For Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder "I wish that I would have started this drug much sooner. I was very reluctant to take an antidepressant mainly due to stigma. I felt immediate relief from anxiety, paranoia, irritability, hopelessness, helplessness, suicidal thoughts, depression, and feeling out of control. I have had major symptoms for several years premenstrually, and it was premenstrual dysphoric disorder. I am very thankful for Zoloft, and I don't ever want to be caught without it. It is the best thing that has happened to me in a very long time. The side effects are very minimal, my side effects would include just feeling a little tired, some gas, and mild diarrhea at times. I would trade this any day for the problems that I was having before I started taking Zoloft. It truly has saved my life."

For Post Traumatic Stress Disorder "Zoloft pretty much saved my life. I was suicidal due to my trauma and many life failures. I hated the medicine at first, though. The adjustment period is horrible. I felt constipated, sweaty, sleepy, high, and dissociated from the real world. Once you get past that (it takes a couple of months), it is great. I am so much more relaxed now. I used to be very aggressive, and now I think about other people's feelings. Being depressed from my trauma, I was very tired. Zoloft made me more tired until I adjusted to it. Now it actually gives me energy."

For Post Traumatic Stress Disorder "I first used Zoloft in 1999 for post-traumatic stress disorder. At that time, I was on 50mg. It allowed me to function very well. Now I am being treated for major depression, anxiety, and PTSD. I started 50 mg 7 days ago, today I am to up my dose to 100 mg. The only side effect I have noticed is tiredness so far. The one benefit is I have not cried every day, which is a triumph as I had been doing that on a daily basis several times per day. Still am anxious about large crowds and overly watchful of my surroundings. I will post again after my check-up with my progress at the end of February. Good luck to you, and I wish you recovery, we all need that."

For Panic Disorder "I was terrified to try Zoloft! I read all the reviews and kept putting it off. Afraid I would suffer and afraid to give it a try. I was taking Klonopin, and my doctor cut it off. Told me to start taking Zoloft. I went through weeks of hell while I was debating on starting. I could barely drive, I was struggling with sadness and moods all over the place, and I finally decided I couldn't live like this anymore. I tried Zoloft starting at 25 mg for the first week - the only side effect I had was mild nausea and tiredness at first - after three days, it was hardly noticeable. The fear I had to start trying Zoloft kept me from feeling as good as I do now - I'm so grateful I tried it and hope anyone scared to will just do it. I'm glad I did."

For Major Depressive Disorder "I would like to share my honest review of Zoloft. I was depressed, anxious, and had tremendous amounts of social anxiety since my childhood. I had no history of substance abuse, I was in a foreign land, and at the age of 23, I was diagnosed with BPD. I was in therapy too, but it didn't help much. Finally, my psychiatrist prescribed 150 mg of Zoloft with a starting dose of 50 mg. The first 2 days were a nightmare, and later on, I stuck with the doctor's advice and gradually upped my dose to 150 mg. I started to love myself a lot after 75 mg, people around me started to notice a difference, and I'm a lot happier. It has now been 6 years on Zoloft, but I cut my dosage to 75 mg. I'm married and blessed with a kid. Cons: highly lethargic, weight gain was 20 pounds, and in just 3 months, I went bald."

For Depression "Before taking this, my hands and feet were always so cold, my depressing mood I just could not shake off. I was irritable and hopeless, like a drone, living day to day. I finally turned to my doctor for help. It surprised me to find out that my being cold, even in the heat of the summer, had to do with anxiety! Within the first day of taking this medication, I felt instant relief. The will to live flowed in my veins right down to my fingertips and toes. I feel alive again, no longer cold, no longer hopeless. I am happy to be me and so very thankful that this type of medication exists! It's obvious by this board that it helps a lot of people just like it helped me. One symptom: Yawning! So, I go outside for deep breaths of air."

For Social Anxiety Disorder "I started this two months ago to help with my light depression and anxiety problems as a long-term replacement for Xanax. So far, I haven't had to use my Xanax in almost a month. I didn't think this would do much, but I was wrong. The first two to three weeks, I had some mild nausea and tiredness, but that went away pretty quickly."

For Major Depressive Disorder "I’ve suffered from serious depression since I was about 11, but always refused treatment because I’m against any kind of drugs and I was afraid I would lose myself and become a zombie instead, and I didn’t want that. But now in my 30s, feeling very suicidal, waking up anxious every day, heart racing nonstop, always crying and not being able to do anything really without being panicky and ridiculously self-conscious, relationship failing because of my head, I was at the end. Started on 25 mg of Zoloft, and from the first day, no crying. No depression or anxiety, no reactive emotions anymore. From the first day. Didn’t think it would work from the first day, but it has, and I’m blown away I didn’t start this sooner. Side effect (very tired though) definitely worth it."

