For Post Traumatic Stress Disorder "Best thing that has ever happened to me. I suffer from anxiety and post-traumatic stress disorder. At first, I wanted to stop taking it because the side effects were too much, as in tiredness and nausea. Once I had been taking it for a month and a half to 2 months, I have no side effects and I have a significantly better quality of life. I take 100 mg and I slowly increased and found it was a good spot for me. For a while, I had the shakes and it bothered me, but those are gone now too and I have been on it for about 5 months. With therapy and Zoloft, I am a much happier and less anxious person. Keep trying and keep taking the medicine. It's worth it, I promise. I am 19."

For Post Traumatic Stress Disorder "I had been on and off Lexapro for years for generalized anxiety disorder. I had weaned off of it when I became pregnant with my 2nd child. Three weeks after giving birth to her, she was hospitalized for viral meningitis for three weeks. I never left her side, and the experience scarred me. My fear of germs/sickness was always with me. I even had panic attacks driving into the same city where the hospital stay was. I had started back on Lexapro, but it made me so tired, so I ended up stopping again (no one needs to feel extra tired with a toddler and newborn!). My beloved PCP convinced me to try 50 mg Zoloft. At first, I took it at night (because that’s when I took my Lexapro), but I would wake up in the middle of the night, wide awake with a nervous/anxious/can’t turn my brain off feeling. I switched to taking it in the morning and have never felt better! She upped my dosage to 75 mg, and I feel like I am me again. Not some paranoid mom that freaks out over any sniffle, cough, sneeze, etc., my children may get."

For Depression "I had social anxiety and depression and some OCD thoughts, but on Zoloft after the first day taking it, I had a clear mind, and I feel free and in control of my life. Some side effects, though mild for me, were feeling tired on the first day only and not being able to fall asleep at night, but overall no side effects over here. But I am only on day 2."

For Depression "I started taking Zoloft in October of 2011. Although it has helped me tremendously with anxiety, depression, and severe mood swings, it makes me very tired and withdrawn. I've gained 20 lbs since October 2011! I haven't seen a lot of reviews with this type of side effect for Zoloft, but I know I'm not overeating to that degree. I've gained 3 lbs since my doctor visit last week. My doctor lowered the dosage by 1/2. But needless to say, the weight gain is more depressing than anything."

For Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder "I was put on Zoloft to regulate my moods as my hormones were very off-kilter with extreme highs and lows. The medicine started taking effect within a week, and now I feel very calm and relaxed all the time. The only side effects are that it leaves me extremely tired, and also with a bit of cotton mouth."

For Social Anxiety Disorder "I have been taking Zoloft for almost two weeks now. First time on an antidepressant. I was nervous starting it due to what I heard about side effects. My anxiety has gotten bad, and every day is a struggle. When I started taking Zoloft, I did notice right away side effects. Mainly, my arms felt really warm right after taking it for the first few days. The first few days, my stomach was pretty upset, nauseous, dizzy, tired, and weak. I was in bed for 3 days. After a few days, my symptoms got better. I feel a lot better. My stomach is still a little sensitive, and when I wake up in the morning, I’m a little shaky, but it goes away. I still feel pretty tired, but I am noticing a change in the way I feel. My anxiety is starting to decrease, and I am starting to feel more normal. I gave this an 8 due to only being two weeks. I’m seeing positives so far, but I know I still have a few weeks to go until the drug completely takes effect, and as of right now, my anxiety is still there. I am hopeful for the future, though."

For Panic Disorder "Stick with the medicine, it truly does take 6-8 weeks for your body to adjust. I take 75 mg in the morning (keeps me up at night with RLS), and my anxiety is under control, and I am able to go on with life and my day-to-day activities. The side effects I had in the beginning of being tired, RLS, yawning excessively... did go away with time, and now I experience none of those things."

For Major Depressive Disorder "I’ve been taking 50 mg of Zoloft for a year and 2-3 months now. I’ve had depression for a while and only started medication recently. Before Zoloft, I was on Wellbutrin for about a year. I switched after ending up in the hospital. Both made me feel numb, which I guess is better than crying and crushing sadness all the time? Lol. Zoloft, unlike Wellbutrin, has killed my sex drive. I think it helped with my depression, but it’s hard to say. I started taking it after leaving a horribly abusive relationship, so I can’t say for sure if it was the Zoloft that made me feel better. I didn’t have any side effects in the beginning, but for the past 6 months or so, I’ve been feeling exhausted all the time. I’m weaning myself off now because I want to try and feel joy, have great sex, and not be so tired all the time. We’ll see. It’s different for everyone, and I’ve heard many success stories. If it’s gonna keep you here and keep you going, definitely give it a try."

