For Type 2 Diabetes "I started Ozempic at the end of March 2023 for overall better A1C control, weight loss, and reduction in cardiovascular risk. Started at 0.25 mg for the first week and increased to 0.5 mg since. For the first month, I had strong nausea, lightheadedness, and significant constipation with abdominal discomfort. I also felt very tired all day, which I found was due to not eating enough carbs daily, as Ozempic tends to significantly reduce the appetite. I stuck with it, and after one month at 0.5 mg, the only remaining issue is constipation, which I try to manage through over-the-counter laxatives and prescription medication once a day. Over two months, I lost 25 pounds (235 lbs down to 210 lbs)! My daily fasting blood sugar results are down 20-25 points from before starting Ozempic (A1C to be tested in one more month) and managing my energy level by ensuring enough carb and protein intake. So far, so good!"

For Type 2 Diabetes "Nauseous, can be reduced by eating smaller portions. Gas and belching, I use Gas-X and it helps. For constipation, MiraLAX helps. Weight loss, about 10%. At 1 mg on my to 2 mg. Still taking tablets and insulin for the best glucose control. Lowered my A1C by one (1) full point so far!"

For Type 2 Diabetes "On the plus side, Ozempic quickly began to lower my blood sugar, which metformin alone was no longer able to do, despite exercise & diet control, so that I was back into more normal numbers. I still take metformin. I had some constipation, but worked through that issue & mild nausea also appeared, but then disappeared. My overeating for stress & or boredom was much easier to manage, I thought about eating poor choices & then was able to push the thought away. The biggest challenge was fatigue, I often am feeling very sluggish & sleepy & have to push through chores like grocery shopping. I’ve lost 5 lbs in 2 months & want to lose 15 more lbs to achieve my goal, so I hope the fatigued side effect will diminish. Easy to learn how to administer from the instructions. I’m on 0.5 dosage & believe I will increase to 1 dosage within the month."

For Type 2 Diabetes "I have been on it for about a year now. So far, I haven't had much in the way of side effects. The only thing I have noticed is some nausea and reduced appetite, especially when I increase the dose. Constipation also has been an issue off and on. I have experienced the bonus of weight loss while on it, losing 27 pounds so far. It has definitely helped my blood sugar, as I have been able to reduce the amount of insulin needed by 6 units so far, and it is rare I need to use any shorter-acting insulin at all. Pleased with my results so far."

For Cardiovascular Risk Reduction "I have been prescribed Ozempic off-label in the UK for the last 5 months for weight loss purposes. At the beginning, the side effects were quite bad, but my prescriber gave me anti-nausea, acid reflux, and constipation relief with every prescription, which helped immensely. I no longer need to use any of these meds, as the side effects have gone, aside from occasional acid reflux. The side effects started to ease around week 8 for me, so consistency and perseverance are key. I have gradually titrated up to 2mg once a week, which is amazing for me. I can't eat as much as I used to, and I'm not tempted to binge as much. I have lost just over 2 stone. This is a MIRACLE DRUG for me, as no matter how much effort I put into exercising, I couldn't lose the weight. It's cheaper here in the UK to buy than it is in the US, but it's still costly to pay for monthly. For me, the cost is nothing compared to the sense of my physical appearance and feelings. I feel so much healthier and look so much healthier."

For Type 2 Diabetes "I have been on Ozempic for 7 weeks. I started at 0.25 mg and moved up to 0.5 mg after 1 month. I had some nausea but no vomiting. I have constipation. I started magnesium two weeks ago. It's working much better now. My A1C was 8.9 and I weighed 205 lbs. This morning my fasting blood sugar was 5.2 and I weighed 180 lbs. I find avoiding high-fat food helps with nausea. Also, eating even if you are not hungry helps as well. Just a little bit of something high in fiber and low in fat for me works great (All Bran cereal is my go-to). I am very pleased with the results, and the side effects have been manageable and decreasing as time goes on."

For Type 2 Diabetes "I have been using for 10 months proximately (0.5 mg). It has steadied glucose with less insulin (Lantus), and I have lost about 25 lb (started at 302 lb). I would like a higher dosage to help with the weight issue, as it's been very helpful with appetite reduction. The doctor has not raised it for fear of hypoglycemia issues. I've had no real side effects beyond occasional nausea and constipation. Slower movement through the gastrointestinal system gives me a rather hard-packed stool. I have consistently had flatulence since week one."

