Ramipril for High Blood Pressure "Loved this drug at first, but about 3 months in the side effects became overwhelming. Lightheadedness without hypotension, feeling very tired throughout the day, nausea, severe abdominal and back pain, and digestive-like pains. It reduced my blood pressure by 15 points systolic, but the severe side effects I experienced made me look for another option."

For High Blood Pressure "I started taking the lowest dose at 1.5 with a few side effects: headache and blemishes on my skin, which became quite irritable and itchy. My blood pressure started at 220/140, dropping to 153/98, so doctors increased the dose to 2.5. Now my blood pressure ranges between 143/98 and 134/88. I will speak to doctors again as I am suffering from tiredness and bouts of high blood pressure noticeable with my face burning and cheeks flushing. I must be the unlucky one that has picked up side effects."

For High Blood Pressure "Been on 2.5 mg ramipril and 2.5 mg bisoprolol fumarate for hypertension, but getting headaches and light buzzing in my hands, fingers, and arms. Feeling tired. Does anyone else experience these side effects?"

For High Blood Pressure "Started the drug a week ago due to high blood pressure 182/107. This wasn't taken at the hospital when I was due for an infusion for my rheumatoid arthritis. Told I would not be given it and to see my GP. He took blood pressure that dropped by 30 points from the previous day. Think white coat syndrome may be involved. Anyway, have now been taken off it after not even a week as suffering from nausea, lightheadedness, loss of appetite, extreme tiredness, heart fluttering. Seeing GP in a couple of weeks and will take it from there. Only thing I got told when I asked about side effects was that I might get a cough."

For High Blood Pressure "Worried about the side effects of taking ramipril, decided to split the first dose to ease the effects. Two months and all going well, maybe slightly more tired than I was before, but can live with that. Before, BP was around 150/95, now, 120-130/80."

For High Blood Pressure "After being diagnosed with very high blood pressure, I've been taking Ramipril for 2 months now. The side effects I am experiencing are 1/ I get very tired in the evening at about 8 pm. 2/ I am beginning to get a bit forgetful and confused from time to time. 3/ Sometimes I get this tingling sensation in my hands and wrists (it feels like a mild electric shock). But apart from that, the drug is manageable and doesn't really interfere with my day-to-day life."

For High Blood Pressure "I have been on ramipril for over 2 years. I ran out almost two weeks ago! Since then I have had much better days and am content with my life. Before this, I was incredibly lethargic, depressed, and not interested in anything. I don't think it's a coincidence! I will talk to my GP and find out what she thinks. All I can say is the change is fantastic and dramatic."

For High Blood Pressure "I was prescribed Ramipril 2.50 mg to bring my BP down, which was spiking between 145/90 and 155/85. I found the usual headaches, dizziness, and tiredness during the first few weeks. Those symptoms never really went away. I think I just was able to manage them better as time went on. My BP did drop to around 120/80, though. But I have recently found the dizziness started to affect me a bit more, especially walking in busy shops. I've gone to the GP to ask for a lower dosage of 1.25 mg. I've only been on it for 3 days. My BP has gone up slightly to around 125/80. But I shall monitor that over the next few weeks. I've also noticed the 1.25 mg has given me a slightly drier throat. Not sure if it has to do with the coating of the capsule as the medicine should be the same as before. If BP goes up anymore and dizziness is the same, I shall go back to the usual 2.50 mg dosage, I will have just got to live with it."

For High Blood Pressure "I have been on it for 10 years. I have the cough, very tired, keep falling asleep, and reduced appetite. Also, achy joints (that could be age related). Today I forgot to take it and felt a lot better, with no cough or falling asleep. I am on 2.5 mg."

For High Blood Pressure "Have just started ramipril 2.5 mg. It is the second day and felt extremely tired last night, otherwise, okay. My BP had been steadily climbing up to 155/99. I had been on amlodipine last year for about 6 weeks, which lowered my BP to a normal 128/68. However, my left leg started to break out in a large itchy rash, and the only thing different was taking amlodipine-so I stopped. Now I am on steroid cream for the rash, but still bits are there after 6 months. When reading side effects, I see it is a rare side effect of the amlodipine. So I will see how I cope with ramipril when I have been on it a while."

For Cardiovascular Risk Reduction "Been on Ramipril for two weeks for 140/87 BP, and I could handle the light head and lethargy, but what I cannot handle is the risk, albeit small, of lung cancer, which some reports on the internet have shown. It is a very small risk, but with cancer in my family, I am terrified of any risk."

For High Blood Pressure "I've been on 2.5 mg for a few days. So far, I've had dizziness, tiredness, and a dry throat, but no cough. The side effects, although annoying at the moment, are easily bearable. I had a prior reading of around 180/110, and a few days in, it's still the same. I read that the drug began working straight away, but I will persevere until my next medical in 3 weeks and see what happens. So for the moment, I've rated it 1 out of 10, as for me, I've not seen a drop in BP and now have additional side effects to contend with."

For Cardiovascular Risk Reduction "I am having a completely identical experience to W9 Boy: “Taken for 1 to 2 years September 16, 2021. I've been on 1.25 Ramipril since a valve replacement last year. I take it at night. It gives me tinnitus, patchy skin, cough, and I feel tired a lot. I was taking beta blockers as well for a few weeks but stopped. Average BP has gone down from 135/90 to 122/78. But I don't know if it's worth it. Can't see a doctor as I'm in London and the wheels have completely come off our National Health Service - it's in chaos.” Why isn’t howling tinnitus listed as a side effect? I stopped taking it and it not only went away, but I felt hugely better generally. Got chatting to a doctor (in a pub, not possible to get an appointment), and he advised taking them again so tinnitus is back."

For High Blood Pressure "I've been taking 2.5 mg of Ramipril for a month now, and although it has lowered my BP somewhat, I really don't like the side effects of this drug. I constantly feel dizzy, and the tiredness is overwhelming at times, so much so that I'm sleeping the whole day away on my days off work. Nausea is another problem, an increase in anxiety and shakiness. Not nice at all. I really want to come off this."
