"Selegiline has been a godsend for my ADHD/Bipolar 2. It is non-addictive, and it does a satisfactory job at controlling my symptoms of amotivation, sustained focus, and general mood. I feel that it also has cognitive enhancing effects that don't get interrupted by the feeling of the medication, which was my problem with amphetamines and methylphenidate. The way those medications feel good is distracting in and of itself and I believe leads to more focus for sure, but a lower quality of it. Selegiline does not have this problem, so I feel it is superior in the aggregate. Also, it is much milder on the body than mainstream stims, so I feel it is better from a health standpoint too. It inhibits MAO-B which degrades dopamine, causing neurotoxic by-products, making it neuroprotective where other stims are not. If you want healthier, non-addictive, baseline stimulation, look no further. Great drug!"

"I take 5 mg selegiline after 16.8 g fish oil and lithium ER [for bipolar] first thing in the morning so selegiline metabolites don't mess up my sleep. Selegiline needs oil to be absorbed well. It's like a stimulant that affects your body [heart rate, salivation, nasal congestion, wakefulness] rather than your mind - no mania. Selegiline helps me with separating out simultaneous conversations in crowded places and eavesdropping, paying attention, not daydreaming, boredom, and picturing stuff in my head. The lithium helps with inhibiting impulsiveness. You have to respond to stimulants or selegiline fails."

"In Iran, it is customary for doctors not to continue treatment with Ritalin for ADHD after puberty. So, I had a lot of problems. Eventually, I came to the conclusion that the only over-the-counter drugs that can be effective include selegiline and amantadine, and that I got better results from selegiline than from Ritalin."