For Social Anxiety Disorder "After trying a few SSRIs that didn't work (Paxil, Lexapro) and a very bad stint with Remeron (ended up collapsing one night on my 3rd week, all the while my sleep was getting worse). Withdrawals from Remeron put me in a black hole. I nearly gave up. Started Zoloft and Ativan 1 mg for sleep. Headaches, dizziness, and exhaustion for several weeks (could also be the underlying depression), but I finally got stable enough to leave my parents' house and get my life together. Medication didn't really help my sleep (no antidepressant has), but it did help my social and general anxiety. Marked somnolence and felt very apathetic on it. No lows, but no highs. Helped GAD/SAD but not depression. I'm sensitive to meds, and I tolerated this one well."

For Depression "Zoloft was great for controlling my depression, anxiety, and obsessive thinking. The side effects were not terrible, all but one of them went away in about a month. The ones that only lasted through the first month were: feeling tired and drained as well as an occasional but mild headache. However, the only long-lasting side effect was decreased sex drive, which unfortunately never subsided for me. The drive is still there, it just isn't as intense. This is a great medicine for depression, anxiety, and obsessive thoughts. If you haven't tried it, please do."

For Depression "I have Bipolar I with severe depressive episodes lasting up to 16 months. Zoloft was a last-ditch effort to improve my depression; I was formerly on Luvox and found it too sedating and less effective after being on it for over a decade. So far, I have had 15 days without severe depression after being on Zoloft for one month. I think it's working. I am tired, but I am not sure if that is the Zoloft or something else, as I am on several medications for psychiatric problems."

For Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder "My doctor switched me to Zoloft. I was taking bupropion for about 5 months, but it was causing me to be snappy and a lot of anxiety. So he switched me to Zoloft, it's been 3 weeks, and the first week and a half was the hardest. I had nausea, diarrhea, and tiredness. But it went away, now I'm only tired at times but feel way better. I recommend it."

For Panic Disorder "Well, I've been taking Zoloft for anxiety and panic attacks, 50 mg, for 7 weeks now, and it does work for panic and anxiety. I haven't had an attack, and my anxiety levels are pretty much as low as can be. My mind feels clearer, and I feel more relaxed and able to concentrate on things again. The only downside to taking this that I have felt is being tired a bit and being a bit lethargic and having less motivation to do anything. Also, I had very vivid dreams, but they can be good, so that's not a bad thing to deal with. Looking to go back to see if I can lower the dose if possible to help with the feeling of lethargy/less energy, but it does what it says, it stops panic and anxiety if you stick with it. I can relax again!"

For Major Depressive Disorder "For the past 9 months, I have had a mixed major depressive/anxiety episode. I have started therapy from the beginning of the episode, which helped me cope for a while, but it was going nowhere. Finally, I went to see a psychiatrist last week and was put on 50 mg Zoloft. Don't know if it's placebo or not, but I'm already starting to feel better. My anxiety level has gone down, and I'm feeling more clear-minded, level-headed, and hopeful. The first 4 days were hell because it was making me nauseated, bloated, and extremely tired and restless at the same time. On day 7 now, and I'm feeling great."

For Depression "Took Zoloft for depression and anxiety and was on it for about six months. It absolutely helped, and I felt less anxious almost immediately. But I stopped taking it due to increasing negative side effects. I have learned through my journey that other people's experiences of these kinds of meds are no real indication of how it will be for you personally. But sometimes it helps to share. Just take everything with a grain of salt. Zoloft negatives: constant yawning, the first three days you feel so unwell you think you'll never be okay again. Also, inability to have an orgasm, which lasted about three months, and then I was fine. Serious vertigo that got so bad I had to stop taking it. Tried venlafaxine and Prozac with better results."

For Postpartum Depression "Take this med! I promised myself I would come review this if it worked, and wow, does it work! I never realized how much I sabotaged my life before because of the anxiety I had on a daily basis. Anxiety had become a normal feeling for me. I had some severe postpartum depression that set in about 7-8 weeks post-baby. I had lost interest in everything, couldn’t connect with my baby, couldn’t sleep, was just wishing away time. I decided to see a psychiatrist, and she prescribed Zoloft. I expressed my fear for this medication, and she made me a plan to start at 12.5 mg until I could move on gradually to 50 mg. The first week was tough. My brain felt heavy, I had insomnia, was tired… But after the first week, all side effects disappeared. I'm one month in, and I am living life again. I’m enjoying everything, I am no longer anxious, I’m sleeping, I am enjoying motherhood, I am just a brand new person. Wish I had taken this medication years ago."

