"I have PTSD and concomitant major depressive disorder from being a paramedic. My Dr. prescribed sertraline, starting off with a 50 mg dose. No noticeable difference. My dose was increased to 100 mg, which worked well enough for a while. Decreased intrusive thoughts/images, almost no olfactory flashbacks, no panic attacks. However, like most other people, my libido was completely wiped out, insomnia hit me hard, and I became incredibly paranoid, believing my husband of 23 years was cheating on me (he wasn't and has never). Unfortunately, it seems that my body has adapted to it, and my symptoms are coming back. I would say for me, it's an okay short-term drug (6-12 months) but definitely not a long-term solution. Other than that, there were no contraindications with my other medications (ivabradine, propranolol, flecainide, Celebrex, aspirin, diazepam, paracetamol SR)."

"I was prescribed this med last spring (over a year ago). I am professionally diagnosed with PTSD, OCD, depression, ovary issues, and severe anxiety attacks. These were diagnosed prior to being on Zoloft. It helps me feel less in need of doing things now with my OCD 'rituals.' My ovary issues are getting better. It does also help with social anxiety for me. I'd like to say and point out that I heard of a lawsuit going on with Pfizer on this med, and I'm very upset about that. First off, if you're going to become pregnant, any doctor should tell you not to be on anything except for prenatal vitamins. It's the doctors getting the money for prescribing the meds, don't let that fool you. If you are nursing, pregnant, or want to have a baby, do without!"

"I've been taking Zoloft 200 mg every day for about 1.5 years now. I was lucky because I've never had any real side effects from it, and I jumped up 50 mg at a time pretty quickly. It took at least 2 months for me to notice any changes in my unstable mood. Recently, unfortunately, it feels as though Zoloft has lost its effectiveness, and I'm feeling pretty awful again. I don't feel depressed, I just feel unbelievable anxiety, paranoia, stress, rage, disconnection from reality, etc., which is why I was taking it. Although the stuff is like water for me, it barely does anything, although initially, it helped take the edge off a little bit. Everyone's different, so you'll react differently. There's no way of knowing unless you try it."

"So I've had severe panic attacks, anxiety, and depression from losing my mother in 2010. I had tried others before taking Zoloft, and they weren't as good as taking Zoloft. I have finally stopped taking it because it has made me gain so much weight. I was 135 lb when I started and am now 200 lbs, but other than the major weight gain, it has helped me. The withdrawals are pretty bad currently, but I'm hoping that now that my life is in order and great, I can do it without it. Just wanted to tell my experiences."

"125 mg of Zoloft a day has been a lifesaver for me. I was hospitalized for disorganized thoughts, panic, a flat affect (lack of emotions), and an inability to function. My brain was so messed up it was a struggle to do easy things like order off a menu or hold a conversation or stay awake. My brain kept getting cloudier, and I believed there wouldn’t be a cure until I was put on this medication. Suddenly, everything stopped getting worse. Slowly, in the next few weeks, I felt better, less panicked and depressed, no more thoughts of suicide, more clear thinking. Luckily, I have had no side effects at all, only slight nausea when starting. I will say that the downside is that after a few months, I found the medicine no longer made me happy but instead just made me numb. It’s still a lifesaver, but I’ve had to add other medications to treat my depression. It also helped a lot with OCD, though, basically curing my OCD."

"Started taking Zoloft on September 8. The first month was very tiring with headaches. October: headaches and no appetite that persisted until the third month. Had some hair loss and diarrhea for a month or so in December. Then I had nausea and bad brain zaps around February 9. That was when I was fully off for a week. January: I was taking half dosage the whole month. Now it’s April, and I still have a few dull brain zaps when I’m really tired or if I cried. Plus the sexual side effects did not go away. Decreased libido, and I don’t feel horny anymore. There’s literally not the same feeling as before I started taking the medication. Not as much natural lubrication either. The doctor that gave this to me told me nothing about it but gave me a printout. Always ask what medications your doctor is supposed to be upselling before accepting ANY. ALWAYS look at the warnings. Sadly, this did not work, and it’s taking me a long time to try to get back to a normal libido and mind again."

