Secukinumab for Psoriatic Arthritis "Injection 1 caused a hive over my eyebrow, wasn't sure if it was a mosquito bite. Injection 2 caused hives all over my arms, back, leg, and my throat started to close. Antihistamines were taken BEFORE I injected, and the hives lasted 3 days! Please have antihistamines nearby."

Secukinumab for Psoriatic Arthritis "After the initial phase, I got very sick, and my psoriasis has not improved at all. Runny nose (like really bad), chills, hives, plenty of pimples everywhere, and really tired. Hair follicles infected. Bad medication."

Secukinumab for Ankylosing Spondylitis "Severe as for 54 years - bilateral hip replacements 30 years ago - total fusion of spine - Been on Remicade for 10 plus years. Doc gave me a 150 mg injection of Cosentyx 1 week post 200 mg Remicade infusion. Started shaking uncontrollably for an hour followed by chills until early morning. Then the whole body itching and runny nose started followed by hives near the injection site. My eyes were the worst and wouldn't stop itching, and I started wheezing with each breath. Took almost 30 days for the symptoms to stop. Told the doc, and she thought it was just a cold and wanted to continue Cosentyx. Absolutely no way I would take it again. Back to Remicade. Tip - what also helps my AS is doxycycline - 100 once per day. Try it."

Secukinumab for Psoriatic Arthritis "I was put on Cosentyx by my rheumatologist as a first-line biologic. I was very keen for this drug to be my miracle, but unfortunately, it was a nightmare. After the first injection, a day later, I had a rash begin on my bum and was very sore and inflamed. The pain then moved into my bowel, giving me bad lower bowel pain. My rheumatologist sent me for a colonoscopy looking for IBD. The colonoscopy came back clear, and I was told to proceed. The same thing happened on the next injection, the pain was so bad I didn’t sleep for days. I proceeded with the third injection after being told it would get better. It definitely did not, and I was living with no sleep, severe pain, and couldn’t go to the bathroom. I have stopped Cosentyx two months since my last injection and am on probiotics and medicine to calm my digestive system to heal, I am still very sore. No diarrhea or blood, but very painful. Please, if you get these symptoms, don’t proceed, stop, and try another biologic. I am now on Humira and have no problems."

For Plaque Psoriasis "I went on Cosentyx after a miscommunication with the amount of time I needed to be off Enbrel. I started my 5-week dose and continued for 6 months. In that time, my psoriasis was completely clear, but the side effects were horrendous: hives, hotspots, breakouts of psoriasis on arms and legs, eczema on my hands and feet. The two weeks following my injections, I would itch and break out in hives. The customer support was nonexistent, I managed to find more information from the U.S. support. I finally went off it in October 2015 and still dealt with the side effects: eczema and some itching. I have spoken to the nurse and was not impressed with their knowledge of the drug, Enbrel had a much better support line."

Secukinumab for Plaque Psoriasis "I used Cosentyx for 6 months. I was hopeful at the start as I noticed a slight improvement after a couple of weeks. It got a little better after a couple of months, then started slowly coming back. It also gave me a nasty rash that was an absolute nightmare. I could not stop itching, it was that bad I honestly thought I had scabies. I went to the doctor, who said I was having an allergic reaction, so prescribed me antihistamines, which I am still taking 3 to 4 a day, depending on how bad the itching gets. I saw my dermatologist again this week, and I am now going to try Taltz, so I live in hope this one might actually work. I tried methotrexate and etanercept prior to Cosentyx, they proved equally as useless for me."

Secukinumab for Psoriatic Arthritis "Was on methotrexate for ten years. Did well but thought it was causing some IBS-type symptoms. Derm PA put me on Humira. Did nothing and flared really bad waiting the six months before insurance would let me switch. Next was Cosentyx. Skin 100% clear in three weeks BUT---hives up and down my arms, back-to-back UTIs -five of them. I felt a little groggy and like I was wading through chest-high water all the time. THEN--major bloody diarrhea. Major. By the time I had a colonoscopy, I was a mess. Six weeks of nonstop bloody diarrhea. Diagnosed with Cosentyx-induced Ulcerative Colitis. Four months on prednisone trying to clear it up. Hoping it is not permanent. Gastroenterologist said he sees it from Cosentyx a lot. Now I have gained another fifteen pounds from the prednisone and back to being in terrible pain. Scalp starting to flare again. Cosentyx was NOT my miracle drug."
