VESIcare (solifenacin) "I am a male with overactive bladder. Initially treated for prostrate problem, as usual for men, but I have no prostrate difficulty. Asked Dr. for Vesicare, afrter reviewing symptoms on internet sources. Vesicare is targeted at women by the drug co. Astellas, but I had the same symtoms. Started with the 5mg dose, and my symtoms significantly improved within first few days. Severe bathroom urges every hour or two. Woke up to pee several times at night, sometimes every 2 hours; miss a bathroom, and pee in pants. A week later after starting Vesicare, get up once a night, or not at all, and bathroom visits are once in 3-5 hours. Wow, got my life back. Only nasty side effect is constipation, cured by taking pill less frequently than daily."

VESIcare (solifenacin) "I have been on different medications for the past year to treat overactive bladder. I would also be unable to make it to the toilet before I needed to empty my bladder. I have been on Vesicare for 3 days. Fantastic, I cannot believe the difference. No more embarrassing moments, I am dry all day and night. I can make it to the toilet in time. I am no longer waking up throughout the night needing the toilet. No side effects also which I found with all the other medication I have tried. I was considering surgery but I don't think i will need to have surgery now."

VESIcare (solifenacin) "I took Vedicare for 4 months. Vesicare did improve my overactive bladder and the urinary urge did decrease. I did not immediately experience side effects except some constipation and reduced stool frequency. I also started getting full nights of sleep without waking to use the loo. That’s the positive part.... After 2 months i started getting occasional liquid diarrhea and then bouts of constipation lasting 3-4 days, then again liquid diarrhea. Throughout this time lots of gas and cramping. The symptoms were on-off. Then after 3 months I experienced continuous liquid diarrhea and gas/cramping after every meal. During the space of 30 days I lost over 5kg in weight, and had fatigue and very cold feet and hands. I stopped Vesicare immediately and normal bowel movements restored with 5 days. The fatigue and cold extremities have gone also. My conclusions: the Vesicare drug works but the side effects are intolerable on a significant portion of patients including myself."

VESIcare (solifenacin) "Had overactive bladder for sometime. VESIcare 5mg really helped this. Unfortunately I’ve had to discontinue as caused the most awful dry mouth and throat. After around 2 months on the VESIcare I got a bad sore throat and initially thought it was an unrelated infection. My throat, mouth and tongue then got red sore patches and ulcers. I can only think the VESIcare is to blame because it completely dried out my mouth and throat. Stopped the medication 3 days ago on the advice of my Doctor. I have a relative on this medication and she is absolutely fine on it. So - different for everyone"

VESIcare (solifenacin) "Over the past few years I have tried all the medication for a overactive bladder that is available through my doctors. This medication for me is the best one, it works really well and I have no symptoms of an overactive bladder and helps with my bladder leaking. The only reason I did not give it 10/10 is the side effects dry mouth, thirst, and I do feel very tired when taking this tablet."

VESIcare (solifenacin) "Please be very careful taking this drug and monitor your blood pressure. I took Vesicare twelve years ago (for about five years) 5mg. It really helped by OAB. I stopped as symptoms went away. Recently had bad UTI, and after infection was over, I was left with residual frequency, pain, urethra burning. Tried Vesicare again 5mg and immediately felt my blood pressure increasing during the day. Middle of the night had to be taken to ER. BP was 197/120 and heart rate 130. ER confirmed that Vesicare was culprit. I was able to handle the drug in my 30s but now that I am close to 50 it did not work with my body."

VESIcare (solifenacin) "I am a 27 year old female. I started noticing that I was going to the bathroom on average 12 times a day. I was losing sleep because I would get up 2 or 3 times a night, at work I was constantly running to the bathroom what seemed like every hour. I went to my obgyn who gave me a test and started me on 10mg of Vesicare. Within the first day I saw instant results. I have been taking it for over a month and about 2weeks ago I started to have severe abdominal pains, constipation and lower back pains, as well as light colored poop. I lowered my dosage to 5mg and everything seemed to get better until today. Same severe side effects again. I had to stop taking it."

VESIcare (solifenacin) "I took this for 13 days, it did seem to help with the incontinence somewhat but the side effects are horrible. Severe dizziness, blurry vision, eye pain/headache and eye dryness, heartburn (something I have never had) , extreme tiredness, muscle aches and confusion. I have been off the medication for 3 days, some of the side effects have stopped but the aching and dizziness are still a problem. I wonder how long they will take to go away."

VESIcare (solifenacin) "I am only 26 and was going to the bathroom every hour, and sometimes every half an hour during the day. I took Vesicare for 7 months and saw a decent decrease in the amount of trips to the bathroom. However, I was often constipated, bloated, had a headache, and experienced a change in eye prescription. I stopped taking the medication and switched to another. It took 6 months before my eye prescription stabilized to where it had originally been before Vesicare."

VESIcare (solifenacin) "I've taken Vesicare for 3 weeks now and my overactive bladder has improved significantly. Before I was back and forth to the bathroom all day at work and nights were the worst. 5 to 6 times throughout the night had my life completly messed up. So far I think I've only experienced dry mouth and I'm hoping that's all I experience because this medicine has changed my life."