For Depression "I've been on Zoloft for 2 months for depression and anxiety. The reason I don't give it top grades is that I don't have anything else to compare it to. Started 1 week on 25 mg and then moved to 50 mg. The first two to three weeks, the side effects were the same people describe: headache, tiredness, stomach issues, death thoughts, lack of appetite. After that, the first sign was no more tears, less anxiety for eating, my emotions went away, social anxiety too, fear and death gone too. Calmness, ability to focus on the now, lower PMS, ability to focus and interact. Some days are still hard, but it takes less for me to cope with them. I didn't know life could feel this way. Side effects: lower sex drive and return of big appetite and weight gain."

For Major Depressive Disorder "My psychiatrist added Zoloft to my Adderall and Wellbutrin XL. It took two months for the Zoloft to take full effect. I started the Zoloft the last week of November and took till the middle of January for the full effect. In the beginning, I felt exhausted when I took it. I waited it out patiently. It's amazing when Zoloft kicked in with my Wellbutrin XL and Adderall. I feel calmer, happier, and more in control of my life and emotions. I think before I act, and my thoughts are so much clearer. It is great. I am bipolar II with ADHD. These medications may not work for everyone, but from my experience, I feel more in control of myself and my emotions."

For Panic Disorder "I've been on Zoloft since I was 21, and I'm now 31. One day I woke up with intense crying, depression, anxiety, fear of family and friends dying, and self-harm. My personality is one of a very happy-go-lucky girl, and I refused to live with this nightmare. So my doctor put me on 50 mg Zoloft. It took about a month for it to work, and I had the tiredness, yawning, feeling completely out of it, to waking up and feeling amazing. I have tried to come off Zoloft throughout the years, and man, the side effects suck! Intense anxiety, feels like your brain is exploding and vertigo. If you do decide to come off, make sure you're under the supervision of your doctor. To this day, Zoloft has helped me, and I will be on this for the rest of my life."

For Depression "Zoloft was the first antidepressant I tried, and it worked well enough that I stuck with it. The first 2-3 weeks were difficult. I found myself yawning constantly, extremely drowsy, having no appetite, nauseous when I did eat, thinking about doom and death. But those were side effects that all eventually subsided. I feel a lot better because I have more control over my emotions and anxiety. I cry much less now and don't lie in bed at night thinking about suicide as much anymore. I went down in dosage from 75 mg because I felt a little too muted, like things that were really supposed to bother me didn't, and the nausea on 75 mg really sucked. I was finding myself vomiting for no reason. 50 mg has been good to me the last 6 months."

For Panic Disorder "I was just like all of us on here looking through the comments, scared to death to start. I have had panic disorder, anxiety, and OCD issues for the past 5 years. I could not drive far, I never went to social gatherings, stayed home for work, and made every excuse for why I could not drive to the office. At one point, I could not even walk my dog down the street. I was always at the doctor's and the emergency room. I have been in therapy for 2 years. I finally gave up my tactics that were not working and started Zoloft. I was originally prescribed 50 mg, and I was supposed to titrate up to 100 mg. I started at 12.5 mg. I stayed on that dose for 3 weeks. I had awful side effects, and you will too. I was so tired and had awful headaches, nausea, and diarrhea. The worst part about it was it made my anxiety and panic go through the roof. I am now on 37.5 mg, and my anxiety and panic are almost gone. Take it. It’s going to suck at first, but it will change you for the better."

For Social Anxiety Disorder "I started taking Zoloft about three weeks ago. I have noticed various symptoms. I grind my teeth quite a bit, which brings on headaches. I yawn constantly, and I am always tired (even if I have eight hours of sleep). I have not experienced any weight gain as yet or any other symptoms associated with this medicine. I used to have panic attacks every second day, and I have not had one since I started taking Zoloft, which is a great outcome. I did get a bit panicky in a social situation two days ago, though I was able to control my emotions, so I didn't have a panic attack. So far, so good."