"I have IBS, so meds are a problem. I suffer from complicated grief and PTSD as a result of my loss. I finally consulted a psychiatrist because the primary care doctor was not knowledgeable enough. We tried five medications, at least. The best by far was Lexapro, but it made the IBS-D so bad it became dangerous. Now on 50 mg Zoloft generic after starting with half of a 25 mg pill and slowly working up. Just had a flare of IBS, so can't increase another half as the doctor prescribed until it settles down. At first, I thought it was working, not anymore. I can't sit still, a foot is always rapidly shaking, even if I wake up during the night. I feel really hopeless and like underneath the drug's effects I'm ready to scream. Have to talk to my psychiatrist doctor."

"Yo, so I was prescribed Zoloft for depression, adult major depressive disorder, and PTSD. It has only been a couple of months, so maybe I'm not one to judge yet. I guess I feel okay. Like I feel less extremely depressed, I'm still a sad girl though, and honestly, I feel like I could stop and feel pretty much the same. Although withdrawals are a bitch. There have been weekends where I have left my pills somewhere or not gotten a re-up from my doctor, and believe me, my boyfriend, friends, and family can all tell something is up when I'm not on my meds. I'm just quicker to react to shit and not really okay and feel kind of insane. I'm getting off Zoloft now. I wouldn't say it was bad, I just need more help. I didn't feel motivated to do anything ever. So... :/"

"Alright, so I've been on 100 mg of Zoloft for a while, and I'm supposed to start 200 mg tomorrow, and I'll be honest, it's done absolutely nothing for me personally so far. I'll be starting Risperidone and coming off this one. I've had no side effects as well as no positive effects whatsoever. It's a very weak medication, basically like drinking water. I guess if your symptoms aren't bad at all and you want an easy way out of your problems, then this could be the drug for you. These are the symptoms I experience and try to medicate: hypervigilance, jumpiness, sensitivity to sudden noises (like a door slamming shut), only experience emotional 'numbness' or anger/rage, cloudy mind, disconnection/dissociation/depersonalization, etc."

"I've been on Zoloft for anxiety/depression and panic attacks for a few months. It doesn't help much with panic attacks. I'm on the highest dose of sertraline and will be talking to the doctor about changing meds."

"This is my first time ever with an SSRI. I am a therapist myself and working with severe trauma in my clients, so I got burned out. I had about 8 negative side effects: inability to reach orgasm, extreme appetite, permanent jaw clenching and pain on the side of my tongue, diarrhea, headaches at night, exhaustion to the point of going to bed at 7 pm, muscle twitching, restless legs. I had my birthday, and I was having all these symptoms and couldn’t even enjoy! I wish I could just stop them in this second, but I know it’s not wise, and it could be dangerous. Never again. I just couldn’t believe it took away the most important thing in my life: my orgasms!!! I normally reach one in one minute with porn or my toys, and I also experience multiple. The pill took this joy away completely. I see reviews that say decreased libido, but I don’t see any story like mine. I would rather suffer all my life than have the best thing in life removed. What a shame!"

"Take this with a grain of salt, only took it once, but that once was enough. Took it at night, a few hours later became very restless and only got 3 hours of sleep that night. The next day, it was still there and came with fury. Muscle aches everywhere, body twitches, everything. Had to take 10 mg hydro to take the pain away, but still felt it even with that. Never taking it again, that pain was unreal."

"I started taking this only as a last resort medication because the reviews scared me. I halved my 50 mg into 25 mg, gave it a few weeks and before I knew what it felt like, I was making progress more than I was in 2/3 months. This medicine picked me up out of my depression and panic, but after a while, it felt like I was back to being stable, just negative to myself. I talked to my doctor and she recommended I stop taking the medication because I was on the lowest dose with bad thoughts, it wasn’t for me. I haven’t taken it since. Just my 0.25 mg Xanax for when I have a panic attack and I’ve been doing pretty good. I'm still getting back to my calm and 'normal' routine. I wouldn't take it if thinking about getting pregnant."

"I shared yesterday on here what I've been going through on Zoloft. Well, I just flushed them all down the toilet. I woke up with anxiety so bad all I could do was cry. This drug is gone out of my life. I will take the depression over this."

"Took 25 mg for PTSD and panic disorder. I'm a 23-year-old male, I was put on the lowest dose because I didn’t want any terrible side effects. Even at the lowest dose, I suffered almost all of them. No appetite whatsoever. I felt disassociated from reality. My mood was all over the place, and I got hot flashes and tremors. They say to stick it out and it all gets better, but how is that possible when you can’t even function for three weeks straight? My advice would be to not take Zoloft. It’s just not worth it, I would rather have panic attacks and deal with them normally. I was insane on that drug, literally crazy."