For Type 2 Diabetes "Type 2. Ozempic helped regulate my sugar, and I lost 30 pounds. I was on a dose of 1. So nauseous I couldn’t eat. After my money situation changed, my doctor was kind enough to give me some sample pens. The dose was 0.5. My symptoms decreased, and over the course of a year, I gained 1 pound. Then I moved and was told to take the 1 dose. Intense constipation and problems. I figured out how to take approximately a 0.5 dose, and things have improved. If you are sensitive to meds, be careful. Remember this drug is $$$$ and, if I didn’t need it, I would NEVER start taking it."

For Type 2 Diabetes "Serious stomach issues, cramping, bloating, severe constipation, nausea, no appetite, rashes, pain in the upper and lower bowel, gas. Loss of too much weight, no taste for food. Have had previous trouble with colitis and diverticulitis but still prescribed this medication. Only have 1 kidney and now afraid it may be damaged. I have been on this drug for approximately 7-9 months. Now worried, but the doctor is not concerned enough to take me off this medication."

For Type 2 Diabetes "Newly diagnosed with type 2, started with .25 for 5 weeks. Lots of waves of nausea, headaches, and overall discomfort. Week 5 did get better, the side effects lasted just a day or two after injection. .5 has been a 2-week nightmare. Extremely painful headaches, nausea, and now constipation. I am hoping there's a different med I can try that isn't so hard."

For Type 2 Diabetes "I unfortunately had a very severe reaction to Ozempic. I usually do suffer side effects from most medications, but thought I would give it a try. The first two weeks were headache, general stomach ache, and constipation lasting 2 days after each injection. Weeks 3 and 4 got worse. Stronger reactions, lasting longer. Week 5, I started the double dose, and I was pretty ill for 2 days. Week 6 and 7 was rough, but I thought I could ride it out. Week 8 had me in emergency twice for diarrhea, vomiting, headache, and major dehydration. I was unable to eat or drink anything. I had to get rehydrated and be given anti-nausea meds on both occasions. I guess my body slowed the release of food so much I had a massive buildup to the point even a sip of water made me extremely nauseous. Ozempic is not for me."

For Type 2 Diabetes "My doctor started me at the 0.25 mg dose for the first 2 weeks, then increased it to the 0.5 mg dose after that. Having taken the Byetta injections over 10 years ago (had to stop due to developing pancreatitis), using the Ozempic is similar, except for taking only once per week instead of taking several times a day with the Byetta. When I first started the Ozempic, I had nausea and constipation symptoms. At times, I still have some nausea, but it subsides quickly. After several weeks of being on the Ozempic, the constipation has decreased and I have developed a once-daily routine for bowel movements, which is okay by me... LOL. (Had my gallbladder out a year ago.) I have lost 14 lbs. since the start (over 4 months ago). I am still trying to regulate my diet to get the best advantage of the medication, but I work the night shift. I am happy with my Hemoglobin A1C levels, it dropped from 6.7 down to 6.2 in 1 month. Hoping it drops even further with the next lab work."

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "Works GREAT for weight loss, especially for binge eaters; has completely curbed my sugar cravings. But it definitely comes at a cost, especially as the dosage increases. The most consistent symptom throughout my 5 months on Ozempic has been severe constipation. The inability to down lots of water like I used to has only added to the constipation. Nausea has also been prevalent from early on but reached the point of unbearable after a few weeks on 2 mg. I started throwing up daily around that time as well, which was when the costs started outweighing the benefits. It’s an easy product to use and doesn’t hurt at all (surprisingly). Just know that for some, there are some pretty intense negative side effects."

For Cardiovascular Risk Reduction "I am not diabetic. My A1C was 6.2, it dropped to 5.7 by just cutting out regular sugar. My doctor asked if I wanted to lose weight and prescribed Ozempic. I have been taking the 0.25 for a month. For the first couple of days after an injection, I have slight nausea. I do have a feeling of being full. Constipation has been the big problem for me, but I take stool softeners. I don't know if I have lost any weight, I don't feel like I have. Also, after the nausea goes away, I pretty much eat like I always have. I go to the 0.50 this coming Friday and am hoping the higher dose will help with that. I will keep everyone posted about weight loss, etc. Good luck to everyone on their health/weight loss journey."