For Depression "I've been on sertraline generic for 2 weeks today, 50 mg first thing in the morning. I am on the UK brand name version, Lustral. For pretty much the first week, I slept fine on these, but then things started to change. On day 6, I felt really high and paranoid, but later euphoric. However, I have not experienced that same euphoria since. At the start of week 2, I noticed that they started making me feel drowsy for the first few hours after taking, and I find myself having to go back to sleep for a few hours in the morning. But when 11 pm comes, I don't feel tired. Yet I regularly wake now at 5:30 am. So I tried taking them an hour before bed instead, but then had an awful night's sleep. So I went back to taking them in the morning. Mentally, I feel bland, flat, emotionless, drained, and like I don't want to go anywhere because I'm so tired. Also, my social anxiety is worse because of these effects, and yesterday I started to feel a lot lower."

For Obsessive Compulsive Disorder "I recently got diagnosed with OCD (almost 2 months ago). My therapist suggested I start taking something to better deal with this issue and recommended a Zoloft dose of 50 mg per day. I can honestly say it changed my life for the better. Usually, antidepressants work for OCD patients to around a 40%-80% improvement rate, and I can proudly say I am one of the people with a higher percentage. When it comes to side effects, I do get a little bit nauseous, and I'm generally more tired, but apart from that, I feel much better, and my only concern at the moment is it stopping to work for me."

For Obsessive Compulsive Disorder "I've suffered from OCD for about three years. It was pretty bad but still manageable, but then, two months ago, it became unbearably horrible, my life was a nightmare. I would spend almost every waking hour ruminating about my obsessions while feeling intense anxiety. Then I began taking Zoloft. I was started on 25 mg, and I noticed some improvement within 5 days, and there was massive improvement within 9 days. I've been on it for a month now, and I'm at 100 mg. The OCD is definitely still here, but it takes up much less time, and I am able to ruminate without feeling intense anxiety. I didn't have any major side effects. At the beginning, I was yawning a lot, and I felt more irritable. There's also a lack of appetite, and I've lost 4 pounds."

For Panic Disorder "I was diagnosed with generalized anxiety disorder. I'm 33 years old and have a son. I would panic every time he wasn't with me. I would think of the craziest 'what ifs' that could happen. I got to the point I couldn't even drive on the highway because I might get into an accident. I was prescribed Zoloft at 25 mg for six weeks... I felt nauseous for a couple of days but was fine. Then I was put up to 50 mg for another six weeks. I was really tired and my anxiety spiked, but I stuck it out. Now I'm on 100 mg. Have been for 2 weeks. Not a single anxiety attack. I feel less tired but still get sleepy throughout the day. My son can be at school, out swimming, or doing other kid things, and my mind doesn't head straight to horrible what-if thoughts. Yay!!"

For Depression "Two days ago, my Zoloft dose was bumped up from 50 mg to 100 mg, as I was still not feeling 100%. The first day of taking the increased dose, I felt euphoric. The next day, I felt a step down from the day before. Today, I am feeling depressed and extremely tired. I have no energy to do anything. I have no symptoms of nausea at all, just exhaustion. I am hoping that this side effect goes away because it is very annoying and difficult to deal with when I have so much to do."

For Panic Disorder "I have had a panic disorder since I was 5. I think they called me a hypochondriac. I would have waves of panic attacks at different times in my life. In my 20s, I finally couldn't handle it anymore and got professional help. Every day I would have a panic attack with chest pains and trouble breathing. My doctor prescribed me Zoloft. I started at 25 mg and now I am at 50 mg. I haven't gotten a panic attack since 2 weeks of taking this. I am so much happier. I was at the point of just crying every time I would have a panic attack because I didn't know what to do. This has changed my life for the better. I haven't noticed any side effects, maybe I'm a little tired more often, but not bad."

For Post Traumatic Stress Disorder "I have been taking Zoloft for just over 2 years for post-traumatic stress disorder and depression. At my worst, I was on 150 mg, and this held me quite well, I was determined not to be on the full 200 mg. Initially, the shakes and the tiredness bothered me, but not as much as how I felt when I missed a dose. On every increase, I would have a day or two where my mind and mouth raced. This provided a few giggles. A huge improvement from crying and refusing to leave the house. Combining therapy and medication has helped me get my life back. I am now on the decrease as the masses of weight I have put on in a short period of time, my least favorite side effect, regardless of how much I exercise and how good my diet is. Just keeps adding on. Now 50 mg daily and doing well."

For Depression "I have constant mid-level depression and have also self-medicated this with marijuana. Helps a lot, but only if you smoke all the time. So, I decided to go to the doctor, and right away he started me off with 100mg Zoloft. I just tried this for the next month. The first 2 weeks, my emotions were uncontrollable: happy, sad, angry, numb, energetic, then tired. So then, after the 2 weeks, I didn't feel depressed really, but didn't feel happy either-just a neutral feeling. So, I stopped and decided medical marijuana works better for me."