VESIcare (solifenacin) "Taking Vesicare for overactive bladder and bladder irritation. I have been on this for over one year. It helped somewhat for the overactive bladder and irritation. Makes my mouth very dry and blurred my vision pretty bad. I don't know if I will continue this medication as I do not think the side effects are worth it. Also made me BLOATED."

VESIcare (solifenacin) "I've been struggling with nocturia and an overactive bladder for years. I've been taking vesicare 5 mg for two months after it was prescribed for me by a urologist here in Iraq. No side effects at all. The drug is working and helping me a lot, but slowly, and some OAB symptoms are still there at the night, but they are greatly reduced. I can now sleep much better than before. Vesicare is very good and effective but it takes some time to kick in."

VESIcare (solifenacin) "Took Vesicare 5mg for 6 days. Side effects were terrible. Dizziness, dry mouth, blurred vision, coughing, burning on urinating and worst of all crippling chest pains. Felt like I was going to peg out! Stopped taking the tablet immediately and it took 3 days to get back to normal. Off to see the GP again to see if there is anything else I can try."

VESIcare (solifenacin) "Started with 5mg dose of Vesicare, later on, jumped on 10mg dose to help with peeing problems. In the beginning, it helped a lot, but after a few months my body got used to it and now problems are coming back. So overall it does the job, but unfortunately, the effect is temporary."

VESIcare (solifenacin) "My doctor wanted me to switch from Detrol LA to Vesicare to see if it controlled overactive bladder better. For a couple of days, it seemed to. I was going less often and the flow was strong. Then the Vesicare started irritating my prostate and I felt discomfort and/or burning much of the time. I took an OTC painkiller to ease that, and it helped somewhat. Then, after about 2 weeks' use, I started getting mild headaches and severe neck pain. It felt as though I had been bitten by a wasp, but the pain didn't subside like an insect bite. The pain was in the nerves, not deep in the muscle. I also developed dry mouth early on. I am stopping taking the Vesicare and will return to the Detrol LA, which never caused a problem."

VESIcare (solifenacin) "Took this medication for two weeks. Did nothing in reducing OAB. Had horrible reaction of severe DROWSINESS! Was so bad I almost went to sleep in traffic a couple of times before I realized what was causing me to feel that way. Lost all my energy and gumption to get anything done. Just wanted to sleep. Then week two I got to where when I went to the restroom, I would just sit there. I could not start a flow without thinking about it for what seemed like five minutes. I stopped taking and called my doctor. Calling in another medication to try. I pray it works without all the side effects!"

VESIcare (solifenacin) "Worst medication I've probably ever had! Was only on it for about 11 days, and started to get urinary retention - so decided with my doctor to stop it. Once I stopped it, a couple of days later I had the worse overactive bladder symptoms I've ever had. Was up till 5 in the morning just peeing every 5 minutes for hours! Which obviously made me very dehydrated and anxious. I'm thinking it must have been my system trying to clear out the meds or something! I know it's different for everyone, but I would deffo recommend an alternative medication, or check out posterior nerve stimulation which is potentionally more of a long term solution rather than taking meds! I have been referred by my doctor for this so just waiting now!"

VESIcare (solifenacin) "I have had problems for years, with urine leakage/having to go to the bathroom a lot and not being able to hold it. Last year, the doctor that I was seeing had suggested that I have surgery to correct the problem. I would have had to be off work for 6 weeks. I've been on Vesicare for just over a month and it's a lifesaver. I started seeing results almost immediately. Now, instead of having to go to the bathroom every few hours (I drive a para-transit bus) and not being able to make it to the bathroom in time, I go maybe 4 times a day. I would recommend it to anyone that was having problems with overactive bladder. The coupon, that my pharmacist includes, also helps....thanks! My husband says thanks to."

VESIcare (solifenacin) "I was pleased with the results (Doctor samples) but, when I got a prescription, I was flabbergasted by the price. Average cost for 5mg is over $300.00. None of my current 3 month supplies are anywhere near this price. I would have to increase my Medicare plan to a 4 tier plan which would cost an additional $99.00 per month......no savings there. No thanks.......I cannot fathom why the pharmacuetical companies charge so much or how they get away with it."

VESIcare (solifenacin) "This medication changed my life! I started taking it at age 72. Before then, I thought I was going to have to be housebound, never traveling, never shopping, etc. I started taking the smaller dose and it is working just fine. My only side effect is dry mouth at night but discovered that if I wake up with it, I suck on an ACT lozenge, which immediately alleviates the problem. I did discover through reading the info on this page that it is probably the cause of mild indigestion I've had, probably starting about the time I started taking Vesicare, but I take a Zantac a day and am fine. Oh, the medication started working almost immediately. I would hate to be without my Vesicare, even though it is quite expensive. But it's worth every penny."

I suffered for 3 years before going to the doctor because I was sure I'd have to have surgery or some horrible procedure done. I wish I had gotten this medicine 3 yrs. ago!"
