For Type 2 Diabetes "Started with 3 mg, no effects. Then 7 mg. Hurt my developmental delay daughter's belly. But seemed to cut down eating. Sugar stayed the same. Two months on 7 mg, then tried 14 mg. Gave diarrhea a couple of days, hurt her belly. Sugar level same. Gave more diarrhea, and after a month, sugar levels same. Eating was cut down. Might have lost 5 lbs. But no menstrual cycle. Two weeks late. Took her off Rybelsus, and 6 days later, the menstrual cycle came back. Not for us. If it would have lowered sugar levels, I would have kept her on it."

For Type 2 Diabetes "I have been on this medicine for 2 months now. My doctor, for whatever reason, started me off on a 14 mg a day dose, which of course makes me sick to my stomach a lot. I have lost some weight, but I guess I have no other choice the way my stomach feels. Some days are a lot worse than others, but just the last several days, I have been battling diarrhea, and this is the newest side effect. I will have to say one positive is my sugar has been great, to the point I stopped taking glipizide altogether and just rely on the Rybelsus to keep it where it needs to be."

For Type 2 Diabetes "On Rybelsus for almost a year. My A1c has improved from an 8.1 to 7.2. However, I have not lost any weight as most people have. I have chronic constipation. My gastro advised a low fiber diet -- yes, low fiber -- and laxatives every other day. My daily numbers are all over the place. When I do finally have a bowel movement, I have stomach pain followed by diarrhea. Next time I go, I'll ask what alternative medicine I could try. I can't take metformin because after many years on it, I started to have stomach problems, and eliminating metformin helped greatly."

For Type 2 Diabetes "When my A1C went up to 7.6, I was put on 3 mg of Rybelsus for a month. I had no side effects, but no change in appetite or blood sugar levels. As soon as I started on 7 mg, I had diarrhea after my evening meal, with a lot of mucus. I was able to control that by eating a very small dinner, but after 4 days on the 7 mg, I developed red, very itchy patches in many places, which progressed to small itchy bumps all over. I have stopped taking it. In the short time I took it, it didn’t lower my blood sugar, cause weight loss, or decrease my appetite, but did cause bowel problems and an itchy rash."

For Type 2 Diabetes "Started on Rybelsus almost 2 months ago. At first, it did not bother me except for the diarrhea. I'm on 7 mg a day now, and I feel awful. No energy, severe stomach pain, nausea, diarrhea. Cannot even walk a short distance without starting to throw up. Calling my doctor to see if I need to go back on the 3 mg instead."

For Type 2 Diabetes "My doctor advised me to start with 3 mg for two to four weeks. She suggested if I was good at two weeks to up to 7 mg dose. I have been on 7 mg for 3.5 weeks and feel nauseated more often than not. I also bounce between diarrhea and constipation. Not sure how much longer I can do this. How long before these side effects lessen?"

For Type 2 Diabetes "I'm 46 and have had type 2 diabetes for 25 years (MODY1, which is hereditary). I've been through so many meds and gone through all the side effects, usually only switching meds when insurance stopped covering. Had great results with the others like it, but was having so many issues with supply, I tried Rybelsus. I don't even care about the supposed weight loss, haven't had any, actually gained. Sugars are through the roof and I can't stay out of the bathroom. Been on the 14 mg for 3 weeks and can't live like this. I'm sure I'm dehydrated, this med makes you not want to drink anything, water included. Luckily, I work from home. It's beginning to give me anxiety about whether I'll make it to the bathroom at night, multiple times. I'm quitting today. This is the worst med I've tried in my 20+ diabetic years. My 18-year-old son, who has the exact same hereditary type, hasn't had the explosive diarrhea, but it isn't working at all on his sugars either. Both of our A1cs have skyrocketed on this."

For Type 2 Diabetes "A1c crept up to 6.9. Started Rybelsus for a 30-day intro with fairly vague side effects of light nausea, constipation, and reduced appetite. Increased to regular 7 dosage and immediately side effects were extreme and awful. Constant significant nausea, abdominal discomfort, significant constipation, low energy. Almost no desire to eat, and if I did eat, even very little food caused even more discomfort that escalated. Food just sat in my stomach feeling heavy and sour. Heartburn and gas were constant. After just 5 days of a larger dose, I stopped the medication but with lingering side effects. After being off the drug for two days, I sustained immense abdominal pain like I have NEVER experienced that finally culminated in strange diarrhea. Too many intense and questionable side effects for me. Weight loss - by not being able to eat - not worth the escalating horrible side effects for me. I'll never take this drug again."

For Type 2 Diabetes "The benefits were great: low sugars and low appetite. Lost 10 in 3 months. However, I had side effects that did not go away: nausea, diarrhea, abdominal pain with gas. It became too much, and I stopped taking Rybelsus."

For Type 2 Diabetes "This gives you torturous abdominal pain that is so strong and diarrhea that you have no control over. I stopped taking this, I am sick as a dog. Low sugars are great, but other side effects are horrible."

For Type 2 Diabetes "This is my second go-round using this medication. It is the best that I've tried, and this time, I will stick with it. My side effects have been mild diarrhea and stomach aches. I did use a little weight, but I don't need to lose weight. I am an avid gym attendee and my diet is vegetarian, so Rybelsus will only be used for Type 2 diabetes."

For Type 2 Diabetes "My daughter is special needs, and her doctor put her on 3 mg, then 30 days later 7 mg. I could tell it hurt her stomach after dinner. But it did help her eat less. After 2 months, her A1C is still high. The doctor put her on 14 mg. She's still eating less and has lost 5 lbs. But her sugar levels are still too high. And she's had diarrhea a couple of days a month. She's on month two of 14 mg. If her sugar stays up after this 2nd month on 14 mg, I'll take her off."

For Type 2 Diabetes "I was taking 500 mg Metformin and still had high glucose levels, so two months ago I was put on Rybelsus in addition. Started on 3 mg and then increased to 7 mg after one month. The worst side effect I’ve had is severe bloating, gas, and nausea. Had some diarrhea as well. There are times I feel like my stomach is going to explode! It’s horrible! And things just don’t taste right to me anymore. It’s hard to enjoy any food because it just doesn’t taste good. I’m not sure if I want to keep taking this medication, so I’m going to contact my endocrinologist. It’s very hard to deal with all the bloating and gas. But my glucose numbers have improved."