For Post Traumatic Stress Disorder "I started taking Zoloft 8 weeks ago. I was extremely stressed out and was suffering from PTSD due to a bad car accident. After about 1 1/2 weeks, I really noticed a difference. Not stressed anymore, but I do feel a bit zombie-like. I also have a problem with memory and focusing. Also really tired at night. Overall, right now, I guess it is worth the trade-off. Also have intestinal issues, but hope it will go away."

For Depression "I started to develop depression around puberty. Over the years, it became more and more intense. Some days I would cry and have to leave school. Around two years ago, my doctor put me on 50 mg of Zoloft. The first few weeks were a wreck, I had terrible nausea, was tired all the time, could barely eat, and some days I would experience a zombie feeling. After the Zoloft started to kick in, the side effects subsided. I went through bouts of not taking it, and then I would feel bad and start taking it again. Every time I went back on the pill, the stomach pains increased to where I would eat once every other day. Since then, I have been put on a new medication that I hope starts kicking in. All in all, Zoloft was amazing if you stick to it."

For Obsessive Compulsive Disorder "I've been taking 50 mg of Zoloft for OCD now for 9 days. I stayed off medicine and dealt with the OCD for a long time until I could not take it anymore. Since I have been on it, I've been improving every day, although I still do the same routines. I seem to have let some go, and the constant worrying all day, to the point where you are making yourself sick, has improved so much. I'm finally able to joke with my friends and not have to worry about something so irrational. So far, I'm very happy I started taking the Zoloft. The side effects that I get are sometimes randomly during the day, I can't stop yawning, along with being very tired, but I heard the sleepiness goes away after a few weeks. I've had a few headaches and dry, bloodshot eyes when I wake up."

For Social Anxiety Disorder "I really had a great experience with Zoloft. When I first started the medication, I was on cloud 9. I felt happier than I had in years. My anxiety improved dramatically. Sadly, as time went on (years into taking it), my body stopped responding as well. My Dr. raised my dosage - as high as 150 mg. At that dosage, I felt like a zombie. I was tired all the time, so I had to stop taking it. Still, the best SSRI I have tried..."

For Depression "I was prescribed Zoloft by my doctor to treat my depression/anxiety (small, 25 mg dosage), and after about 4 days in, I am experiencing all of the mild side effects, including insomnia, lack of appetite/motivation, foggy head, achiness, and exhaustion. I'm 19 and around 125 lb, was just wondering if anyone experienced anything similar? *aka is this normal and does it get better* (Note: it is more of a grieving depression due to the death of a parent. I believe my doctor said I'm going through some transition dilemma, so a low dosage is all I need)."

For Social Anxiety Disorder "I've been on Zoloft for 12 months. I've had social anxiety since I was 13 (I'm 22), but a year ago, I had a traumatic experience and constantly felt like my stomach was in knots. After 3 months of feeling that way, I went to a doctor and was prescribed 25 mg Zoloft. The initial side effects were being incredibly tired (it was hard to stay awake just driving to class), dry mouth, and anxiety for a short time. Eventually, I was at 100 mg/day and had lost about 12 lbs. I am on 75 mg now, have been for about 9 months, and have gained most of the weight back. Side effects now are absolutely no sex drive, and if I forget to take it, I have 'brain shivers.' I definitely would recommend it to anyone. I finally can talk to people without feeling my heart beat out of my chest."

For Panic Disorder "Zoloft is amazing! I read through these reviews a million times before I started Zoloft. I was so anxious about taking meds, I put it off for 2 years, but my anxiety and panic got so bad I knew I needed more help! Counseling and chamomile tea could only do so much. I started taking 25 mgs of Zoloft in the mornings, but I was so tired after I couldn’t go to work, let alone drive there. The side effects were pretty crap for the first week. On day four, I was so emotional I cried literally all day, not kidding, 8 hours straight of crying uncontrollably! I was tired, and I felt dizzy and just off, kind of like my brain was in a bubble. It was a chore to make myself take it every day, I had to psych myself up! After a week, I started taking it at night. After two weeks, all my symptoms stopped, I was far less anxious! 8 weeks in and I haven’t had a panic attack or been overly anxious at all. Zoloft changed my life. I’m a better mum, friend, and partner. I’m actually happy and enjoying life!"