For Type 2 Diabetes "I have type 2 diabetes and I am obese. I started this medication in November 2023. I stopped using it for three months due to a shortage in the market in my country. I used 0.25mg for the first month, 0.5mg for the next three months, and 1mg for two months. The last dose of 1mg was taken on May 17, 2024. In November, I weighed 91kg, and I have reached 75kg or perhaps even less now. For my health, I feel significantly better while working or going upstairs. Regarding side effects, I experienced tiredness, vomiting, headaches, nausea, constipation, and stomach pain."

For Type 2 Diabetes "Been on it for 9 months, off metformin now and lost 30 lbs. A1C from 9.1 to 5.5. Still have nausea, abdominal pain, weakness, constipation, dyspepsia with the injection. I have these for 2-3 days after the injection. It did its job but not sure I can do it long term."

For Type 2 Diabetes "Recently started Ozempic .025 on Feb 21, 2021. I have taken 3 weekly injections. It lowers my sugar too much. I had extreme constipation & extreme nausea. I normally walk 2 miles every day, but while walking, my sugar bottoms out to 74. I have tried this on an empty stomach & full stomach. Same results. At night, my sugar drops to 74, sometimes twice a night. I wear this Libre2 sensor that goes off when my sugar drops below 75. My sugar has been on a rollercoaster for the last 3 weeks. My doctor @ the VA told me to stop the Ozempic. My last injection was 5 days ago."

For Type 2 Diabetes "Ozempic works for me! Metformin made me deathly ill. I started with the .25 dosage for 4 weeks. Increased to .50 for 4 weeks. And, I have been on the full dose of 1.0 for 3 weeks. With each dose increase, I experienced nausea 24 hours following the injection, that sometimes lasted 48 hours. But, as my body adjusted to the dosage, the nausea would subside. My doctor recommended taking magnesium daily to prevent the constipation. And, this works very well. I follow a 'casual' Keto diet (between 50-75 carbs a day) and practice intermittent fasting (eating within a 6-hour window, fasting for 18 hours). I've lost 35 lbs since June, down from ~298 to ~263. My blood sugar has dropped to normal fasting levels. I'm not on any other medications that could be conflicting with Ozempic. And, I truly believe the gradual increase in dosage to allow my body to adjust has been the reason for my personal success thus far. I have a low tolerance for synthetic meds, but Ozempic is working."

"I lost 20# in 5 months over a year ago and gained it all back in 6 mos. The top side effects then were nausea, constipation, bloating, and big hair loss, strangely starting a month after discontinuation and lasting 5 mos. Much hair grew back. I started up again a week ago and more, this time unbearable side effects. Horrible headaches at the base of my skull, acid reflux that chokes me and burns my throat at night, flashes of light and wisps of wind in my face at night, nightmares, hair coming out in swaths, erratic high BP (I have high BP, but it was under control before O.), bad joint pain (hips especially), extreme urinary incontinence (swelling down there with pee dribbling), and extremely emotional (incessant crying) just 5 minutes after injection. Five minutes after the second shot (second week), all the above that had “slightly” eased up came back full force! Husband again losing weight with doable nausea and blah feeling. *I have a lot of side effects to most meds."

I only moved up to the 1 mg dose due to the side effects. Side effects that I experience are nausea-especially the day after taking the shot-and constipation. It has worked as intended."

For Type 2 Diabetes "I started Ozempic ten weeks ago on the advice from my endocrinologist. I am a type 2 diabetic since 2005 and have been taking Metformin and injecting insulin (60 units per day). I was 115 kg when I commenced Ozempic. Prescribed for glucose control (which wasn't real bad at 7.1), but to help weight loss and blood pressure. I started at 0.25g, then 0.5 after four weeks, then to 1.0g in week nine. I am already down 6 kg to 109 and blood pressure easing gradually. I have also reduced my insulin from 60 units to 20 units per day. Side effects have been very mild, some slight constipation immediately after each dose and feeling a little nauseous after eating, although smaller portions have helped a lot. Also, I eat a couple of small bits of ginger after meals, and that is great to stop the nausea feeling. Ozempic certainly curbs the need for food, particularly fatty or sugary foods. Overall, I am very happy so far."

HDL was low and LDL high prior to Ozempic. Experienced moderate constipation, treated well with Senokot. Minor nausea at times. Belching if ate too fast."
