beat was fast intermittently, and I just felt off. Woke up one night in a panic, I felt like I was dying and losing my breath. I felt like I was having an out-of-body experience. Hubby said I woke up yelling, “I don’t feel good” over and over. I don’t take it now, and as soon as I stopped, the bump on my forehead was gone. I’m still not sure if it was a weird side effect from the NP Thyroid or just a coincidence, but I have never had a skin cyst before. I would never take this again."

For Hashimoto's disease "Not sure yet how I feel after a week. I feel jittery (not sure if that’s a word)... almost like I can’t do anything right. Scared, emotional. But I do like that I feel less sleepy, no headaches from it. So hoping once it gets in my system good, this feeling will go away."

For Hashimoto's disease "Stopped responding to Tirosint after a couple of years, dose was pushed up to the point tipped me towards hyperthyroidism - along with a lot of life stressors at once became clinically hyperthyroid. I was waking up shaking with anxiety and had full-on mania, requiring tons of diazepam to get to baseline of rational thought. Switched to NP 60 and feeling well 6 weeks in. I’m less stressed out, better energy, less joint pain, much less back pain, more focused (less brain fog), have been a bit apathetic, but I’m an excellent procrastinator. Everyone is different, and endocrine diseases are difficult to stabilize. I have multiple autoimmune diseases and chronic migraines. Still early days on NP. My last labs I was hypo (3 weeks off Tirosint and prior to starting NP). I’ll see what the labs say, but so far so good. “He who tastes knows.” All reviews are anecdotal, not empirical. Make your medication choices based on what you and your physician think is appropriate for you, not someone else."

For Underactive Thyroid "Took Synthroid from age 29-50. Felt okay but had osteoporosis on a bone scan. I was told Synthroid caused the osteoporosis. Started on Armour thyroid and felt fine with normal labs. My osteoporosis reversed to osteopenia. Went to a new doctor in 2021 (age 69) who refused to prescribe natural thyroid. Started back on Levothyroxine. I now feel terrible. Not sleeping, short of breath, weight gain, jittery, palpitations. My dose was lowered from 137 to 75 mcg. Still don't feel good. Finding a doctor to start natural thyroid again. My particular bottles of natural thyroid were never on the recall list. Synthetic thyroid is cost-free for me. Natural stuff not covered. I have one half of my thyroid due to partial removal at age 28. Rating below is for WP or NP thyroid."
