For Type 2 Diabetes "This medication started off okay for the first week, then all hell broke loose. Stomach pains, stomach bloating, a feeling of nausea but cannot bring up, dizziness, and a feeling of severe unwellness. Finally admitted to the hospital where a blood sugar doctor stopped the use immediately and put me on to tablets."

For Type 2 Diabetes "I have type 2 diabetes and am overweight. Although I try to eat healthy and walk, I am always tired and couldn’t lose weight. I started Ozempic about 6 months ago. At 0.25 mg, I experienced nausea, bloating, and diarrhea after I ate anything. I didn’t want to increase my dose after 4 weeks due to the side effects. The symptoms lessened but didn’t go away. I increased my dose 3 months ago to 0.50 mg. I have lost about 18 pounds, but the side effects make me feel terrible. I experience sharp stomachache pains, nausea, and overall not feeling well, and the worst symptom is terrible leg pain. Both legs hurt constantly from my knees down. Some nights I cannot sleep. I have been told it’s not a reported side effect, but it started right after I increased my dose. My A1C is down from 12 to 7.5, so I want to continue but am not sure if I can tolerate this discomfort. Has anyone else experienced leg/foot pain? My doctor says it’s from diabetes, but my numbers are down, and I never had this pain before."

For Type 2 Diabetes "Serious stomach issues, cramping, bloating, severe constipation, nausea, no appetite, rashes, pain in the upper and lower bowel, gas. Loss of too much weight, no taste for food. Have had previous trouble with colitis and diverticulitis but still prescribed this medication. Only have 1 kidney and now afraid it may be damaged. I have been on this drug for approximately 7-9 months. Now worried, but the doctor is not concerned enough to take me off this medication."

For Type 2 Diabetes "I have been on Ozempic for 20 weeks now, and I still experience bloating, flatulence, nausea, and fatigue. My A1C went back to normal, but I feel sick all the time. My most horrible side effect is the rotten egg smell of my burps. I am also taking Toujeo and Janumet."

For Cardiovascular Risk Reduction "I started this medication last week on Tuesday. The first two days, I had a headache and a flu-like feeling. Throughout the week, I felt nausea almost daily, bouts of diarrhea, and bloated. Today is my second dose of 0.25, and I lost 4 pounds in 7 days (probably the fact that anytime I eat, my next bowel movement is diarrhea). I have felt a general unwellness for the last 7 days and am anxious about how this week will go, as I haven't been able to accomplish what I normally am able to. If this week gets worse and I start vomiting and being really unwell, then I will stop taking this medication. I definitely don't have the same appetite I did before, and my junk food craving has basically been vanquished, however. If the symptoms don't peter out or they get worse, I don't see the point, as it affects my son's life as well when I can't be the best mom I can be."

For Type 2 Diabetes "I started on 0.25 for four weeks, had nausea, dizziness, burping nonstop every day, off-the-wall gas, and bloating. Went on 0.5, more or less the same side effects except more abdominal pain. Then went to 1 mg, my skin started feeling like I had a bad sunburn from the waist up. It hurt when clothes touched it. Four weeks later, went on 2 mg. All same symptoms. Then I started having severe neck pain and shoulder pain. Was on 8 months and only lost 16 pounds. A1c went from 7.5 to 5.5, but a lot had to do with eating less. I have EPI, so it was not worth it to me to take it anymore. Also, thyroid cancer runs in my family. Had a friend tell me her friend got thyroid cancer after 3 months, also had a lot of diarrhea. Now I'm off, no symptoms, skin feels better, and sugar around 130."

For Type 2 Diabetes "I started with .25 mg about five months ago, working up to 1 mg about three months ago. I honestly can't remember any notable side effects for the first four months. Unfortunately, after I took my last 1 mg dose, I almost immediately became nauseous and bloated. I could only eat small amounts of food before feeling like I was going to explode. It's obvious why a lot of people lose weight on this drug; it can make you feel like rubbish. I'm just not sure I can feel this horrible every single day for its benefits."

"I lost 20# in 5 months over a year ago and gained it all back in 6 mos. The top side effects then were nausea, constipation, bloating, and big hair loss, strangely starting a month after discontinuation and lasting 5 mos. Much hair grew back. I started up again a week ago and more, this time unbearable side effects. Horrible headaches at the base of my skull, acid reflux that chokes me and burns my throat at night, flashes of light and wisps of wind in my face at night, nightmares, hair coming out in swaths, erratic high BP (I have high BP, but it was under control before O.), bad joint pain (hips especially), extreme urinary incontinence (swelling down there with pee dribbling), and extremely emotional (incessant crying) just 5 minutes after injection. Five minutes after the second shot (second week), all the above that had “slightly” eased up came back full force! Husband again losing weight with doable nausea and blah feeling. *I have a lot of side effects to most meds."

For Type 2 Diabetes "This drug is helpful in maintaining a good blood glucose level. It has helped in lowering my overall weight, which was not working before by diet. At this time, I am on a 1 mg injection, but I feel I am having reactions of nausea, dizziness, bloating, burping, some abdominal pain, and constipation."

For Type 2 Diabetes "I took one injection of 1 mg as prescribed. I have been sick for a week with severe constipation, nausea, dizziness, stomach upset/pain, acidity, gas bloating. I could not eat or sleep comfortably at night. This is very strong and mainly suppresses the appetite. I never had this much sickness from a drug."

For Type 2 Diabetes "Coupled with continuous glucose meter, improved A1c down to 5.8 and lost some weight. Have experienced some apparently common moderate side effects including intermittent nausea, bloating, gas, heartburn, constipation/diarrhea, dizziness. So far, benefits outweigh bothersome discomfort. Easy to use weekly."

For Type 2 Diabetes "Reduced blood sugar from 10 to 7.1. Killed my hunger completely, no more food cravings. Side effects became disabling, had to discontinue using. Became bloated, nausea was bad, 1st time I have vomited in 50 years, fatigue, constipation, going to the emergency room as no doctors available to help."

For Type 2 Diabetes "Lower doses caused constipation, at the highest dose of 2, I experienced a full day of being sick to my stomach after injection. On these days, I ate saltine crackers and drank Coke Zero. The following days, I felt bloated and experienced burping and gas. However, I continued to lose weight, and my A1c was down to 7.6."

"I'm on week 5 in a few days. Started at 0.25 cc inj. Mild nausea and headaches. 5' 10'', 186 initial weight. I'm 40 lbs overweight. I tried to eat right and exercise, but the weight was not budging. Just going up, and I'm very active outside. Today I'm down 10 pounds, it's a slow process for me, it seems. Very little appetite, and you can't eat much at one time or you feel terrible, bloated, nauseated, headaches... but I'm determined to drop another 30 lbs. I'm just surprised at how little I eat for a portion and am completely full... and still the weight clings on. I could not do it without this drug."

"Currently on 1 mg per week (week 3). Mid-evening: feel bloated and nausea, followed by frequent watery loose stool throughout the night (ranging from 5 minutes to 30 minutes between movements). By midnight, nausea escalated to vomiting with continued watery loose stool. Early morning, body stabilizes with infrequent watery stool. Such events reoccur 2 to 3 days apart. Weight loss is ongoing."
